The hotel is in the midst of a much needed facelift. Pool was closed. Patio to watch sunset was under construction. You could hear drilling in our room midday (but not at night). Had issue with the AC and had to call front desk at 2am.

This is a very old hotel and you can tell. Staff were lovely though. We got an early check in which was very nice.

All was good/excellent, especially all the reception as well as restaurant staff.

Connecting to the internet was a nightmare as the system would not accept my hyphenated name. Despite trying all permutations, we still could not connect. Finally, we had to take it to concierge to get us connected. However the next morning we got disconnected again!

The location was great as it was away from the town with views of the mountains. The staff were attentive, friendly and genuinely nice. The bar and restaurant offered a superb choice for drinking and dining with a bar snack/light menu and an a la carte menu. We sampled them both and they were delicious. The spa staff and facilities were amazing, we had a Turkish bath and massage and used the sauna and steam room. Overall perfect stay.

To start with it is overpriced. The rate we were charges was a hold-up.they saud we were being upgraded but the room was very small. Positive things are the marvelous panoramic view and the swimming pool. Also the buffet at night is excellent. Th breakfast buffet at Movenpick offers more choices. The wirst came when in the morning we had to stand stinking ilors in the bathroom. Althought 7th floor the odors from the sewers were reaching the toom. Just unacceptabl. They sprayed some perfume but minutes later that was gone. We found out that this happens when airco is shut off. We always shut off airco for the night. One hour After we switched on airco again in the morning the smell had improved. It remains a structural problem not to be accepted when you book a five star hotel. Personnel is very kind however the reception tried to sell us an excurssion which prived to be a rip off. We did not accept thir offer.

We could not recommend the Petra Marriot more! The staff were absolutely amazing (shout out to Omar for being so great for our entire stay in particular). The rooms were lovely, the hotel has the best view I have ever seen in my whole life, the breakfast was great and all round an excellent experience. Nothing is too much trouble and you really are made to feel very special and looked after!

This hotel is off the beaten path and is absolutely beautiful. If you want to be out of the noise of Petra and enjoy the stark beauty of the land, this is the hotel! Staff was exceptional and this was our favorite stay of all hotels on our trip!

Don’t book tours with Ghaith!

Don’t get me wrong, the hotel and the service was good, and location is amazing, with a pool overlooking the mountains. What was very disappointing was one of the receptionists (Ghaith), who has some sort of parallel business, arranging the tours on behalf of Marriott with overpriced rates (he wanted to charge me +90% more expensive than a normal rate), and who gives these jobs to his friends. I want to highlight this as I believe it is not acceptable that a prestigious brand like Marriott has these kind of employees, and also gives bad reputation to Jordanians (who generally speaking are kind and hospitable).

An older style smaller Marriott, not really like the stereotype international Marriott hotels, but a welcoming and comfortable base for Petra with fabulous views, especially at sunset. Perfectly satisfactory, did the job, room comfortable. OK food, nice bar.

It is in a great location overseeing Petra with a great sunset view. However, the quality of the breakfast buffet leaves a lot to be desired. The buffet opened at 6 AM but the majority of staff arrived around 6:30. None of the items that should have been warm were warm.

I was admiring the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables on the way to Petra. Unfortunately, none of the fresh fruit and vegetables made their way to the Marriott Buffet. I mean fresh strawberries would have been a nice addition instead of the canned peaches.

As well, I tried to order a coffee from the bar but never saw the bartender or the coffee again. I left after forty minutes of waiting.

For the price point, the Marriott in Petra was a disappointment and the explanation by the below manager will not substitute for the bad service experienced.

Not close to Petra and no sleep in.

Very good breakfast and restaurant. Staff extremely welcoming and polite. Hotel was out of town overlooking gorge so need a car to get to Petra. That said plenty of parking. Issues with housekeeping knocking on door both mornings before 7am. Also housekeeping walked into the room both days (without knocking) before 8am as they thought we were part of a group that had left the hotel. We were not.

Other points.
Room was hot at night, we were on the ground floor and windows did not lock, room safe not attached to anything.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Amazing views of the valley and the perfect spot to watch the sunset. The staff were incredible and helpful! We definitely plan to come back in the future!

The bathroom started to stink around 10pm. It smelled like sewage. When I shut the door I couldn’t smell the odor so I didn’t file a complaint. But it was unbearable in the morning when I had to use the bathroom. A large screw also fell out of the handle. I left it on the counter.
