Very nice hotel, the room was small but beautifully decorated. Just consider that it's on top of a mountain in Petra. Close to the visitor center walking, like 10mins walk using some shortcuts, or a short ride in taxi.
Our friend Andullah was so nice with breakfast! He saw us struggling and gave us a huge banquet...thank you so much for making us try an authentic jordanian breakfast!

The staff at this hotel bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. They allowed early check-in and late check-out. They were extremely helpful by ordering us dinner to be delivered from an off-site restaurant.

Staff are exceptional; specifically Faizel, Remi, and Abdula. They are some of the nicest most helpful hotel staff. There was a language barrier, but not a concern for Translate app.

Rooms are excellent. Functional AC, clean sheets, clean rooms, great panoramic view of the city. Wifi internet was reliable.

The rooftop terrace is where we ate the included average Jordan breakfast. The hard boiled eggs were a nice daily feature. Also there is nice sunset watching from the terrace.

The only bad things were lack of hot water for showers and Avery cramped bathroom sink area and shower area in unit 409. We discussed lack of hot water with Faizal on our 2nd of third days. Unfortunately the water never became hot for showers.

Hotel is an uphill walk, maybe 20 minutes from bus station. The bus station is next to the Petra Museum, which is next to Petra main entrance. Taxis ask between 5-7 JD for the short ride. Some settle on 3JD. Sadly taxis do not use meters in Wadi Musa. In Amman, this taxi fare would be only 1JD.

This hotel is well priced given friendly and helpful staff, and hotel amenities. We would definitely stay at this hotel again if the hot water situation could be resolved.

I chose this property from reviews and how close it was to Petra Visitors Center. Since it is off-season, I may have been the only guest at the time. The staff was amazing and very accommodating, as they made me amazing meals at the drop of a call - which were a bounty of deliciousness. Would stay there again without hesitation.

This is a brand new hotel with 10-12 minutes walk to Petra visitor center. Beautiful interior.
Everybody is very friendly and trying to help.
We asked for an iron - delivered within 5 minutes. Asked for refrigerator - same thing.
Chef cooked especially for us a vegetarian meal.
Definitely recommended.

Excellent place to stay!

The 3rd and 4th floor are fully renovated. From the outside, I was skeptical when we pulled up, but it was a gem inside! Really nice sized room, super friendly staff, extremely comfortable beds, and just an all around great experience. The restaurant is humble, but apart from that— I would 100% stay again. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. They even ordered late night pizza for us! I highly recommend this place if you want something close to Petra, yet reasonably priced.

I don't know how this compares with the rest of Wadi Musa, but I was not impressed at all, and surprised this hotel has such a high rating.

The WiFi didn't work in the room at all, it was only reachable in the lobby area but even when connected it didn't work very well.

The room wasn't cleaned at all during my stay. The towels didn't appear to be clean at check-in and I started to get a couple of small bugs in the room on the second day.

The bathroom was tiny - the door didn't open fully because it was so crammed.

There is also no safe / safety deposit box available despite this being advertised on Hotels.com.

The Shaqilath Hotel is in an excellent location for visiting Petra as you can easily walk down a set of stairs from the hotel to the main road and to the visitor center (10-15 minutes). The hotel offers a complimentary breakfast that starts at 6:30 am (early enough for an early visit to Petra before the real crowds begin) and is plentiful with pita, toast, hard boiled eggs, cheeses, hummus, pancakes, coffee and juices). The staff are friendly and kind. They also offer a boxed lunch (a sandwich, fruit, bottled water, and a pound cake) for 5 JOD (you can find similar types of things in town, too). We had a triple room and they kindly gave us a room with a small balcony that gave a nice view of Wadi Musa. Overall, happy with my stay!

Nice hotel and friendly staff, not too far from Petra’s visitors center. Not the cheapest option around, but worths the money. Nice view too and pretty good breakfast. A bit far for walking from the central part of the city, where all the restaurants and food spots are, but they got their own restaurant too.
Overall we had a great time.

Hotel is just three minutes drive from Petra Visitor Center. Rooms are medium size and breakfast was good. Check-in and checkout times were generous (noon-noon).

I am not sure how well the rooms were cleaned though. Upon check-In in our room there was poop in the toilet bowl :-(, and the towels appeared dump, even though the climate is very dry.

The staff was very friendly though, and there is a very nice view from the rooftop dining area.

The Shaqilath definitely exceeded my husband's and my expectations for such reasonably priced accommodation. It sparkles! Great attention to detail in the design, meals, facilities (even multinational electrical sockets), and every aspect of their service. I'll be recommending it to everyone we know who plans to visit Petra. FYI, we found it easiest to take the stairs down to the main street when going to Petra, and the roadway back up after Petra. Both about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the Visitors' Centre.

Faiyez was super helpful booking me a car back to Amman at a reasonable price after my stay. He and his son had lots of good recommendations on the best way to see Petra. The room was nice, clean, and comfortable, the the breakfast hit the spot before heading out to explore the sites. Great value for the price, and would recommend the property for anyone, regardless of budget.

Google maps is not great to try to reach this location and would suggest messaging the hotel directly for better guidance. Hotel was under renovation when I visited so a little biased in terms of condition and noise. The employees are extremely generous and I would highly recommend ordering breakfast and food from the hotel - the proportions are more than huge and you will not finish.

Great hotel for the price!

OMG! Let me tell you this is the best hotel I've been in regards cost and benefit. The price was so good for the services they offered.

The manager welcomed us very well making us feel like visiting our uncle. He was smiling and making jokes as if he knew us forever.

The room was big enough for that price. It had everything: fridge, coffee, everything for the bathroom, a big closet, desk... etc. Very very good for that price

Breakfast was so good too. Many choices for that small hotel. I was honestly expecting just coffee, bread and some fruits, but they have many options to choose from!

Although I don't think I'll go back to Petra even if I visit Jordan again, I'd pick the same hotel if I ever want to go again!
The only thing to consider is that I picked this hotel because Google Maps said 10 minute walk from Petra. BUT, it is a very steep climb. Even if you're on shape, consider that you still have to hike in Petra which is a lot, and also think about the weather. We walked the first time, but took a taxi when coming back. (There's free parking in Petra, but we didn't know, so we went by car the second day!)

The property was very nice and they were accomodative of our dietary requirements and provided a very generous delicious dinner on one of the nights.

The bathroom was rather inconvenient and there was a lot of water from the shower covering the floor and from the sink.

Also the breakfast service was very slow, so if you are in a hurry, do reserve at least 45 minutes even if its to eat just toast and jam.

You get what you pay for. It was a cheap price but so was the experience. The bathroom was dirty, no toilet paper. The lock in the front door wouldnt work without much force. The “lunch box” was a total waste of money. It was a long walk to Petra- and all up steep hills on the way back.

Basic hotel that has what you need

This hotel has all the basic amenities for your stay while visiting Petra. The rooms are not glamorous but have a bed, A/C, heat, a good shower, and breakfast. We ate dinner here both nights of our stay (additional 10-15 JOD per plate) and the food was good, authentic Jordanian fare. The staff were very kind and accommodating. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from Petra (uphill from the visitors center). Overall good value hotel.

1500 characters aren’t enough to describe how wonderful the staff were. They were very helpful nice with great manners. First, the room wasn’t wide enough for three of us so they showed us all the available rooms and allowed us to pick with no fees. They called and checked on us more than once, they cooked for us a great breakfast. Abdullah the one how welcomed us went out of the hotel to help us with directions when we got lost. As conclusion, those guys are the most welcoming people I have ever seen in all the world hotels.

We stayed for one night only, they offered dinner for us when we arrived and it sounded nice, but we were going to Petra by Night and had no time for dinner as we arrived late. Room was comfortable and clean. Next morning was an early start as well, and they had some breakfast for us, not the buffet but served on plates with cling film on our table, fruit, ham, cheese, their skinny bread (like pita bread), hummus and another kind of dip, and hard boiled eggs. When we were at the table eating another staff member arrived for work and we were offered omelette as well. Service was very good. We were able to leave our bags with them while we visited Petra and collected them in the afternoon with no issues.

This property functions more like a bed & breakfast than a hotel. It is a family-run operation and everyone is very attentive to guest needs. The room was well kept and comfortable although the bathroom size limited use to one person at a time.
The location is within walking distance to Petra main entrance. For 50 JD we were offered a ride for two and trail guide to the Petra back entrance that avoids the 900 step climb to the Monastery.
Breakfast comes with the room. Dinner is available in the form of a home-cooked platter of tasty local cuisine for 10-15 JD.
Parking is available across the street.
The only negatives to our experience was inconsistent wifi and occasional street noise through the window. Otherwise this hotel is a well-kept value (60 JD/night) especially in view of more expensive alternatives elsewhere in the area.

The staff was super lovely and accommodating. Offered us two different rooms even though he didn’t need to. We arrived late and they offered to make ya dinner. It was traditional Jordanian and super tasty!

I stayed at the Shaqilath for 3 nights in December 2019. The hotel is well situated for a visit to Petra, being roughly 15 minutes walk or 5 minutes drive from the Visitor Center. The room was of a good size and clean with more than adequate amenities. Fikry spoke excellent English and upon my arrival was very helpful with suggestions and tips about how to visit Petra. The staff was generally very service-oriented with respect to my stay, breakfasts and dinners, and going above and beyond with helping with any issues that arose. The only (small) issue I had during my stay Is that the shower would vary between warm and scalding due to the nature of the water heater but after my previous travels I was happy to have a hot shower. I would happily stay at Shaqilath again and am pleased to recommend them to others.

It’s a good spot, the service is very fast and kind. Respectful employees. Dinner was provided that was extra charge but it was delicious local food. The book description doe not detail what size bed. We ended up getting two full beds for my wife and I. Clean rooms and new furniture. The only major criticism would be the shower pressure was bad and the shower head did not work. If you are going to Petra they provide and awesome lunch box for a price. Fruits, sandwich, snacks, and sweets, worth it for the hike. Overall a good place for the price.

Great, warm Middle East hospitality!

We were greeted with warm hospitality. We were given some great \"insider tips\" on how to view Petra without the huge crowds that most tourists fight. The hotel is a short 15 min walk or easy drive to the entrance of Petra. Anything that would make our stay more pleasant was eagerly provided.
The staff packed a great lunch for us to carry with us into Petra for much less than we would have paid inside. They were also willing to provide vegetarian foods for the included buffet breakfast. We ate our evening meal there at the hotel and the food was great and a favorite of our trip to the Middle East, and had a nice visual appeal as well.
They were very friendly and service oriented and we would be happy to stay with them again.

The staff was the best part of our stay. They gave tips on Petra and was very hospitable. The room was very clean and comfortable. Only thing is that we can hear from the room when people are talking in the dining area/reception. Other than that it was perfect

They offered transportation (at a fee, of course) with a guide to hike a new path into the back side (Monastery) of Petra. Exclusive and allowed easier access to Petra without doing an “out and back”

Nicest staff ever!

This hotel is close to the petra visitors center but not walking distance. The staff was great, the included breakfast was good & our room was clean. We utilized their option for the back way info Petra, fyi it is not an easier route it is just the back way. We did like it because it allowed us to reach the Monastery before the crowd.

Strongly recommended!! Convenient location, staff are VERY friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Clean facility and comfort bed. Their underground dinner (zarb) was the best meal I had in my entire Jordan trip. I would definitely come back in the future.

The owner Rami was hands on and went out of his way to ensure we had an excellent visit. I have travelled extensively around the world and this is the most hospitable place on the planet. The owner drove us to a special place to view the sunset and to sample Bedouin bread, all free of charge!! Bergen drove us into town for dinner and picked us up! The entrance to Petra is 700 meters away, but after a delicious breakfast he also drove us to Petra at 6:25 am. In the evening, we spent a leisurely time in a Bedouin tent on the rooftop overlooking the city and had a wonderful conversation with this warm and interesting man who came offering tea. I can not recommend this place enough. It is true hospitality at its best! Comfortable rooms with everything you need. This is a smaller guesthouse that has been thoughtfully constructed to ensure your comfort and experience. We only spent one night...would have loved to stay longer as there is much to see and do....

We have booked a double room with hills/city view and we have got one with no view and a very small window with no light. Fourtunatelly we only stayed one night. For what I payed 65 $, it was very bad.
