Loved the helpful staff. I didn’t like the fact that the rooms are not maintained. My hotel was paid 3 weeks in advance, we arrived at 11 in the evening, the air conditioning was not working, started pouring out water like a waterfall. Got a slightly better room the next day will issues of a leaking toilet. Hotel is not properly maintained. Not worth the money they charge

It's near the bus stations so you can easily check your itinerary to plan your transportation going to different places. The food places and convince stores are very near the place so no more worries buying some of your essentials.

I appreciated the continues new towels, toothbrushes provided daily and that the shower has hot water.

Room is spacious. Lightings are not bright enough, not a problem during daytime by drawing the curtain. Air condition is good.

You can't beat the price! The hotel itself was quiet and clean with good location to public transit but was also within walking distance to many key areas. The only downfall? No extra sheets nor blankets were available for the sofa couch. Good thing we had travel pillows and an airplane blanket!

booked a reservation and checked in @ 8pm after dinner, The staffs registered us and told us we have been upgraded from double to triple room. Took our key and went up to find out that our “upgraded” room is a DIRTY room. Rubbish is everywhere, bed is not make up. Called the staff about it, and he DID NOT know that the room is DIRTY. Went down and waited again for our next room, went up again to found out that it’s a twin bed which we did requested. Was very disappointed about the staff who did not know anything about the room is it in vacant clean or vacant dirty. I hope the staff can be more attentive about it

It's good for the money we paid, it's Singapore! The property were reasonably clean. There was no windows in the bathroom, so the bathroom was smelly. The staff did go extra mile to meet our needs. Thanks so much to Cythia who amended my bookings for me. Cythia is a super star! I met Jessica in the hotel, she was pretty friendly too, and shared some travel tips with me.

Online System stated 4 adult but hotel staff at Registration don’t allow. Very Disappointed. Bath room toilet door unable to clock. There is no mat outside the bath room to dry guest feet. TV controller not working. Dust bin to small.

The female staff members are quite nice and very approachable. The guys are more “reserved.” The hotel is easily accessible transport-wise as well as for food as there are lots of food joints in the area. The room is small for a family room. There is barely enough space to move around, especially with our luggages. I had goosebumps on our first night as when I checked the sheets, it had a couple of pubic hair on it (looked like it anyway!) and there was blood stain on the duvet cover. It is a budget hotel but I was hoping it would still be cleaned thoroughly. The shower room is mucky, and looked like it need proper scrubbing. There are moulds on the ceiling of the shower. When we asked for our bed to be made, I was expecting new sheets to be put on every day but no, they literally just made the bed up. They changed our towels dails but the towels looked really old and worn out. The hotel seems busy as we see new faces day in and day out so they should really prioritise on little things like this. The housekeeping don’t even bother to sweep the floor and wash the cups that have been used! *I have been washing the cups daily and just to test and see if the housekeeping staff actually bother to wash up, I left a cup unwashed for 2 days. They didn’t bother to pick the cup up AT ALL. It was still left unwashed even if they have topped up the coffee sachets and etc. All in all, we coped as we didn’t really stay all day in the hotel. I would pay more to stay in a nicer hotel.

The stay was great. The first two days was a small room because of CNY. But the hotel upgraded us after the rush.

The neighbourhood is excellent if you like to eat. Whampoa hawker stall is nearby. It is open most of the day. Closed for a week during CNY. But some Malay and Indonesian stalls are open. There is also a popular Hainanese Chicken Rice specialist nearby and quite a few Bah Kuh Teh restaurants. It was a food haven. SB Mall is also nearby if you want to do some shopping. But Little India is 10 minutes away from the Hotel by bus. There are buses to everywhere from the Hotel. Visit Toa Payoh markets (10 minutes from the Hotel). We even took the buses to Singapore Zoo from here. It was great.

The hotel is not close to any MRT stations but has a lot of bus options. Best to get off MRT at Novena, Ferrer Park, Lavender to get to here. Buses are so cheap. Just don't travel during the peak-hours.

Balestier Hotel is great value for money and efficient is every way.

Cheap price = cheap hotel, mold, & gross mattress

I needed a place to stay for a few days whilst shifting house. I understand that this is a cheap (budget) hotel, but I certainly wasn't expecting to find mold and other nasty stains on the mattress (see photos). In addition, the bathroom needs a complete scrub down as it had lots of mold as well (see photos). I was wondering why I was getting sick, and that is when I stripped the sheets and found the moldy mattress. I did tell the front desk and they apologized, but I don't know if they will actually do anything about it or not. Also, the bathroom does not have a separate shower stall. The shower is in the same space as the toilet and sink. You could literally sit on the toilet and take a shower if you chose to. The top loft bed was comfortable, but the bottom bed was very hard (typical of Asia). Don't expect a lot if you book here.

not noise proof so if your neighbor staying next door is noisy, you will hear them. Toilet clean but stings. Room is small and wifi is unstable. My 2nd stay here, the previous one was much better, the experience thus quite depends on the room location you get. Hassle free check in/out, no deposit, in general nothing to complain.

Sleep on a cement bed, enjoy shouting guests

The hotel is in an area with many food stalls and small 24h markets, and is in a good location. Some staff helpful, others hapless. The room is actually well balanced, and would provide for a good price/quality ratio were it not for:
1. A mattress that consists of a slab of concrete. No rooms available with softer mattresses according to the male front desk person.
2. Guests who arrive at 02:30 in the morning, open multiple room doors, shout to each other, slam doors, and otherwise try to make as much noise as possible. Two nights in a row.

We booked a room in the fragrance at selegie area but mysteriously allotted in balestier area. Very far from any transport. Expedia refused to admit their fault. The rooms were tiny with absolutely no room. Bathroom are the size of tiny cupboard. Terrible experience.

i do think the hotel is a nice one. the room they gave me is nt a big one but enough for one person; yet they can really upgrade the appliance a bit like the telly and the bathroom... well what i really feel disappointed is that there is no wifi or computer services there. As said in the description, hotel stayers can use at least a public computer in the lobby, there actually isnt one... its pretty hard for tourists to fet info for places or do online checking if no computer is provided

room is really small but then it is Singapore, the most expensive city in the world to live in. The more you pay the better you get. Terrible thing is the staff placed all the cleaning equipment just in front of my room door ( was stayed in the first floor). I was taking a stroller with me, the alley was so small that i had to share it with the cleaning trolley.

Thanks to the hotel, they gave us a nice room on high floor. We checked in on 16 Apr and stayed there for 4 nights. Though we didn't stay in the room much but we had a great sleep. It was a nice and quiet stay. The hotel smell lovely and the receptions were nice to us. The price was reasonable. I would book this hotel again if I go to SG next time! Thank you!

Cheap hotel close to a massive food court.

The room was very basic and did not even have a cupboard. The shower was not enclosed so the toilet etc gets wet (the door lock was rusty and I was almost locked in). Overall reasonable for the room price.

Hotel location was good. The front office people were very nice and helpful. We found the room to be very cramped. The bathroom was very small, with the shower like on a boat. Where you can use the toilet, brush your teeth, and take a shower at the same time.

Spent 3 horrible nights. Reception service was good, location was ok. The rooms especially the bathroom was horrible. It has a sewage smell, even when you took a shower you felt like you were showering in dirty water. The beds were leather beds which was so uncomfortable which left me with back pains. Bed sheets/pillow cases were so dirty I had to ask for them to be changed. Great way to end my trip. I ended up at the airport 5hours before my flight departed cause i felt cleaner and more comfortable there. Never will i stay at this hotel again.

This is a good value, basic budget hotel which is some distance from the centre ( nearest MRT is Novena which closes at about 2300). Very nice, helpful an efficient staff. Bedding and room were very clean.

Had an interesting stay here! Be prepared to witness a grimier singapore, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but makes you wonder about the condition of you sheets - definitely not something that helps you sleep! But good rates and decent room for what you pay. Necessities right outside.
