This is not a 4 star hotel. With my experience, this should be no more than 3 stars.

I stayed in the 4th floor. There was hair on the blankets. Like a lot. WiFi kept disconnecting so I had to keep using my data. Also, the AC was not working. I brought up it up to the front desk, she giggled and told me that there are no rooms left.

The only pros is the closeness of this hotel and the water pressure.

With the price you pay and the quality, you might as well stay in a hostel.

Great Euro hotel within walking distance of most sights in central Sofia. A great hub for a nice day(s) in the capital. Convenient to drive to, with parking directly beside the hotel. Upon check in receptionist very rude. Room was not terribly clean and shower pan did not drain. Had to ask for shower gel as run out. Pretty poor for a 4 star hotel.
My colleague had to change rooms, as air conditioning did not work, not great in 42 degree heat. Also, same problem with shower and room
Not properly cleaned.
Excellent location and let down with above.

Short (6-hour) layover between flights. Were given the ‘handicapped room’.

It wasn’t needed, but, that was what we were given.

Not close to ADA specs. No turn-around area in room, only bathroom. No room for transfer from chair to bed, if needed. It was an all were bathroom, but the flooring was same as rest of flooring and extremely slippery when wet, and pretty much everything gets wet during shower.

We only had a total of 5-1/2 hours for dining, shower and sleep before transfer to IS, and being next to the elevator and right off of reception was noisy.

Attached restaurant was much better than expected. It is a hold and warm type kitchen, but the outcome was quite pleasant.

The location is great - next to the historic downtown Sofia. The staff is friendly, respectful and 24/7 available. We needed a taxi at 3:30 am and it came 4 minutes after the receptionist made the call. Will be back.

A very nice hotel located in the centre of Sofia.
The Alexander Nevski Cathedral is 5-10 minute walk, The Largo, Sveta-Nedela Cathedral and Banya Bashi Mosque and Vitosha Boulevard are 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.
The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable beds and have tea and coffee making facilities.
Highly recommended.

Aside from a check out from a receptionist who was unfriendly to the point of hostile, the hotel was otherwise fine, but nothing special.Other people working there seemed pleasant.

We never saw the bar being used, and it generally felt a bit tired. However the room was clean, a decent size, and the hotel was sited within easy walking distance of the main attractions.

My room was full of some dark butterflies. They seemed to have come out of the bathroom, so I had to change my room, the staff was good enough to give me another room, although there was also one butterfly in that room as well, I didn’t want to bother changing rooms as it seemed like it is the issue with the whole hotel and I had only 3 hours to sleep! Otherwise, good location and staff was good but definitely needs some bugs inspection!

Almost all of the staff (Alex, Ava, Vanya, director of breakfasts) was terrific with the exception of one receptionist, who was sullen and unresponsive.

The hotel is centrally located -- across the street from the opera, which we attended -- and not far from the important sites. Breakfasts were wonderful.

The receptionist who checked us in was rude and unhelpful giving us a very bad impression of the hotel. Fortunately the manager checked with me the next day and from then on our stay was outstanding. With the exception of the first receptionist, we found the staff to be outstanding. I highly recommend them.

Hotel was spotlessly clean and service throughout the hotel was excellent. The hotel was modern, new carpets and modern furnishings. Our room was excellent and the lift takes you up to each floor.
The breakfast was superb, very large range of continental plus cooked food such as an English breakfast, the coffee out of the two machines was exceptional.
The staff were always so helpful and very nice to chat to, also very knowledgeable.
The hotel is 15 mins walk from metro Serdika and easy to find. The pavement before the hotel is uneven and at night it was quite dark so be aware but was very safe in the neighbourhood.
Our favourite eaterie was Spaghetti Kitchen bar in Svetla, the food is to die for and cheap, two main meals plus dessert £25, also they catered very well for gluten free. Near the hotel is a local Billa supermarket which has a very comprehensive range of food and drink etc.
Overall thankyou to the hotel for a fabulous stay.

This hotel was extremely clean and comfortable, along with the location being excellent. The breakfast was well done with a lot of choices for everyone. But what really stood out and made our stay so wonderful was Katie at the front desk. She made the hotel feel like a home. We looked forward to seeing her at the start and end of our days. She helped with anything needed and even things I didn’t realize we needed. She is proof people make a big difference in an experience.

I stayed for four nights. First night i couldn't sleep due to air conditioning units outside my window so asked for another room. New room was between lift, restaurant and road which I found ironic however it was actually quiet and had a good sleep. My room, bed, bathroom were all comfortable and clean. Appreciated the drinks tray and fridge. Breakfast had plenty of cold and hot options. Only saw one waiter who was very pleasant and professional. Walking distance to the centre and the sights. As i had a late flight they looked after my bags after check out. I think main advantage of this hotel are the reasonable check in and out times.

A good location, close to things to see in the city. The staff were friendly, particularly on the front desk. The only thing that was good in the hotel was the breakfast. The hotel is located in a poor district that does not seem very safe at night. There is a lateral entrance to the hotel that is not locked or monitored at night creating an unsafe environment. The hotel is far from everything.Some of the door locks did not work (although we had complained 3 times) The room was small and the bathroom was unpractical. The check out process was a pain because they came up with all kinds of last minutes taxes (real or imaginary?) The final price did not match what had been offered by Expedia. We paid because the employee was becoming threatening.

The hotel is modern but small. The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. The balcony’s are overrun with bugs and obviously are not swept as there are tons of dead bugs and webs. The breakfast was always cold, I guess they make it once and just leave it sitting there for three hours. W Front desk staff were very helpful. Overall not a hotel that I would stay here again there are many others to chose from that offer more value. This hotel is listed as 4 star yet there is no iron in the room, housekeeping is hit or miss, there were socks left on the floor from previous guest and surfaces were not clean. I had to use disinfecting wipes as surfaces were sticky.

I highly recommend BW City Hotel in Sofia. My room was in the renovated section and it was small but tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The front desk was always helpful and responsive. The hotel is in an excellent location, in walking distance to many of the city's sights The breakfast buffet includes a variety of choices and dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good.

Reception on arrival very good. Pleasant helpful staff. Room good with everything you might need. Parking rather expensive for an insecure car park ( anyone could walk in) but hotel also in a good central location. The cold offering at breakfast was excellent, the warm offer less so.
Downsides: one very surly barman who would be better suited to professions that don’t require contact with customers. Two, the apparent impossibility to get some ice at 21:45. It seems no one was willing to unlock the door to the bar to get to the ice machine. Anyhow I managed to overcome the obstacle, but they could have been more helpful.

I picked this hotel to be assured we would not have to look for a place for dinner since my husband has mobility issues. When I returned from a day out touring we were surprised to find the restaurant closed for a private party (wedding). The hotel offered us food in he lounge area which we accepted but it was a little uncomfortable to dine with people passing by constantly.

Upon pick up from the airport, I was informed that there was a problem with the room and they were unable to accommodate me; however, they have transferred my reservation to another nearby comparable hotel. A good bolt hole for Sofia

A comfortable hotel in a reasonably nice area. Reception staff were lovely and very helpful. Our group of 5 arrived earlier than check in time but the hotel were very accommodating with rooms. All rooms were clean, reasonably large and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful although the hot dishes were a bit hit and miss. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

They have a airport collection and drop off which was 32 euro return for two of us, well worth it to avoid hassle.

The hotel is located in the center of Sofia, the room was small, without glasses for toothbrushes, TV wasn't working, a soap in a tube in the bathroom was ended on the next day, without a big mirror in the room (only one near a table). Breakfast wasn't rich and almost without options for vegans despite the fact I asked to add them before my arrival. The transfer to an aeroport was expensive but convenient. There is a small parking area for guest too.

This hotel was a hop, skip and a jump from the Alexander Nevski Cathedral on one side, and a short walk to the central metro station the other. All the main city sites are accessible by foot really. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was modern and clean - felt like perhaps it was recently done up. In fact the whole place felt brand new. Breakfast was plentiful, delicious and in a spacious relaxed environment. We split our visit to Sofia with a trip to Istanbul and used this hotel at the start and end of our visit. Coming back felt like coming home.

Good location

The best three things about this hotel are the location, the cleanliness and the breakfast spread.
However, several things were amiss.
We booked and paid for a superior room but were given a double room. This can happen and would have been OK if when questioned the receptionist had not lied. She blatently stated that all the rooms were superior.....? Had she read the hotel web site?....It was obvious we had been down graded for a tour group.
The breakfast spread was good but there were no staff present to clear tables. Guests had to clear tables to make room and scrounge for their own cutlery. When staff did turn up an hour into breakfast time they were noticeably grumpy.
The room was good but the two bedside lights and room light appeared to be on the same switch away from the bed....awkward when one party wants to read and one wants to sleep.
All this was a pity because the rooms are nicely done and the location is perfect but I would not recommend this hotel to independent travellors.

We stayed for 2 nights and overall the hotel was good but there were a few things that should be improved. There were lamps in our bathroom that kept switching off, some cracked tiles, and the door handle to the bathroom door was so loose that once I ended up holding one part of it in my hand. If you get a room with a courtyard view, it's going to be an awful view. If you get a room with a street view, there will be window lamps switching off and on constantly. We don't know what the hotel management was trying to achieve with that light show. The breakfast buffet was good and plentiful. The reception staff was friendly.

Good Hotel for a Stay in Sofia

Quick and easy check-in and check-out with friendly staff. Breakfast was very good with a variety of items to choose from. Also a close walk to most sights in Sofia. Two areas of improvement would be to keep the crepes warm at breakfast, and use a little less airfreshner in the rooms - the highly fragrant smell lingered all day.

This Hotel was in a good location, not far from City Center/Alexander Nevski. The junior suite was comfortalbe and had wonderful views of the City from several directions. The food in the restaurant was excellent, and the breakfast buffet that was included was fantastic. The staff was very good as well. The lower ratings were for things like frayed towels in the bathroom (why?), a shower curtain/plastic partial door on the shower/tub combination that was visibly broken and allowed water all over the bathroom, and slightly shabby carpet in places. Overall, though, comfortable, convenient and pleasant.
