A comfortable hotel well located for touring the capital. It sits across from a park and the street is quiet. The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations. Breakfast is good though coffee service gets overwhelmed and though tasty, coffee is not terribly hot. The bar and lounge is quiet but service is great. The restaurant is comfortable with excellent service - the outside decking area is very pleasant.

I was able to venture around on foot to see the sights and enjoy some very delicious Bulgarian food (and even craft beer) - can't wait to return.

It is in the amazing location, in front of a park. In several minutes, you can walk to the cathedral, parliament, the University of Sofia (one block) and many cafes and restaurants. My trip was amazing! Everything the hotel offers: perfect location, very clean, new interior and facilities, outstanding service in all details, very friendly staff, luxury car transportation from/to the airport, a fitness facility, underground garage, bunch of excellent bars and restaurants around 3 to 8 minutes away (I would mention Grozd, Shtastlivetza, Chef's Live, Arbat). It is located in 5 - 10 minutes walk from the main touristic, historic, architectural and administrative focal points of the city. A nice garden or park is across the street. Finally, the hotel has an own restaurant with excellent drinks! The hotel is not large, offers good privacy and calm atmosphere: just downtown but quite silent.

A friend and I have been traveling for over a month in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey and Egypt. Some of our hotels were delightful and others left much to be desired. We didn’t know what to expect at this hotel in Sofia Bulgaria. It was our great pleasure to stay in the Crystal Palace. Our room was spacious, quiet, beautifully decorated, very clean and we noticed the hotel has great attention to details. The breakfast buffet is widely varied and exceptionally good. We ate in the restaurant one evening and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

I’ve stayed at the Crystal Palace twice and both stays were excellent. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the breakfast is very good, and it has one of the best locations in Sofia in a nice neighborhood right across from one of the city’s best parks. It’s also just a few minutes’ walk from the Alexander Nevsky cathedral and the St. Sofia Church.

I was prepared to write a most amazing review of this aspiring boutique hotel near Sofia center, but was disappointed with a surprise price hike upon check-in, though I had pre-paid through Expedia. The charge was 20 Euro for my wife, though their website confirmed that it is only a 7 Euro for 2nd adult, and even so, Expedia specified a lesser 5 Euro for 2nd adult. This was a non-breakfast reservation, and though we paid for a 2nd adult, we were still only provided a single set of towels & bathrobe.
The price that the staff assured me I would pay during check-in, including the 2nd adult extra charge of 7 Euro (as specified on their website), unfortunately, changed back to 20 Euro upon my check out. Manager didn’t even bother to call and talk to me but emailed me it wasn’t their fault. I had the car for not more than 4 hours and it didn’t have the hit by then. I had to communicate with the valley guy instead. Very poor management in this case. This would have been the perfect stay for my travels so far but unfortunately this disrespectful problem solving situation left a bad taste in my mouth.

Terrible experience - messed up our booking, were very rude about it and moved our belongings during our stay to a smaller room without telling us. We went out for the day, they packed all our staff (just shoving everything into plastic bags!) and moved it! Utterly unbelievable. They could not be bothered to call my mobile to ask us to move room!!! And they were incredibly arrogant and rude about the whole thing pretending they were in the right, despite me showing them the checkin form I signed on check in with the correct dates of our booking. They also claimed they did have no contact number for me, and they showed me a copy of the reservation - and there was my name and phone number right at the top! They did not even bother checking!!! Do not stay here - worst customer service I have ever experienced!

Despite the fact we had a reservation they moved our belongings to a different room for the last night without telling us! They were rude, claimed they had done nothing wrong...they packed our belongings randomly mixing clean and dirty clothes, shoved stuff in plastic bags and in our suitcases and moved them to a much smaller noisy room. They got the dates wrong and blamed us, we were out for the day on an organised tour and could not believe our eyes when we came back! When I asked why they had not called me they said they did not have my contact number because I had booked via Expedia and they don't share contact details with the hotel, this was a claim from the hotel manager on the phone because she was not in on a Saturday, the girl at reception was so arrogant she insisted showing me a copy of the booking they get from Expedia, and there right at the top of the page was my mobile number...she had not even bothered checking!! They then said the manager would call us to our room and she never did, this is the worst hotel experience we have ever had, in terms of standards, rudeness and attitude. Stay as far away as possible from this place, it will spoil your stays !

this hotel is in a great location. The rooms were clean, the staff was very hospitable and it was quiet. It is a quaint older hotel with charm. Derouge bar next-door with fun and the best place to go for a meal was at a place called \"FLY\", down the street. The hotel beds were comfortable, towels and sheets were soft. Can't complain at all as I spent a lot of time in the room and it was very cozy.
I enjoyed the spa and had an awesome massage. Breakfast food was so-so but had lunch in the bar one day and it was great.

I have tried most if not all the 4 and 5 stars in Sofia, Bulgaria so far in life. Crystal Palace offers an excellent, quiet boutique hotel atmosphere with very polite and helpful staff who speak Bulgarian and English fluently. The underground parking is easily accessible and free which is a huge bonus in Sofia.
The room was quite large (over 300 square feet) and it was very clean. Overall you could see the hotel is maintained regularly.

The hotel itself is in a great location, walkable to the major sites of Sofia as well as to nice cafes and restaurants. Had an executive room on the third floor facing the park. Although the furniture was abit dated, the bathroom had a great tub for soaking. All the staff I interacted with where nice and helpful. My only complaint would be with breakfast - eggs, hot meats (bacon/saugage) weren't hot or even warm. That was disappointing but there was a good variety of other options.

I travel on business to Sofia every two months. Having the breakfast included is a basic thing; charging 13eur extra for this is ridiculous considering local prices. Getting an iron to quickly do your shirts before a meeting is also a must-have; charging extra for laundry services instead us a bad alternative.

OK, I have been in different hotels in Eastern Europe so I know how they operate here. However, this hotel charges you for breakfast (approx 25 USD which is ok) but we did not get the proper food that we paid for. They served old/stale food and the choices are minimal (close to nothing) for the price that you paid for. The hotel quality is not great. I get different treatment from hotels in Asia and now Eastern Europe \"everytime\" I booked through Expedia??? If they do not like the price they get paid through your service, they should not be part of the program.

Consistent Internet access, noiseless and powerful air conditioning. Can you tell we were happy with this place? The only drawback was the additional charge for breakfast - which we didn't pay. So - we recommend breakfast at Modera a few doors down. Though they don't have \"breakfast\" per se, and don't start serving until 9, we found this combo a perfect breakfast to share: one serving of the waffles with whipped cream (like syrup!) and fruit - though I don't remember the Bulgarian name for the waffles - there are pictures - and one serving of the toast with cheese. Split between two, with coffees, this was a luxory breakfast at a low price.

Crystal Palace Hotel is located in a very nice neighbourhood called Doctor's Garden, overlooking a small park where lots of locals hang out. It's within walking distance from many famous places in Sofia. Breakfast is great. The food served in its restaurant is more than reasonable. It's also within close vicinity of quite a few good restaurants, e.g. Lomo, L'Instant and The Architect's Club. The room is big and nicely furnished. There's free wi-fi and a good gym on site. The only thing that's unusal is the missing safe in my room. For a 4-star hotel that tells its guests how to use the safe in its information booklet, the safe simply didn't exist in Room 106.
