The lady we met at the front desk the morning we woke up made up for the discomforts of non English speaking administrator on the phone the day before, the cigaret smell in the room etc as she was very friendly, good in English and helpful in every way. She deserves a raise of salary for sure! Thank you!

The staff was friendly and went out of their way to help when asked. I went home with mysterious insect bites all over my body. They don't look like mosquito bites, I can't be sure what they are. So for that fact alone I could not reccmmend this hotel. The facilities are quite shabby and the rooms dreary. But you can't expect a lot for this price. On cleanliness they really lacked, it looked as though a quick clean was all that was ever done.

Never again!!!

There was a gum on the floor, there was no paint on the walls, the toilet door was broken, the sink faucet stayed in my hand as I tried to release the tap. The balcony was built in the room, and the ceiling was covered not with bricks, but with something like glass from which you can see the landing birds and their excrements. You have the feeling that you are sleeping in a pigeon-loft.

Nice to stay in center Sofia

Good-Clean spacious room with good location. walking distance to Serdika and most of attractions in Sofia.
Bad-I stayed in the top floor and very noisy due to pigeons on the roof. Tabs in the basin were dropped whenever I turned them on/off.
Trivia-The landlady was not that friendly, and took a slow action, but offered what I wanted.

Stay away from this horrible place.

Never in my life have I stayed in such a horrible hotel. Trust me I've been unlucky enough to stay in bad hotels but this wins the trophy for the worse hotel ever.

Let's start... when I arrived the lady at the front desk told us that we didn't have a reservation so I was surprised to hear this. Anyways, she asked us to wait while she figured something out. 30 minutes later she said she's going to give us a room to wait in while she works something out. She puts us in a room, then I phone Hotels.com to let them know what's going on. Surprisingly hotels.com says that the hotel found the reservation.

The room is horribly decorated and looks NOTHING like the pictures. When I booked my room, it seemed pretty modern looking but the room we got was maybe form the 1900s. The shower head was broken and it splashed water everywhere! No curtains either, the bathroom was tiny, the bathroom door was cracked, the room did not have A/C but luckily the lay who checked us in, who was very nice by the way, she offered us the fan from the reception. I was seriously thinking on leaving that same night and go to another hotel but we were exhausted as we had been traveling for 7 hours and we arrived late at night. The next day we asked for a new room but a different lady refused and lied to us stating the whole hotel was booked, yet many websites listed rooms available for the night. I don't think I've ever experienced such horrible stay. This place needs to be remodeled ASAP! I overpaid.

We had a long layover and stayed for one night and day in Sofia. The location of this hotel is not a nice area for walking or sight seeing. The women running the front desk were minimally responsive to our questions, we are unsure if this was a communication or cultural barrier. Coffee and tea are charged extra. The rooms are fine, but not in exceptional condition. The owner picked us up from the airport and charged nearly double what our return cab cost, leaving us feeling as if we had been scammed by him. Having traveled five continents, Bulgaria and this hotel were the least welcome we have ever felt. Overall, with this hotel, you get what you pay for; it's adequate.

Basic but nice. Stayed six nights small bathroom. Staff were pleasant and approachable. About 10/15 mins walk from centre, so location was good.

You may do better

It was a little bit out of the way from the main attractions but quite good for public transport. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. As budget hotels go it was in good condition, but houes keeping was very poor

Great value hotel, close to main station

Pop Bogomil exceeded my expectations given price. Its a 10-15 minute walk to city centre and close to the central station which makes for a speedy arrival or handy for departue.
There are a couple of really good cafes nearby for breakfast if you dont eat breakfast at the hotel.
I only booked for my first night as my train arrived at 10.30pm, but stayed there for the duration of my stay in sofia.

Cheap, well-placed, excellent value

Good hotel - among the very cheapest in Sofia. While the facilities are fairly basic, they are as stated and fine for the great value.
Friendly staff, room cleaned daily.
Location is great - attractions are within 10 minutes walk (20 in the snow). Metro 5-10 minutes away. A well stocked, 24-hr small supermarket around the corner, restaurants of various kinds within 10 minutes walk, a bar within 5 minutes.
The hotel is quiet - not problems with noise either outside or in, and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep.
TV has three channels in English.
The only grumbles is that the room was a little cold (it was -15 outside, to be fair, but a another, cheaper hotel I stayed in that week was warmer!) but there was ample bedding for this to not be a problem when sleeping.
I would not that the drapes/curtains were not blackout ones, as stated, but this was not a problem.

Good if you are on a budget

Last minute booking following a missed connection, but a great value, comfortable budget hotel. It is an easy walk from the Metro station and there is a small shop just round the corner for food.

Train/Bus station is a 5 minute walk

The hotel is not too far away (5-10 minute walk) from the Train/Bus station and 10-15 minute walk to the historic part of town. The room had clean sheets and hot water, which are basic requirements. There were 2 TV stations in English. The TV was probably a late 1990's model. The bed could have used a couple more slats underneath though. The hotel was close enough to the center and the staff was friendly.

within 10-15 mins walking distance to the centre/parliament. but the walk can be dark at night time. hotel is at one of the side lane. the rooms are built behind the main reception area after a small path through the garden, it is quiet otherwise but isolated. would not say it is a 'hotel'.

clean room, towel, shampoo, soap provided. wireless provided for free as promised. no coffee or tea in the morning because the machine was broken during my stay.

Very friendly - also german-speaking - staff. Individually furnished rooms, mine was a bit out-dated though. Many coffee-shops, bars & restaurants where one would not expect it.

La posizione dell'hotel è strategica: 10 minuti di camminata per arrivare in centro, 5 minuti per raggiungere la fermata della metro. Intorno all'albergo ci sono negozi di alimebtari, tabaccai e panetterie.
La pulizia della camera lascia molto a desiderare: negli angoli era pieno di polvere e briciole, ho trovato capelli raccolti nella vasca da bagno, il rubinetto del lavandino peedeva acqua e schizzava ovunque, inoltre intorno alla vasca da bagno c'era la muffa.
Il personale era ok anche se un po' freddino in fatto di costumer care.
Raccomando questo hotel per la posizione e se non vi lasciate intimidire dalla sporcizia nelle camere.

L'albergo si trova in ottima posizione, 10minuti dal centro, 10 minuti dalla stazione centrale dei bus e treni.
L'albergo è particolarmente datato. Per la nostra concezione di pulizia, qui è molto superficiale. Il pavimento è coperto da moquette vecchissima, la stanza aveva un odore di chiuso. La camera in 3 notti non è stata mai rifatta o pulita. Si sono limitati ad aggiungere la saponetta. Il lenzuolo di sotto era piccolo, copriva a malapena il materasso. Comunque sentendo gli altri italiani che erano in vacanza li', questo tipo di albergo (dove si paga pochissimo) è tipico. Sono tutti cosi'. Cosa positiva il materasso non era sfondato ed il personale veramente gentile.

Ich war für eine Nacht hier da ich spät in Sofia gelandet bin und am nächsten Tag gleich mit dem Zug vom Hauptbahnhof in Sofia weiterfahren wollte. Dafür es perfekt. Sehr sauber und freundliches Personal.

ブルガリア人がいわゆるホスピタリティを感じさせない国民性のせいか、レセプションの女性はゲストのリクエストに応えることが無く、すべてオーナーに相談すると言ってしゃくし定規な対応しかできない人でした。ホテルはブルガリア人のリピーターが多い感じで外国人はあまり歓迎していないようでした。

All in all I'm very happy with the hotel. Low price, good location, nice room. A few things to be aware of though: There was no power plug in the bathroom. There was no air conditioner, but the room had a pleasant temperature anyway. There was no mini bar. I'm not sure how to lock the door to the room, it didn't seem to lock automatically.

Eine sehr gute, sichere, saubere Pension

Ich habe meinen Aufenthalt (10 Tage) in dieser Pension sehr genossen. Sie ist direkt im Stadtzentrum gelegen, in einer ruhigen Seitenstraße. Das Zimmer war sehr ruhig und sehr sauber, sowie auch ansprechend eingerichtet. Die Zimmer werden täglich sehr gut gereinigt. Handtücher werden ebenfalls täglich gewechselt. Die Betten werden, wenn ich mich recht erinnere, alle 2 oder 3 frisch bezogen. Da ich öfter in Sofia bin, werde ich auf jeden Fall wieder diese Pension buchen.

God beliggenhed

Pop Bogomil ligger måske ikke i Sofias bedste kvarter, men hotellet er hyggeligt og personalet søde og hjælpsomme. Værelserne er ikke store, men meget rene og sikkerheden i orden. Fra hotellet er der omkring 10 minutters gang til centrum, og i området findes der både cafeer, restauranter og supermarkeder. Hotellet ligger desuden i gåafstand fra busstationen, der forbinder Sofia til resten af Bulgarien samt internationale destinationer.
