Decent, not bad.

The hotel was decent. The condition and the cleanliness was quite good. We had an aircon in the room that you couldn't really feel but the maintenance guy wasn’t around so they offered to change rooms for us. The service was also ok… as in they weren’t there when you called for something but they did call back 15 mins later.

I didn’t enjoy the breakfast though, it just wasn’t good… and the eggs had a bad smell.

Overall, i’d say an ok score for a 3 star hotel. But it wasn’t bad.

Great hotel for overnight stay with family.
We were given a suite as we were 4 people.
Modern room(s), with spacious bathroom, Lumene shampoo and conditioner and shower gel provided.

The only minus was no A/C ( we were there in the middle of a heatwave). There is a control panel for inside temp but you couldn’t make the room very cool, though I’m sure heating won’t be an issue.
We also found the pillows huge and hard, though this is a personal preference of course.

Breakfast was ok and included in the price.
You pay for parking in their garage at the automat when you are leaving. This was straight forward and no issues with paying with card.
Around 10 minutes drive from the airport it is great value if you need a place to stay in the neighbourhood.

Excellent Choice for Short Stay

This hotel has a great location at right next to Tikkurila railway station where you can catch a local train to Helsinki airport (about 10 mins journey) and to central Helsinki (about 15 - 20 mins journey). I had an extremely spacious room even though I had a booked a 'basic' single occupancy. My room was super clean and had all amenities you could wish for; a kettle for coffee / tea, a free bottle of wine, a minibar (charged), bathrobe and slippers and plenty of goodies in a bathroom.

There is a restaurant as well as a pub right off the main reception and also a night club with live music played on Saturday evenings. It's live music and can be heard in bedrooms.

Service at the front reception as well as restaurants were friendly as efficient (as you would expect in Finland).

I would warmly recommend Sokos Hotel Vantaa for a short stay in Helsinki area.

Not worth it.

Serious levels of dust on the furniture, especially on the TV furniture. Really poor level of cleaning.
Stayed there for 2 nights, my room was not cleaned during my stay - because of Covid19 they claimed. Fail to see how that should keep anyone safer. And there was no information about this, only found out when I called them.

For wake-up calls I had to call the reception +5 times both evenings before anyone picked up the phone.

I am not going to stay there again.

A great choice if you are in Vantaa

If you are on this side of town, then Sokos is a good choice. While the room isn't huge, it's clean, on the newer side and the staff was friendly and accomodating. The break fast was a treat, and though it wasn't cook to order, it was well stocked with a variety of fresh fruits and fixings.

Very convenient

It was very convenient as I was there for business and the event I was attending was at the Vernissa Culture Centre just 150m away. The breakfast buffet was nice and with a variety of food (fruit, cereal, bread, eggs, sweet pasties, coffee, tea....) wifi worked well, room was big enough and bathroom too. The food from the Mexican restaurant Amarillo was nice and I also went to the pub and even had a karaoke night. It was a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful providing directions and train times.

Have been staying at this hotel on business for a number of years
Good location near airport with train station 100mtrs away
However it has not changed in all the years I have been visiting and looking tired
Same breakfast, same restaurant with same menu
As a business customer I normally add food and drinks to my bill and pay at end . They have now introduced that drinks need to be paid straight away
So my food bill gets added to my bill but the drink I had accompanying my meal had to be paid separately
Staff are always very nice

Truly old and tired interiors and ghastly meat grill restaurant. Rooms are spartan and feel run down. Honestly don't know how this hotel has maintained a '4 star' rating.

Great staff, room was clean and we'll presented. The included breakfast was incredible. High quality food with lots of variety.
Travelling with my dog was also a breeze with a welcome bag of treats and waste bags.

One of the best of a very average bunch locally

Having stayed in most of the hotels in the Vantaa area, this place highlights how poor most of them are to be honest, there's nothing homely about any of them compared with their UK counterparts. I struggle to pinpoint what's so unpleasant about them all. There's an unpleasant ambient odour in all the rooms in all the hotels, i'm not unconvinced it's the laundry, bedsheets, towels etc, the aroma from a little fabric conditioner wouldn't go amiss, there's no carpet in any of the rooms, it all adds up. Anyway, this hotel, the staff are first class, the rooms do differ with each other, I have stayed in rooms with and without a fridge for example, some require key card to switch lights on, the Wi-fi is good, the showers give you a good soaking at the same temperature, the morning coffee tastes like coffee should but those damned trains are such a nuisance.

Having stayed at almost all hotels in Vantaa, I think this one is now my favourite but by no means ideal. It was very warm in the room, there's no way of cooling it down besides opening the window. The trains run every few seconds at certain times of the day!

Noisy and little sleep.

The music from the hotel bar was very loud and could be heard in the room making it difficult to sleep; I was only able to sleep about 2 hours. Our room looked like it had been broken into with a crowbar and nothing was really done to fix the appearance; my instinct is that it was due to a medical emergency. The hotel was conveniently next to the train station but there was a lot of construction which made getting there with luggage a bit difficult. If I need to catch a flight in the future and need to be near the airport I will not stay here again.

Family visit to Finland

We have stayed here several times over eight years. It looks very shabby and needs updating. Rooms are of a good size but they could be cleaner and it had no tea or coffee / kettle / free bottled water or a safe. Situated well for rail and bus links to airport and Helsinki. A good choice of breakfast and a couple of bars in the hotel, but very expensive drinks. Not worth it's four star rating. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Hotel refurbishment needs more work

I use this hotel regularly for its proximity to the airport, good transport connections and surrounding restaurants and bars. Over time Sokos has spent money on refurbishment and but it still has not tackled the restaurant and bars. Nor do I understand room 540 which I was allocated. It's a disabled room but if I were disabled I wonder how I could have jumped over the desk jammed up against the bed to get to sleep! Must try harder

Great place to stay but don't order a drink

Great stay with the exception of the restaurant. Order a Margaritta that came out in a martini glass with about a shot of tequila and lime juice in it for 8 Euro. The food was good once it came but took almost an hour to get to us and when it did the portions were extremely small but tasty.

Good for the station

Sokos Hotels in Finland are always good, pleasant and efficient: if you've stayed in one you will know what the other hotels are like. This one is right next to the train station at Tikkurila, and it's therefore a useful place if you're arriving late at night from the airport and then going off by train in the morning.

Was close to catch the train to Helsinki. Was further from the airport than we thought. They did give us some coffee, sandwiches and orange juice in the foyer as we had to leave on an early flight this was very nice. Not far to walk for meals there are the usual take aways like subway, and McDonalds.

Take bus # 61 or 61v from airport to end of line, has no shuttle. About 8km from airport but transfer is easy and cheap. Very nice park nearby for jogging, also lots of stuff if you have kids like science museum and playgrounds. Supermarket and movie theater walking distance, easy transfers into helsinki also. Sauna is a little funky but staff were nice, breakfast was great, and overall good experience. A little pricey but I think that's just Helsinki. Would stay here again.

Convenient to airport and train for city center

Probably over paid some at $150 a night including tax but you do get a decent breakfast included. Bed was ridiculous. Two twins and not that comfortable. Felt like I was back in 70s. I would request a bigger bed. Make sure you ask for a quiet room as the nightclub and bars get loud late into the night on weekends.

Not an Airport Hotel

The hotel was nice and I have no complaints with it but it was quite a distance from the airport which is not always indicated on travel web sites. There is no hotel shuttle but there is a bus. It is a 27 euro cab ride from the airport.
The room was comfortable, very clean and the staff was very helpful. Breakfast was typical and good.

On the whole a good business hotel

Stayed for one night on a thursday night - Room was perfectly adequate and close to the airport area with good links to Helsinki centre via the train next door.

Wireless in rooms was good speed. The hotel also had a Gym which had a decent range of equipment, although there were no staff around in case of any questions if you didn't know what you were doing. There was a sauna available free of charge to hotel gueses too.

Food wise the only option was the mexican restaurant in the hotel, which I wouldn't recommend. The service was slow and the food wasn't great. If you stay and want to eat, I suggest looking around the local area. It was late when I ate, otherwise I would have left after waiting so long for a salad to arrive!

There are four bars in the hotel and on the thursday night I stayed there was Karaoke in one primarily with Finnish songs, one general bar, a third with a dance floor and live band with older style tunes, and a nightclub downstairs, which although quiet seemed friendly enough, although it does stay open until the 2am/4am mark! I had to get up the following day so didn't stay ;-)

Breakfast was a good selection of continental and hot food,

Overall, i'd stay here again, but would source alternative food options in the evening.

Everything was first rate for me, except the bed was a bit softer than I like. The breakfest buffet was in the top 5% I've ever had. The hotel is super close (less than 200 meters) to both bus and rail transportation to and from the airport and Helsinki itself. Enjoy!

I am very disappointment an incident that happened to me. I have guests to come over see me at night for disco night. I understood that my guests were not allowed to come in when I was told by security officer. However, I paid for my guests to come in for disco time but i got refund and my guests have to wait outside and then security let other people to pay for their friends and come in before my guests. This is unacceptable to me because i felt that I was not treat as a guest in the hotel.

Worked great for us!

We reserved this hotel online, hoping it was reasonably close to the airport. We were delighted to find it was across the street from the station, and a short 8 euro cab ride to the airport. We had reserved a room for two twin beds, but at the last minute had our daughter and her baby with us. The hotel was quick to furnish us with a crib and an extra mattress which was perfect. The breakfast was wonderful and we were completely pleased and surprised. We will be staying here on future trips to visit our daughter and family in Finland.

Arkena hotelli oli oikein hyvä, viikonloppuna ei. Vaikka huone oli kaukana hisseistä, kuului yökerho/keikka huoneeseen todella lujaa. Äänieristys huoneiden välillä oli myös todella huono. Osa matkaajista on työssäkäyviä ja naapurihuoneen lätkäöyhöttäjät sekä yökerhon jumputus saivat harkitsemaan hotellin vaihtoa omakustanteisesti yöllä.

Pidimme käynnistä~ sijainti oli junilla matkustamisen ja syömisen kannalta mainio! Ruokapaikkoja oli lähellä niin paljon, että oli hankala valita parin päivän reissulle mitä kokeilla xD

Päädyimme syömään hotellin alakerran Rosso Pizza:ssa - nam! Harmi ettemme asu lähempänä. Muuten kävisimme useammin xD

Ainoa asia oli se, että huoneessa oli vähän liian lämmin - yöllä oli hankala nukkua.

Parantamisen varaa

Lasten leikkihuone kesän aikana oli mukava plussa. Allergeenejä ei aamupalalla oltu merkitty, josta iso miinus. Uusi `konsepti` on, ettei niitä merkitä, vaan pyydettäessä kerrotaan. Noh, ensimmäinen työntekijä ei niistä tiennyt mitään, eikä hakenut toista paikalle. Kysyimme sitten itse toiselta, joka oli avulias ja tiesi.
Huoneen kylpyhuone kaipaisi remonttia. Muu huone oli remontoitu kyllä ja ilmastointi toimi hyvin.

Kylpyhuoneessa kylpypyyhkeille ei ollut paikkaa mihin laittaa ne. Pyyhetanko liian matalalla, jos siihen laittaa pyyhkeet ei tasolla voi pitää mitään tavaroita. Pikkupyyhenaulakot liian alhaalla tai pyyhkeet liian pitkiä. Lattiakaivokaato suihkutilassa olematon, vesi valui ulos.
Harmaanmusta huoneen lattia todella synkkä.
