Enjoyed my two week stay at Scandic Kallio. Staff was highlight: Smiling Alyssa in the breakfast room along with great colleagues; Mark, Asa, and the cleaning crew were great and helpful: Front desk all friendly and professional.
Enjoyed sauna, good ac on hot days. Will return!

Die Zimmer ( 8 Etage ) ist nicht so schön für mich , Zimmer sind wie eine Zelle, aber ausreichend .

Staff was outstanding, both personable and helpful. And the breakfast layout and food quality was very good. Room was small but clean and in very good condition. I am a walker and got to city center easily that way, though trams went right by the hotel, and Uber made a very quick pickup when I used it to get to the airport. The only thing that I would have liked otherwise is a gym.

This hotel is far from the Helsinki city center! You will have to take a 30 minute tram ride to get to where most would go in the city! Be prepared to spend taxi and tram money!

I would highly recommend staying somewhere else if you are coming to the Finnish capitol as a tourist or for business! The front desk staff found it amusing when I pointed this out!

A tidy hotel

A tidy hotel, exactly as you would expect from a Scandic. Well located just outside the main city centre. Room and shower room were very clean. Breakfast was good but felt crowded, particularly in Covid times.

Have stayed here before and will again I hope. Hotel staff are lovely, area is great for cheap drinking and eating and hotel itself is clean and well located.

I found the staff helpful and English speaking,the room and bathroom were small.there was no kettle in the room and none supplied unless you were in a superior room,Breakfast very good but cramped seating area.30min walk to centre,trams good and stop outside.be advised the hotel is a couple of streets away from stripclubs and massage parlours and is in an area where students are located.basically you get what you paid for.it has also been refurbished.

Good place to stay, in an interesting Kallio area. City center (aka Railway Station) is in 30 min walk, which is a pleasant walk to take if you are a tourist. Good breakfast included.

The room and bathroom were quite small, but as soon as you are not planning to spend the whole day in a hotel, it should be fine.

Basic hotel, a tram ride from the sights and city

This hotel is OK. It's a tram ride from the sights.
The decor in the room I stayed in was plain and tired. And the bathroom /shower room tiny. There was limited hanging space. The room safe didn't work and was not fixed when I reported it but reception were able to store things for me in their safe.
The staff were helpful always.
Breakfast was pretty good and there was plenty to choose from.
The area around the hotel isn't particularly exciting...
If I went to helsinki again I'd look for a hotel closer to the sights.

Pleasant hotel and staff, close to town and tram.
They didn’t replace tea bags and there was no milk but we could get it from reception. You could pick up English breakfast tea bags at breakfast though!
Breakfast very good.
I would recommend it.

Perhaps on a normal summer it would be OK but the air conditioning was not up to the task during the heat wave. The shower cabin is really small, but, overall, you get what you pay for.

the rooms did not match the advertised photos at all. they were clean but very tired. most of the lamps in the room did not work. Very few electrical plugs. Hadn't been painted in ages. also no air conditioning except in the lobby and breakfast area and we stayed during a heat wave in Helsinki. no fans. complementary breakfast was good, and staff was helpful.
Several trams stop at the property, so getting downtown was easy, but it can be noisy as the trams run frequently and during the night.

The first hotel I stayed with no electric kettle, coffee and tea supply. Room doors not closing softly which means shaking and banging noise can be heard every morning - very disturbing!

We will be back!

This hotel is one of a few budget options in Helsinki with a 24 hr reception desk. It is on a tram route and is conveniently located. The staff is exceptional. The breakfast is great.

Pleasant place to stay

The hotel was clean and comfortable.
Location is easy: a short (10 min) tram ride to the central station - #3 tram, which stops right outside the hotel and runs every few minutes. This means easy access to everything Helsinki has to offer.
Would be happy to stay here again.

It was good value for money by Helsinki standards. The hotel is modest compared to other Cumulus ones. The breakfast room was cramped and breakfast was a bit chaotic. Tram 3 stops outside, although a fit person unburdened by luggage could walk from the city centre. The area is unexciting but not grotty.

Bad experience!!!'

When I tried to check in, I was told that there was no room for me even though I had the guaranteed booking. They said the hotel was fully booked and had to transfer me to another hotel under the same brand. They said they had tried to send me an email informing me on the day that I was supposed to check in. I had never received that \"email\". I had never been to Finland before. This was not definitely not a good first impression.

Really disappointed in the quality of this place. For the price, I did not expect to essentially be back in a college dorm room. It is extremely sparse, bed is not comfortable, room is absolutely tiny, bathroom is so small that I could wash my hands while on the toilet, cleaning service never came in to clean my room. Location is out of the way--25 minutes on a tram to get to the main touristy areas. Front desk is not particularly helpful, pretty misinformed. Would not stay here again.

I visited Helsinki to attend Tuska Festival - this hotel was walking distance from the festival site so was ideal. Breakfast buffet included featuring rye porridge which I'd not had before but rather liked. Room was quite small but included a comfy chair, good lighting and a separate shower rather than a wet room arrangement. Staff were very friendly.

Great buffet breakfast, although can be a little crowded at peak time. Rooms were basic, but clean and functional, so everything one needs for business travel. Hotel is in Kallio, nice area that walking distance to downtown and on the trolley line.

\"Inexpensive\" hotel in Helsinki

Hotels in Helsinki are quite expensive. This one was more reasonably priced. The room and bathroom are fairly small, but that wasn't an issue for me even though I am a tall guy. The people at the desk were helpful with directions and advice on what buses or boats to choose. Breakfast was a combination between hot food and continental buffet. I don't get carrot yogurt or ice cream for breakfast but the bread, cheese, and pastries were amazing. My favourite of all was the sauna. Please extend the sauna hours!

Forgot money and it was untouched!!

I had a pleasant stay. The really remarkable thing was that I left over $800 in cash behind by accident (not in the safe. I called when I realized from the airport on my layover, they said they would look. I called back and they found the money untouched. Wow, that's amazing. Really convenient from the main train station, take the 3 tram right to the front door. Good value for the money, small European rooms but clean and constantly hot water. Has a suana in the hotel and a bar connected along with a very decent breakfast. No wifi problems at all and decent TV station selection, double pane windows so quiet. I went in April 2017. I will be going back.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Both the front desk and the dining room staff were welcoming.

Room was typically small. Nice touches: small room safe; comfortable chair with ottoman.

Breakfast was particularly good. While it had the typical cold cuts, breads, yogurt, coffee/tea/juice, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, etc, it had some unusual touches: fruit smoothies; a FROZEN YOGURT machine; a small selection of gluten free foods.

LOCATION - a couple of miles/km to city center but easily reachable by tram. The location was convenient ot Hartwall Arena which was where I needed to go (2.5 km; single bus or 30 min walk). The hotel is also just 2 streets away from the very nice KESKUSPUISTO, (Central Park) which I ran in 3 tmes during my stay.

Huoneen vessa ja kylpyhuone haisi erittäin voimakkaasti, voimakas pistävä hometyyppinen haju. Vaikka pidimme vessan oven kiinni, niin yön aikana kurkku kutisi ja nenät tukkoisia molemmilla. Huone oli 204.

Sänky oli vieläkin mukava, aamupala vieläkin hyvää ja sijainti on sopiva jos menee keikalle Helsingin jäähalliin tai Kulttuuritaloon. Ainoa miinus on että hotellin sisäänkäynti on erittäin pimeä joten ensikertalaisena voi olla vaikea nopeasti löytää sisään.

Sisäänkäyntiä ei meinannut huomata ja juuri se oli vähän rähjäinen. Hotellin valomainos terassin puoleisella seinällä saanut pahan kolhun ehkä jo talvella ja vielä korjaamatta. Aamiaiselle yksi iloinen naistarjoilija piti koko Katri Helenan konsertin jälkeistä \"kaaosta\" pystyssä avuliaisuudellaan ja ystävällisyyydellään. Aamiainen oli hyvä.

Helt fint hotell, frokosten var god og alle ansatte var hyggelige. Hotellet ser slitent ut på utsiden, men det er fint og nytt på innsiden. Det eneste negative var at badene var utrolig små, det var ikke engang plass til å sette fra seg toalettmappe der.

When visiting Linnanmäki, this place is excellent value for money! Five-ten minute walk from here, you will find the lovely amusement park

Das zummer hatte eine Balkon, der sehr weit in den Raum gereicht hatte. Dadurch war es sehr schwierig die 2. Bettseite zu erreichen zumal der Fernseher auch noch in dem schmalen Gehweg hing. Das Zimmer war für bleibtere Personen def. nicht geeignet.
