It's a weird but great little hotel, provided you read what it is and have reasonable expectations. It's shared bath, and the rooms are sparse but clean and comfortable. For the price you pay, it's more than fair. Don't book it for your romantic get away, but if you want a good price on a great location and the room is just a place to sleep. It's perfect.

This is a good place for a budget stay in the middle of the city.
The hotel is very basic. The rooms are very basic. One has to realize that this hotel is consists of maybe 8-10 rooms on the 5th floor of a building. Rooms do not have toilets/showers. So, when booking one has to be aware of this. It is a single floor of a building! It has two very small toilets for men/women. It has a shower that would be a shower of a typical home. It has a small kitchen, with a normal size fridge, a sink, a small dinner table, a stove, ...
The location is very central.
The lady at the reception was terrific. She was warm, welcoming, smily, helpful. Thanks Galina for your hospitality.

Older property on the fifth floor of the building. Some quirkiness due to age, but great central location and a tram stop literally right outside the door of the building. I had an emergency when my original lodging was cancelled hours before check-in, and Senate Hotel was able to accommodate me at very short notice.

It was very central to Helsinki City centre a 8 min stroll to centre shops & restaurant /cafes.
Plus a fair price, not overly expensive,
Only thing was the shared bathroom & shower facilities are shared for all rooms I think.
But that's a small price to pay for a clean tidy room at half the price of similar hotels in Helsinki, plus there's a cool Kereoke bar on street level open till 4am popular with local Helsinki party goers.

The room was smelt on old furniture, the bed was uncomfortable and the room was cold, no heating on 5 centigrade, she brought us a heater when I asked for, and after two nights we left the hotel without compensation.I wouldn not reccomend it

The hotel has a charming old world atmosphere. It is very central with lots of shops or historic buildings to see. Was prrfect for my needs. Perfect for the independent traveller.
If you want to be waited on hand and foot this is not the place for you.

The site is close to City Center where the railway station & shopping facilities are within walking distance. I was shocked to find out not only the place is locked with sign written “business hours are from 14:00-22:00. When calling with the listing #. No one answers the phone, & door bell . I, with a big luggage & medium size back Pack. Had to find ways to stay from 10:00 until 14:00 when the door opens.

It’s unattended between hours 14-21.

Good location.
They don’t make it obvious when booking that you can only arrive between hours 14-21. Other than that time it’s unattended. So if you are arriving later at night, too bad, you’re on the street and they keep your money.

Pretty good for cheap, but bring your own soap

I found the room's comfort level to be fine, though I imagine that some customers would have found the beds uncomfortable. My only real complaint is the lack of soap and/or shampoo provided.

A word of caution

When I made the booking, I was charged immediately by the hotel (whereas most hotels charge you AFTER checking in). However, on the day I went to check-in, the \"hotel\" was closed when I arrived around 11:20 pm. Because they don't have any after hour service. The problem is, I was NOT informed of this limited services when I made the booking nor when I receive the bill upon reservation.

As a tourist in a new city, I had to spend money (a hefty taxi bill and last minute booking at another hotel) and time to find accommodation for the night. What is more unacceptable is, when went to book online for that night of stay, this hotel STILL showed up as an option to book for that night. What a way to deceive people.

I am filing a refud request with Hotels.com. Let's hope they address this.

Regarding the hotel, I would highly caution regarding booking at this place.

Great value - get directions before you arrive

It's on the 5th floor of an apartment block, and not easy to find. It's clean and comfortable and excellent value. It's about 10-15 Euros cab fare from the railway station. Free WiFi is limited - I got messages like \"Another device is using this IP address - try later\".

Basic cheap stay. Was relatively clean. Had to pay 5euros to keep luggage at hotel on the day we checked out and it wasn't even secured. It seems like the standard around here in Scandinavia. Poor customer service and shared bathroom facilities with one shower. I would stay again as it was clean and cheap.

Not a hotel!

We arrived early at 9am expecting that the room would not be available for check-in. Hotels, however, have staff on hand to allow guests to enter the building and most, if not all, provide luggage storage until check in. There was no staff on hand and we had to wait until 11am for staff to show up so that we could drop off our luggage and get on with our day in Helsinki.

Convenience and basic comfort with an edge

The hotel was incredibly well located- only minutes walk from top sightseeing spots and local fresh food market. Check in was easy, even for a friend who joined us after check in hours. Staff werer friendly, but not easily accessible. Rooms were basic, and toilets/shower were clean. Communal kitchen area offered free tea/coffee as biscuits, as well as basic kitchen ammenities. Communal balcony also very cute! If you're looking for a no frills, convenient short stop, this is a great option.

Don't be late, or you'll lose ALL your money!

My flight was delayed so the door was locked when I arrived. I lost the money for that night's stay AND all the money I paid for the rest of my reservation. All in all, showing up after 10 PM the first night cost me 630 Euros.

Overall, a good experience:).

Solo getaway in Heldinki.
The hotel was nice. A bit non-obvious in the beginning because this was a converted apartment into a hotel. It was on the top floor and you had to go through residential floors to get there.
If you can get over some specifics such as having to share a shower and the bathroom, other things equal, it was a pretty good stay.
The details were taken care of. For example there was a converter on the main plug on the room so given that I was traveling internationally it was a plus that I did not have to untangle mine out of my bag. There was a sink in the room, so although not a bathroom you could wash your face/teeth, etc. In the room before heading to the corridor.
The bathroom was really clean. I appreciate that being away from home. The shower had shampoos and you get a towel, which makes this a hotel experience (you don't feel like in a hostel where you have to carry your own shampoo/towel which is difficult if you're carrying only a hand luggage (the airport security will confiscate shampoos).
And when you wake up in the morning there's coffee and biscuits waiting for you in the kitchen. And they are free. This is perfect if you're on the run to go check out the city as I was.
Tip: there is a ring at the outside of the main floor door. If you ring it, this is connected to the hotel person (who actually stays in one of the rooms). He will come out and help you.

I wouldn't consider this a hotel, but rather a motel.

Trevlig ställe, lätt känna sig hemma.

Trevlig vistelse i denna gammaldags möblerad apartment. Träffade några trevliga medresenärer där. Lugn atmosfär.
Sulle varit trevligt att ha en liten flekt i rummet åtminstone under dessa extremt varma dagar/ nätter som det råkade vara när jag var där.
En sak jag borde ha sagt i expeditionen var att ducshreglage funkade inte. Det gick inte att ha svalt vatten utan nästsn bara brännhet. Reglaget borde bytas.

Karaokerestaurang på gatuplan huset brevid tyckte var trevlig. Stack in några gånger för att lyssna en stund när folk sjöng.
Gångavstånd till allt.Trevligt att dricka morgonkaffet på torget och fortsätta promenaden via Esplanad som var dekorerat fint med blomster arrangemang.

Es sollte angemerkt werden, dass dies kein Hotel ist. Es ist eher so etwas wie ein Hostel mit Einzelzimmern und keinem Personal ab einer bestimmten Uhrzeit
Location: Perfekt, Alles downtown ist zu Fuss erreichbar
Sauberkeit: Für das Alter der Unterkunft ok
Unterkunft: Sehr in die Jahre gekommen (als Beispiel der Aufzug ist von 1920), überall Wasserflecken und andere Altersflecken sichtbar. Leider sehr hellhörig.
Küche: Ist für Alle offen jedoch direkt neben Zimmer
Mein Zimmer: Sehr klein, Fenster auf den \"Raucherbalkon\" ohne richte Vorhänge zum zu machen

Alles Ansicht, war es billig für Helsinki, gut für eine Nacht, aber mehr als schlafen würd ich da nicht

Ibland har man en dålig dag och mannen i receptionen hade nog det. Var ungefär som att bli inkvarterad på en ny arbetsplats med en chef som inte tror på en. Jag förväntar mig inget spektakulärt för 60 euro men jag har bott bättre för halva den pengen

Gammeldags och omodernt men gillar man det så är det väldigt mysigt. 5 våningar upp och dit tar du dig med en gammal trähiss som knarrar. Ligger rätt bra till, nära till tunnelbana och spårvagn. Inte ett ställe jag kommer bo på igen

Enganação!!!

Um absurdo!!! Fiz reserva pra minha irmã se hospedar, como o vôo dela chegava fora do horário do check-in fui até o hotel pra avisar e realizar o check-in por ela, chegando lá ninguém me atendeu e fui embora. Quando minha irmã chegou, foi pro meu hotel e passou a noite comigo. No dia seguinte retornamos ao hotel para realizar o check-in e novamente não havia ninguém, ficamos lá por 2h e ninguém apareceu, subimos porque algum morador abriu mas só haviam hóspedes e eles não conseguiam nos ajudar. Vimos que havia um quarto vago mas com nome e reserva de outra pessoa então fomos embora e fizemos contato com o hoteis.com e estamos até agora sem respostas. Hoje dia 28/07 ainda estou sem hotel em Helsinki e sem retorno do hostel e do site!!! Um absurdo completo, fui enganada... quero meu dinheiro de volta!!!

The idea was just to have a sleep with reasonable price in suitable location, so in this meaning it was just supergood choice. The entrance (which was a bit hard to recognize ast there is no big sign or any hint except a small label)) was just behind the tram stop. Very easy to get to any place in Helsinki. Room was quite okay, but as the house is maybe nearly 100 years old, so was probably the door. So every small noize from corridore was heard and it was quite annoying during whole night...as the toilets are in corridor and some people just dont get it that its 3 am. But that was the only mistake! So-reccommended, when in budget!

Leider nur eine Dusche und ein WC für alle sieben Zimmer, die vermutlich selten alle besetzt sein werden. In Ordnung für ein 2-Stern Hotel.

値段相応？ですかね

駅からは比較的近い場所にあり、トラムの駅も近いので利便性は比較的いいかと思います。シャンプーなどのアメニティはないので注意が必要です。木のエレベーターは今まで乗ったことがなくいい経験になりました。

An exotic flashback to 100 years ago!

A trip to a weird dream! But very interesting, at least for the open minded.

There was no hotel at the address, only an old apartment house. At the entrance there were beepers for all apartments, and one for the Hotel. After a trip up to the top floor in a squeaky antique elevator, one of the doors said Hotel, even though it was a regular home door.

Inside, the place looked like a large 100-year old apartment that had not been renovated ever. Door knobs were creaky and doors and door hinges had like 20 layers of white paint on them. A long corridor led to the \"reception\", which was just a table. There was a normal but old-fashioned kitchen for all the guests to use, and complimentary teabags, cookies and ground coffee.

The owner, a nice Russian man in his fifties, spoke no Finnish, only Russian and decent English. There was a nice balcony with flowers in pots on the railing, and a nice view over rooftops. You could even see the Eastern Orthodox Cathedral.

For someone expecting a regular hotel, this might be a shock. But it was full of \"ambiance\" of old and gone times, almost like staying with old Russian relatives.

I might recommend this place for overseas visitors who'd like to really feel being so near pre-Soviet Russia.

場所は大聖堂、港に近くて最高。大聖堂脇の太い道沿いなので、カラオケの左どなりと分かっていればすぐに見つかる。アパートなので部屋が狭いですが、全体の入口と部屋の鍵を渡されるので、安全面は問題なく、シャワーやトイレ、キッチンも共用ながらも使いやすくてよい。洗濯機はオーナーがいるときに使う必要あり（５ユーロ）。

予約キャンセルされました。

23時までにチェックインとのことで22時40分に到着したところ、
建物に入れず、電話も誰も出ませんでした。
Expediaに確認したところ宿から予約キャンセルされていたとのこと。
前々日には確認メールを受信して頂けに残念でした。
スタッフや設備に関しては宿泊していないので評価できません。
不運だったと思うことにします。

Kiva miljöö hyvällä paikalla esim.

Tulimme mieheni kanssa Helsingin juhlaviikoille Huvilateltan konserttiin. Löysimme hotellin läheltä monta kivaa, pientä kuppilaa ja olimme oikein tyytyväisiä valintaamme.

Jeg var ikke tilfreds med hotel samt værelse. Meget slidt og trænger til renovering.
