Used here for the parkrun. 4 mins walk away. Busy check in as there was only one person at the desk. Room was nice. Great view. Located almost next to the metro (depending on which exit you take). Loads of restaurants nearby, 2 stops from central station. Good breakfast with loads of options.

The check in staff member was very helpful on my arrival. There was some confusion as to whether breakfast had been included or not with my original booking via Expedia. Whilst he made a note on the system regarding this I did not want to in effect pay 'twice', so did not take breakfast in the hotel.

The location was very good. We walked from the train station and to the waterfront market and to Zetor’s and other attractions. The street car provided good access to the port. The location was very good for us. The room was very small, however and the sauna was also very small and crowded.

It was a lovely stay but I wish they had a kettle and tea/coffee available in the room instead of going from the top floor to bottom and then using cardboard cups, not the safest for hot water spills. It’s nice to have a hot drink before bed. Loved the ladies only sauna and the breakfast was excellent. As I am English it was so nice that all the staff spoke English and made me feel welcome.

This place was awesome. Great value for the price, doesn't look like much from the outside but the room was great. Modern bathroom and enough room to cook and enjoy a meal. Having laundry and a sauna were a bonus. Would highly recommend for a solo travel stay.

Great breakfast, great location

This hotel is ideally located for convenience. The breakfast was genuinely fantastic. However, the room could have been a little cleaner/in better condition (e.g. the shower didn't drain quickly). The room I stayed in was on a lower floor and the city noise was a little loud but friends of mine on a higher floor didn't have that problem.

Cons:
WiFi constantly dropped out
No kettle in room, but you could spend €3 for a pitiful tea or coffee in reception - this is just penny pinching
Shower gel dispenser was full of water - or maybe just watered down
Gym was dreadful - whoever designed it or spent the budget clearly isn’t a gym goer. Bizarre equipment.

Only small niggle was that there was no obvious way to make the room dark during the short Finnish night. Didn’t bother me at all, but I can imagine that some people might have found it hard to sleep

Small room, people who are heavy or who have back problems might have trouble with thin mattresses.
Oddly, taxi drivers had trouble with the name (Scandic just means Scandinavian; Hakaniemi is the area of city)
Taxi fares: in 60 Euro; out very early 52 Euro.

Very basic hotel. The location is next to one of the loudest streets in Helsinki city center - this means public transportation is literally on your doorstep, but it is not very quiet or peaceful place to stay. City center is a short walk away, there are plenty of shops and restaurants around. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast ok, they had several gf options.

Great location in a wonderful city

The hotel is well located for public transport and is also next to the Scandic Passi which has a nice restaurant/bar attached to it accessed via the Passi’s Conferencing area.

The staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly.

My room was clean although the cover on the chair at the desk was stained and in need of a clean. The hotel was basic - no tea/coffee facility in the room & no social space except for some chairs in reception. The decor was a little ‘tired’ & in need of a bit of care but as I was on a business trip spending very little time in my room, this was OK for me. The Passi did have a bar in the hotel & as mentioned above, another close by so this was fine.

Would I stay there again? Absolutely - its location, the staff & breakfast all outweigh the minor things above but I do hope a refurb is planned - the property deserves it.

Breakfast was very good with many options to choose from,(hot & cold), ham, sausage, boil eggs, bacons, beans, vegetables, oatmeal, cereal, bread, cheese, rice cake,... but fresh fruit ran out early.

Staffs are super friendly.
Several buses, trams, and metro stop are right in the front of the hotel. It takes about 5 minutes on trams or 15 minutes walk to central train station.

The safe in our room was not working. Its battery was all melt out. One of the light bulbs in our bathroom was out. Another one was not working when have it on for sometime. We told the receptionist, but no body fixed it. The AC seems set on one temperature no matter that we manually moved it down several degrees.
When the room gets cleaned after guests checked out, they should check for the working condition of the appliances in the room as well. If the hotel offers something in the room, then it should work at a minimum.

Excellent location right on metro, tram, and bus lines and close to major sights, flee markets etc. Close to a 24 hr grocery store. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff, but new staff could benefit from additional familiarization with the surrounding area, such as the location of the City Theatre. Also, I had booked a room for one but both beds (expected) plus an extra roll-out bed (unexpected day unnecessary) had been made, leaving little floor space. Just a small inconvenience. Overall I was satisfied.

Comfortable and friendly hotel

I have stayed here in the past (when it was a Cumulus) and it hasn't changed much really. Still a good place to stay especially as it is walking distance from the site of Tuska Festival, which is the reason I visit Helsinki every year. Breakfast buffet is good and includes porridge, which you don't always find and is something I like to start the day with!

Simple hotel near transportation hub

The hotel was perfectly located to use public transportation. A hub for busses, trams, and the metro were just across the street. Despite being so close to them, the room was quiet. We didn’t notice the outside traffic. Not much of a view from the window, just another building. Overall the room was quite clean, however there was mold in the tea kettle. Simple, spacious room that is overall good for its price.

Beautiful room that lacked service!

Booked the Superior room which sleeps four for 3 nights. Room was large, modern with adequate sleeping arrangements, small refrigerator and a coffee & tea maker. Large bathroom with plenty of towels & nice hot shower. We were pleased with the room.

Service on the other hand lacked terribly. We arrived early and were checked in right away, however the person gave us false info on the public trams system. Luckily we used google maps to get around. The hotel is easily accessible to tram, metro, and bus service, On the second night we returned late to find out our room had not been cleaned. No apology was given. Extremely upsetting when you are staying at a non-budget hotel!! Spent over $760 for a short stay and felt cheated.
Breakfast was available for an extra 18euros which we didn't utilize since there are wonderful cafes where you can have breakfast for less than 12 euros nearby.
overall the Cumulus needs better customer service And attentiveness.

Stayed in a standard room - very small with hardly any walking space, with view of buildings. No kettle provided. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are clean.
Buffet breakfast came with the room rates. There is a good variety of cold and hot spreads but no fresh fruits and baked beans.

We had some maintenance issues but the ladies at the front desk were helpful. One day no one cleaned the room but the desk gave towels. The young ladies at the desk were helpful with directions and taxis. I would stay againjust don't expect a Hilton. They do have a sauna a Finland tradition.

We were given a family room at the quiet end of the floor. The room has comfy beds and clean bathroom . It also provides us with small electric kettle and ironing board.
Everywhere you want to go is within walking distance. Excellent for travellers who are short of time. But be aware of the cold temperature if you go during winter.

the heating/airconditioning system didn\"t work that well. I'm used to rooms where one can open a widow. the windows here are sealed.
The front dest were very helpful on all ocassions.

Very nice hotel close to downtown. We were in a triple superior room a little small but adequate. Typical Scandinavian design (clean and efficient). The breakfast was crowded but good with hot and cold entrees. Would recommend this hotel.

Outside of the main centre but metro, tram and bus stop right across from the hotel. Hotel ok but not the best. Housekeeping fell short , day 2 towels not left, same day 3, bin in room not emptied. Surfaces not cleaned. Very varied breakfast but didnt quite go together, very small bowls of cereal , tinned strawberries. egg which was described as scrambled was cold egg mixed with butter (very strange) dining room not very clean . Basic.

Quiet hotel near all you would wish to see.

This hotel is situated in a quieter part of town however only a 15 minute walk through the park to the Central Train Station and all the main sites. Lots of buses, trams and underground station near to get to where you wish to go. One of the quietest hotels I have ever stayed in the rooms are a good size functional and very clear with comfortable beds. Great choice at breakfast on the 2nd floor. Very friendly welcoming staff who went out of their way to be helpful with local knowledge and directions. Nothing was too much bother.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights in August. Being next to Hakaniemi Metro Station and opposite a tram station, it is convenient to get from the hotel to Central Helsinki.

The hotel staff were also friendly and helpful when we asked for public transportation schedules and directions. Unfortunately, breakfast wasn't part of the package. But food is readily available near the hotel as it is opposite Hakaniemi Market Square and there is a supermarket next to the hotel.

The room is nice and clean, albeit being a little small. The bed is comfortable and cosy as well.

Overall, it is a good and pleasant experience for me.
