In general, an excellent 5-star hotel, full of history, with current rates that offer good value for the money. Very clean and well-maintained. Breakfast is amazing, especially the fruit section, and the buffet menu is top-notch. Customer service in the restaurant is top-notch. However, this initial opinion has some negatives, especially regarding housekeeping. The employee who cleaned our room forgot to close the door, and when we came back, the door was wide open for several hours. I applied to the front desk; they checked the cameras and assured me that nobody came to the room during this period. The front desk employees were very prompt, recognizing the mistake and sent complimentary champagne on behalf of the hotel. I thought this was it, but at checkout, I found an unknown charge for the minibar chocolate, which the front desk resolved immediately. In summary, this is a good hotel with excellent front desk and restaurant customer service, but poor housekeeping, which brings down the overall impression of the hotel.

They always went out of their way to help me if I had a question or was trying to find some information.L construction on this property, but ends around 6 PM and does not start up again until around 7 to 8 AM. I did find it to be a major inconvenience.

Property was nice. Located in a great area in the middle of the city, walking distance to anything you could need or want to do. Main train station is a short walk, just don't want to be dragging too much luggage.
The one negative was the amount of construction going on near the hotel's entrance, but that is not something the hotel can fix. Not a deal breaker, just less than ideal.
Staff was friendly and on top of every need and request.

We had a wonderful stay for our anniversary! Stayed in a park view suite - beautiful furnishings and view, large bathroom, good closet space and so quiet. We had a great lunch in the restaurant and drinks at the bar - it’s a lovely space. The staff were warm and welcoming, the breakfast was delicious and the location is perfect for walking around Helsinki. If you need to travel by car, there is a taxi stand right outside. No complaints - would definitely stay here again!

Gorgeous hotel with super friendly staff

Ablosuletely loved our stay, we were only there for one night, but will definitely come back. The hotel is incredibly gorgeous, the lobby, the restaurant/bar, the room, everything about it is so beautiful. There are so many little details that make this hotel gorgeous. I was impressed and it is not easy to impress me. I stay in 5 star hotels all the time, but this one is one of a few that stood out to me. If you like old fashioned luxury style, you will love this. It’s very unique, feels very rich but at the same time, feels like home. It’s like visiting your grandmas house in a good way. I felt very comfortable, love the fact that there is a mall inside of the hotel. The check in process was very quick, very smooth, they were nice enough to let us have a complimentary late checkout without a question. We forgot our charger, and the reception was very sweet and let us borrow theirs. The thing I liked the most is that you can truly feel that the staff was genuinely nice and friendly. It didn’t feel forced upon them. It’s often when I visit a nice hotel I feel like the staff is not happy to see you and doesn’t really want to be there. But here it felt different.

We used to live in Finland and were excited to stay at the famous Kämp hotel. Their restaurant and bar are top notch and the service is awesome. For the hotel, you are absolutely paying for the location, as it is on the older side and needs a revamp in some areas. The carpets were worn and a bit disappointing that they aren’t vacuumed every day. Cleaning was very inconsistent and not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel. Maybe because we stayed in July and some staff are on holiday. I think we’ll give the St. George a try next time and then just pop into the Kämp for drinks.

Lovely property with a perfect location in Helsinki. We walked everywhere we wanted during our trip from the hotel. Tons of shopping and dinner options near by. Hotel staff offered lovely recommendations for dinner. Large rooms that were well maintained and cleaned. Only complaint is that the rooms are a little dark and outdated. My husband used the spa and said it was nice. Only negative was that the spa services were only available from 10-6. Minor downside considering everything the hotel has to offer. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Simply Asian discriminating.
You don’t want to dine at this place if you are Asian. Employees at the Hotel restaurant range from unfriendly to plain rude. We made reservation at 9 PM. We went there 10 minutes before 9PM. They wouldn’t seat us until 9:00 even though the place is half empty, and told us the kitchen closes at 9:30 and we need to be out by 10 pm. In the same time, in front of us they seated one family that didn’t have reservation. Our server didn’t greet us, he sent a busboy to take our order and served wine. We ordered immediately to same time, the food took a long time to be served giving us about 20 minutes before we had to evacuate. The cherry on the cake was the server practically throwing our entree dish on our table hitting the wine glass without an apology. When we asked for the check, they threw the bill on the table. It is a shame that this is the official restaurant of the hotel, while the hotel staff were very nice and courteous.

Hotel Kamp, Helsinki

You can’t say the Kamp is cheap but it’s worth every €. The staff, the comfortable beds, the food, summer time dinners on the terrace - all 5 star done with a real sence of pride. Use a hotel bike and go explore, ride to the Olympic stadium for a swim, or get a ferry to Suomenlina. Heavenly. I can’t imagine a reason to stay elsewhere.

I chose Kämp hotel as it is said to be the oldest and best hotel in Finland. Throughly enjoyed the bar, well-stocked, top shelf alcohol. Room-wise there was a couple of issues, though service provided was sincere and expeditious, thus making up for any inconvenience caused. Bed linen had a high cotton thread count- lovely. Most importantly, cleanliness was top notch & attentive service. Will patronize again.

Outstanding service in the best location within Finland. Staff was amazing and incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a few (all very minor) issues with leaky fixtures in the bathroom, but nothing that changed the quality and comfort of our stay. We would recommend Hotel Kamp and gladly stay there again. I'll add that my wife has celiac and also a dairy allergy, and the restaurant did a fantastic job accommodating her.

Room service breakfast terrible: (1) 12 euro “delivery” charge hidden in fine print. Just make the breakfast more overpriced! Why bother surprising people with the news their breakfast was twice the price of what it said on the menu. (2) Burnt toast. (3) Weird (UHT?) milk for cornflakes. (4) Stale fruit. (5) Glasses for drinks forgotten. Complaining doesn’t work either - first I was told that I should read the fine print more carefully, then received an “apology” (I’ll pass your feedback to our marketing department”) over the phone. No attempt to reduce the charge or anything of this kind which would be a default behavior in most hotels I ever stayed at.

Then some glitches with the bellboy service but overall a good hotel. Just don’t order breakfast.
