THE YARD is a concept hostel in the heart of Helsinki and the Best Hostel in Finland year 2018. We are your home away from home, a place were you will always feel welcome and valued.
Our core goal is to make everyone walk through our doors fall in love with Helsinki by helping them get the best possible experience of our Nordic Capital. You'll feel right at home in the relaxed and cool ambience of THE YARD.
So what makes us stand out? Well we definitely look good.
Focus on Finnish design and local art with a touch of urban jungle. All this in the heart of Helsinki in an iconic building built in 1912.
We are a hostel with both private rooms and dorms. We also offer a large lounge where you can hang out with your friends or make new ones.

Nice spot for a short affordable stay. Only complaint was that towels, etc. were not included in the pricing. I do not know if this is typical in European countries, but otherwise a convenient location with plenty to do nearby.

Absolutely Wonderful Hostel
Our twin room was very comfortable. We had a window we could open by which all of the singing birds greeted us in the morning. The beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of outlets for all our needs. The gathering room is nice in size and comfort, and the kitchen was well supplied. The front desk has limited hours.
The shared bathroom worked out well. The shower room is separate from the sinks and toilets. All clean.
The location is perfect for getting to all of the various sights. The elevator works well. We couldn't have been happier.

Even tho i didn’t have any interaction or met any staff member, the instructions where very clear on the email you get. So I didn’t have any problems. My room (#1) was very comfy and it had a fan that it was a plus.
Stayed in a 4 bed room but we were only 2 guys. Room was great and the facilities looks great too. I only stayed for 1 night but everything was fantastic.
The location is also amazing. The metro from ferri terminal drop you 3 mins away from the hostel and the train station to get to the airport is 5 mins away.

Loved my stay! The beds are super spacious and comfortable. The hostel is very clean and cute. Pretty quiet common area and not much socializing going on. Very relaxed and in a perfect location. I would stay again

No staff service whatsoever. I did not get a code to get into the room or the hotel. Nobody responded to the texts and calls. So I was stranded with two kids with us for the night. Kids got nervous and cried, it was a hectic and terrible night for my family.

I love this hostel because of the small details that makes traveling easy and convenient. Curtains give privacy for each dorm bed, the bathrooms are clean, door code is sent ahead of time, plenty to watch on tv, and basics for cooking in the kitchen.

I had to wait at the door for long time until someone Answer the door. They didnt tell me I had to pay for the towels and when I found out, there was nobody in the reception during 3 days. Because I left early in the morning and came back after 20.00 everyday. Basicly I didnt have towel for 3 days plus I didnt even have my own private toilet even I booked a double room for my own. Never again !!!

I used to stay at hostels more often in my younger years, but now in my early 40s I more often do not. However, prices in Helsinki lead me to The Yard, and boy am I glad it did.
What a great hostel. Located on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building, you enter by a shared building entry along a pedestrian street and then buzz into the hostel. Once you're properly checked in you will receive codes to enter the building.
The hostel is social but not loud. The living room is super comfortable, with some conversation and sometimes just people quietly working or on their computers.
Age range varies, probably skewing younger but i was not the only non-20-something there.
I was in a female-only room with 4 bunks (8 beds) in a HUGE room with wonderful light and seating area. Drawers under the beds can be locked, and open cubbies are also provided for non-valuables. Each bed has a curtain to ensure privacy, and in each bed area are outlets, a reading lamp, and shelf. Very clean.
The hostel provides sheets and blankets, though you have to make your own bed. They do NOT provide a bath towel. I found this annoying. Rental was, I think, 2 euros. In my opinion, charge 2 euros more per night and nobody will bat an eye.
Front desk service is super friendly and helpful. I was able to leave my bag in their bag room before check-in and after check-out. Be mindful that no staff is on site at night. Breakfast is provided, and it was basic but adequate.

Way too overpriced for what it is. I understand you are paying for Helsinki/Finnish city centre prices but still, because the amenities do not meet the mark, the price is just frustrating. The best part of the hostel is the common area. Apart from that the rooms are super cramped, the beds are very shaky and squeaky. Toilets are so tiny that the sink is literally in front of you when seated. Only 1 private shower room, the other is a shared-gender shower room with frosted glass that isn't full length. For such an expensive bed, they don't provide towels and you have to rent one for EUR2. Good bits - lockers under bed, plugs and light at each bed, and privacy curtain. Would not recommend - if the hostel hit the basics right, the price would have justified itself for the location, but right now it just falls super short.

Easy , comfortable, basic hostel expectations, only granola, juice and toast for breakfast, fridge for your own purchases, very young crowd, safe/drawer locker under the bunk.

The hostel is easy to find, and very nice inside. The dorms are big and spacious, although a few more hooks to hand up clothes and wet towels would be good. Breakfast is pretty simple, so you might not get too full up.

Sophisticated city centre concept hostel
I came for the sight-seeing, not to party, and this is perfect for that! The hostel is clean quiet and comfortably trendy - do not expect to be babysat here. The team run it like a home from home, so the front door isn't open to random people coming and going - very secure. Likewise the communal areas are a comfortable living room, not a frat party. :)
I met some awesome people to go to the bars just across the street, which was perfect, as it's nice to return to the quiet hostel at the end of the night, ready for another wonderful day in Helsinki!

Muito bom hostel. Fiquei no quarto para mulheres com 3 beliches. Tem lockers. Da pra preparar comida simples. Tem geladeira . A localização é excelente. Fiz tudo a pé. Tem poucos banheiros ( 3 ) para o hostel todo e (2) chuveiros. Mas, nao tive problemas com isso. Recomendo. Cama e lençóis confortáveis. Tudo bem automatozado. Codigos de entrada. Toalha a parte por 3 euros. Cheguei meia noite e deu tudo certo conforme a recomendação da recepção. A permanência de alguem na recepção é de curto periodo.

Sain yläsängyn, koska saavuin myöhään illalla ja se oli hiukan hankalaa, kun piti laittaa lakanat ja kiivetä tikkaita. Toisaalta minulla oli pistorasiat, peili, hylly, valo ja verho, joten viihdyin hyvin, kunhan asetuin. Tulen varmasti uudelleen ja kokeilen silloin toisenlaista huonetta.

hostel experience - but a single solo room. the room itself was top notch and way better than I expected. it was clean, very good looking and the table for working could fit two laptops easily. bed was ok, very clean but a bit too bouncy and soft for my taste. but tastes may vary of course.
the public toilet on the corridor had door handle and lock mechanism very clunky and almost broken. was surprised the towel wasn't included in the price and since my check-in was very late, I could not get a towel. so a very important detail was lost in the messages. shame.
