Terrible service

The directions for check-in, especially when arriving late at night are completely muddy and unclear. There is no one to call or check in with I left repeated messages and nobody ever got back to me the entire length of my stay.

Different place than advertised.

It was a completely different room compared with what I booked; instead of reservation for 2 people we were given a single room with single bed and all amenities just for 1 person. Also the hotel does not have basic things such as the hairdryer what is listed as amenity that they should have. In addition, it’s a kitchen there but they don’t even have any coffee filters, salt/pepper etc, thus one needs to buy all if kitchen is used or even for just making coffee. Also the sound from the corridor was loud, thus it was not possible to fall asleep without earplugs. The staff was helpful and at least we got an extra towel, but definitely not returning there in the future.

Excellent place. It was spacious. It was clean. it was safe. There was a small issue about getting only one towel and one pillow for 2 people... And they couldn't help me get any more after I contacted them. that was a bit disappointing but we made it work somehow. I also contacted them 2 other times about luggage storage and sauna hours and they answered me right away on the chat...So communication was excellent and informative

Nice place but communication needs improvement.

Location is ok, and apartment is very comfortable and clean. Communication is not good, needed to contact them multiple times for entry code, storage facilities, and potential extension of stay. Washer does not have a dryer, although there are dryers in the building and a sauna which was never communicated.

Nice apartments, clean and tidy with good kitchen facilities. Ideally placed for travelling into central Helsinki.

The only minus was the lack of towels on arrival - rectified the following day by the housekeeper.

Would be very hard for a tall person to sleep on it. Very uncomfortable to sleep on.

I made a booking for a couple with a Double Bed requirement. They provided is a convertible couch (photos attached). I wrote back to them as there was no customer support available on Sunday. Hotels.com tried to contact them and they said they contacted me directly and I never heard back from them.

Would not stay with them again.

Great location. Quiet. Comfortable. Clean.Only negative is that no A/C and the weather was really hot this summer. They gave us a fan which helped a little. An other minus is that they Five only one bath towel each person for a week. We got more by asking but at least two towels each person should be a standard. All in all we love this place and keep going back every summer.

The check in was very efficient and easy. The location is great - an easy walk to downtown and even easier to a large slhopping center (Kamppi). There is also a small park nearby for kids to run around in. And transit is close at hand. The apartment is quite spartan, without decoration and basics like soap, salt. The double bed is actually two singles pushed together. The sofa bed is a pullout of medium comfort. Altogether this was a very good base for exploring Helsinki.

A great place to stay in Helsinki

After being on a tour of Poland and the Baltic states, I decided to spend several days in Helsinki. In my hotel search, I came across the SATO (now Forenom) Apartments in the Kamppi district. At first, I was a little nervous about staying on my own in an apartment complex in a city I had never been to before, and then I thought, why not? It all worked out great. On the day of my arrival, I was emailed by Forenom the apartment complex entry code, and except for one little glitch (the code into my own apartment did not work but was quickly fixed when I called customer service), all worked out great. I liked staying in the Kamppi district (convenient to tram, rail and metro stations, restaurants, grocery stores, as well as major sites in the city) and I liked my little apartment. I would love to go back to Helsinki, and if I do, I would certainly consider staying again at the Forenom Apartments in Kamppi.

Sometimes hotel stays have their benefits

Where to start. These are apartments for short to medium term visitors. We chose one because we wanted more space for our 5 days in Helsinki. We checked in to our pre booked apartment close to the city at 4pm to find the bedding could only accommodate one person, not a couple. It took over an hour for the person on the phone to find alternative accommodation for us. The only apartment they had was in another neighbourhood a further 3kms from the city. So we had to jump in a taxi to get there so it was about 6pm before we even got into our accommodation. That said, the apartment was brand new and in a great neighbourhood. It was just disappointing that we were forced to spend a heap of our own money getting to and from the city because we were located further away then originally planned. If you’re looking for convenience and it’s a short stay, stick with a hotel.

Spacious Apart-Hotel in a Convenient Location

This is not a hotel, so don't expect the hotel amenities (daily towel changes, toiletries, maid service, soap, etc.). Nonetheless, if you just want to rent a nice, quiet, spacious, convenient studio or a 1 bedroom apartment for a few days/weeks, this place would be great for you. I rented a studio: it was very comfortable and clean, with a nice kitchen (with all basic cookware/utensils to your avail, including a dishwashing machine and cleaning supplies), tv, couch, bed, bathroom. The apart-hotel is 3-4 min walk from the major metro station (Kamppi), and 7-10 min walking distance from the central station (Rautatientori metro station). You can get around and go anywhere in the city from this place (and beyond, if you want to venture out to other cities via buses). And mind you, there are 3 underground groceries stores in the Kamppi metro station; you could buy food and prepare a light breakfast or lunch easily, if you don't want to eat out for all 3 meals on a daily basis.

Very convenient and everything we needed

First time using Forenom, would use again being better aware of how it operates.
A few comfort things didn’t bother us too much: heating controls (turn down the bathroom floor heating when you arrive); no proper place to eat; bed is pushed against the wall, so one person has to climb in.
Great location.
Common use laundry was good, but only drying room so need at least 12h for cotton to dry.

Lovely apartment close to central Helsinki

A bit of a rough start to our stay. The apartment has been taken over by another company which didn't update that the key code would be sent on the day rather than a couple days in advance as previously indicated. After some frantic emails all was sorted and we received the door code via email and text. Unfortunately this didn't work despite trying multiple times. This resulted in a call to the customer services, he changed the code and after a couple more tries we were in. Then came the room, my heart sank when I saw only a single bed as I had booked a double. After another call to customer services we were moved to another apartment with 2 single beds which wasn't perfect but we did both have a bed to sleep on! Besides from this check in experience we really enjoyed our stay here. The apartment has a very well equipped kitchen. Beds were comfortable even if they were 2 singles. Fantastic transport links, supermarkets and restaurants 2mins walk away really made this a winner!

This is an apartment in a safe and clean urban neighborhood. The apartment is basic with a larger single twin bed. It was in excellent condition and very clean inside of the apartment. The hallway and lobby don't look as good as the apartment itself. The phone service to the staff was efficient. For Helsinki, it was a cheaper yet convenient and safe option.

The apartment is nice and clean with good space, we have little problem when we check in but staff sorted it out very quickly. Location is about 15 mins walk to city centre in a very quiet area. Supermarket is about 5 mins walk.

Room was in great condition, very clean and had many appliances. However, was lacking cutlery and crockery. Also, no front desk (you get a code the day before check-in that gives you access to your room on the check-in day). WiFi worked well. Location was the downfall, however. The HotellHome is not close to the train station nor to the metro station. However, there are tram stops nearby.

Clean, roomy, quiet and close to centre.

Appartment is roomy, quiet and clean. Good kitchen with fridge, dishwasher and microwave. Hot shower with heated floor. Can walk everywhere from the Appartment, no need to use public transport.

Both single mattresses sagged in the middle which made them uncomfortable to sleep. Also Appartment temperature could have been a few degrees warmer. It was a little cool for me and my family. We had all the radiators on max.

I would return to this Appartment in future.

Lastly, don't bother catching the metro from central station. It's only a 15 walk.

Disorganised, dirty and uncomfortable

I received all information by email (good part), but when I arrived at the apartment was not prepared for me. It was the same way the last guest left the room. I called customer services and they changed my apartment. The apartments are okay, but it have terrible uncomfortable beds and the towels are not soft. The real advantage of this apartment is the location, which is in the city centre.

The apartment was really nice. The only downside was the bed is actually two twin beds put together, with one being slightly higher and longer than the other one. The pillows are not fluffy.

We would definitely stay here again.

Spacious room, great location

This hotel was very nice. Had a full kitchen and a living room with a fold out queen bed. There was lots of room, felt more like an apartment than a hotel room. The location is great. It's very close to a market (to stock the fridge) and close to downtown (we walked every day). The location even had a storage room to store our luggage after we checked out. We had 4 adults stay here and did not feel crowded.

Nice hotel very near to Central Helsinki

I had a very nice experience of the hotel. I stayed for three nights and found it very comfortable with all basic amenities. While there is no reception and one has to enter facility through code, the approach is without any hassles. All information was shared in advance. I could easily approach all attractions through walk or using all modes of public transport. There are good Indian restaurants nearby where I could get vegetarian food of my choice. All shopping facilities including Kamppi mall and Super market are nearby. Overall I felt very satisfied with my stay.

Nicely refurbished 1960´style functional apartment in ugly apartment block with great central but still calm location on walking distance from everything. Good only for independent travellers as there is no staff on location, Trouble-free check-in and out with codes and instructions by e-mail. Only local and Russian TV-channels. Good WiFi.

Simple and nicely decorated, excellent place for a short term home in Helsinki - it's a HOME so guests are expected to do the daily cleaning, tidy up and removing garbage themselves - which we are totally comfortable with.

Good stay in Helsinki City Center

Since there is no reception in the hotel, the communication is quite clear about check in and codes. If the emails can mention about which floor the apartment located would be great.
The location is good. Quiet neighborhood but close to transportation hubs (train & buses).
The apartment is clean but a little smaller than we expected. We got a studio for 2 people. We didn't get 2 beds, instead we had one bed and a pull out bed. After pull out the extra bed, there is not much space for 2 opened suitcase.
One thing about the passenger card. If this is a must to fill in, it would be great to let us know ahead of time so that we wouldn't be confused if we need to fill it out.

Service could be better, but great apartment!

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The apartment was clean and the kitchen well appointed. It is located about 3 blocks from the metro and we'll within walking distance of many attractions.

We arrived on a Friday night and our reservation was for 3adults but we did not have linens for the sofa bed. We sent an email as we did not have a Finnish sim card yet... nobody checks email on weekends so we made do with what we had. On Saturday we called and the attendant asked if we had checked the storage room. How would we know about this? He said to use our code... it did not work had to call again and got the actual code (attendant was new) and got the necessary linens. Would have preferred to have them that night but got them in the end.
We would stay here again.

Convenient and quiet location, well-appointed apartment, with all the facilities needed for a short stay (including coffee and tea bags!). No problems finding the place or getting the key. Only minor ding is that the beds could have been more comfortable.

Also, while accurate, the directions suggest getting the metro from the main train station but you'd probably be quicker walking!

Great location but very uncomfortable bed

Location is great, close to everything. It's good for the price if you book early. You have all the basics you need for a short stay and there were a lot of cupboards to put away our things. Unfortunately the bed was probably the worst I have ever slept in in a hotel. My husband and I had a studio with a \"double bed\" which turned out to be a single pull-out bed. One side of the bed was shorter than the other and there was a hard gap between the mattresses.

We also had cleaners accidentally coming in to our apartment multiple times during our stay. Cleaners would also spread out their equipment on the hallways during the day so going in and out of the apartment was a bit tricky at times, trying to jump over the vacuum cleaners and garbage bags in the narrow hallways.

Despite this all I'd probably stay again if I ever need cheap accommodation in the city, just because of price vs. location.

Great place to stay for a week in Helsinki

We loved our apartment from the minute we walked in the door... clean and bright and spacious and well equipped, good wifi. Kamppi is a good location, on the edge of central Helsinki and is a safe neighbourhood. Less than 10 minutes walk away is the Kamppi mall & bus station which has everything you need and where you can catch buses to anywhere. A couple of small supermarkets, ATMs and bus stops all within 5 minutes of the apartment. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

This hotel apartment was a success story. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that it is located 2 blocks from the Kamppi bus/metro station. This was extremely important for us that we wanted to go to too many places in beautiful and modern Helsinki.

Great Location Holiday Home

Fantastic location, right in the city centre. The apartment is well equipped, with washing machine or (free) laundry room, kitchen, modern bathroom, free wi-fi and comfortable beds. Check-in is super easy with a keycode that activates at 4pm on the day of arrival. This is also convenient as there is no need to carry around a set of keys, while on holiday. The apartment is very easy to find and overall felt safe and quiet. There is no daily cleaning and for longer stays you might need to purchase items such as toilet paper and washing detergent from the local supermarket (a few minutes away), as well as wash the dishes you are using (there is a dishwasher though!). Overall I would warmly recommend this hotel.

We were delivered to the door by Helsinki's shared Airport Taxi service. It was easy to gain access with the code provided. The studio flat was excellently equipped, even including a dishwasher and coffee maker as well as cooking stove, microwave and fridge. The welcoming package of ground coffee milk and sugar was a nice touch. The shower room was perfectly clean. Only the bed was a bit of a let-down, being a standard single with a small pull-out bed beside it. We didn't try these, but there were also a shared sauna and a laundry facilities in the building. The location was fine, being within walking distance of a shopping centre, trams, Metro and buses.

Refurbished apartment walkable in 20 mins to city

Apartment is refurbished and in a 70s style block. Has everything you need for a long stay including full separate kitchen (oven, microwave, Crockery, cutlery, washing machine, with more machines and a communal drying room in the basement and dishwasher too), Separate lounge and bedroom. Bed was a little too soft for me, but that's just personal taste. TV had lots of English speaking channels but strangely no BBC News channel. There is no air conditioning so on hot days/night windows need to be kept open - however this lets in the considerable noise from the kiddies playground right opposite the bedroom windows so was awoken at 8am by screeching kids. On the other side of the apartment, ie the lounge side, is a school with a large and public schoolyard in front facing the apartment with basketball and mini football pitches which are used from early morning and often until 10.30pm so again shouting and the thumping of the ball can be a serious noise issue if you are not used to this - used my earplugs to get relief from the noise. Not Sato's fault but something to consider as it is unavoidable. Nice gesture of initial coffee/tea and milk packet left for a cuppa. Easy straight walk(15-20 mins) into town once you get orientated n hop on-hop off bus stop just down the road. Kaampa shopping centre a few mins away has supermarkets, lots of shops, cafes, - quite like a shopping mall in UK. It also has a large bus station hub and is near central railway station for airport trains.

The room was very bare bones, the double bed was two twin beds pushed together with two separate duvets. There was no fan or air conditioning. I stayed here on one of the longest days of the year and the curtains were very thin and did not block out the sun or a nearby street lamp. The location is great, very close to the main sights and lots of restaurants.

-hammock like twin beds pushed together in the corner- one has to climb out;
-bathroom outlet does not work, mirror is very far away- impossible to do your hair and cidneticslnstuff,
-no kitchen table in a full sized kitchen - very uncomfortable! Tons of useless kitchen cabinets and no table. Awful bar stools. Tiny burners- left dirty! Cleaner should use the blade to clean the rings.
- no essentials: salt, pepper, sugar, oil. No soap or Shampoo. Each tenant buys those and they disappear with each cleaning, I am sure. We r leaving ours.
- overgrown fridge- back wall is full of ice!
-range fan does not work - water condensates back on food!
-bath fan does not work.

Good central location.

The hotel/apartment was very comfortable with plenty of space for 3-4 people. It was well appointed with a cooker (not just a microwave) and a washing machine. The bathroom was small but perfectly formed and well heated. The seating area was a good size with a large table and sofa bed. It was also possible to sit in the kitchen. The hotel/apartment was centrally located within walking distance, or a short bus/tram ride, of many of the main sites. There was a supermarket about two minutes from the hotel/apartment and there was a good Italian restaurant opposite. We would stay here again.

Hotel without help if you need one

Got stuck in traffic coming from garage and missed check out time by 7 minutes. Telephone assistant couldn't unlock the house for us and had to call for service which took almost an hour to come. Fortunately we didn't miss our flight.

this apartment was ideally situated in kamppi, 5 minute walk to bus station -- which has a nice mall with several food and grocery options, 12 minutes to the train station. within the building having the free laundry and drying rooms was extremely convenient, and the apartment itself was spacious and clean. lots of english language stations on the flat-screen tv, dependable wifi, and heated tile floor in the bathroom were pleasant surprises that added to the comfort and enjoyment of our stay.

The location is great: in a quiet neighborhood but just a short walk to the city center, the train and bus station, Kamppi shopping center, etc. I was a bit worried about staying at a place with no reception, but everything went well: I got the door code two days before arrival and getting in was no problem. I did have a problem with the booking that was tough to solve (confusion between the hotel and hotel.com) because the hotel has no reception (when I called, I initially was given wrong information -- the staff was, however, friendly and tried to get the situation fixed). I also didn't care for the apartment I stayed in: It was quite dirty and showing its age. Overall, next time in Helsinki, I most likely wouldn't stay at this place.

Home away from home

Our one bed room flat was great and affordable for our family visit with my husband and his mother. We were able to live almost normal life style cooking dinner, doing laundry, hang out in the living room and out door patio. Plenty of space. We would have liked to know about sauna facility downstairs that we found on a last day and one minus was the school kids being noisy early in a morning. All the sights, restaurants and shopping are short walking distance away and public transportation is very easy to use. I really recommend this and I will be back on our next visit.

Perfect location for exploring Helsinki!

The apartment was well equipped and very comfortable, and the location was great. Only a few minutes walk to a good supermarket for provisions and about 10 minutes from the main railway and bus stations. Most of the main sights of Helsinki were within half an hour's walk

Very comfortable place to stay!

We stayed for 4 nights. It was a enough for 2 people. It had a nice little kitchenette with a fridge. Lots of closet space for luggage and clothing. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others! It was a good location, walking distance to many of the attractions!

Great place if staying for a longer period as it's like living at home.

An older building (1950's) but totally renovated and everything (rooms, kitchen, bathroom, etc) is like brand new.
Nicely decorated and has everything you need for a home away: Fully equipt kitchen including stove, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, dinnerware and cutlery.... New flat screen tv, Sony sound system, blue ray player...

Five minute walk to the main bus terminal and a large shopping centre. 10 minute walk to city centre.
Most major tourist attractions are withing 20 minute walk or easily reachable via tram or bus.

Hotel staff gets a rating of 3 as I never saw anyone (I wasn't expecting either).
After booking you receive all relevant information and your access code to the building/room via email.
(Phone number is provided in case you need help, but there is no staff in the building, this is like a regular apartment building)

Good value and convenient location

I really liked the location, it's on a quiet street but a short (10-15 min) walk away from Kamppi and Forum shopping centers. We had a one bedroom (with two twin beds) apartment with a balcony, it was just fine but the furnishings were very plain. A few colorful pictures on the wall would have made it less boring looking.
Overall I was satisfied and would stay there again.

Great location close to city center and public transportation. Glad we had a local driver who could find it though. Nice and roomy, but even though we had booked 3 people, they only had towels for 2. Apartments in our section could be marked better. This would be a great place to stay if your trip was more than 2 days. Kitchen was roomy and had plenty of pots and pans and utensils for cooking. Would definitely stay here again for a longer trip.

The apartments were good, very clean, plenty of space and good location, just minutes walking to the city centre. The only downside is that they sent me an email telling me that I was going to receive the door code 48 hours in advance, that didn't happen.
As I was the organizer of our group of 5 and we were in Tallin before arriving to Helsinki I needed to spent some time calling them to find out why we didn't get the code, he said that 48 hours was a misinformation, that I will receive it just 4 hours before.
4 hours before I didn't receive it either, so again I needed to call an international number and wait for them.
The codes were given over the phone and I never received the email or text they promised. It can be a bit stressful as you don't know if you were going to be able to get into the flats or not.
Apart from that the apartments are great, good location and I would use them again

Nice kitchen for cooking.
Have storage room to store luggage for early check-in or late check-out.

Brighter lights and warmer heater would be better.

Great place for Helsinki visit

3 single gals traveling to Helsinki. Perfect place for our visit. Large living room and large bedroom. Comfortable beds and sofa couch. Very easy entry access. Well equipped kitchen. Shower was a little funky - shower curtain came loose. Neighborhood was very walkable and close to restaurants, bars and local sights. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect, no complaints.

Right around the corner from Kamppi, great location and felt very safe and comfortable. There was a real coffee machine with ground coffee waiting for me and all the cooking facilities I needed. There is also a little balcony in the building if you want to get some air.

When we got to the apartment, the place was very dirty. Later, we found out that one of the beds was completely broken with a huge hole in the mattress, making it impossible to sleep in the bed. We contacted the owners several times, who reassured us that they would fix the problem. However, the problem was not fixed. Terrible service.

Die Kommunikation im Vorfeld war anstrengend, erst musste ich mich legitimieren, dann sollte ich Guest Details angeben, die ich bestätigt habe, jedoch ist das anscheinend nicht angekommen. Um 16 Uhr sollte mir der Code zugesendet werden, wurde es nicht, sodass ich bei der Hotline anrufen musste.
Die Wohnung an sich war absolut ekelhaft, ich hatte im Bad immer das Licht aus und die Nase zu, damit ich nichts sehe oder rieche, das Wasser roch nach verfaulten Eiern. Die Küche absolut veraltet und vergilbt. Check-out war um 11
Uhr, um 10 Uhr klingelt und klopft es, der Mann frage, ob und wann ich denn auschecke, sowas habe ich noch nie erlebt.

Alles in allem: NICHT BUCHEN

Apartment and some furnitures were worn, broken and dirty. Table tops not cleaned. Shower curtain was disgusting. Bedsheets too small for the mattresses.
Location was perfect and the apartment was spacious making possible for 2 persons for work.

Perussiisti huoneisto. Astioita ym tasan neljälle. Parvekkeen ovi ei mennyt kunnolla kiinni, joten asunnossa oli kylmä ja etenkin olohuone oli lattiaa myöten jääkylmä (ulkona n -10 astetta). Kylpyhuoneessa vain hyvin himmeä sinertävä valaistus, toinen lamppu oli ilmeisesti rikki.

4人用を2人で使用なので、広さ、設備などは良かった。
環境も良かった。
ただ、重大な問題点があり、心労で体調が悪くなった。
それは、部屋のコードナンバーがチェックイン当日のチェックイン時という案内で、不安を抱きつつその時間を待ったが、なんの連絡もなく電話もつながらず途方に暮れた次第。信じられないミスだった。たまたま現地のお店を通販で利用していたのを頼りに、強引にその店に押しかけて助けてもらった。店主のフィンランドの方に助けられ、もはや奇跡的に入室できたのはチェックイン時間から約2時間後。
あれから1か月経った今日でも、フォレノムからお詫びの一言もなく、呆れている。
