Unfortunately we had booked this hotel for a few nights on a nonrefundable basis. We are facing a cancer issue and the hotel was simply uncaring in either giving us a refund or hotel credit. Expedia said that it contacted the hotel staff but they were not sympathetic to our plight. I guess Euros are more important than human life for this hotel.

Allowing clients to handle their own luggage in the luggage room can lead to confusion, as there is a risk of guests mistakenly taking someone else's bags. It would be more efficient and secure if the hotel staff managed the luggage, similar to the practices at other hotels.

I thought choosing a room without windows meant we would be “slumming it.” Boy, was I wrong. The skylight windows with electric shades let us enjoy a good night’s sleep, without the sun waking us at 3-4:00 am. We didn’t really notice the lack of windows because the room felt clean and elegant.

The hotel itself is well cared for and the breakfast selections were many. Even the gym in the basement (an old vault) was very useful. We didn’t use the sauna.
The hotel room was lovely with a comfortable bed and the bathroom had an amazing, deep soaker tub. But, there was a huge ledge to get in and out of and if you're not overly tall, it was a pain. I had a bruise on my thigh from getting out of it. I had a bath one night but (1) it would take a very long time to fill the tub and (2) I would feel guilty using all that water. So I had a shallow bath but it was hard to get out of the tub as there was no handrail. As well, the bathroom is dim. A lighted makeup mirror would have been great.

The hotel itself is well cared for and the breakfast selections were many. Even the gym in the basement (an old vault) was very useful. We didn’t use the sauna.
The hotel room was lovely with a comfortable bed and the bathroom had an amazing, deep soaker tub. But, there was a huge ledge to get in and out of and if you're not overly tall, it was a pain. I had a bruise on my thigh from getting out of it. I had a bath one night but (1) it would take a very long time to fill the tub and (2) I would feel guilty using all that water. So I had a shallow bath but it was hard to get out of the tub as there was no handrail. As well, the bathroom is dim. A lighted makeup mirror would have been great.

It was a really great experience. The hotel is in very good condition, has a very calm atmosphere, the corridors are quiet and I personally like that. The room was very good, spacious, modern, super clean. When I arrived, I was very well received at check-in, they asked me if I preferred a room with a bathtub or a shower and that was very thoughtful. I didn't use the gym or the sauna due to lack of time but I went to visit them and it seemed like a really spectacular space. The breakfast was also very good and all the staff I met were super friendly.

All in all, the hotel was great, clean and the stay was trouble-free. The breakfast was okay so far, but only a limited selection of bread rolls. One thing that annoyed us was that when we checked in we were given a coupon for dinner in the hotel's own restaurant which included 2 pizzas for the price of one, which we were really pleased about as Helsinki tends to be more expensive. However, when we went to redeem it on Saturday at around 8.45pm, there was apparently no more dough. Which I find problematic for a mainly Italian restaurant on a Saturday night, also in the sense that many people received this coupon. This is really annoying and the staff were not too courteous and friendly.

The rooms were recently renovated and everything was nice. I would have been happy to have a kettle in the room for making a cup of tea, and also the lights in the bathroom were so dim that I could not do makeup.
The whole lights system was rather difficult to grasp - too much light, then too little, then the bedside lamp would not light... and then it did not turn off.

Breakfast is a must… absolute variety and delicious all around; I don’t usually say this at all but worth the free breakfast or even paid breakfast (€26pp). You aren’t going to go hungry for most of the day after morning food visits.
