If fringed black lampshades are your thing, this is the place for you. A bit down at heel (chipped sinks, missing veneer, scratched walls), but the bed is comfortable, the rooms are quiet, and the price is low.

This is easily one of the best hotels I have ever been to! The funky decor of the room was unique and the room was huge with a bar area, dining table and chairs, a loveseat, a sofa bed, 2 other armchairs, and a king-size bed. Breakfast was also above average and included pancakes with whipped cream and bacon. The hotel was feet away from the metro, trams, and buses, as well as grocery stores and restaurants. I highly recommend the Scandic Paasi!

Scandic Paasi exceeded my expectations at every level. From the wonderful reception from Janni at check in to the well-appointed room and fabulous breakfast, this was a first rate stay from beginning to end. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet which was always varied and plentiful, and enhanced even further by the wonderfully friendly staff. Annika even visited each table every morning with freshly baked cinnamon rolls and a cheerful greeting, which was just lovely and that something extra that will linger happily in your memory. The hotel is also perfectly placed with easy access to transit, but is also very walkable to the city centre and its many attractions. I can highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to return. Thank you for a wonderful stay Scandic Paasi, you were superb.

I traveled with my daughter and the room was very comfortable. The beds were very nice and so was the bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic. Lots of options for my celiac daughter. Metro, tram and bus stops were just a five minute walk away and there is a 24 hour supermarket also about 5 minutes away with a great salad bar and fresh fruits and delicious baked goods. It is not in the city center but the train and tram get you there in about 10 minutes.

Great hotel, funky decor with spacious rooms

We travelled as family and couldn’t fault the hotel.

Rooms are spacious, clean and have all amenities. The staff are super friendly and went out of their way to help.

The breakfast selection was huge, great coffee and lots of fresh local food which was lovely.

The hotel is cool, with lots of funky features. Our room had a balcony which was great, especially in a city centre hotel in a prime location. There is a play room for kids which was a nice touch

Great access to all public transport and about a 15min walk into the centre itself

The breakfast was nice and much appreciated by all. Staff were generally kind and helpful. Location is very convenient and walkable. However, the cleaning was subpar. We travelled as a family and I have to say our room was barely ever cleaned our entire stay. Granted, as a family we make much more of a mess than a regular couple, but simple things like coffee and teas were never replenished, the glasses never changed, the sheets changed maybe once for a long stay. The room was small/cramped, a bit outdated and I feel a bit worn out.

The Scandic Paasi is a great little hotel. The location in Hakaniemi is excellent, just across the bridge from the centre of the city and an easy 20 minute walk from the central station. The hotel is tucked away on a square behind the main street, and it was extremely quiet during my stay.

As other guests have stated, the breakfast selection is huge considering the price band of the hotel with a wide selection of hot and cold options.

The only downside for me is the in room ventilation which, in common with many hotels in Finland in my experience, doesn't actually give you full control of the temperature, despite looking like a proper air conditioning control unit. This meant the room was a bit warm for my taste, but it wasn't a major issue.

Not as it seems…… !!

Hotel is in a peaceful location about a 15- 20 min walk from the Carhederal and waterfront. It also has the tram stop just across the road which was helpful. There are a few bars and eatery’s near by too and a handy supermarket about 2 min walk away.
The hotel itself was ok. Our room was on the sixth floor with no balcony or kitchenette etc even though we booked a superior plus room apparently there are lots of different types of these - not made clear when booking!! Our Air Con did not work and the room was very hot. We had been given one small fan for the large room. Even after reporting the Air Von not working 3 different times it’s was never fixed during our weeks stay and never any follow up with us from the reception staff. We had asked for another fan but never received it!!!!!
Beware booking a taxi from the reception too as our taxi cancelled on us at the 12th hour (it was booked for 35 Euro) we had to book one via reception who told us it was 45 Euro but when we came down to check out this went up to 51 Euro… because we had asked to pre book it apparently?!?! Very annoying and stressful TBH.
It is VERY expensive in Helsinki and they charge you for everything it seems so be on your guard!!

Very good hotel in quiet setting

Excellent hotel away from main roads. Easy walk into the centre of Helsinki. My only complaint is regarding the breakfast - this was fine except that there was no espresso- type coffee and the fruit options were limited. Otherwise, everything was very good.

Perfect for parkrun

A group of us visited for a parkrun special event and were very well taken care of. The hotel is located opposite a beautiful quiet courtyard, it's modern, clean and the breakfast options for vegans and gluten free were excellent. The location for Tokoinrata parkrun couldn't have been better - less than 5mins walk to the start line! Hotel has fantastic transport links to airport which is a 40min ride away by bus - tram and bus stops are short walk away, along with plenty of eating out options. Special mention to Sofi on reception who was lovely and helpful organising our luggage storage on check out day. 5 stars will recommend to all our parkrun tourism friends!

We chose Scandic Paasi based on other reviews and was not disappointed. Located close to public transit and very easy to get around. The staff was very friendly and helpful especially Johanna. The breakfast was also very good and very accommodating to our early morning tours. Would recommend and would stay again.

The breakfast was way more than I was expecting. The WiFi in the room was adequate for checking emails and travel research - did not try streaming a movie. The water pressure was amazing. The water from the shower gets all over the bathroom floor but it was a great shower. The room was along the size of a New York hotel room.

Our initial impression of this property was not completely positive because we found it really hard to find once we got off the Metro stop close by. However, after getting our bearings, we realized that the location was great with easy access to the Metro, tram system and a an awesome Food Hall and Market.
The lobby area is super fun with a circus theme related to the fact that there used to be a building housing circus acts in the area. Our room seemed dark at first but then we started to notice the interesting features including a boxing bag hanging from the ceiling! This harkens back to the district's history with boxing in Finland.
Staff were really nice but some seemed less fluent in English than we'd expect. Wasn't really a problem though.
The restaurant/pub, Juttutuppa, attached to the hotel via a picturesque inner courtyard serves local beers and great food at a good price. Ate there twice.

Booked this hotel for my annual visit to Tuska Festival as it's just by the metro station and an easy walk into the city centre. Very quiet and my room had a wrap-around balcony. Breakfast buffet included!

Loved the modern boutique vibe of this hotel. The beds, while not traditional American mattresses, were super comfortable - although the rooms are very small. The shower is great - wonderful water pressure. The Free breakfast buffet shocked us in a good way - there were so many options to choose from, hot and cold. The staff was very helpful in everything from directions to restaurant suggestions.

Great hotel and location but it must be noted that when booking through a 3rd party site and filtering for hotels with a sauna, this one does still come up as some rooms have their own sauna. There is no communal or shared sauna in the hotel. We didn't realise this and needed to upgrade to have a sauna. The staff said they were one of the only hotels not to offer a general sauna for guests which was disappointing.

Enjoyed our stay here very much. Room was modern, the bed was large and comfortable. The shower was \"big enough\", i.e. it did not feel tight and I am a big guy. The room was also very quiet, so we slept very well. Breakfast was excellent, in a country that tends to have very good hotel breakfasts - a very nice range with some very Finnish features.
I'm not sure how I would feel if it was a work trip - the room setup was not so good for working (i.e., a good place for my laptop and a seat). We also could not get the in-room safe to close (it just said \"error\"), and while we talked to the front desk, that was not fixed.
I would stay again. Nice and reasonably priced (by Finnish standards) eating options nearby, supermarkets and Alko nearby, very close to a major public transport hub.

Great Value but could be better

Great Value for money. Although I paid for a better room I didn't even have a kettle in my room. Don't expect the Fins to fall over their feet to help you. But when they do very friendly and effective.

Paasi Scandi, Helsinki, Finland - 2 stars

The staff was wonderful, however, the hotel is dated. In my room, the lighting was very poor, especially in the bathrooms. There was only a weak florescent light in each bathroom that gave off shadows making it impossible to put my makeup on with any degree of certainty. The other lights in the room ceiling were small spotlights which were placed directly over work areas rather than behind them causing glaring light off of my PC surface. The alternative was to shut off the ceiling lights and depend upon the light mounts on the walls. Either was a poor choice.
When my room was \"cleaned\", the sheet were not changed, but the bed simply remade each morning. Dirty cups, etc., were not removed from the room and the mini-bar was not replenished.
The hotel itself does not have a restaurant, and so I was not able to order a pot of coffee or food from room service. The restaurants that are attached to the conference center have limited hours for service (which is probably simply customary for Finland), but if that is the case, then the hotel should have some food service options available for guests.

Wifi service was inconsistent.

Good location. The bus and tram stop right across the street. The staff were all amazing! We met different staff throughout our stay and they were all very nice! Super patient with my mom too- extra points for that! lol :) Good breakfast. I’d recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Great city centre location for public transport hub for bus, tram and Metro all only 200 metres away. Direct 615 bus from the airport 40 minutes.We had a choice of bath or shower at checkin for our superior rooms which was a good size with seperate shower and toilet rooms. Very wide selection for hot snd cold breakfast but hot dishes only really just \"warm\" as its sll a self sevice buffet. Main city centre attractions within 1km walking distance but as previously mentioned public transport hub 200m away. Good value for Finland.

Stylish room and excellent staff

Staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was very stylish with a very high ceiling. The lighting was a bit excessive with spot lights right on top of the bed. Close to the metro / tram / bus.

Superb Hotel

Clean room, good breakfast buffet and good central location.
The bar was pouring short pints. The bar tender grudgingly topped me up but wasn’t happy that I had pointed it out. For every five beers that they charged for, they would have only been dispensing four.

I thought she had a very poor attitude, so I can’t recommend it.

Lovely hotel with personality!

The hotel is on the grounds of a former circus and the rooms and décor reflect this. We even had a punch bag in our room! Staff are excellent and very helpful. There are three restaurants - a bistro, seafood restaurant and fine dining restaurant all next to the hotel - the meals were so good we usually ended our day in one of them! Hotel is about 10 minutes walk into the centre of town so nice and quiet but within easy walking distance of everything. The breakfast is copious and varied and plenty to get you set up of a day of sightseeing! We would certainly use this hotel again!

Hotel with dirty rooms

The hotel is located and the staff at the reception desk were excellent. The breakfast was good as well. However, we rented two rooms and both were quite dirty, with a sticky film on the night table, dust everywhere (dustballs under the bed, dusty furniture surfaces), and despite repeated requests the room was never properly cleaned. I often sleep under a sheet rather than a comforter, and the maid kept rolling up the sheet and putting it on the floor - presumably, I was meant to unroll it and put it back on the bed. The pillows were uncomfortable. The location is good, taking about 10 minutes to walk to tourist sites and restaurants, with a pleasant inlet just behind the hotel. Would not recommend this hotel until management teach its staff how to properly clean hotel rooms.

Pleasant Stay - Great Location

We enjoyed our stay at the Scandic Paasi, Helsinki. To us the hotel seemed a bit dated for the price we paid for two nights. While everything seemed and looked nice it was a bit dated decor. The room was nice and comfortable. It included a safe and a refrigerator. Both the room and the bathroom were extremely clean and adequate in size. We also had a small balcony to enjoy the outdoors, but the view was only of the inter-courtyard of the hotel. The WiFi was adequate. Probably the best part of this stay was the FANTASTIC breakfast buffet. Very good breakfast selections, from hot food to drinks to bread and fruits. The overall service at the Scandic Paasi was OUTSTANDING, except for the second elevator was unserviceable for one day.

Brilliant hotel in a perfect location!!

The hotel was fantastic, the room was clean and tidy with lots of space in the upgraded room. The only bad thing I can say is that there was no tea or coffee facilities in the room.
The breakfast was great catering for all tastes and plenty of everything. There is a restaurant literally through the courtyard which is great and plays live music on certain nights.
The hotel is in a small square 30 seconds walk from a tram and bus stop which takes you directly into the centre of Helsinki. If you want to walk it is only 15 minutes maximum.
Overall this is a brilliant hotel in a brilliant country!!

Great location

Paasi hotel has excellent location being close to the trendy Kallio area which has many new vegan/healthy places to have a lunch or dinner.
A walking distance from the central Helsinki and they have a free bicycle to use which is a great way of seeing the city as there are bicycle lanes throughout the city.
The hotel room was clean although I missed hair conditioner and a little packet of cotton wool/buds in the bathroom.
A plenty of choice of food in the breakfast and friendly staff. There is nice restaurant called Juttutupa next to the hotel which serves food till late, for room service too.
I would recommend.

Great location and hotel

Excellent hotel in all ways. One of the best hotel buffet breakfasts I have ever had. Fast lifts and very quiet, it was hard to credit that hotel was full.
