There is a massive Easygym right opposite in a building that doesn’t look like a gym at all
Natura Viva nearby for kayaks and paddle boards offers discount for Hotel Rantapuisto guests.
Very tasty breakfast buffet but dinner menu not ideal for hungry teenagers and not much else nearby (without transport)
The best rooms are the Seaside ones

I loved everything about staying here, it was a remarkable experience and I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with staff including those at the nearby restaurant that offers amazing breakfasts. Especially those scrambled eggs, I could eat those every morning for the rest of my life. And the beeswax honey, straight from their terrain. If I had any complaints at all it would be:
1. That I would appreciate if the doors could have slow-close hinges as several tourists would slam their doors and I could feel it in my room.
2. Maybe better soundproofing, or a big friendly sign that tells tourists to please respect others and keep their children quiet inside the hotel as others may be trying to enjoy their vacations as well. Worth a try at least?
3. Perhaps a service to dry our clothes for those who stay longer than a night. I am quite used to hand-washing my clothing but it was a bit weird ironing the moisture out of them before hang-drying overnight to have dry clothes. It could maybe bring more revenue to the hotel, even.

Great location. Property is a little tired, but pleasant. I liked how the building’s architecture fits with surrounding nature. That said, some abandoned construction on site spoils the view a bit. The room was pretty hot probably due to poor insulation and lack of proper ventilation. We had to run a/c all night in order to stay cool. I would’ve preferred to open the window. We tried to open small vents on the sides of the window, but it didn’t help much.
The view however was magnificent. Breakfast was very nice with some traditional dishes along with typical breakfast buffet.

What a great hat!

We would liken this establishment to a lady wearing a big fancy hat but no underwear ! Yes the \"hotel\" is surrounded by trees, yes the \"hotel\" is on the seafront ! When we did eventually get to our room , it was fine, however not particularly clean ! The \"hotel\" does not have a bar! but serves a low grade pump beer, craft beers and glasses of wine over the reception desk at hugely inflated prices. Upon checking in the the \"hotel\" guests are expected to wait in the queue behind those ordering drinks!

Our room was sold to us on the basis that it has a restaurant. Yes we will concede it does have one but was closed on the night of out stay due to it being booked for a function without even the slightest hint of an apology. A limited menu of 4 main courses was offered to us unfortunate ones, again at very high prices which we were expected to eat in the lounge area at a coffee table! We refused on principle even though we had driven all day without eating more than a snack and were to tired to make another car journey to eat.

In an attempt to be fair, we must say that breakfast was fine and that during out travels through Finland we found the attitude towards food to be that of functionality not pleasure. It is a belief that the Finish people are amongst the happiest in Europe, if so, we do ask ourselves is that because they have rather low life expectations.

Great amenities = great value

The hotel was excellent. Breakfast buffet had an assortment of delicious hot and cold selections. The hotel has bicycles for guests, and guests can also use a gym that is steps away from the front door. There’s a room with a small refrigerator, microwave, and iron for guest use. We booked a standard room, which was small, but it was functional and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay (for example, coffee and tea in the room, large screen tv.) There are spacious areas for lounging near the reception desk, indoor and outside, with walking trails around the hotel. A public bus stops right at the hotel and can take guests to the metro stop. With all of these amenities, we would stay here again.

We loved staying at Hotel Rantapuisto! Only a short trip from central Helsinki the hotel is surrounded with beautiful nature and it was quite special to spend some time here. Getting to the hotel without a car seemed a little bit tricky but it was not bad even with luggage and it is definitely worth the trip. We rode around the area with bikes on the recommended seaside route and it was amazing. The only disappointment was that the sauna was under construction but that was just our bad luck.

A good stay in the Helsinki Metro Area

Stayed here recently whilst I was in Helsinki. Upon check in, the staff were friendly and the experience was very quick and smooth. I reserved an apartment as the hotel has 4 on offer, which are located on the periphery of the complex near to the car park. This was nice as you had a good sense of privacy. Unfortunately due to the location of the apartments you do not get a sea view, one of the main attractions of the Hotel Rantapuisto. Aside from the bedroom, the rooms were modern, with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, induction cooker and microwave in the kitchen, and a good sized bathroom, with a shower which could be open plan or enclosed whichever way you choose; the usual soaps and shower gel are provided. Sadly the bedroom was strangely not so much, it was quite plain and tired looking; it definitely needs the refurbishment that has been conducted across much of the estate. However, it does include a decent sized desk, and a 42 inch flatscreen TV. Overall, the rooms were clean though and this includes the beds, and the bathroom. The 2 single beds were comfortable, with a decent duvet and good pillows. Breakfast was included which is served at the Restaurant, where you had hot breakfast options (eggs, hot veg, Finnish mini sausages, bacon etc), cold meats and veg, or cereals with a variety of tea and coffee, all of which was of great quality. There was also a limited selection of vegetarian and low/free of lactose options too. All in all, I am happy to recommend!

Very difficult to locate when new to country and very tired but staff was very helpful and friendly. Would recommend amplifying that you are right on the Baltic Sea and that there is bus service from the corner of the property.

Walking under rain from lobby to room.... no gym included for a room paid U$D 196 per night?. Very small and non comfortable room. Nevertheless, well equiped kitchen and nice breakfast. Nice restaurant, tasty meal, but quite expensive.

Nice but in the middle of nowhere

If you don't have a car don't stay here, way too far in the middle of nowhere... Spent 45 min trying to locate the Night Entrance since the hotel doors are locked past midnight.
The worst was the hotel was going through some repairs and they had to send me to another hotel in my last day there but when i arrived in the other hotel at 4pm they didn't have a room for me... so it was a not so good experience.

Trip to the '60s

A stay in Hotel Rantapuisto is a trip to the '60s congress hotel. It's build 1963 for a training center of Pohjoismaiden Yhdyspankki bank. The place is designed by Ragnar and Martta Ypyä. The design of the hotel is quite unique. Lots of steps everywhere, so it's not really wheelchair or stroller accessible. It was really inconvenient to move with the stroller. Our room was in 'Sea Wing' and had nice sea views. But it was really hot in the room and we couldn't get it any colder without having the window open. The breakfast was pretty tasty. If you want to see something else than Helsinki city center this could be the place to stay.

We arrived to check in at about 2am. The front door to reception was locked, but they did leave our keys to hotel room in safety box. To park our vehicle, it was about 100 yards away from our room. There is a gym across from the hotel, but the entrance is 10 euros per day.

A bit out of the way, but well worth the trip

The hotel is a bit out of the way when it comes to public transportation, but the bus and walk are well worth it. The hotel is nestled in the woods and has a very cosy cabin feel. It is on the lake shore allowing for swimming, fishing, or just a nice evening walk. The rooms are a bit dated, but comfortable and secure. All the doors both outside and in have electronic key locks and/or passcodes so no one other than hotel guests and staff are coming in. The staff were wonderful from check-in to check-out. The main building is beautiful offering both fireside seating areas, as well as patio lounging. The restaurant is amazing. It is medium range in terms of pricing, but the food is well worth it. I ate there for breakfast and two dinners and I have no complaints. The staff and the food were well worth it. This is definitely a place I will stay again...

FYI: Their advice on how to get there by transit is not the best. I recommend taking the airport express to \"Malmi\" (Malm) station, then catching the 560 bus to Ramsinniementie Station (Bound for \"Rastila\"). It's about 30 minutes depending on traffic. From the bus station it is a 10 minute walk down Ramsinniementie street. You'll see the hotel direction sign on the corner to put you in the right direction. The buses come early (5am) and run late (12pm) so it's easy to get to the airport. Plus the 24 hour transit day passes are valid on this bus. It's 3,20 Euro if you want to pay (exact change only).

Hotel in tranquil setting spoiled by loud Band.

There was much to enjoy. Good breakfast and free use of Hotel bikes. Quiet setting and small beach all spoiled by loud Wedding Band and noise from Wedding Guests adjacent to rooms in Forest Wing on Saturday night 2nd July 2016 until after 1am. We called Reception who offered ear plugs! Later we asked Reception to close side door to lessen noise. No action taken. Check with Hotel before you book re commercial events there.

Very Impressed!

My wife and I needed a place to stay for the night and did not want to stay in the city center - we were really impressed! We had a superior room in the Sea Wing and were overwhelmed by the view when we walked into our room - it was really fantastic to look out through the pines to the sea. The room itself was great as well - updated, excellent bed and bedding, excellent bathroom it was very comfortable and was far more then we were expecting.
The overall comfort of the hotel is excellent, it is a classic treasure of of Finnish modern architecture from the 60's. It provides the guest with many places to relax both inside the hotel and the surrounding nature - including a wonderful beach area with sauna - it provides and opportunity to experience the real Zen of Finnish nature but you are surprisingly next to the city. I have lived and traveled extensively in Finland and internationally I feel this has real potential if you are looking for this experience at an reasonable value.
We were not disappointed in the breakfast and in fact I think that it equals or surpasses many of the breakfasts I have had in much higher star rated hotels. We did not have the opportunity to eat another meal but the menu looked very nice - and the views from the restaurant area - both inside and out were fantastic.
The staff was very helpful, friendly, and professional my compliments to the management and staff!

Long weekend trip

Long weekend trip for partners birthday. Lovely location for relaxing holiday which also close to city to venture out. Very peaceful and quiet area.
We rented a car which only used for 5min trip to metro which could park for free for 24hrs and hope onto metro to city centre which 25mins away.
Hotel staff all very helpful and their English is very good. Only issue was restaurant closed Sunday evening which most restaurants in area are also closed but local take-aways are great value and hotel allowed us to bring back to our room. Would happily stay there again.

Decent Stay in the Helsinki Metro Area!

Stayed at the Hotel Rantapuisto twice over a recent roadtrip from Helsinki to the Arctic Ocean, and was quite impressed!

Upon each check in, the staff were friendly and the experience was very quick and smooth. We went for the economy rate, which are the rooms located in the Forest Wing that forms an appendix to the main building which is at the far end of the complex. Here you have not got a sea view, but you still get a glimpse of it. The rooms are modern, with a queen sized double bed (unusual for Nordic/Scandinavian countries, twin beds are the norm here) and en suite bathroom, with either an enclosed or open plan shower depending on which room you are in. The enclosed shower whilst in use did leak a bit underneath the shower door which required some mopping up, but this was no issue in the open plan shower. Further room amenities include a decent sized desk, and a 42 inch flatscreen TV. The usual soaps and shower gel are provided. The rooms were very clean and this includes both the bed and bathroom. The bed was also very comfortable, with a decent duvet and good pillows.

Breakfast was included which is served down at the Restaurant, where you had hot breakfast options (eggs, hot veg, Finnish mini sausages, bacon etc), cold meats and veg, or cereals with a variety of tea and coffee. All of which was of great quality and was good at the start of a busy day. There was also a limited selection of vegetarian and low/free of lactose options too.

The best aspect of this hotel is its location, but only if it's not raining hard. If you want to walk with nature, then this is great.
The evening dinner and drinks option could have been more varied and cheaper. If they could do this, then it would be perfect for visiting Helsinki.

Hotel is situated right by the sea. The air was amazing and the walk into town via the sea side walk was stunning.
Unfortunately Sunday does not see much open so we struggled to eat eventually finding Chico's which served up reasonable food. When open the hotel restaurant was also very good.
Shame that hotel in area we were in smelt a bit musty and was in desperate need of a tidy up but this did not distract from a very pleasant stay.

Amazing value! Originally a banker's training centre, this is in pine forest with views of Gulf of Finland.
Plenty of parking space. 20 minutes by Metro from C. Helsinki, but 20 minutes walk to station. N.b. C. Helsinki parking is difficult and expensive. Excellent food and service, spacious room.

I do NOT recommended this hotel to anyone!

The night we arrived in Helsinki our plane was late coming in and we got lost finding the hotel. When we arrived at the Hotel the front doors were locked finally the desk clerk came and informed us we were late and she wanted to go home so she gave us the room key and told me we had to go all the way around to back of the hotel to dark and dungy door with my 81 year old moms and mine suitcases to get to our room. The hotel is locked down from12:30 am to 7:00am
Our room was not cleaned for three yes 3 days, I asked everyday could it please be cleaned but never was, we had to go buy our own toilet paper in a store. We had no clean cups or glasses the garbage was overflowing and our towels were starting to smell. The room finally got cleaned when I started yelling and making a seen at the front desk demanding to speak with the GM, I never did get to speak to them. Our car was damaged in the parking lot and the free breakfast was terrible we could not eat it! The restaurant meals we could not eat they were as terrible as the breakfast. We checked out 5 days early and were glad to leave. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed at 100's off hotels all over the world. Please do not stay here!!!

Probably the worst hotel stay I have ever encountered. Being a hotelier and frequent traveler, never met with such poor and rude service. After 4 hours waiting for a room, I decided to check-out minutes after check-in
On arriving, a sour faced female receptionist, before greeting me, made the point that I am very early and that the room will not be ready before 4 hours, to which I was prepared,

There was no attempt whatsoever to make my 4 hours wait bearable, let alone enjoyable, or explain where I can spend these 4 hours, places of interest in the area, the beach, the water sports centre on the property, renting a bike etc

When I asked if she can explain where to go and what to do, she just silently pointed at a corner where maps, magazines are laid, none in English

Just before 1pm, I approached the counter to ask where can I have lunch, the answer was that lunch is made exclusive to conference delegates and it finishes 1:15pm, no other place to have lunch, no room service and you have to wait until 5pm when the lounge start serving snacks

When I asked what activities can I do in the area in the evening, places to go, the answer was nothing to do here!

I checked in and decided to leave 30 minutes later, the room was tiny, no air-condition, 15 inch TV that doesn’t work, a bed that fits a child and old tacky furniture, worn linen

Very nice hotel on the beautiful shore of the bay, is located in a pine forest just 15 minutes walk to the subway station. There is a great sauna, with picturesque views of the bay. A more appropriate definition for this hotel is resort. Kayaks (16 euros per two hours) and bicycles are available for rent. A great place for recreation and walks out of the city. To Helsinki can be reached in 30-40 minutes.

It's a good place to stay over if you are travelling by car. Hotel is located in a beautyful location at Helsinki coast area. There is an excellent breakfast included to hotel price. Only disadvantage is that wifi is not included to economy room price.

Great value for money

I've stayed here several times now. The hotel benefits from friendly staff and is always very clean. There's a good buffet breakfast. The rooms are small but perfectly adequate. The hotel location is superb if you want a bit of space and quiet in the trees or down on the waterfront. Don't expect too much late night partying out here, the bar closes at 11pm

It's a bit out of town but you can travel via a combination of local buses (or a modest walk) and the metro into Helsinki. If you have a car, it's about 20 minutes to the city centre and there is plenty of free parking at the hotel, which is a big plus in comparison to parking in the city centre hotels.

Overall, great value for money.

The hotel is far away from Helsinki's downtown, and bad communicated. They don' t offer a shuttle service to the closest metro station. By night, after 23 pm you have to walk more than 30 min from the metro or take a taxi. There is no lamps to read in the bed, neither bar service.

Very Nice Hotel!

This is an extremely nice hotel, but it is way out of the center of Helsinki. If you dont mind using publice transportation, it is fine. Perfect if you have a car. More signage needed to direct guests to the hotel since it is a walk from the main street. Good breakfast and free computer.

Oikein siisti huone, ystävällinen henkilökunta ja hyvä aamupala. Huone oli muuten kolkko ja sisustus hyvin vähäistä, huone oli lisäksi varsin kylmä.

Huone oli siisti ja palvelu ystävällistä. Ovikortti temppuili ja ladattiin pariin kertaan uudestaan. Huomioitiin hieman myöhässä ettei illalla saanut ruokaa. Aamupala oli oikein hyvä ja ympäristö viihtyisä.

Hotelli on aivan ihanan nostalginen ja pihapiiri on upea. Aamupala on 10/10, vegaanit oli todella huomioitu.
Huone kaipaisi päivitystä niin sisältä kuin ulkopuoleltakin. Vierailu oli hyvä ja varmasti vielä mennään uudestaan.
