This is a small bead and breakfast hotel with 5-6 rooms. It’s located in the heart of Sorrento on the Via Academia, one of the many narrow streets comprising Sorrento’s city center. It is less than a 10 minute walk to the Sorrento lift, which provides easy access to the marina and its ferry landing. This is important if you plan to take ferries to and from Naples, Capri, the Amalfi Coast or Rome.
The hotel itself occupies the second floor of one of the many mixed residential/commercial buildings and is reached by an elevator - important in getting luggage up from the street. It’s clean, with a very comfortable vibe. A fantastic terrace covered with an awning and festooned with plants opens off of the common area. Breakfast is served daily in the commons, with tables for dining on the terrace.
The staff is small and pleasant, though unobtrusive. Coming home from a shopping trip or dinner feels like coming home.
Situated as it is in the city center, Academia 39 is within 10-15 minutes walking distance of literally dozens of dining options, from street side cafes with only 2-3 tables to much larger restaurants. All have outdoor dining options, allowing you to enjoy the lively foot traffic that fills the streets throughout the day and late into the evening.

We loved our visit! Accademia 39 is located in Sorrento's historic town center so we could easily wander the narrow traffic-free streets, shops and restaurants. Accomodations were beautiful, relaxed and welcoming, Nadia and Mavi went out of their way to help in guiding and connecting us in how to best explore the Amalfi area. We feel so fortunate to have found this oasis amidst what can be an overwhelmingly bustling area!

This place is absolutely amazing.! Our host made homemade croissants every morning and eggs cooked to order if you wanted, but honestly, there was so much food for breakfast. We didn’t even need eggs. This is a bed-and-breakfast, but it is not your typical bed-and-breakfast where you have 16 to 20 people staying there. This place is very intimate and super private. The courtyard for breakfast is amazing as well as the common room. The rooms are well stocked and beautifully furnished.

Accademia 39 is a special place, and you’ll be very glad you chose to stay here. It’s a former home of opera star Caruso, but that’s not what makes it special… it’s the beautiful decor and staff that welcome you with open arms. To be exact, it was truly a pleasure to meet Mavi, Nadia and Alessandra, the wonderful owner of this Bed and Breakfast, who put her heart and soul into this wonderful bed and breakfast. Everything is immaculate and spotless clean here. Everything! You’re also in the center of Sorrento if you stay in Accademia 39, walking distance to the sea, restaurants, shops and all the sights and sounds this lovely city has to offer. And, if it’s your first time to visit Sorrento Mavi, Nadia and Alessandra will give you superb advice and recommendations. I seldom leave reviews, but I took the time to do so today, because this little spot on earth is almost heaven. I give my strongest recommendations to Accademia 39.

Very nice place to stay. Our room was very quiet. The common areas were very comfortable. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Sorrento and the surrounding areas. The train station and ferry terminal are ten minute walk. If you’re arriving via Naples train station, recommend using the ferry between Sorrento and Naples (rather than the local train) if you have luggage.

This property is a gem! Small and intimate we felt like we were staying in someone’s personal home. Anna and Jon were so gracious and hospitable. We spent a lot of time out on the beautiful and peaceful terrace: breakfast in the morning to an evening bottle of wine we purchased at a nearby shop. We really appreciated all the snacks and tea always available. The location couldn’t be beat! We were off the beaten path in the sense that there was only foot traffic allowed, no cars or scooters. This is a B&B property so not your standard hotel, but the staff is very accommodating and helpful to all needs. It is smaller than staying at one of the larger hotels in the area, which we really enjoyed - it provided a very relaxing place to stay at the end of long days touring the city. It is in the heart of downtown so you are within walking distance of everything. The breakfast in the mornings is delicious and as far as getting there, we took a car service from the Naples train station - which was booked by the staff for us. However, the more local train station in Sorrento is only about a 15 minute walk from the hotel - which also makes it easy to get to some of the surrounding attractions like Pompeii.

What a wonderful bed & breakfast in the heart of Sorrento. We enjoyed a great breakfast on their peaceful patio each morning, perfect for conversation and planning our day. Limited rooms make it extremely quiet. The location is convenient to everything; we had short walks to the Circumvesuviana train, and pickups for day trips and tours. Hardwood floors throughout and a large family room in the center make this feel like you are at a home-away-from-home. We had a wonderful stay, thank you Accademia 39!

This is a lovely comfortable guest house with many personal touches and wonderful attentive staff! We were welcomed with a bottle of prosecco on the terrace and received complimentary lemoncello on another day. Enjoyable breakfast each morning. From this location you can walk to everything in Sorrento. Anna & John took excellent care of us during our stay! Would highly recommend this guest house for anyone looking for a place to stay in the heart of Sorrento!

This boutique hotel experience was truly lovely. They greet you like a friend upon your arrival welcoming you into your temporary home. The vibe is eclectic and warm, with a truly lovely covered patio where breakfast is served. The breakfast was delicious and made to order! The room accommodations are fairly large for Europe, with good strong A/C! The location is also excellent, right off the buzzing main square of Sorrento and next to the marina for quick ferry access.

Visited Accademia 39 for a four day stay in Sorrento. The location was excellent and we enjoyed our stay very much. Room was very comfortable and quite roomy. It is located in a pedestrian only area of Sorrento so we had to walk approximately a short block from the corner where our driver dropped us off- although Victoria did come to the corner and help with our luggage- if mobility is an issue be aware. We loved the location a found it great to walk out the front door and be in the old part of Sorrento. Victoria who checked us in and also also prepared breakfast for most of our time there is a wonderful person- very helpful and interesting. Breakfast was wonderful and Victoria's cakes always delicious. Will definitely stay at Accademia 39 when we visit Sorrento again.

Fantastic hotel in a perfect location. It is just on the edge of Sorrento centre. We went to a different restaurant on each of the 5 nights & walked no further than 100metres as the ones by Accademia are excellent, reasonably priced & plentiful. Cant recommend the Hotel highly enough. Our room had a balcony, spotless, comfy bed & good sized bathroom. The big pluses tho are the fantastic communal terrace where you breakfast & hang out in the evening if you so desire & the brilliant staff.
We did our own thing, a 15 minute walk to the train/bus station, jump on & get to Pompeii or Herculaneum & Vesuvius, pay in on the gate. Similar distance to get to the marina for the ferries to Capri or trips to
