Room was clean and comfortable though a little small, the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very central in Sorrento old town, 15mins walk to the station, 2 mins to the tourist shopping alleys, at least 5 good restaurants (that we used) within 5 mins.

Superb all round experience

Great room - smallish but perfectly planned, including a lovely balcony; welcoming, friendly and efficient staff who couldn’t do enough to help. Sorrento is an excellent bustling, cultural location. The Hotel Astoria is ideally located in the centre but with a quiet, calm ambience.

The room was nice, clean. The outdoor noise wasn’t bad. But you could hear everything in your neighbors room. Bathroom, conversation. And upon our arrival after a long day, we were getting settled and ready to shower and a staff member knocked. Before we could answer the door (about 3 seconds), they walked in. I had to run to the bathroom spilling my coffee everywhere as I was preparing to shower. It was locked but not “double locked”, which we were not instructed on. We thought being in our locked room was sufficient.

This hotel is such a charming hotel that is right in the center of everything . Perfect for my daughter and I to walk to everything from the port , to restaurants and shops. We stayed 6 nights for my daughter’s graduation trip and would 100% stay again. It is the perfect location to be used as a base for day trips to Amalfi coast, capri, and Ischia. The staff was simply phenomenal from the front desk staff to the breakfast crew. Raffaele and Alessandro made our mornings , both so nice and extremely helpful. We can’t thank them enough. The breakfast choices were plentiful but had a lot of pastries which that is not exactly what we were used to . There was fruit and some bacon and eggs and other items we did enjoy but my favorite was a cappuccino machine . I was able to get my coffee fix .

We had a corner room with a wrap around balcony on the second floor. Restaurant below with a great singer/entertainer from 7-10. After 10, plenty quiet for sleep.

They went above and beyond all our expectations. Parking is difficult in Sorrento and they valet parked for the same as regular parking. The hotel bar was cheaper than rest of the area. We had an early departure and they had our bill ready and a takeout meal since we had to leave before breakfast hours. Great location and a beautiful courtyard!

The property itself is cute and in a very good location. We enjoyed our stay, but did have a few issues with how loud things were. For example, there were dogs that barked for very long periods of time, especially in the evening hours, we could hear the man coughing in the room next-door through the wall by our bed many many nights, you can hear toilets flushing above you and the toilet in our room is extremely loud as well. We stayed in room 306. Overall, it was a decent day, the courtyard is adorable. However, we stayed at the end of April. The pool was not open, there were no chairs on the sun deck. I expect we paid less than what others would pay full season, but there were some improvements I would have preferred.

No AC, noisy rooms

The rooms have a door with big gap between the floor and door. Result was we were woken up every single day around 5 or 6 AM with loud conversations from our next door folks. I actually opened our door to check if they were talking in corridor but found that their door was closed and I could still hear them. The hotel says it has AC but it doesn't. It has heater and if you want to cool your room you have to leave the door to your balcony open resulting in no privacy since the balcony faced their seating area for bar.

The balconies have classic views of the square and little shopping streets. Many amazing restaurants right outside the door. When you want to quiet the sounds of singing and and enjoyment, the high quality windows do the job! Este hotel es maravilloso, estuvimos muy contentas, muy bien atendidas, todo estuvo al 100, pero la ubicación, no puede ser mejor, esta’ a una calle y media del mirador don el ascensor para bajar a la playa y al puerto con ferris saliendo cada media hora a capri , Positano , Amalfi, etc.

La calle llena de tiendas y restaurantes, lo tienes todo, hasta una silla de ruedas nos prestaron, y nos atendieron con una calidez asombrosa.

No creo que haya un hotel, donde pongan todo su corazón, su tiempo y conocimiento para atender al huésped como este HOTEL ASTORIA,

The hotel is right in the middle of the old town and really convenient for everything around Sorrento.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and have a traditional feel.
As you are in the old town you will hear everything going on such as nightlife and church bells.
The staff are really nice and always happy to help.
Breakfast is a buffet type and a nice atmosphere albeit a bit quirky.
There is a garden area which is a nice area to sit and have a relaxing drink at good prices.

Place was immaculate but the entry smelled like a garbage dump for 2 days. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were displeased with the room because the bed was more like a boxspring than a mattress and they put us in a room in the rear of the hotel. We had to negotiate 2 different elevators and 2 seperate sets of stairs to get to our room. We had 4 pieces of luggage and we are senior citizens. Biggest plus is the location.

I think when you see pictures of properties online you worry how old they actually are.
This is not really a 4 star for me.
The breakfast area is a complete let down and the poor ceiling condition where food is.
Why decorate in the summer ?
The painter cannot even cut in the lines where there’s a colour change. Why paint metal and wood when it’s not needed?
You’ve got fantastic artists in Italy. You should be using classy decorators not odd job people.
It’s disappointing
Plus the breakfast room is very cramped and why have the eggs steaming out the whole room every morning.
Much of the breakfast was packet form with no thought about homemade or treats.
Some other parts of the hotel were better.
We did have quite a few ants in our room one morning which was dealt with.
Give it it’s an older property that can happen.
The staff were very good and polite.

Now the small swimming area.
The whole set up upstairs could be someone’s balcony not a 4 star.
We could the top of the water where it meets the white trim dirty around the plastic and the water may not filter as well as it should especially in the mornings.
A disappointment all round at £588 for 4 nights maybe that was cheap because it was booked early however I wouldn’t bother

You will have to walk about 100 metres from a paid parked area to get in on cobbled ground
in some areas.

Lovely lady outside selling the souvenirs and good restaurant there too

Good breakfast, daily & nice staff assistance. Driving Access to the hotel from streets impossible. Pull your own luggage up a block on a stone road hoping your wheels won’t fall off. One cleaning lady is not so found of having any kind of conversation, probably won’t say good morning to you either. If you need taxi from the hotel Make sure you ask the receptionist how much is the base rate anywhere, we paid triple for a 4 min ride and driver demanded 20 euros! Other than that - all good and hotel is in a convenient central area.

Night staff was rude

There is 1 floor that I'm guessing is an extention to the hotel so it is in between the 1st and 2nd floor. We had to take an elevator, climb a flight of stairs, take another elevator just to get to the 1.5 floor. My mom is elderly and has a hard time doing stairs, not to mention dragging everyone's luggage up the stairs. I figured since the hotel said they had a lift, that i didn't need to worry about stairs for my mom. The old man at the desk (night shift in guessing) was rude. He handed us 1 key for 3 people. I asked if we could have a 2nd key and he said \"why?\". I have never had anyone ask me that. He said to come back in the morning and ask. The morning guy gave us a 2nd one, no problem. My mom asked for an extra pillow to the same old guy, and he says \"why?\". Bro what? Again, went back the next morning. The location was great and the shower was great. If you don't need to request anything, then go for it.

So DISAPPOINTED

Confused about the actual rating of the hotel. At best this is a Motel 6 (pre refurbishing). We knew it was not a high end hotel however we did not think it would be as bad as it was. First and foremost the room is the size of a shoebox. You must place your check in baggage on the bed to open it. The mold growing on the backside of the tank that hangs on the wall above the toilet was just disgusting. We had 2 rooms and both had it. Now the beds - yes it states a double but it is 2 twins pushed together. They are the worst beds we have all ever had to sleep on. There is no cush. We used the extra pillows and itchy wool blankets to create a few layers. Lastly, when I say you hear everything, I mean you hear everything. It’s all tile. You can hear the phone ring from all the way down the hall. You can hear people in their rooms with the door closed. The only positives are the staff and the actual location if you want to walk right out the door and be in the midst of the hustle and bustle.

They have parking on off site , but the staff is amazing you park it walk to the hotel and they will take care of it. They have a mini pool on the 2nd floor which is nice. Rooms were big. Raffael was so funny and very friendly in the garden during cocktail hour. The front desk staff was super friendly and answered all questions we had. We were steps from the main square which was nice for shopping or food.

This hotel is located in the perfect center of town. Easily accessible to restaurants, shops, and transportation like the train, bus, and marina ferries and private boats. Our room was very tiny and dusty, however the entrance to the hotel is spotless. The walls are very thin, and depending on the guests sleeping next door it may or may not be a big deal. Overall, the perfect central location made it fun for us to travel all along the Amalfi coast and even jump on a train to Rome, and take a ferry to Capri and Naples. It was a very safe hotel to come back to from a long day of wandering and because of that we would stay here again.

Was beautiful room we were in 122 it overlooked the plaza where people were shopping and dining. Chilling on the balcony was so enjoyable. Room had beds for 3, my 7 year old never sleeps in his bed so we had 4 people in the room, this was a corner room so window in bathroom and balcony air flowed well through room with both open, I’m hot all the time this is important for me. Staff was delightful!!! So nice they held our bags before the room was ready and after we Checked out. Happy hour bar had the best lemon spritzers! Gave snacks for the kids. Very centrally located in the heart of the happenings!

A great hotel in the heart of Sorrento. Lovely and clean and helpful staff. The terrace and small pool was a real positive, especially as it costs $30 a sunbed by the sea. But please note it is very noisy at night. The tiled floors echo and the walls are thin. Another word of caution - on the 1st night we were put in what can only be described as a cupboard (room 124) Of course rooms are small but this was tiny and the aircon did not work and no balcony as described on the details. The staff were really nice and moved us but this room should be at a discount.
