This is a quaint hotel but be sure you know which floor your room is on when booking. Ours were fourth floor with a long route to get there and a spiral staircase. Take a backpack for a short stay instead of a suitcase.

Very old hotel. No elevator and you have to go up to a spiral narrow stairs. If you check in past 6 pm, you’ll have to check in with the sister hotel Auberg St Pierre. So many stairs to take from there. Don’t bring any luggage at all. Just backpack. Also not suitable for kids.

Arrived at Mont St. Michel at around 10pm, we called twice to get the code to lift the gate in the parking area on the main land as the first code given didn't work. We walked in with just small backpacks and were shown our room. The rooms were clean and nice but nothing special. Our room was bayview, on the top floor. We room was hot when we arrived because it was a warm day and the windows were all closed. It didn't take long to cool down from the ocean breeze once the windows were opened. We have a great nights sleep except the annoying seagulls woke us up at the crack of dawn. The empty streets of MSM at 6:30am are worth every penny. We'd stay again if we ever went back.

We had a great view of the Abbey at Mont St Michel directly out our window. I liked that the toilet and shower were in separate rooms.
The hotel staff seemed a little surprised when I asked for additional towels. One towel looked like it had dried bird poop on it. Going to a different property to check out was different.
Overall, I loved the experience of being on the rock for the night. If you're looking for modern conveniences and fancy digs, you won't find it here and that's fine. The view and history were worth it.

As long as you have the right expectations, this hotel and its rooms will be fine for an overnight stay. Yes, you need to go up a narrow staircase, yes, the rooms are pretty small. But this is an old building and it served us fine. The shower has surprisingly good pressure and it was clean. They communicated well and also let us stash our bags after checkout so we can roam without our bags.(we only had one large backpack) Just wish we had a view and they gave at least a few bottles of complimentary water (there were 3 in the refrigerator but weren't complimentary)! :)

Lousy little place; very friendly staff

Although Mont St Michel was experiencing a heat wave, we were only offered a tiny fan to provide any relief. It was a clip-on fan. The west-facing room was miserable. I know they can’t control the weather but do better by offering something more than a clip on fan that doesn’t stay upright and is covered in some sort of grease.
The shower was the best thing about the room.

This hotel can get away with murder because of its location. No bellmen so you have to get your luggage up five stories of stairs- very treacherous stairs. Mediocre expensive breakfast in adjacent hotel so don’t believe the photos in the listing. Mont Saint Michel is overrated. There are much better chateaus elsewhere and much better food. Avoid the place.

This hotel and the room i stayed in were absolutely gorgeous! Be prepared to trek up stairs, as there is no elevator. Staff was nice and helpful when they were available. The staff could really use a bit more (English) explanation when it comes to instructions for after the restaurant downstairs closes (maybe a map would help), but I made do with gestures and limited English from the staff.

This was a great room for a night's stay. Very comfortable, a bit small but we loved the view and listening to the night sounds. Be prepared for stairs and you have to remember how to get back to your room. But the staff person was great and we could even store our luggage after we checked out so we could explore.

Good choice if you want to overnight on the island. Just expect to get your exercise from the many stairs to reach your room. Once you get there, the room is nice…and ours had a view of the abbey. Note also that the restaurant (for Auberge Saint Pierre) gives priority to hotel guests.

Wonderful location with views of the abbey and the ocean. Rooms are small but have modern amenities considering the hotel is located in a historical building. I recommend staying two nights so you can get up before the crowds flock in, stay up later to wander the streets after the crowds begin to dissipate, and have an afternoon retreat to put your feet up when the crowds are at their peak. Loved our stay and will dream about returning.

This is one of the few places to stay on Mont Saint-Michel. We decided to splurge because we wanted to experience the island after the crowds were gone. The room was very up-to-date and well thought out. We had a view of the bay and kept the window open all night to stay cool. No cooling otherwise. Also up lots of spiral stairs. We were allowed to leave our backpacks before check in and after check out so we could walk unhindered. Comfy bed, lots of pillows, mini fridge, we didn't try TV. Wonderful shower.

Worth the trip

I will start by saying, my wife and I would definitely stay here again and recommend it. The price is high for the room, but the experience of staying on the wildly crowded island overnight when you can wonder around completely isolated is well worth it. But there are some small things to note. Pick the view of the abbey if you can. It was amazing to watch as the sunset and the lights came on from our room window. Not much to look at on the water side that you haven’t already seen. Restaurant and desk was randomly closed it seemed, but the hotel next door had one and handled everything. The restaurant bit seems trivial but the island shuts down early and having a spot to eat or drink with your lodging would’ve been great. The rooms are a little old but are clean, and you can’t complain too much when visiting a 1300 year old castle. The bed wasn’t amazing but it was doable for a night. Overall, this was one of our favorite parts of our France trip and a stay on the island at La Croix Blanche on Mont St-Michel was a great experience. 8/10

They gave away our room so we had nowhere to stay. Was supposed to be \"pay at hotel\". When we arrived they said they gave it away because it was not pre-paid and no valid c.c. They did not call and said they sent an email earlier that day....they did not! Said it was supposed to be pre paid and any confusion was Expedia's fault!

You check in at a different place so check that out ahead of time. You have to call ahead of time for the electronic code tp park in P3. Do not park until you see P3 parking that says no left turn but make a left turn anyway because this is for hotels. Then you stand in line with everyone else with your luggage to take the free shuttle. Where it drops you off is quite a long walk then to the hotel. Bring the least possible for overnight. You can store your luggage where you check in. You have to carry your luggage both upstairs and then downstairs. Once we checked in we then carried our luggage up 3 flights of narrow winding stairs. The room was great. No air conditioning but you just open the windows. The view is gorgeous. You can hear people talking all night until about 12 midnight then it quiets down. The location permits you to walk all over. In the evening there is a special program inside the abbey. You walk up quite a long way to purchase your tickets and then attend. Many fabulous restaurants all over. I recommend not going in July or August. We could barely move or walk it was so crowded. But we loved the hotel! We enjoyed eating at their partner hotel Auberge St Pierre. It was fabulous!

Know that none of the hotels have AC, it's banned on the island. The location of this hotel is great. Our only problem was the device the room card went into to keep the lights on wasn't working right. We had to keep playing with it to get it to work. Open the windows at night and you'll get a great breeze and it'll be plenty cool. We'd stay there again.

Stayed here in March during the week, and it was delightful. The village is so interesting, the room had all the amenities, and the view looking toward the southeast bay was magnificent. Loved that the Windows opened. Water pressure and heat were excellent to warm up after a cold day outside. That BRD was also super comfortable, and it was silent at night! Definitely memorable. The staff member showed us to our room. It’s definitely a walk into the past, so pack light!

Very nice reception staff at a neighboring hotel as la Croix Blanche was under some renovation/repair at least on ground floor. The circuitous route to get to the room(in the rain) included a outside stairs accessing the ramparts, a short walk along them then a descent and ascent to access the rear entrance to the hotel and finally the forewarned ascent up a few flights to the top floor room. Small room as expected and satisfactory bed and bath. The small windows, indeed, looked out to the tides and was the best aspect of the room in the morning. Did not try breakfast.

The location on Mont Saint Michel is, of course, very unique. That being said, there were no advance instructions on how to access the property, find the check-in desk nor any assistance whatsoever. We wasted 2 hours trying to figure out parking, access to the island and finding the hotel itself.

The room was so noisy during the night hours, that neither my wife nor I could sleep. The bed was uncomfortable and the internet was unusable. The bathroom had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. That is the sole positive note for this property.

Recommendation: Visit Mont Saint Michel during the daytime only and stay elsewhere. It is a beautiful place, but a tourist trap nonetheless. Loud, cramped, rude and extremely expensive.

This location is on Mont St Michel and was wonderful.
We had a 3 person room (only 2 of us) and it had great views of the bay through several windows. It was a two story room with beds up and bath down. Also it was a four story climb to the room, no elevator. This did not bother us at all, but it might be a problem for some travelers. However if you go to Mont St Michel it’s on a 300 foot high rock and it is all up and down stairs and ramps. This hotel is on the Main Street soon after you arrive. The parking is at a lot far from the island, but there are free shuttle buses to get you to the island. You park in lot 3, which is reserved for those staying in this hotel. Be advised- the hotel does not pay your parking, even though some websites say it does. The cost is 14 euros per day. You have to push a button when arriving at the parking to contact the hotel before the gate will open. Mont St Michel is a high cost not very customer friendly place, but beautiful and certain worth the visit. All the restaurants and businesses know you are captive on the island and charge accordingly.
Many of the restaurants close at odd times so eating was a bit of a challenge in the evenings. But, we would stay in this hotel again. The price was quite high for the room, but there is limited space on the island. We believe you need just one night’s stay to see all the island has to offer, as it’s not very big.

We had a comfortable stay at the hotel. Being our first time at Mont St-Michel, we were unaware that cars are not allowed on the tiny island. The hotel didn't communicate this so we were confused about parking and taking the shuttle over. Also it's good we didn't have a lot of luggage because there's a decent amount of walking to get to the hotel and plenty of steps to get to your room They also didn't tell us that we had to check in at a completely different named hotel next door until I called them directly on day of check in due to the confusion.

When you need to walk down your four flights and then up another to check out its hard. When the restaurant is full of tour groups seing who can be the loudest, its not fun. The entrance to the hotel in back was brutal to find in the dark.

If you are looking for the experience of staying on Le Mont-Saint Michel then you won't be disappointed. Doing it once is enough. Our room was above the restaurant. There are no elevators so carrying luggage up several flights on a spiral staircase was more than we bargained for. It was lovely to look down on the shops below and being so close to the abbey. Not much water pressure so don't look for a \"wake up\" shower.

The hotel restaurant was just okay and service was extremely slow but you can’t beat the view especially on the porch. Hotel rooms need an update and room triggered our allergies. However we had lovely little views and overall a charming experience.

Staff was responsive! I emailed some questions and got a response in 1 day. (Took their advice and brought only small luggage to the island! Lots of stairs.) Hotel is located above restaurant of the same name. Check-in was a bit confusing bc we didn't find the front desk. The restaurant staff called the hotel staff for us. We received detailed instructions and settled in. Staying on the island after hours was well worth it. We could see the tides and moon from our room and could access the ramparts from the hotel. Hotel is close to the abbey, were we saw an evening sound/light show and attended morning prayers.

It is hard to rate this place as the setting is so unique and tbh that is what you are paying for and also restricts this from being more comfortable. The service was excellent, the views were fab. But it is a long walk from where the bus service tips you off and was a further 73 steps up a spiral staircase. Then 13 more from our room to our loo. The room was fine but was in the eves which made one of the beds too far from the window and uncomfortably hot. The biggest bonus was that we could be early into the abby and avoid the hordes that we met as we left . I thought i had edited my luggage but if i did it agian i might just have a change of smalls in a paper bag..

There was little to no help from onsite staff. Exit doors on the first level locked from both sides-you literally could not exit the doors after hours, definitely a fire hazard. The shuttle to the parking lot starts running at 7;00am. If you need to leave early it’s a two mile walk to the parking lot.

Location, location, location

The best thing about this hotel, of course, is the location. So glad we stayed on the island! It was magical, and walking around after all of the tourists left was amazing. The hotel itself was undergoing renovations, so the check-in process was at another hotel, which took a lot of time and was annoying. But the staff is very nice. Our room was basic but clean, the view of the tidal flats below was beautiful. One word of caution: do not leave the window open if it's windy. We came back to a room covered in grit even though it was 5 flights up. Also, the staircase would be a challenge for those with mobility or size issues. Lastly, most of the restaurants close before dinner so be prepared. The restaurant at the Hotel Le Mont St Michel was open and quite good.

Great place with friendly staff.

Very nice and very clean rooms. Nice clean bathrooms. The view was was the best. Staff was very friendly and got a pack-n-play up to our room right away (we checked in at 10pm). Great location, right on the island. Breakfast was nice but not a lot of vegan options. They did have a highchair and even a baby changing room. Only thing was there’s a lot of steps, so not really kids friendly or if you have a issue with stairs. Also it was a little cool and rainy and the up room was chilly until the heat kicked in. Also the room was different than the photo online but it was a nice two-story loft room so it was fine.

We arrived late, and gentleman on the night shift took extra care for all our needs. Beautiful view from every direction in and out of room. Also, young lady dealing with guests held our bags the next day after checkout so we could go to mass and see around the abbey. Thank you.

A great place to stay while visiting Mont St. Michel. Our room had a beautiful view of the Abbey. The room, although small, had everything we needed, including good wifi. The only addition that would be nice is a little coffee pot.

The \"views\" from our room required leaning out the small windows. The spiral staircase was poorly lit, sometimes unlit, so we stumbled several times. The room itself was fine, but heavy door closings and ambient noise from adjacent rooms was annoying. The restaurant/pub was closed, but access from the hotel to the ramparts was a big plus.

The hotel lobby is attached to the hotel lobby. Even though the hotel bar was supposed to be open until 9:30pm, after we came back from dinner at 9pm no one was there and we were locked out of our hotel.
