Our trip included Paris, Rouen,. Normandy, St. Malo, Rennes and Nantes. This property was definitely the worst hotel of our trip. Run down property, outdated, no elevator, uninformative, and staff was remarkably unresponsive. We were not informed upfront that weI needed a code to access the property. The staff said they expected our call to inform us. Mercure apparently does not care about its reputation. This is unacceptable and will not stay at Mercure ever again. Negative impression, stale property and the staff simply does not care.

Very close to the mont st. Michel. Easy walk from hotel to the mont. it takes a special code to access the hotel zone by car. We did not receive the code beforehand and had to call, but perhaps the miscommunication was due to booking through Expedia site. Not a big deal but my wife had a borderline breakdown because of it. Doesn’t take much for that tho…

My wife and I really enjoyed our three-day stay at the Mercure in late July. The hotel was clean and had a great breakfast in the nearby restaurant. The best feature was the location. It's near the causeway leading to Mont Saint Michel, which is easily reachable by shuttle and walking. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside was the lack of an elevator/lift, which made carrying luggage to our room difficult (we were on the second floor).

Disappointing stay

This hotel was great for the position as it was very near to Mont Saint Michel there were a few areas we were unhappy with no water in room, there were netflix and amazon on the tv but could not use these as the internet was not strong enough, ai did go and ask about this and they advised it did not work, i would not return to this hotel

The Best Hotel Within Walking Distance to Mont Saint Michel!

We had a fantastic experience at Mercure Mont Saint Michel. It’s the nicest hotel you can find within walking distance of the Mont—comfortable, clean, and perfectly located. The scenic path to Mont Saint Michel is just minutes away, and the free shuttle stops right in front of the hotel for added convenience.

The room was quiet and well-equipped, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. One of our family members accidentally left their iPad behind, and the hotel staff quickly returned it to the front desk and assisted us in retrieving it—even though we were already all the way in Alsace. Their honesty and support truly went above and beyond.

Highly recommended for anyone visiting Mont Saint Michel who wants comfort, convenience, and excellent service!

No coffee maker or iron in room. First room and a horrible smell. Like raw sewage. I asked to move or have them address the problem. The night receptionist appeared very ill that I made the request. Changed my room from one with a canal view, which I had requested, to one with no view at all and many scratches and nicks on the walls.

This hotel (if you’re from the US, it’s more a motel than a hotel) was a good option near MSM. For the two days we were there, it was a perfect balance of price and quality. It’s on the tram line to the island, but far enough away to offer food options and shopping.

Pay attention to your email if you’re staying there. The parking is very hotel convenient, but the process to get to the hotel (and your parking) is complicated, and will be wmailed to you.

The area where hotel is is behind a barrier and the hotel provide an access code in order for you to retrieve an access card. It costs €12.50
Each time you leave, so if you leave and enter twice in a day, that is 2 x €12.50. If you are there for more than one day it is min €12.50 per day.


Area is lovely and quiet around the hotel. Hotel itself is clean and basic, restaurant is fine too. Loads of parking. There is a shuttle bus to the Mont every few minutes, very handy. Be prepared to walk back as it gets really busy on way back.

There are a number of restaurants nearby, all associated with hotels and a snack bar am road the road. As you can imagine everything is a little bit pricey in the shop, water, chocolate, etc. I believe most of the businesses in area are owned by one of two individuals, the Lord Mayor and ex Lord Mayor.

Great location, friendly staff, lovely in room bathroom facilities. Overall average accommodation as room too hot (duvet on bed in hot weather) and air conditioning/heat system impossible to operate effectively. Window does open but you can’t get up and down all night to keep opening and closing it so didn’t sleep well. Breakfast ok, breakfast room lovely and kept clean. Overpriced for quality of accommodation but fabulous to be able easily to access the Mont St Michel from there. Free shuttle very close. All in all enjoyed our visit to this iconic place and the ease of access and comfortable ensuite facilities made up for the uncomfortable aspects.

One star experience in a 4-star hotel

The hotel is in a great location, and with easy access (including being at the bus stop) for Mont Saint Michel. The rooms are very big and the bed is comfy, although the layout is odd, given the the number of compartments (e.g., toilet is separated from the bathroom). Walls are pretty thin. MAJOR ISSUE: Upon entry, there were a number of mosquitos in the room. I swatted a few and hoped that would resolve the issue, but they just kept coming (the window was left open). I informed the front desk, and because the hotel was full, they effectively told me I was out of luck. They dropped off some bug spray and told me to leave the room for 45 min to air out the room after it was used. Given it was very late, and there wasn't really any common space, I didn't have anywhere to go. This made for a frustrating experience since I would've expected a nicer 4-star quality hotel to at least fumigate the room and apologize for the experience. Sadly, didn't get a good night sleep, and wish I would've stayed elsewhere.

4* tourist hotel conveniently situated within walking distance (40 mins) of Mont St Michel, amongst some other hotels. There is a free shuttle to and from the Mont all day. French day visitors use the coach/car park and quickly fill up the shuttle. The parking system is far too complicated and results in queues to exit and pay. Most people stay 1 or 2 nights whilst visiting the Mont which allows early morning or late evening access without the crowds.

Perfect hotel to stay in to visit Mont St Michel! Staff was amazing. Our hotel room looked like it was recently remodeled, it was gorgeous. You do need to make a dinner reservation in advance so beware of that, you can't just show up when you want to eat. Shuttle service to MSM is easy to use, runs every 12 minutes. We went at sunrise & there were very few people at MSM. When we left about 2 hours later, MSM was super crowded. I'd advise to go early.

This was an extremely handy location to visit MSM. Used the parking code to enter La Caserne area, parked right in front of the hotel and walked to the Abbey and back again which we really enjoyed, especially since the bus queues were very long!
Hotel had a very good breakfast and we had dinner there as well which was also good. Very glad the hotel restaurant was open as many hotels and restaurants on the mainland side of the bridge were closed for the season even though the visitors seemed to be numerous. Staying here was a great decision logistically.

Overall this is a nice place to stay when visiting Mont Saint Michel. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. However, it was a disappointment to have to pay each time we went through the gate on the access road. The hotel should provide a complementary code for the access road as it is very expensive to use. The bus shuttle to Mont Saint Michel was great as it is a long walk.

There is a gate at the entrance to a cluster of hotels. Mecure emailed me a code for the gate that did not work. Our group of 8 arrived in two cars, so we needed two codes, but had only the one code that did not work. One of our party spoke French and had a phone that works in Europe. If he had not been with us, we would still be at that gate. Everything else was great.

Proximity to Mont St Michel was a highlight… within walking distance, although shuttles are frequent. The only challenge was the bathroom, located in a closet and super tiny! Location of hotel was excellent! Shuttle to Mont St Michel was right across the street from the hotel. Front desk staff was outstanding as I had trouble finding the hotel.
