It was close hy the airport but difficult to get to. I cant blame the hotel as it was the UBER driver couldnt find it. The staff were friendly but when we asked them to call a driver for us he sent us to a random place elsewhere. Other than that basic but fine

Good Location, Not So Comfortable

The location is the best thing about this hotel, close to restuarants and shoping. The staf is reasonably competent and attentive. The furnature is old and worn out, and the bed was uncomfortable. Housekeeping was far less than sparkling. If you don't mind a little discomfort and want to save money while staying at a good location, then this is the place for you.

This is a 2 start hotel that was extremely inexpensive to stay in therefore I did not expect much. It's located in a nice quiet neiborhood, not too far from City Star Mall ( It took me less than 30mins to walk there. 9min ride). Check-in was quick. Check-in staff spoke and understood english. The room was a decent size and clean. Theres only a shower (no bath) which is extremely small. But the rest of the bathroom is decent. There were a few issues; lots of construction on the 6th floor(Next to my room); Very difficult to find english speaking channels on TV; there is no good view out the window and my room was freezing cold at night. However, construction stopped at a reasonable time; a friend of mind helped me find an English channel and the staff were very responsive to my complaints about the cold and returned repeatedly to adjust the heater. I could not get warm so they moved me to a new room with no problems. (the new room did not have running water but im sure they would have turned it on had I called about it as I had to do with my previous room.
Overall I found this hotel to be pretty good for the price.

- The place is old and shabby, the staff couldn’t speak English and the front desk didn’t care. I asked twice for more towels - they didn’t come until hours later when I was asleep. They did replace the lightbulb over the sink that was burned out when I requested. Overpriced for what you get. + close to airport and great Egyptian breakfast buffet provided. Indian restaurant in basement is very good but pricey.

My overall experience was fair. The hotel furnishings were kind of old and run down. Service was so so. The room was fairly clean. The location is pretty quiet, off of the main street and there is shopping and restuarants within a 5-10 minute walk. The hotel resturant's food was just okay, not very good. There are beter hotels avialable in Cairo for a lower price.

Terrible experience. Huge waste of money.

I've stayed in several hotels in Cairo, and this is by far the worst experience I've had. Dirty shower floor, very old furniture, unfriendly and rude staff, very modest breakfast. Extremely disappointing.

Great service

The staff bent over backwards to make the best of our stay, although it was fairly dirty. Originally we were shown to a room that obviously hadn't been cleaned since the previous guest stayed there. The bellman was so embarrassed that he ran back to the front desk to get the key for a better clean room. It advertises internet...but it only works in the front lobby and you have to pay for it. Their arranged airport shuttle taxi worked wonderfully.

A very pleasant stay.

I must compliment the staff, each and every one was pleasant, courteous and so helpful, the breakfast buffet was excellent, their Indian restaurant food was top class, some areas of decor were a little tired, but overall, the wonderful staff made my stay there a most pleasant experience, and will make this small hotel my base in Cairo. Tom Forsyth, Scotland.

I stayed there for five days, the staff of the hotel were very very friendly, the room is very clean and the location if the place is perfect. The niebourhood was safe and sound. I would deffenatly recommend it to you.

Close to airport, but not my ideal place to stay

I was only here for one night, so I can't say anything about the breakfast. I came here after spending 3 weeks in 5 star resorts and wanted my last night in Egypt to be close to the airport. The staff was very accomodating and even made sure I had a car waiting for me and that I was awake at 1am to catch an early flight out of Cairo. They made change for me, asked if I wanted a boxed breakfast since I was leaving so early (I declined). Overall, the service was very good. I stayed in a small room (twin), which to me was a bit overpriced considering there was not much water pressure and smelled strange and the bed was a bit uncomfortable and there are dogs that bark all night long. But what really made up for it was the super cheap FAST internet. Also, the driver I had from my Gizah hotel had no idea where the hotel was. It's not that well known, so make sure your driver knows where they are going before you leave, or you may end up on a wild goose chase. Also, if you book, make sure you get an updated phone number. The one listed here didn't work. For a few hours of sleep, it was perfect. For a longer stay, I would go stay elsewhere and just plan for a longer taxi ride, as traffic can be intense. In the middle of the night, it was only about a 10 minute ride to the airport.

my stay was very pleasurable. Karvin staff helped in every way including getting me taxis to my conference, calling my hosts to find out how to get there. They went out of their way to help me. I'd recommend others to stay there.

Great place for the money

The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff was very kind and helpful.
The Chinese and Indian restaurants were very good and the roof was a nice hookah lounge and bar...
On the down side, the hotel is located in somewhat crowded residential area and the room had a small fridge but not a mini bar per say...wifi was not free about $9 per 24 hours of connection...
Overall it's a 3 star hotel that is very good for the money... If you are on a budget and just need a place to crash this one is for you

Nightmare in Karvin Hotel

This experience was very bad since the service is not personal. I asked a morning for ironing my shirt (since they don't borrow) and it took so much time that I ended up by not doing it. The staff is letting you wait when you have request and are always \"so sorry\" about their mistakes or overcharge on things that are not suppose to be charged.

After my first night, in my room where there were 2 single beds, they took care of taking one away, letting the room in a messy state without even taking the care of putting a new toilet paper roll.

This experience was bad OVERALL!

Clean, comfortable room. Friendly staff.

Myself and a friend stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in December 11. We found the room clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and the roof-top bar was a great place to relax and smoke shisha. The breakfast was basic but fine for those who aren't too fussy (like us).
In all, I would recommend the Karvin Hotel to anyone:)

Good budget hotel for airport

I would definitely recommend this hotel for reasonably priced accommodation close to the airport. Spacious room with kettle, fridge etc. and decorated to a modern standard. There was a large hair clump in the bathroom when we arrived, and considering the bathroom was quite large, the shower was extremely small, requiring body contortions not to touch the surrounding shoer curtain. The roof top bar was extremely lively, but could not be heard from our room. We had to depart at 6.30am (just as breakfast started) so did not get chance to sample the breakfast menu. Would stay there again if requiring early airport start.

I found this hotel to be clean and comfortable, however the staff frustrated me to no end. I have traveled extensively through Egypt and the Middle East, and I am usually very satisfied with the level of service, however the hotel staff at the Karvin were generally unpleasant and unhelpful.

Excellent customer service at this 3 star hotel near Cairo International Airport

A really nice small hotel. Staff are attentive and want to respond to your needs. Rooms are small but clean; the on-site Indian Restaurant provides healthy, tasty food, and the establishment is no more than 20 minutes from Cairo International Airport. Fellow residents at the hotel are seasoned travelers and business road warriors from all parts of the globe seeking value for $$ and they get it here. Do give this place a go.

Clean hotel close to Airport for o/night stay

After a somewhat diabolical experience arriving at Cairo Airport from London at 12.30am (one and half hours getting through customs) then being scammed BIG time by touts at the airport we finally arrived at the Hotel ONE HOUR after leaving the airport (normally a 10min drive). Not the Hotels fault but it would be wise to ring the hotel from the airport and give directions to the \"taxi\" driver in Arabic on how to get there. The hotel is tucked away up a side street and not known to many \"taxi\" drivers. IT would SAVE a lot of FRUSTRATION and HOT collars.The hotel staff was extremely helpful in all ways including organizing a WHITE taxi with a METER back to the airport the next morning...note the emphasis on WHITE. Room was clean and a hot shower was bliss the next morning while breakfast was simple and enough. If anyone wants a budget hotel for an overnight stay half way between the airport and downtown Cairo this would be my choice again.

Very good value for money for a three star hotel. Clean rooms. Very attentive staff. Very good restaurant choices on site. The rooftop restaturant is a great place to unwind. Superb Indian restaturant downstairs. I would go abck.

Very Nice Hotel

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It was a good sized room, very comfortable, and had a pretty big bathroom for a hotel room. There are plenty of dining choices in the hotel, all of which had some pretty good food. I recommend trying the shisha pipe (it's only tobacco) in the garden room on the roof for anyone that hasn't tried it. It is closer to the airport than downtown Cairo, but the black & white taxis get you anywhere you need to go at a pretty decent price (about $10 average to downtown). The only drawback is that some cab drivers don't know how to get to the hotel, but if you get them in the general area, they have convenient signs of where the hotel is located. Make sure to grab a card with driving directions in Arabic from the hotel.

Ei paha lainkaan. Hyvät ravintolat ja ystävällinen henkilökunta kohottivat hieman nuhraantuneen hotellin imagoa kovasti. Viiden päivän oleskelusta jäi hyvä mieli. Rahalla saa toki viittäkin tähteä, mutta jos yöpyminen, netti, aamupala, turvallisuus, ja hyvä ruoka riittää, niin tänne vaan. Sijainti putiikkien vieressä rauhallisella ja hiljaisella kadulla. Lentoliikenne häiritsee silloin tällöin.
