Such a beautiful and historic place! It’s not just an overnight stay, it’s a full on experience not to be missed. The rooms were more modern and built around the stunning palace at the centre, but everything was comfortable and clean.
The food was also amazing, we had a 6 course set menu with wine and it was well worth the price. The restaurant was rather busy and we had to wait an extremely long time to be seated, over but the Gifinal experience was fabulous

The hotel is on a palace and they treat you like royalty. Great service, beautiful building and grounds. The breakfast is an experience to enjoy. Its on the list of leading hotels of the world and it shows. I have stayed at others in this category and Pestana do not disapoint. Excelent stay.

The palace is beautiful both inside and out. It is located in an area not convenient to shops or restaurants. We stayed in the \"extension building\" which doesn't look like the palace - not as opulent, cared for or stunning. The furniture, woodwork, carpet, and furniture in our room was dated, worn and needing replacement. The shower was so small it was difficult to use. Towel warmer nice but service slow. We tried multiple times on 2 different days to reach the front desk and it just rang. One day we waited for our car for 15 minutes - and when we checked - no one was getting it. This made us late for a reservation. We had a dinner in the restaurant that was OK - not great - disappointing for a special meal and the price - especially considering there were only a few other tables. We received great service at check in and it went down from there. Nothing terrible - but a number of misses and things delayed, unresponsive and tired. Beautiful in public areas but not the stay we wanted to relish.

The hotel is amazing! We have traveled all over the world and this is one of my favorite hotels from all of the ones that I have visited. If you were going to Lisbon this is the hotel you need to stay in if you love history, artwork, Turkish baths, beautiful pools And excellent service

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, but was disappointed that the staff refused to provide an invoice, explaining that they could not issue one because the reservation was made through Hotels.com. I travel frequently for business, and this was the first time I encountered such an issue.

We like this hotel facilities. It is a beautiful hotel. The only thing we feel unsatisfied is the staff. Except the front desk employees, no other employees smile or say “hello” to customers. It looks like none of them are happy working here. It doesn’t like a 5 stars hotel service.

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the start, the customer service was horrible. I had to carry my own luggage to the room, and during check-in the front desk lady seemed to be mocking my appearance simply because I was carrying a backpack.

The overall service felt dismissive and unwelcoming, almost as if guests are only treated well if they “look” a certain way. At breakfast, I felt uncomfortable and out of place the entire time—the atmosphere was anything but inclusive or hospitable.

I cannot recommend this hotel unless you fit the image of the clientele they seem to cater to. Otherwise, expect to be treated poorly. Will not be returning.

Majestic property situated on beautifully landscaped grounds. Great views of the 25 de Abril Bridge and a short drive into both downtown Lisbon or Costa da Caparica if you're looking for beautiful beaches and dining along the coast.

The hotel breakfast buffet was top notch and service all around was excellent. Highly recommend!

Terrible hard bed no mattress topper on it for one night it was like sleeping in the floor when raised with management told no one else had an issue - the next night the bed had a topper on. Sunbeds awful, no service by the pool would not recommend.

Wonderful oasis

This place is an oasis of calm and nature on the city with two pools and amazing breakfasts, really comfortable rooms and a whole spa. The surrounding neighborhood is lovely and not touristy but it’s still really convenient. The service is top notch, Deborah who works at breakfast and the pool bar is an incredibly professional and lovely person and so is Luisa who is part of the breakfast crew. We will be back for sure!

This is a palace suited for a prince/princess. Has olden style victorian decor and furnishings. Great staff. They constantly spray scents around the propety so it will smell exquisite. Everything is great except the rooms have no sound isolation so you will hear what other people are doing next door especiallh when they do xxx but thats ok as long as they are not noisy all the time.

While the location is easy to taxi to all major sites and the gardens, pool and setting are good the hotel is very tired. We had a garden suite and our view (seen below) was of weeds and the room itself was incredibly tired, felt dark with the windows blowing open and roof had water damage.

Breakfast was a mass attack with conference attendees and wedding guests so very little service around for coffee or extras beyond the buffet.

The main house was a series of spectacular rooms with aging furniture that while period were showing signs of their age, both in terms of comfort and looks.

The hotel has the potential but alas is like a visit to an overused hotel in need of investment. Maybe 4 star but definitely not 5 and had it been marketed as that we may have given a better rating.

I highly recommend Pestana Palace for its amazing staff, incredible breakfast, indoor and outdoor pools, beautiful grounds, quiet location and delicious room service. This is one of my top three hotels in the world! Perfect for families and adults. If you are concerned about the location, don't be. It's perfectly relaxing and a cheap Uber ride anywhere.

Pestana Palace oh how I love thee. Amazing people. I made friends with a lot of staff who catered me with warm smile. Coming back after a days out is like coming home. The place is luxurious but not stuffy. After I visited seven upscale hotel in Lisbon, I could definitely say- Pestana Palace is the grandest. This is not a five star property, the photos on the site mainly show the old main building which if you stay in a large suite then it’s ok but the majority stay in the annex buildings which are out of date in bad repair and are noisy beyond compare. So we stayed ten days the pool was never heated the menu was restricted because the main kitchen/chef was being maintained For 10 days!!!!!! Overall this property is good to visit for a photo and then leave it and stay in the center of Lisbon.

I highly recommend you do not stay. Anyone who rates this hotel highly is evidently doing so solely because it is a historic palace. But the actual hotel rooms are literal trash. The air conditioning was not working in the room, and the hotel staff continuously failed to give any real answer to whether it was fixed but instead informed us to go back to the room and see if it was fixed or not. We did not sleep AT ALL for an entire night in scorching heat in the room, and when I finally called at 6am to say something has to be wrong, the front desk told us maintenance wasn’t there till 8am so we’d have to wait and see. We slept half a day away on our tour bus the following day because we were so exhausted from a bad nights sleep. The security in the hotel seems to be entirely nonexistent at night to stop random people from coming into the palace, meanwhile the rooms we were in were both on the first floor with glass doors and easy access from the outside. (I have videos of walking into the hotel past 10pm with no one to be found anywhere near the front gate entrances verifying who was walking into the hotel). The breakfast was terrible - literally uncooked eggs and everything that should have been hot was frigid cold. The servers at the breakfast were useless - it was impossible to get water and coffee.

The hotel and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The breakfast is amazing !!!! The staff is polite. We were only ever in for breakfast so we didn’t have much interaction outside of it but they were all nice regardless. The area though is quite far from everything although there’s ways to get metro and stuff. We mostly just used cabs. Also no Jacuzzi !!! I thought they had one !!
Overall I recommend they stay !!

Throughly enjoyed our stay at Pestana Palace, did not want it to end! The building is as beautiful as the photos, the room was charming, very comfortable bed, incredible buffet breakfast and facilities (pools, gym, sauna and steam room). Very friendly and helpful staff. My only critisism is the price of the drinks at the pool, €42 for two aperol spritz is a bit crazy! Overall, brilliant stay and we will be back.

Palace needs a facelift

Some of the common rooms at the Palace are beautiful while some of the others have very faded and chipped furniture. It’s a shame.

We paid almost $800.00 for a junior suite that was badly in need of repairs, replacement carpet (the carpet was badly stained) and new furniture. I was so looking forward to staying in this property it was a big disappointment.

On the positive side the bellmen, restaurant staff and concierge were very helpful and friendly.

Fantastic service, rooms missing some small touches.

It is definitely a unique property with lots of history. The rooms in the main building are very ornate and cool. The food service for breakfast and in the bar for dinner were really good. Every person that served us was well trained, happy we were there and were on their game.

Some of the rooms had no balcony and were dated. While trying to match the feeling of the palace they missed the mark a little. Only one usb charging outlet.

Beautiful gardens and the converted horse barn across the street for events were spectacular. Too bad the food for events weren’t as good as breakfast and dinner
