We really enjoyed our stay was greeted by a very friendly member of staff who was very kind gave us a tour of the place told us all the important information that we needed to know. It was just a great place to stay would highly recommend you can use the kitchen we had a lovely room the bed was so comfortable.
A very nice and safe neighbourhood don’t forget the comfortable shoes you will need them. Overall we really enjoyed our time here 😊

The staff make this place shine more than anything else. The rooms are clean and the simple food options they provide are perfect; fresh coffee, fruits, bread, jams and occasionally a baked offering would appear in the kitchen. A great place to stay if visiting Lisbon and i’ll definitely be back.

Nous avons séjourné une nuit avant notre retour pour prendre l’avion mais Josua bons adorée tout tout de cette chambre dans une jolie maison!
Nous aurions pu y passer plusieurs jours sans contredit.

Pedro est un hôte super! Parles français en plus c’est un bel ajout.

C’est bien situé dans un quartier pas trop touriste de Lisbonne mais en même temps ça se fait bien à pied disons le Time Out Market est à 25 minutes à pied

The property is located in the historic district of Lisbon, with 28E and other buses literally at the door. We are avid walkers/runners, and it took us less than 20 minutes to get to Tagus River for a scenic walk or run. Estella Basilica and Jardim Estrella are a short stroll away.

Pedro was very kind to deliver adaptors on the evening we arrived after I sent a last minute “help please” email. The staff made our 7-day stay comfortable.

Highly recommend this place.

The staff who I talked to all throughout my stay were nice and friendly! My room and the separate bathroom were clean. I thought my room was nicely decorated too. The guesthouse has a balcony around the corner from the kitchen. Nice place to just relax after a day of exploring the city centre. I was able to use the washer and dryer to clean some of my clothes as I still had other destinations to go during my trip. Because it's a guesthouse, it's different from a hotel. It actually felt like I was staying in a house in Lisbon so this was a nice \"Lisbon experience\". The location is not bad (about 20 mins walk from TimeOut Market). There is a bus stop right in front of the guesthouse so that was good. The only thing I would maybe do differently next time is reserve a room that has its own bathroom inside the suite. One evening I drank too much liquids and kept having to go in/out of my room to use the private bathroom reserved for me. So it was kind of annoying having to walk across the hallway and try not to disturb the other guests.

The only con is the dryer wasn't good. Even after a few hours, some of my clothes were still wet and I had to hang them inside my room.

Overall, nice guesthouse! I recommend staying here.

This is a lovely and very unique place. It is very different from staying in a hotel, it’s a guest house with a nice communal feel but not over the top. There’s a really well equipped communal kitchen with some food and drink provided. Outside my room was a small communal balcony, which was really lovely as the French doors of my room op Ed onto it. It was a smoking area but fortunately not many people smoked, but if they did or if there were people spending a lot of time there or being noisy it would feel a bit imposing. Luckily the place seemed to attract quiet and respectful guests. Earplugs may be good if you’re a light sleeper, just from corridor noise if people are up early. The area itself was lovely and peaceful and a nice park and a few great bars and restaurants very nearby.

I had the room with a private bath. The room was large and bright, nicely decorated, bed was comfortable, and the private bathroom was newly renovated. Carolina the host was was very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent. The whole place was very clean. A fairly quite street, but easy walking distance to several great neighbourhoods.

Amazing place to stay in Lisbon. It’s a guest house but they offer rooms with private bathrooms and the rooms are as comfortable and spacious as any hotel room. They have a big kitchen where you they offer plenty of breakfast items free of charge. The location is prefect. Just few steps from tram 28 that takes you everywhere in the old town. And less than 2 minutes away from Preco- a big grocery store. Would definitely stay there again next time I’m in Lisbon. Ten out of ten

didn’t specify anywhere that it was a share house, expected it to be a hotel however had to share a bathroom with countless random people. upon arrival there were no staff members to show us around or give us a key. We only saw a staff member on our second last day. if we knew it was a share house, we would have stayed in a hotel.

Booked an ensuite room at House Sao Bento for 5 nights. got a call from them on morning of departure advising as we were arriving late there would be no-one to let us in, fair enough, they said I would get a text shortly with details to gain access, also fair enough. Afternoon flight and still waiting for access details, called them and was told would be within the hour, nothing sent until about 6pm, presumably when 'reception' was closing. On landing in Lisbon text came through with details of access codes, and details of 'private bathroom across corridor from the kitchen' not an ensuite, it was late so had to go there. On arrival got in and found the bedroom allocated, no en-suite (I had paid extra for) and not even the key for the private bathroom across the corridor I had meant to be allocated. When I saw a couple of ladies from an adjacent room using the 'allocated bathroom' I asked them, they told me they had also paid for an ensuite and when they complained they were given the key for the one we were promised!!! The public bathroom shared with everyone on the floor was basic, shower didn't fir on the holder on the wall, so you had to hold it to shower. Place is more like a hostel, which is fine if that is what you expect and pay for. We left after the first night and have lodged a complaint with hotels.com, I will also be arranging a chargeback if they do not refund the unused nights, as it was not what was advertised, but NO ensuite, and no staff onsite even next day

This place is a bit out of the way, and its not for people who need lots of attention. But if you want a tastefully appointed room in a nice area for low money, this is the place. I got the double room/shared bathroom and I was quite happy.

Absolutely loved our stay at House Sao Bento Guesthouse. Although reception was not open when we arrived, as our flight was at 10pm, they gave us clear instructions of how to get into the property and where our room was. The property was clean throughout and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I wish we could have stayed here for longer.

There was no A/C and somehow our room was consistently substantially warmer than the hallway, to the point it was difficult to sleep even with fans running and windows open. The shower also would randomly spurt scalding hot and icy cold water for brief intervals, no matter what the temperature was set at.

I thought the property was very cute, historic with charm. They bedroom keys were cute but sometimes took a few tries to work. The room was wonderfully decorated and the bed super comfy.

The things that could be improved...the room started to smell like cigarette smoke near the end of the night. Not sure if it's because i had a room facing the street but as a non smoker this was not ideal. There was no fan in the room, so the air was dead and the street loud from celebrations outside. The other thing was there was no sheet on the bed, there was the fitted sheet and then a duvet. Also i tried to set up the safe as there were no instructions and instead it just locked shut.

Overall i would come back again, the location was nice and the back patio looked very inviting.

I can't say enough nice things about House São Bento and wish I could award it more than five stars. Anna and her colleagues were the perfect hosts and helped us with every aspect of enjoying Lisbon: transportation, recommendations for restaurants and fado, and sightseeing.

Anna and her colleagues are such warm and welcoming people. This hospitality shines through in the guesthouse itself, which features clean and beautiful accommodations, a wonderful kitchen offering free coffee and other goods, and a porch for relaxing and soaking in Lisbon. I highly recommend that anyone considering staying in the São Bento neighborhood of Lisbon, a wonderful part of the city in its own right, should try to reserve a room at House São Bento. We certainly will if / when we return!

We loved at our stay at Sao Bento Guesthouse. The staff are extremely friendly. Our first room we stayed in was noisy from the the apartment above so we asked to upgrade our stay to an ensuite. This was by far the better decision. The room was quiet and the ensuite was amazing. Location is good. Not too far from anything.

The property is in a bit of a blind spot for public transport. There is a bus stop in front of the property and a tram stop around the corner but the tram is always full as in the middle of the line and the buses don't go where we wanted to go. Metro is a good deal further away. We ended up taking a taxi from the train station on arrival. Upstairs neighbours somehow liked stomping and jumping around. Staff are helpful and organised airport transfer.

This hotel and the person is a scam. We cancelled this way in advance, and they charged us the full amount, knowingly that we did not stay there. My credit card and Expedia are looking into it. Please do yourself a favour and avoid this. My wife and I travel all the time and have used Expedia. We never received any confirmation whatsoever, and the owner refuse to refund. It is not even on my cancellation list. AGAIN, THIS PERSON IS A SCAM!!!!

We absolutely loved this guesthouse. We loved the design and feel of the guesthouse and the thoughtful touches (butter, oils, spices to cook with in the kitchen; flavored water and cookies to nibble on; etc.). We liked that the location was in a calm neighborhood that was too touristy and in walking distance of a nice park and cathedral (Estrella). We also loved that Staff was very helpful and helped us arranged an early AM taxi for our departure. Room was small but cute. Only complaint is that the bed was a bit too firm for us. We would definitely stay here again!

A fantastic welcome to a great location

The staff here are what make this place great, they are friendly and helpful.They get in touch even before you arrive to keep you informed and this continues.

Buses (727) and trams (28/28E) are between 1 and 10 minutes walk with trains easy reach from there.

The area of Sao Bento has plenty of food spots too.

A mix of old and new the guesthouse has some funky decor to brighten up the old town building.

Breakfast provisions in the kitchen were a nice touch and welcome surprise too.

I do not recommend to choose this hotel, our room is terrible! No fresh air, the window face to the wall, everyday the smell of the room is disgusting. Those days, in Lisbon, the temperature was around 43 degrees, no air conditioner, only a fan in our room, not very efficient. Even the fridge didn’t work well. But the other side, they have air conditioner and good fridge, we asked staff, she told me that because we choose the economy room. So we won’t have these good conditions. If we knew these before, we won’t choose this room, when we review the pictures they took, we thought it’s a really nice room. But it’s not. Do not trust their pictures

The location of the guesthouse is super. Right by the tram 28 stop, walking distance to many places. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The decor of the place is modern and homely. However I was upset to realise that it can be very noisy. This is my only negative regarding the place. Andy room was right by the front door so maybe some of the other rooms aren’t as bad.

It's a very budget quality experience. We got a suite but the balcony opens to a shared space, which defeats the purpose somewhat. There's no ac, and there are only the doors that open to the public balcony with no options of just opening windows. As a result, on a hot day, it can get somewhat uncomfortable. Furthermore, they don't offer complementary daily room cleaning services.

This guesthouse is a really great place to stay, it is super clean and the rooms are spacious and beds are comfy! The only thing is the walls are paper thin so if you’re a light sleeper keep that in mind - you can hear everything happening outside all night especially on the weekend! It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the city centre which is great too.

Staying here was the highlight of our Lisbon trip. At meal times people from all over the world would gather in the kitchen and drink coffee/wine. Room was great, location was great, and staff was the best. Rafael was the greatest host ever. He was the most knowledgeable and helpful guy I’d ever met. And he spoke about 11 languages, so if he didn’t know something he could find it out. We’d definitely stay here anytime we come to Lisbon.

Amazingly cool guesthouse, excellent location

The moto of this place is 'We are a guesthouse, not a hotel' and they are absolutely right. The idea is that you feel at home while being abroad.

The guesthouse occupies the first floor of a residential building. You will be given an access key for the front door and a second access key for the floor and separately, you have a key for your room, so the security is perfect.

The first day we were welcomed by Anna, who spent about half an hour with us, showing us around the floor occupied by the guesthouse and offering advice on places to visit and eat.

The guesthouse has a kitchen for all the guests.The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need - from a washing machine, hobs, fridge and coffee machine to cutlery and crockery. Every day the staff replentishes the stock with daily products, such as tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, milk, etc. (you can use these for free!)

We had booked a room with our own toilet/bathroom. It was not an en-suite. The toilet/bathroom was opposite our room, which was actually great. Our room was very spacious and the bed was super comfortable (we really miss it now we are back in London). Everything in the guesthouse is clean and smells like air freshener. All the common areas, including the kitchen get cleaned every day.

Locationwise, there is a tram stop for Tram 28 next to the guesthouse and you are 20 minutes away from Cais do Sore where you have the Mercado de Ribeira Market - Lisbon's response to Camden Market.

Perfect location walking distance to everything!

This guesthouse was in a quiet neighbourhood but close to everything,They where just painting the hallways and updating, The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable, The staff was very friendly and helpful. Overall a pleasant experience!

We had an amazing stay at the guesthouse! It was clean and nicely furnished. Most importantly the staff was friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed the communal kitchens, as it allowed us to experience local food. overall we would happily stay again.

Fantastic stay

This is a cozy and unique guest house in a lovely neighbourhood of Lisbon. We enjoyed our stay and the hospitality very much. The room was very clean, as well as common areas. Reception was very sweet and provided great tips for where to eat and what to do. Too bad we only could stay one night!

Lovely Guesthouse With Warm Hospitality

This guesthouse is a lovely place to stay during your trip to Lisbon. The rooms have a lovely feel to them and are very homely. The staff were very friendly. From doing washing to supplying info it was never too much for them. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your own meals. Bathrooms were very clean and never a wait to use them.

Great B&B.Recomend a suite room purely for en suite.Other rooms are fine.There is a shared Kitchen where there is plenty of pots etc to make food for yourself.It has a fridge, electric rings and microwave.It also has a washing machine.There is a small, Shared terrace.Manager very friendly.No.28 tram 2 minutes walk. For centre and behold.

Great location for getting about Lisbon

Very nice guest house, great location on Tram 28 route! Good restaurants within walking distance, if a little hilly! Would happily book again, no complaints at all. Food overall was very good value for Money, locals were very pleasant. That said we did have an issue with pickpockets which could have been worse - they only got away with a make-up purse!
Custard tarts are as good as expected!
