- It was a charming/quaint hotel
- Staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful
- Free breakfast was a plus
- They did let us check in a little early. They also stored our bags when we first got there

Cons:
- WiFi didn’t work in our room and half of the time in the common area
- We were on the ground floor (room 20) and you could hear every sound above us. We had to sleep with AirPods in & white noise to block the heavy foot steps and banging. It was very inconvenient when being jet lagged and needing sleep. This is why we’re giving it 4-stars
- The location was a little out of the way from everything. I wish we were 10 mins closer. We love walking but the hills made this hotel feel inconveniently located

Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Great place to stay

Lovely small hotel - spotlessly clean throughout and beautifully presented. The position means it is easy to reach lots of key areas and/or catch local transport. The staff are all friendly and very helpful and seem to genuinely enjoy working at Charming House. Breakfast is excellent, lots of freshly prepared choices and the hot option is kept topped up rather than a tray cooked at the start and left throughout. We really enjoyed our stay here.

We had a lovely time in Lisbon and are very glad that we chose to stay at this lovely hotel. Superb stay in charming Lisbon hotel

We loved this small charming hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Excellent service.The breakfast was delicious. We had a lovely top floor room with a balcony and view over the rooftops. The air con was very effective at keeping the room cool in the Lisbon heat. We found this B&B for our 2-day layover visit to Lisbon, and we would not hesitate to book it for a future stay. Very close to restaurants, Time Out Market, and the Tram 28 stop. Tram stop to Belém is also a short walk away. Beautiful property!

We stayed here the first week of June 2025 and really enjoyed the proximity to several local sights, restaurants and shops. The pool was chilly but refreshing after long days in the sun. Breakfast was delicious and service was impeccable. Special shoutout to Jess who was incredibly helpful during our stay. The only (slight) drawback was that the rooms aren't all that sound proof and because many folks choose to have breakfast in the courtyard, you're guaranteed to be woken up by 8am.

The service at Dear Lisbon is above and beyond - the staff really want you to feel welcome. Breakfast was excellent, wine was very good, and the beds were comfortable. The only drawback is the rooms are quite small and there is little noise insulation. Earplugs helped with the noise and otherwise we had a wonderful stay.

We had a fantastic stay, the staff friendliness and helpfulness was absolutely outstanding, the room was comfortable, clean and felt beautiful and there was a beautifully presented breakfast with lots of options each morning. The not having drinks or food in your room request, along with a coffee machine and teabags was a little confusing-it would have been nice to have freely had a cup of tea and a biscuit after a day out. Otherwise, I can’t fault this property and would stay again without hesitation. 10/10

Lovely Stay in Lisbon

Lovely hotel in Lisbon, had a quiet location within walking distance to popular sights and many restaurants. Our room was small but clean and comfortable. The service was great, everyone was friendly and very helpful. The hotel included a private courtyard with a small pool as well as a complimentary breakfast buffet each morning. (The buffet had lots of options.) We also enjoyed the welcome treats at check-in. I'd recommend for a couples trip in Lisbon.

The hotel is indeed charming as it's name. The location is good close to Barrio Alto, Chiado and Baixa Bica areas. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is lovely. The only con (for me its a big one) is that the walls between the rooms are paper thin and the floors are extremely squeaky so every movement is heard from neighbouring rooms and from your own room. If you get up for the toilet at night you are sure to wake your partner up :/

Our stay at Dear Lisbon Charming House could not have been better. The hotel itself is beautiful, rooms and communal areas are just lovely to spend time in. The location is excellent, we were able to walk to so many attractions and restaurants - we could have spent our whole stay just enjoying the local neighbourhood without venturing further. The staff were also amazing and attentive - Miguel who welcomed us on our first evening made us feel at home straight away. There are also lots of extra touches that make guests feel important - arranging our airport transfers (on request) was a big help, and we REALLY enjoyed the pasteis de nata waiting for us in our room on arrival! We'll definitely be back and will be recommending to everyone else in the meantime.

This was the best hotel me and my boyfriend have ever stayed in. The service was beyond anything we could have ever wanted or expected, from the welcome drink by the pool, to hand written notes / pastries / port each day. This hotel is a hidden gem. It is in an unexpected location up a steep and narrow street (which is most streets in Lisbon). The location was perfect for exploring the city and right on the tram 28E line -the classic tram around the city. We were in room 13 which overlooked the pool and garden. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The buffet breakfast was lovely and included pastries eggs bacon meats cheeses fresh fruit 4 different juices coffee tea and specialty coffee on request.
The staff were top notch. So helpful with recommendations directions and when we needed to contact our airline they called and spoke to them for us given that we do not speak Portuguese at all. We highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely stay in Lisbon

We reserved the junior suite garden view and it was perfect. The room was clean and spacious and overlooked the pool. The breakfast was quite hearty with many options including some of the best scrambled eggs you could ask for. The staff were all friendly and attentive but Inez was especially helpful. Not only did she give us recommendations for lisbon but she also gave us recs for Porto and Coimbra. We stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip and we're so glad we did.

Above & Beyond service!

So en route to Lisbon from New Jersey I f fell down stairs & sprained my ankle. Ricardo the front desk guy/ went above and beyond to accommodate my handicapped needs. He went multiple times to the store to get ice for my foot and ibuprofen. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody that wants to visit Lisbon. It’s in a cute neighborhood about a three euro Uber ride to just about any restaurant.

Too expensive for the lack of service and respect

On our first evening, after running the AC, we had crumbles all over the floor (it looked like poops…) On our second evening, I had to go ask for more shower gel and shampoo and the employee was unable to find some shampoo for me. Note that the cleaning staff never put new shower gel, soap or shampoo in our toilet. Also, even if the policy about water efficiency and hanging the towels if we didn't need new ones was told to us by two staff, we got new towels everyday. Finally, after we had left the hotel early in the morning with no staff to be found, we were accused by email of stealing the hair dryer that we never had in our room.

A Charming Place to Stay!

Fantastic stay from start to finish. The Staff cannot do enough for you & are so friendly, knowledgeable & helpful across every area of the hotel. The buffet breakfast was very varied & there was plenty of food, which was replenished all the time.

A friend from Porto recommended us to stay here. Overall it was a good pick.

Things to note:

Reception is not 24/7, they have another property nearby that is 24/7 that you can call if you need something, however, there are no phones in the rooms so you'll need to use your cell phone, not ideal for someone without a European cell plan.

Breakfast area is quite cramped and busy, there is a patio which is nice, although, typically filled with smokers. The breakfast itself is not fancy but it was OK, 1-2 fresh fruits + frozen/thawed berries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, pastries/bread, cheese & cold cuts, coffee & tea. It was all fresh, but nothing is made-to-order.

The location is excellent, very convenient, we didn't experience any street noise, but you can hear your neighbors in other rooms coming and going and talking in the hallway. There is no elevator, stairs-only, not a problem for us, but possibly for some.

Overall, it was a good stay without any problems for us and we'd stay again.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. We thought the location was very good. Decent breakfast and plenty of it. The property is decorated stylishly and eclectically. However, our room was very disappointing. I asked for a garden room but once in the room, you couldn’t see the garden. The room (ground floor right at the end of the building) was gloomy and dark and backed onto the street which was noisy particularly the first night when it sounded like crates were being thrown around. The bathroom was awful with a lot of black mould in the shower. There was no seal on the bottom of the door so the floor got soaking wet and the concrete floor has started to break up. When we arrived the toilet seat was broken and on our final morning there was no hot water. Generally, the property needed more attention: dead leaves not cleared up and in the pool; needed painting inside and out. There’s no comfortable chairs in the garden and the patio sofa and chairs had no seat and back cushions. The garden area gets very little sun so the pool is freezing. It cost us £684 for 4 nights which we thought was really expensive. That particular room should be sold at a bargain price.

So sweet and loving. They were so accommodating. I felt that I was staying at a family home in Portugal; the food was home cooked and delicious for breakfast, and they have a beautiful pool area! They have a mini bar set up if you want a glass of wine, and they even had adaptable chargers for guests from different countries. I loved the personal taxi service who helped me to the airport with my luggage! Great place, and I hope to visit someday again.

Long story short... Nice enough Hotel but when they put you in room telling you it’s an upgrade and then you find out after three days that the Junior Suite you were
Booked into is three times the size of the room you’ve been put in and to find the room you were allocated is actually over €100 cheaper! Then the Hotel tries to blame you for not saying something on the first day? We have a naive set of values that is based on trust and honesty.... You don’t expect to be ripped off by an Hotel, which includes dishonesty and deception!! €200 compensation but the memory of this great city remains tainted!!!

We had a great stay at Dear Lisbon - Charming House, which is truly a charming house in a good location in Lisbon. it is about 10 minutes walk (up hill) to Baxia Chiado metro stop. We had a room with a terrace (no.10) and we loved sitting out in the sun. Room was spacious with good bathroom & toiletries. Breakfast had a great selection of fruit, meat, cheeses & mini pastries. We would definitely come back to Lisbon and stay here again!

The staff were incredible, nothing was too much for them even when they were put under pressure on our final day to prepare breakfast, clear tables and refill coffee pot etc. Very polite and helpful.

Dear Lisbon Charming House is such a cute hotel. We were very happy with our stay, the hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. Its in a very central location with lots of great things in the area and well as in walking distance to the center of the city. However, I would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues. There is no elevator and the hotel is located on a narrow road with a very steep hill which most of our taxi and uber drivers wouldn't go up.

Great guesthouse!

Beautiful guesthouse with great service! They helped you with anything you needed! Breakfast was wonderful too! There were many different books to sit and relax and have a glass of wine. Great decor!

Lisboa getaway

Great location to walk around. Scary when you first get there because it is a very small street with no end. They did not answer our request for a greet and meet at the airport because our email went to their spam. Very small room with no space for our bags but we where there only to sleep anyway . Other than that, the breakfast was very good and the staff very attentive and helpful. Lovely decoration all around!

Friendly hotel close to the centre

The staff at this hotel are especially warm, welcoming and helpful which made our trip to Lisbon special. The decor is special too, being a combination of modern with the authentic giving it an unusual quirkiness. The space is deceptive too. If I had one thing to quibble about, it would be that the pool was unheated!

Nice getaway near Barrio Alto

I was looking for a hotel near to a meeting venue and this one fit that bill. When I got there, it was easily missed; I walked right passed it at first. It didn't look much to the world from the outside, however, well inside I found it very nice and cozy, friendly staffed and with a luxury finish and a sense of high-quality and style. The room wasn't large but adequate for me; could have had a partner also but not more. I could open the window myself, which I like, and it was clean with high-quality surfaces. The breakfast was adequate but not at the same standard as the rest of the facility, but the little court yard with the mini-pool added some value. If there was anything that set down my feelings a bit, it was the pile of garbage at the end of the street the first day; probably not the hotel's fault at all but maybe something they should try yo do something about.

Charming room with a balcony looking over the courtyard and pool. Staff were so friendly, location is great ands breakfast was the best out of four hotels this trip. Thank you, dear charming!

Lovely hotel with helpful staff

This hotel is a surprise in an unpreposessing atreet. It is a 10 minute walk from the metro, but the Lisbon sights are all easily accessible. Room

Nice spot, homely and very good service. Problem with noise though (doors a little too quick to slam and feet on steps a bit much) and although room comfortable enough too small for a couple for a few days
