The hotel is exceptional! It smells amazing when you walk in and we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff throughout our entire stay. In the mornings they have a live piano player at breakfast and on weekends there's a violinist as well which makes for a much better alarm clock than your phone! The food was top notch as well. The whole hotel is very well restored and maintained with a romantic feel. If you have time, book a massage in the spa and reserve the Roman bath in the basement for an incredible experience that's very reasonably priced! Every afternoon they have wine tasting in the cellar and there's a fado dinner some nights as well, just check in advance for when those are.

Delightful boutique hotel. The decor harkens back to the early 1900's. Breakfast was excellent. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. You might want to make a reservation for the dinner with Fado performances.

This was one of the best hotels that we stayed at. The service was outstanding. Every person that we interacted with during the stay was polite, helpful and professional. The property has that palace charm and each room at the hotel has uniqueness to it. The staircases are gorgeous, furniture is beautiful, it has sitting rooms, dining room, library and much more. We loved the variety of the breakfast items and how clean the property was. There was a live music during the breakfast with piano and violin players, who were wonderful. Please inquire about their spa services that include sauna. It is about 1 hour spot that my daughter and I have tremendously enjoyed on one of the evening. While at the spa, the towels and robes were provided, along with chocolates and sparkly wine for me :). I loved everything about the hotel. However, the room, while charming, was quite tiny. Also, while tea and ability of bigger size cup to brew, there was no cups to accommodate that, so making tea was somewhat of a hassle that required multi-cup manipulation, so I would recommend adding bigger size caps for the tea drinkers inside the rooms. Otherwise, the room was lovely and had a lot of character. Also, while the hotel was scrubbed to the perfection, sometimes it felt a little bit overwhelming to see all the workers in the lobby continuously scrubbing it. It kind of took away from the experience. However, I would come to this lovely hotel again and again, and my 15 yo teen loved it. Thank you!

For those who long to stay in an 18th or 19th century palace, Palacio fits the bill. The decor brings one back to the luxury of a foregone era, but in a good way and with the inclusion of modern amenities. Also conveniently located near Praca de Luis de Camoes with many dining options nearby and attractions within walking distance.
The sole disappointment was the breakfast experience- we had scheduled a couple of early events and on the first morning were told by staff that taking something to go prior to the official start time of breakfast was not permitted. Disappointed, we were fortunately able to grab some delicious pastries across Praca Camoes which satisfied our need for a quick bite. The next morning, we learned that travel breakfasts are provided for guests with early activities, which is a nice touch, though not nearly as satisfying as a buffet breakfast, but I suppose that is the tradeoff of having a packed schedule. Our final morning, we were finally able to enjoy the breakfast buffet. Overall, I enjoyed the antique decor, staff attentiveness, and location, such that I would return when visiting Lisbon again.

An Exquisite Boutique Hotel

What a \"gem\" of a hotel. The moment we entered we knew we should have stayed earlier in our trip. We were offered a quiet room for team, various cold beverages, just to relax. My wife needed a converter to charge her cellphone and the staff quickly offered her one for use in the lobby. The rooms were large and very comfortable. There is a \"help yourself to wine\" in the basement, allowing you to step outside into a beautiful garden to sit at a fairly private table, or in a room or to take upstairs. Everything is done in a manner to make you feel at home!

Impeccable Service and stunning Room

The service at the hotel was excellent. We arrived a bit earlier than the usual check-in time just to drop off our luggage, but the staff kindly called us shortly after to let us know that our room was ready earlier than expected. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly. One of the staff members took us to our room and gave us a detailed introduction to everything.

When we arrived, we noticed that many staff were diligently cleaning, and it really showed, the room was spotless! The hotel room itself was absolutely stunning, the most beautiful I’ve ever stayed in. The buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options, and we were very satisfied.

If we ever return to Lisbon, we’ll definitely stay here again. I’d love to try one of the other room types next time!

The property is exceptional in many ways - tea services, wine & cheese services, private sitting rooms & gardens, exceptional breakfast service, roman bath & spa among many! The room we stayed in (2nd Floor, Room 4) may have had a mold issue (crumbling paint above the bed and bath area). We woke with sore throats and coughing - possibly attributed to lack of filter changes or mold.

This truly is a gem in Lisbon! From the moment you walk into the Palacio, the staff was so friendly and helpful which sets the tone! Our room was just as pictured and a beautiful bathroom with a garden view. We enjoyed complimentary wine and cheeses in the garden in the afternoon. The breakfast was the best of our 2 week travels in Europe- each room had specially foods while the pianist played music. Highly recommend this 4 ⭐️ which is in my opinion a 5 ⭐️ because of it’s service and ambiance!

This hotel offered a very unique experience - a refurbished palace from 1800!! how fabulous.
there were welcome/anytime drinks at the bar with custard tarts, wine tasting with a great outside lounge area, intimate spa facilities and a great breakfast with hot and cold selections including a great selection of fresh baked pastries. the staff were soooo friendly and helpful. The ONLY negative to be aware of is if you get a room facing the street it may prove to be a bit noisy if you are a light sleeper.

The interior of the hotel and the room is breathtaking. We loved the welcome drink - wine tasting. Dinner + fado performance was great.

Negative things:
Hotel didn't congratulate me on my birthday. During last 10 years travelling around the world on my birthday, it was first time when hotel didn't pay attention and i felt forgotten. It could be some small gesture, like small cake or bottle of wine or even a card. There was 0 attention to it. Also during breakfast no one greeted us, no one explained what and where to find. Some stations we noticed only when we were leaving.
With customer service improved I could 10 out of 10. Now i would rate 7.5 out of 10.

As a result of a flight cancellation we had a one night stay here. We received a very good welcome and were shown to a very splendid looking room. The bed itself was very comfortable but the pillows were artificial and not as comfortable (adequate for purpose but not great). The en-suite shower room was compact, especially when compared to the very spacious bedroom.
Our breakfast experience was haphazard: it was spread across several rooms and there wasn’t anyone to greet us and explain the setup and where to find the various food items that were on offer. Once we had established what was available and where we enjoyed a very good breakfast.

If you want to experience history, convenient location and luxury, coming here is a MUST. I visit here for my birthday in October and I felt like I was in another world. My absolute favorite experience here was the massage and groto! 5stars!! Everyone was friendly and seriously this place is exceptional. You want to feel like royalty and the convenience of all the shops in walking distance was perfect!! I can’t get over how lovely this palace is!! Breakfast was great and so was the complimentary wine. The decor is well maintained and beautiful. I loved having two balconies! I cannot wait to comeback!!

This hotel was the best experience of the six hotels we stayed in over our 10 day vacation. The staff is super welcoming and helpful and their uniforms are magnificently charming. The location was fantastic for walking and touring the Old Town and there were plenty of dining options nearby. The room was quaint and fitting for the time period of that part of town. One fantastic highlight was the evening wine, bread, cheese, and olives in the hotel cellar. Pouring your own wine, any or all of three choices, out of a huge barrel and listening to classic Fado music in the relaxing atmosphere was one of the most memorable experiences we had the entire vacation. Highly recommend this hotel!

The management, Patricia refused to deal with an egregious billing error created by the hotel. I was billed 195 euro last spring by expedia for the 8th night of a 8 night booking, which was cancelled in error by the hotel . After rebooking and paying through expedia for the 8th night, the hotel refused to refund the 195euro on the first booking , and took the room cost from my expedia account again .Patricia had all the proof of payments, but never got back to me, and claimed they received no money from Expedia,despite my proving otherwise with Expedia receipt statements. . Obviously Expedia and my Amex paid for the first 7 nights and the 8th night. Patricia was very unhelpful, asking for copies of my bank account, when it was clear that the 8 nights were paid by credit card. To add insult to injury , after my return home, the hotel billed my US MC $247.45! .So I have to fight for the 195euros, as well as a $247.75 US MC charge. To summarize, I paid 3 times for one night , and I spent several hours trying to resolve it at the hotel with a very uncooperative “ manager “ who was unnecessarily adversarial. I paid $4121.10 for 7 nights for Nos Moscada 05, which was very dated, and a tripping hazard. The walls were sloped, so at 5’2”, I was hitting my head. I was charged 3 times, as outlined previously, for the 8th night. A frustrating and stressful end to an otherwise good vacation.

However, the bathroom hand shower did not work, the hot water was not hot enough, the a/c did not cool the room as well it should have, the room telephone did not work and I could not get a receipt when we checked out. So, I feel a paid a lot of money for one night but the amenities were not up to par.

This hotel is incredible . From the moment we arrived the staff were incredible and accommodating . The room was quaint and it felt like we stepped back in time but with all the modern conveniences required. Breakfast was a feast and we were serenaded each morning by a pianist and violinist a wonderful way to start the day. Complimentary wine and cheese tasting was a lovely touch in the wonderful wine cellar. Location excellent close to lots of landmarks and a few minutes walk to bus , tram and metro . We got a good price on our room through Expedia and although the room was small, it was very comfortable and attractive. The staff were professional, helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and amazing in its variety. The property is a very short walk from the beginning/end of the 24E trolley line and not far from Metro stations, the Rossio train station, and seemingly hundreds of restaurants.

This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at, absolutely deserving of its four stars. I recommend it highly.

This is a one off boutique hotel. Really welcoming and with very friendly staff. Very well appointed rooms. Quirky decoration, very clean and in a good location. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend.

The hotel and staff were very nice. The breakfast was amazing and the pianist playing I. The morning was so special. The staff treat us more like family than just customers. They provided great recommendations for restaurants. The tram is right across the street which was convenient. We will definitely stay here again when we return.

Charming Stay in Lisbon’s Chiado Neighborhood

This is a must stay if you’re visiting Lisbon. The rooms are so charming, the staff welcoming, and the amenities plentiful. It is in a perfect location, walkable to most everything, including a metro, lovely cafes, the waterfront, and other desired sites. Our favorite perk besides the exquisite breakfast spread is the wine cave! We have stayed here twice and we will be back!

It’s quite unfortunate that Palácio das Especiarias was my first stopover in Portugal, because no other hotel after this has been good enough for me.
Apart from its own unique charm, this hotel appears to spare no effort in hosting its guests with great generosity and goodwill.
The two Carla’s are infectious with their cheerfulness, can-do attitude, humor and kindness and they set this tone throughout the hotel to make it a most pleasant and memorable stay.

It was so beautiful! So many living areas to relax in, a lovely courtyard, complimentary cheese platters set out every day in the wine cellar, lovely live fado music every day, lovely breakfasts, helpful and pleasant staff, and convenient to many points of interest.

Very typical charming Portuguese old Palace. The staff was amazing, so friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast with live piano player every morning. You can walk everywhere, so central. Would go back again for sure!
