The hotel itself was charming; however, the room we were given was right next to the front desk on the first floor, facing a busy street. We could hear conversations from the front desk, which made it feel like we had little privacy. Unfortunately, someone had also left the windows open before our arrival, and we didn’t realize it until later.
We stayed for two nights, but both the first night and the following day were very noisy due to loud street noise — people talking and shouting, likely from nearby bars — which made it extremely difficult to relax and sleep.

Wonderful place to stay. Brilliant location which was so close to everything we wanted. Train station just at the bottom of the road which has a supermarket too. The hotel is a lovely little boutique hotel with some really quaint touches. Very clean and all staff couldn’t be more helpful. Should I return to Lisbon .. no need to look elsewhere.. I’ll be returning to this perfect little place and will be recommending to all my friends and family. Thank you all at Alecrim so Chiado..

Special thanks to Claudia, Gonzo, Iara and Victor! ❤️ We stayed in Room 5 which was very spacious and comfortable. Really appreciate the amenities in our room like having wine, daily water, coffee machine, kettle and a table and chairs to sit and relax. We had a view of the city. The breakfast was delicious with fresh squeezed OJ, coffee and made to order eggs and breads and pastry. Location was walkable to most sites. Just be aware there is no elevator if you have mobility issues and the property is located on an incline

We stayed in a deluxe suite and the room was beautiful. Very spacious and airy. Very clean and good sized bathroom. The breakfast is very good, the usual continental foods plus freshly made eggs with ham, cheese and tomato. The setting for breakfast is in a beautiful little room and the fruit and breads are fresh. The staff, especially Vitor, were very helpful and gave us some recommendations for dining. The recommendations were great. We really enjoyed our stay and will hopefully be back in the future.

I got food poisoning from the breakfast on day #2 of my stay. My memories of Portugal will be throwing up in a bucket and lying in bed for three days.
Other reviews say the shower is small and I thought they were being too harsh but let me assure you. It is smaller than a cruise ship shower. Just enough space to wet yourself and that’s it. It was also moldy.
The sheets were clean and the room was well maintained. The location is very convenient- that is why I didn’t give this place 1 star. I would not stay here again though.

Such a charming and lovely spot, steeped in history and in the heart of the Old Town. From the moment we arrived, the staff were lowkey yet welcoming. As we had to leave quite early, before the buffet breakfast, they even arranged to deliver an early morning tray of breakfast basics to our room.
The room was spacious, comfortable, tastefully decorated and had a well-appointed bathroom with quality soap and shampoo in wall dispensers. And the small table for two overlooking the small balcony was delightful. Wish we’d been in Lisbon more than one night - we would have happily stayed a few days!

Our stay at this lovely hotel was booked last minute after another nearby hotel rejected our reservation due to my eight-year-old daughter being on the trip. Alecrim ao Chiado, on the other hand, couldn’t have been more welcoming ! We found this to be a boutique style hotel, with relatively large rooms, in a historic building freshly renovated and bristol clean. Shower was huge with two shower rails / heads and modern amenities all about the room. Fresh large towels, very comfortable linens and bedding plus plenty of water and coffee. Our room happened to be downstairs, in what used to be the stable area hundreds of years ago. It had a neat swinging style outer door, cordoning off the area. The breakfast was lovely and the location is right in the middle of Lisbon’s old town section, with many shops and restaurants and great views of the city nearby. In particular, we enjoyed shopping for a Portuguese tile souvenir at the beautiful tile shop just across the street. Our stay was great at this wonderful little hotel. Service was great and our room was so cute with a large window that opens up to the street. The breakfast was lovely too. And location was the absolute best!

Igor's 25 years of experience and profound knowledge of acupuncture pressure points left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. It was the perfect conclusion to my trip to Portugal. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and had upgraded us to a suite. The room was lovely but the shower was very small and unfortunately our balcony was opposite a very busy and noisy bar so we didn’t get much sleep and I am wondering if we got upgraded as another customer complained about these two things. Also I think the rug could do with replacing. What really made our stay was the location, amazing breakfast and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Thank you.

My wife and I loved our stay at this hotel. The property was in a great location, was clean, safe and the staff was very nice and accommodating. The breakfast offered every morning was fresh and delicious. Our room was very nice and spacious, with nice seating areas and plenty of storage. Our bathroom however was very small and shower challenging to use. The common space in hotel (Lobby, seating areas) was also small. But overall we loved our 5 night stay at Alecrim ao Chiado and would stay there again for sure.

Great boutique hotel in the middle of where you want to be. Easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, public transportation, and sightseeing. The staff was so helpful and accommodating during our entire stay. They even helped to arrange private transportation round trip from the airport before our arrival (per my request). Our room and bathroom were a good size-double sinks and a walk-in shower in the bathroom. The breakfast was great-good assortment of pastries, breads, cereals and made-to-order eggs each morning.
The hotel is multiple levels-breakfast is in the basement and a majority of the rooms are on the second floor. There is not an elevator-which was not an issue for us.
Our room did overlook the main street and we could hear people going home after the bars closed, but since we were there in the off-season it wasnt too bad. Our room did have wooden shutters on the inside as well as heavy curtains so that helped block the noise a little.

The welcome is warm and the service is outstanding. The breakfast is delicious and very well presented with fresh orange juice, fruit salad, eggs your way and lots of other delicious options. Booked Alecrim ao Chiado for extra time in Lisbon after cruise, and was absolutely delighted with everything in this lovely boutique hotel.
The location is great - a short uphill walk to old town with restaurants and downhill to waterfront, and close to buses and trams.
The bedrooms are clean, spacious and well decorated, the breakfast is delicious and all staff are very friendly and helpful.
They pre-arranged taxi transfers from the ship to hotel, and from hotel to airport for us, and all arrangements worked well.
No hesitation to recommend and will stay there again if visiting Lisbon.

From the booking and prior to arrival there was a great level of very helpful and immediate communication. Check in and check out were professional and friendly as was our whole experience. The room was amazing, constantly kept clean, staff were superb, friendly and helpful-felt like being with friends. The breakfast was great too. Wish I could say bad things to keep the place a secret for our next trips to Lisbon! The building was amazing too, easy to get to, close to many sights and travel points too.

It’s an adorable property in terms of the room and over all decor. Location is fantastic in terms of things to do and proximity to metro and 28 trolley. There isn’t an elevator lots of steps on a very steep hill on the road, no one to help you check out early with baggage down the steps. Not ideal for an older or disabled person, or quite frankly anyone who is not strong enough to take luggage up or downstairs, or not in great shape to walk cobblestone hills. The billing is confusing, my reservation said I owed only one night but when I got there they said, Expedia did not charge it’s just to reserve the room. Expedia price and notification to me was in dollars via American Express. When I tried to check in using the Amex card they advised they did not take American Express. They charged us in Euro not Dollars which is higher than the agreed upon fee you/Expedia sent me. Like I said the room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was good the one day we were able to eat (we had an early check out they left us crackers jam and fruit in the room) , but everything else was disappointing, we would like a refund for the overcharge on the euros vs dollar additional charge.

Great property - heart of the nightlife district
Stayed here for one night on a stopover from Paris to the US (if flying TAP airlines, take full advantage of the stopover option). We did a day trip and arrived here in the late afternoon. The property was great. Recently revamped, the room was spacious and very clean. Standup shower was an added bonus. We were in room 6, which, if you read the reviews, has some issues with noise from the big door being knocked on all during the night. I don't know if we were just so tired from our week in Paris that we didn't notice it, or if it just wasn't that bad, but it didn't bother us. You are in the heart of the nightlife district here (3 min walk). We were here in the winter on a Friday and the area started getting really busy around 10pm when we were done with dinner. Our tour guide and also Uber drivers told us that during the summer, it is wall to wall people on the weekend nights and that the clubs don't open until 1am. If you are light sleeper, you may want to keep that in mind. Definitely a great property and one I would return to if back in Lisbon.

Perfectly located in old Lisbon which is great for walking to restaurants, shops, churches, monuments, etc. Room was really nice with Juliet balconies, high ceilings, rain shower, and nice furnishings. There is no elevator but it doesn’t matter since it’s only 1 flight of stairs up from the lobby and they will take your luggage to the room. Overall, pleasant experience and great value.

We had a lovely stay for 4 nights. The location is fantastic - close to restaurants, metro and a short walk to neighborhoods in Lisbon. We stayed in a suite and it was spacious and clean. I really liked having a nice rain showerhead in the bathroom ( with fantastic pressure) as opposed to the hand held shower you see in Europe. The breakfast had a nice selection of breads, pastries, fresh fruit, eggs, juice and coffee. The staff was super helpful. Would come back and stay again
