The location was excellent. The room was beautiful except for climbing stairs. The breakfast was delicious and hearty.

The location is perfect. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed the scrumptious breakfast, slept well on the comfortable bed. There was noise from the street and from the plumbing as mentioned in other reviews, but we were not bothered. The shower/toilet room has no door, so it is ok for my sister and I with the shutter doors closed between the bedroom and the small lounge. The only problem is the TV not having English channels.

The hotel room was good and comfortable, and overall the stay was pleasant. However, the breakfast was very disappointing. There was not much choice available, and when we booked, it was not mentioned that the breakfast would be so limited. It was served in the room, but the portion sizes were extremely small — one slice of toast between two people, one tea bag, and one bottle of water shared between two guests. If you asked for anything extra, they charged additional fees. This did not feel like good value and was quite disappointing.

Everything about the property was excellent. We really enjoyed the staff and their helpfulness, they went out of their way to make our stay special. We highly recommend the property and would visit them again if ever in the area. Our room is extremely large with huge sitting area. The bathroom was a bit small relative to the room size but nothing to complain about. The breakfast was phenomenal and delivered promptly each morning. The rooms are 3 flights up without a lift, but the staff handled out luggage. So it's not a problem unless you have mobility problems.

I had a great one night stay at the Dear Lisbon - Palace Chiado Suites. This is not a hotel to book if you have trouble with stairs, but they do everything possible to make it as easy as possible, including moving your luggage for you promptly. Super friendly staff, unique accommodation and great breakfast delivered to your room. I would highly recommend!

However our room (deluxe suite), thuogh generous in size need at a minimum a coat of paint - wall and doors were chipped and dirty. Our room doors did not seal properly so hallway light was constant all night long. Windows and shutters appear to be original and do not filter out any noise. We could hear people talking late at night, and then there were was garbage pick up 2x in 4 nights, in the middle of the night. There is also a private club in the same building tht holds events - we could hear these as well and were told nothing coukd be done. Understandably this is a older building, but these are things that could be fixed to sone degree.
Our room was to have a 'city view' - our view was the building (windows) across the narrow street - which also forced us to lose the shutters for privacy.

We could hear people talking late at night, and then there were was garbage pick up 2x in 4 nights, in the middle of the night. There is also a private club in the same building tht holds events - we could hear these as well and were told nothing coukd be done. Understandably this is a older building, but these are things that could be fixed to sone degree.
Our room was to have a 'city view' - our view was the building (windows) across the narrow street - which also forced us to lose the shutters for privacy.

We loved the location. We did request a ride from the airport and notified them that there were 4 people. We were picked up by a small car that barely accomodated our luggage. They had a difficult time working with the fact that there were 2 different rooms booked and neither couple were planning on having breakfast together. Also we were given the key to a room that had the wrong name on the welcome letter. The room was truly beautiful with high ceilings and beautiful comfortable bed. The baseboards needed a coat of paint and the carpet although very clean really needed an update. The worse part of the stay was the fact that whenever you used water in the bathroom the pipes would vibrate very loudly. You could not use the toilet at night for fear of waking up your partner.

The building is historic which is a double edged sword. The plumbing is noisy. The windows are not double pane so when the garbage / recycling trucks go by in the middle of the night, it is very loud. The same goes for when the restaurants close and patrons leave and have loud conversations. If you have good ear plugs or are a sound sleeper, this location is prefect.

Lovely decor, it feels like you’re staying somewhere far more expensive and palacial. The only negatives are noise. We were on the street side of the hotel and it was very noisy late into the night, first revellers then bin collections. By night 2 we had resorted to ear plugs to be able to sleep. The water system also creates quite a lot of noise whenever water is run or a toilet flushed. We loved our stay here but, if noise is a concern, it might not be the perfect choice for everyone.

This hotel is a converted 1846 residence. It still contains many fine details of the era like fine plaster ceilings, yet still feels comfortably modern. The staff is very attentive to guest needs. I stayed here just for a night when returning from Porto and before leaving Portugal. It's near the top of the hill for Chiado and only a few blocks from the shopping area and very convenient for restaurants in the area. I had room #9 and it was enormous with two windows overlooking much of the city including views of the waterfront and the Castelo Sao Jorge. I mentioned to them one small maintenance issue when I departed but otherwise everything was flawless.
For those with mobility issues, be aware that because this is a former Palace, it does NOT have an elevator and there are 33 steps to access the level with the rooms.

This hotel was awesome. The room was huge and amazing. Literally a palace room. Biggest hotel room I’ve ever been in. The staff were so amazing. They helped me out a lot to arrange a surprise for my fiancés birthday. Maria was great at responding as were the rest of her colleagues. Breakfast was also fantastic. Having never before been to Lisbon, I didn’t know what the best areas were and where to stay. Well I hit the jackpot with this hotel, just one plus off a main street with shopping and restaurants. The moment you check into this hotel you will feel like royalty which makes sense since the building used to be a palace. The staff are very nice and will cater to your every need. Beautifully appointed spacious rooms with all the modern conveniences. They also provide you with a lovely hot breakfast personally delivered every morning to your room. One drawback though is that because it's an old building there is no elevator so if you have heavy luggage you are going to have to haul it up four or six flights of stairs depending on where your room is. This property is also located in a prime location with lots of sites no more than 15 minutes away and plenty of great places to eat and shop.

However, the elderly and physically challenged and others should be aware that every room requires climbing multiple floors of stairs and that there is no elevator. Additionally, the front desk is only staffed till 4 or 5 p.m., so checking in after that may require special arrangements, if late check in is possible at all. Otherwise a very nice place.

Had a wonderful stay! Andreia was super warm and helpful. The room was large, comfortable, well equipped, tastefully designed and well maintained. The morning breakfast served to the room really added to the palace feel. Lastly, the location is really convenient. Most of the important sites are walking distance away. Would 100% stay again.

From the moment we walked in, we knew we had made a perfect choice. This renovated palace has all the charm of an old place and the comforts of modernity. Beautiful place, airy, spacious, impeccably clean rooms (we are very picky hotel guests and carry disinfecting wipes with us—never felt the need to use them), great shower, all the amenities, super breakfast served in your room, with freshly squeezed orange juice, omelette, fresh fruit, pastelitos, croissants and more. A banquet! You can choose between fresh mint water or port while you sit in the carpeted reception area facing gorgeous tile art work. The service is impeccable. Delicious chocolate left after they clean the room. The staff is superfriendly and helpful in every way and just fun to be around.
Frankly, we are spoiled now! Can’t wait to come back and will recommend to family and friends. Excellent!! The best! Thank you for making our stay in Lisbon great!

(It's been created from an older home and has stairs, which is a consideration for people with mobility issues, but I'm 68 and had no trouble.)

This is a small guest house in a very central location but set off in a quiet side street. The location has great walking access to all of the public transportation and is in a lively area. There was a beautiful breakfast and everything new and clean but in a 19th century building. The room was superb and the staff very dedicated to running the place. There is nothing at all negative unless one would rather be in a modern hotel with fitness club and all that nonsense. Fatima, the manager has more than the normal enthusiasm about this house which is in the former downtown digs of a Viscount. I hesitate to give it such glowing reviews out of fear that it won't be available next time I'm in Lisbon, but in all honesty, this place is a gem and totally unique.
