This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had.
•Hygiene: There were cockroaches in the room—we killed three ourselves.
•Room Condition: All three lamps in the room were broken. The room wasn’t cleaned during our stay until we complained, and while towels were changed every other day, dirty ones were left in the room.
•Safety: Several electrical outlets were missing covers, exposing live wires—an extremely dangerous situation, especially since we had a toddler with us.

We stayed only because we couldn’t find another place. Honestly, sleeping on the street might have been cleaner and safer.

Despite raising these concerns with the hotel directly, we received nothing but poor excuses and no real resolution. Avoid this place at all costs.

I think more and better quality photos of the property would have been better. The room was fine and the beds / pillows were very comfortable. The problem was the bathroom which had a sewage smell during our entire stay. If the bathroom door was left open the entire unit would smell. This was a deal breaker for us and I do not plan to return. Friends who stayed in a unit on another floor also had the same bathroom sewage smell (same dates). The shower stall looked dated and the fixture was semi-broken. If the bathroom shower stall / fixtures were repaired and the smell was dealt with then this would be 5 star property.
I do have to say that the ladies at the reception were excellent to deal with.

Well check in time was 1400 hours, but they were still cleaning the room. So they said that we could go and sit on the sofa while the cleaner was finishing. There was no sofa so we waited for 30 minutes. The bathroom was cleanish but had a bit of mildew on the ceiling, the shower holder was broken the shower doors had not been cleaned in a while. The kitchen/living area wasn’t practical unable to use hob and sink correctly due to it being crammed into a small area. As well as chipped and cracked crockery. Very little communication from staff almost had to force some information out of them. Should have had a sofa instead we had 2 single beds which they said were an upgrade. The people upstairs were like a small herd of elephants, I realise this can’t be helped. The location was good and accessible to restaurants, shops and tourist attractions that is about the only positive thing about it. I would recommend it for one night only.

Check in was ok. The office was very small and uncomfortable. Once checked in, we went to our room and turned on the a/c which cooled down the room - then we discovered that we had 2 a/c which was even better especially in the 30-plus weather. Room was good, shower was small and the sink needed getting used to - have to experience it to understand. Room has a bar fridge, small stove, microwave, sink and came with dishes and cutlery. Even had a small washing machine - no dryer though. Very close to bakeries, restaurants, metro, and shopping district. Overall, happy with the stay.

This is close to most main attractions. The more you walk around the more you realize it is the perfect location. Even only 20-25 min walk to the cruise terminal. Not as hilly in this location for walking. The sofa bed was not comfortable, you could feel the springs. It would benefit from another small mattress overtop. Upper shower head holder was lose/broken but the mid one was solid.

Slightly Worse than Expected Experience

While the people were friendly and the apartment was clean, the experience still slightly disappointing compared to the images on the listing. The apartment—and particularly the kitchen—was significantly more cramped than usual, and there were signs of disrepair in the bathroom—particularly in the case of the shower, whose paint had begun to peel.

Close to must all Landmarks you want to see. Uber can take at very reasonable price around Lisbon.
The restroom lab a little weird. Is difficult to wash you face without bumping you head against the faucet.

Once we got checked in, everything was excellent. Adequate space--a little tight around the bed, but a nice kitchenette and bathroom. Great area in old Lisbon with lots of restaurants with lots of outdoor seating close by. Our biggest issue was finding the place. It's actually studios in an apartment building with no sign outside. We tried calling several times, but no answer (found out later the phone # was wrong.) Found later in small print was a request to check in 24 hours before--we were coming off a cruise with limited internet. Never got an email asking for confirmation. Also lists an elevator; however it starts at 1st floor rather than ground floor which was a bit tricky for my husband who has mobility issues. Great place for people wanting to see the older part of the city, but can handle the stairs.

In a great location, just a few minutes walk to the metro station and easily walkable to shops and restaurants in the area. Our unit was clean and quiet, with airtight louvred windows that kept out the street noise. Comfortable bed, hot water and great water pressure in the shower. Small kitchenette, although we did not need to use it other than for the fridge. Easy check-in and friendly office staff. A great stay!!

I loved the location - we were able to walk to everything we needed and wanted to experience. The office staff was wonderfully helpful. It can get a bit noisy at night, but that's when I turned on the air conditioner for a sound barrier. Our room was perfect for two people, and the location is set between two cafes for easy access to coffee and daytime meal needs. I almost missed check-in due to plane and phone issues, but made it just in time.

Location of this apartment was ideal for walking to many of the beautiful areas in Lisbon . Cafes , restaurants, shops - all walkable. 2 cafes right outside door of apartment. ( both of which I recommend for food choices. This apartment is also very close to transit ( trams , buses )
Apartment was small but well equipped ( small kitchen as well ) air conditioning unit quiet and climate control remote. Communication was excellent - no wait time for response. And during our 7 day stay, room cleaned and fresh towels 3 times !
The only negative, and keep in consideration if you are a light sleeper , although the windows were well insulated and we did not hear any street nose , there was LOT of noise from apartment above - floors are wood and we heard all their foot steps - woke us up a few times.
But overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend- just bring ear plugs.

The location was fantastic, close to metro, tram & buses. The apartment itself was a good size, and nice to have a kitchenette to use. The beds were very comfortable and the toiletries for use in the bathroom were lovely.
Unfortunately the safe didn’t work, one of the beds had marks on the sheet,the 3rd bed which we thought was a sofa bed was made up as a bed, despite the booking being only for 2 people which was a bit disappointing and despite reporting these issues, nothing was done to resolve during our stay.

We enjoined the location of the property a lot. The property was located just a couple of blocks to a main metro station. That was really convenience. What we disliked the much was the condition of the apartment The blankets weren’t cleaned. We stayed for a week, and during this time the apartment was only cleaned twice. It would have be nice to have a clean bathroom at least every other day. Some details in the apartment need atención like a defective light in the main bedroom and the squeaking floor.

The property is located perfectly within walking distance of everything. The location is great. It was quiet and comfortable. My only complaint is the WIFI. It was terrible. It was weak, kept dropping off every few minutes. I brought this up at the front desk and the woman stated she would look into. Nothing to look into except her better WIFI. In today’s world it’s a must. I would stay at this property again if I knew the WIFI was working properly. But that most like will not happen therefore I would not return.

Also I stayed on the top floor and the light are motion sensors. The light out stand my room leading downstairs was broken. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to see until I reach the lower level where the light would torn on. The light at the top of the stairs was broken and was never fixed during my five day stay.

The location was superb - everything within walking distance. The metro station was about a 2 minute walk to the apartment and this was marvellous. Check in was easy and the staff were very nice and helpful. The apartment itself was very spacious, clean and felt modern. The bathroom was great, kitchen fantastic and the double bed was really comfortable. The view of the street from our balcony was a fabulous addition. We would not hesitate to return to this accommodation - 10 out of 10.

there's a lot of bang for your buck (or euro). An entire apartment (I thought the Expedia listing was exaggerated, but it was spot-on) in the middle of town, 100 m from the metro Baixa-Chiado - in terms of transport and connectedness you simply can't do much better.
A few glitches: none of the Wlans listed reached my unit (I was in the topmost, right under the roof) and the one that did, dropped out every 10 seconds, but I used my phone as a hot spot and am pretty confident that was just a bug, not a feature. For a longer stay, I would have insisted, for two nights not worth the trouble. For a longer stay, a real desk would also be useful, but other than that, a very complete accomodation, central and excellent price. Highly recommended,

Great location. Central to all the places you care to visit. Lots of restaurants near by. Quiet street. A block from the metro station. The front desk is on the first floor. You have to carry your luggage from the ground floor to the first floor, then you can use the elevator. Rooms are large, recent remodeling. On two occasions, I had to step on a large roach ( body 5cm long) crossing the floor. Not surprised as there was tons of dust and debris under the sofa's and bed. The on-demand hot water system barely keeps up. Second person in the shower often had to hurry up. Otherwise was a good place to stay. Safe neighborhood but watch for pickpockets on the bus/metro/trolleys.

Nice clean place in the old part of Lisbon. Very close to everything you need to have a great experience. A good size place with a kitchen and a step out balcony which we enjoyed. We were with our son so it would have been nice to have a door to the main bedroom to create so separation. That’s about the only suggestion I can make. Thanks

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this property. Given the area is busy the rooms were very quiet. It was comforting and useful having staff at the building that we could communicate with and assist us or give suggestions. In our room I suggest a few items be maintained including squeaky floor boards and a loosely mounted air conditioner. Also additional shelving in the bathroom would be useful to help with storing toiletries.

The worse part of this property is lack of staff support after hours .

We accidentally pressed the passcode of the room keypad twice and since then we could not open the door no matter how many times we pressed the correct code number .

Then I called the contact number but was all spoken in Portuguese but not English . I just could not understand what it said . There was no body replied me. Then I SMS to the contact number, again no reply. My husband and myself were extremely disappointed , angry , tired and frustrated as we were locked outside the room around 9:30 pm .

It was only after 20 minutes then I got a call back from a man . My husband explained to him what had happened and he then reset the keypad number before we could finally open the door!!! This is the main difference between a hotel with 24 hours staff support and a 3 star service apartment with only a few hours staff support in the day time . Hope this apartment has more staff support and more English translation in the contact number.

They should have communicated the check in process (i.e. required a code in order to get in the building). The 'Front Office' is not a reception where you could just walk into from outside. It it just a small office accessible only after you get in the building (which you can't without the code that you never been informed). We were able to get in after someone get out from the property. When we got in, there was only a little toilet paper. So we end up buying toilet paper ourselves as the 'Front Desk' is only available 9am to 6pm. Also, there is no soap/shampoo/conditioner in the unit. Space is pretty large and location is excellent. Just 50 m from Baixa Chiado metro station

Location of the hotel was excellent. Very close to a lot of dining and shopping options and we felt very safe to walk even past midnight. The front desk staff were very helpful. Apartment was congested for a family of four and was a bit claustrophobic. The ceiling was not sound proof enough and every time someone even walked in the apartment above, it made a lot of noise.

We chose this property for its location. Which is pretty good. But that's where the positives end.

We arrived early after disembarking from a cruise ship.
There is absolutely no after-hours assistance. We had hoped to access our room a bit early as to not waste our day in Lisbon waiting with luggage and for the room. We were not able to access even the hotel before our check-in time. We were fortunate enough to get some help from another traveler to store our luggage in their room which was a little risky but worked out.

The hotel is not marked and is very difficult to find. (We didn't have a single Uber driver or taxi able to find it either. - We had to go to another nearby hotel if we wanted to be picked up).

While there is an elevator at the property, it only goes between the 2nd and 5th floors, there are very daunting steps as you enter. You will want to avoid this location if mobility is even the slightest issue for you.

The hotel made an error setting up our room door code. We were locked out on the second day. If we were after hours, we would have been sleeping elsewhere that night.

We were never offered clean towels or servicing of the room of any kind. We happened by a maid that didn't speak English who handed us bedding which we had to make up ourselves. We ran out of toilet paper on the second day and had to fend for ourselves on that topic. There is a dog there, which we never saw but certainly heard. Mould was observed in the bathroom.

But don’t rent this if you want to do a lot of cooking. Minimal supplies in the kitchen. Also there is no couch in the living room. Only 2 single beds. It did not bother us as we spent most of our time outside.

Perfect Accommodation - Pateo Saudade Lofts!!!

Your hotel was perfect. We did not expect a lot....but was extremely satisfied with the accommodation that was provided. The room was so nice....it looks recently painted. It is so simple and nice.

At first, the front door was a little hard to find. And there was really no visible reception office or front desk. But there was really no need for one. Absolutely not needed at all...once you have checked-in.

The location of the lofts was perfect. It was not on the main street where tourists are noisy. It is on one of the secondary streets, just a few steps away....but still in the main tourist district of downtown Lisbon. You can easily go back and take a short nap mid-day.

When we were doing our research, you can read a lot of frightening accounts of accommodations with no elevators, small staircases, no hot water, noisy rooms, etc. There was none of any of these at Pateo Saudade Lofts.

After Lisbon...we proceeded to Barcelona and Madrid and stayed at 4-star hotels. The rooms at Pateo Saudade are just as nice at these hotels.....just without the front desk/reception. But as a tourist.....after you check-in, you do not need the front desk/reception. All you need is a nice clean room (and bathroom) to rest at the end of a long busy walking-around day.

Pateo Saudade Lofts.....are perfect!!! Very much recommended to everyone.

The other reviews are correct the location is excellent and the staff nice and helpful. They arranged for a car service back to airport that was excellent. Things to note: elevator is located up a long flight of stairs from the entrance door which is not ideal if you have heavy luggage. The room is a bit tired and needs a refresh and our main room where a very small sofa and kitchenette are located is virtually unusable because of low ceilings and very narrow layout. The sofa cannot be used without hitting your head on the sloping roofline. We were in 602.

Overall stay was good, but there’s a hiccup with the key box when we arrive past 11pm(prev. notified). There was not key for us to get in the building. If it were for some nice guests arriving at that time we would’ve slept on the street because there’s no way to get to our loft. We were given a key next AM and Evelin apologized for the issue.

Great location, less than a minute to the Rossio metro. Very close to the waterfront and surrounding neighborhoods. A short walk to Restauradores square but there are plenty of local restuarants close by as well.Extremely clean and updated rooms.
The only noise I heard was from the upper floor as the floors are wood and you can hear footsteps or sliding of chairs.
Otherwise, the one bedroom suite with pull out couch was perfect for our mother/daughter trip to Lisbon.
Some difficulty with the Wifi but our host who was present from 9-6 took our concerns very serioulsy and responded in a timely manner.
Excellent service from the office staff.

Did not get the rooms we booked

We booked 2 rooms with 2 Twin Beds and 1 Twin Sofa Bed (studio for 3 people) for 6 nights. We arrived after the office hours and used the code to get into the rooms. The assigned rooms were not the ones we booked. There were 2 rooms with one queen bed and no sofa bed (studio for 2 people). Next day we let the reception know and ask for the rooms to be changed according to our booking. They told us they don't have any rooms available and maybe they can change them the next day. The next day we were postponed again for the next day while a room of the type we booked just became available next to our room. However, they said that room is booked and they cannot give it to us. Then we ask for a refund since the rooms we booked were more expensive. First they said it is not possible to get a refund. After lots of back and force and another visit to the office we finally got refunded the difference between the rooms we booked and the rooms we received. However, this very bad experience spoiled a couple of days of our vacation.

We tried not to spoil our vacation by these events but we will not wish anyone such bad experience.

The location was excellent, close to many places like the Cormenious Plaza, City Hall, small shopping center, ceramic store, Metro station within walking distance.
The Cruise terminal and St Apolonia train station were 6 to 9 Euros by taxi.

The staff at reception were superb, very helpful in answering all our questions. They called the taxi for us to the train station, etc.
We stayed one night.

The only thing we didn't like was that we heard very heavy footsteps when the tourists above our loft walked around, maybe because the floor is wood and they wore shoes.

Fantastic location with comfortable beds

We've stayed here multiple times and feel like we're coming home whenever we get there. The location is perfect and walkable to do much to do and eat. The beds are so comfortable and having a kitchen and dining table is so convenient. Recommend this place to everyone who goes to Lisbon.

Perfect location, great apartments

The location is fantastic. You can walk to so much. Evylin in the office is fantastic and helped organize cars to and from the airport and a late check in. I've stayed here twice and the apartments are comfortable and it's nice to have a fridge and space to spread out.

The location was fantastic - steps away from the Baixa Chiado metro station and a short walk from the larger Rossio and Cais de Sodre stations. The room included modern amenities including air conditioning, a decent-sized hot water heater, and a kitchen with dishes and cookware. Bed was comfortable and the building was located on a very quiet street.

We just loved the place, it has a perfect location close to many interest points in Lisboa like the Santa Julia elevator, plaza of commerce, san jorge castle, lisbon cathedral, all wallking distance. Metro and other public transportation is right there as well.

It is a nice cozy place, rooms are clean and well maintained. It has everything for a comfortable stay in one of the nicest areas.

We have stayed at these lofts previous...really good experience. On this stay it was good but the apartment needed some routine maintenance...light bulbs in the bath and shower head adjusted...small things but... The staff is friendly and provided recommendations on where to park based on cost and walking distance. Close to restaurant's and shops. Within 4-5 minutes of the square and 2 minutes to the Tram 28 pickup point. Very convenient! Clean and comfortable.

Very good location and well equipped, with a tiny but usable kitchen and dining area. Cleanliness was the issue. We arrived at 5pm, the gave us our room and when we opened the door we saw they hadn’t cleaned it yet. We had to wait another hour for them to clean it and afterwards there were still hairs on the floor and sketchy stains. Plus the first impression was of a dirty room and a very quick clean so we were never really comfortable there.

This property is very easy to find and so convenient to Tram 28 and the touristic area. Great restaurants within 5 minute walking distance. Clean and comfortable. Secure! Main entrance is locked as is your room with code pad. Friendly staff that provided local reservations.

This is the perfect place to stay, and if you want to have a Home away from home! I am really happy with the location and the quality of the apartment! Nothing is better than waking up in the morning to my boyfriend cooking breakfast for me. This place is also gay friendly and everyone is welcome!
To top everything all off I freaked out when I was on the plane heading to Amsterdam where I live because I had left €590 in the safe in the apartment that I rented from this property and the property manager was nice enough to electronically transfer the cash that I had left behind to my bank account literally saving my life!
