Dear Lisbo-Bordalo Palace Chiado was the perfect place to stay in Lisbon! It is a charming hotel that is centrally located, so it was easy to go to the many places we wanted to visit. Nearby, restaurants were in abundance. The rooms were superior, beds were comfy, and the bathrooms had had lovely showers! Most of, the staff were welcoming and so helpful! They went out of their way to make our stay special. HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying at Dear Lisbon-Bordalo Palace Chiado.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such warmth and genuine hospitality, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, perfectly located for exploring Lisbon on foot, with charming streets, cafés, and sights just steps away.

Our room was stylish, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches that made our stay extra special. Every interaction with the team was a reminder of what true service feels like: kind, attentive, and sincere.

Our room smelled strongly like back gassing sewer! staff seemed surprised by this and tried to address but was odd that it took us to identify? Staff did eventually offer to move us but we were unable to meet the time limit on this as we were heading out the door for pre booked day tour and we’re given very short notice to re pack bags. They did leave an apology note and a mini bottle of port in our room worth about $3-5 dollars. Great location though and we enjoyed our time in spite of this.

Great location! Close to the train stations as well as many amazing restaurants close by. We are in the centre of Old Town Lisbon and never needed to take a taxi. The walks were enjoyable.

Get ready for rules, not the best stay.

Overall not a great stay.
Old building, partially renovated (only the bathroom). Many downsides:
Multiple messages from the staff thru tha app and whatsapp asking for our arrival time. We had no idea when we were going to get there. Not allowed to eat or drink anything not purchased from the hotel in the room. That's a first. Loud noise when you use any water (sewage pump is loud). Air con is hard to figure out and underpowered for the room, locked to not allow below 18 degrees. We put the sign on the door to have our room made up, but they thought it was to not disturb, so they didn't make up the room. Bed not that comfy. Towels and toiletries good. No hair conditioner. Weird big keychain you have to carry around all day that makes noise in your pocket. Staff forgot to bring us our cappuchino we ordered at breakfast. Breakfast was tasty though.

This was one of the best properties we have stayed at - EVER! Dear Lisbon Bordalo Palace Chiado exceeded our expectations in every way. The room was spacious and super clean, well decorated and had everything you could possibly need (toothbrushes, water bottles, shower caps, a mending kit, even slippers). We were greeted with Pastel de Natas and raspberries in our room. The staff was so attentive to our every need! And, the breakfast was delicious. So many options, even freshly made espressos and cappuccinos! I would give Dear Lisbon Bordalo Palace Chiado 12 out of 10 stars if I could. Fabulous staff, wonderful accommodations, excellent location and amazing breakfast. Best of the BEST!

Timeless Elegance with a Personal Touch

The Bordalo Palace has all the luxury of a 4-star hotel in that the rooms are spacious with high ceilings, balconies, and exquisite furnishings, and AC that works! (not a given in Europe). In other ways, it has all the warmth of a B&B. There aren’t a large number of guest suites and the breakfast area is cozy with folksy décor and place settings that look like they came out of your aunt’s china cabinet. But what really sets this place apart is the personalized service, which is hard to find in our QR-code dominated world. The front desk staff - Caterina and Isra – act like a concierge – they don’t just hand you a key and tell you how to get to your room – they provide assistance with your luggage (which you may very well need because there’s no elevator (another rarity in Europe), they give you a map, point out local attractions, give you advice on where to eat and shop, even instructions on how to use Lisbon’s celebrated public transportation system! If a problem arises, they put on their on their thinking caps and troubleshoot! On my first day, I accidentally left my key at the hotel and Caterina promptly called me and came up with a brilliant solution! The ladies who staffed the breakfast area constantly re-stocked the delectable items on the buffet and asked us if there was anything we needed. The icing on the cake literally) was that I found 2 pasteles de nata garnished with fresh raspberries and handwritten notes. Looking forward to my next stay!

Loved Bordalo House. The building is very pretty and historic. The room was spacious and clean. The balcony looked over the restaurants and street which was nice. The staff were very helpful. The o ly downside was that we could hear the people above us in their apartment walking around. I would still stay here again. It was in a safe and convenient location.

The hotel is in an excellent location. It is so central and close to so many tourist attractions. The room is clean and charming, also well sound proof. Even though there is a square outside with lots bars and restaurants, I couldn’t hear the noise much. The staff were so friendly and helpful, providing lots of local know how. When I needed to leave early in the morning for a side tour and would miss the breakfast, a staff prepared a mini-breakfast for me for next morning.

This is what we loved about the hotel: The location is excellent. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast each morning was delicious. The shower and water pressure were good. The size of the room was ample and the decor was beautiful.

This is what could use improvement: The room (red room) looked beautiful and was isolated from street noise, but had a few issues. The bed and pillows were just okay. I could have used a lighter weight blanket or a sheet. There is no courtyard or view at all, which makes the balcony pointless. The room is next to the breakfast area, so it would be a poor choice unless you are an early riser as dish noises start around 6:45. Worst of all, the air conditioner seemed to pump in a sewage smell. We checked the bathroom and it smelled fine. Outside smelled fine as well. The staff attempted to remediate the issue by covering the smell with a spray perfume, which sort of worked, but by the next morning, the room would smell again. The last night we avoided using the air conditioning, and that seemed to help.

I would consider staying at another property from this company because of the staff, but I would not stay at this property or in the red/pink room again.

There was a nice individual touch at the end of our visit with a hand-written letter thanking us for our stay. The breakfast was good and kept well topped up. Both the property and staff are wonderful. It has lots of old world charm but with the advantage that all the modern amenities (e.g. WIFI, plumbing etc) work perfectly. The fresh morning breakfast is outstanding, especially when compared to the usual stuff in US hotels. The location in the Chiado is wonderful. Endless dining and shopping options. Extremely close to metro options. Just a wonderful spot to base your Lisbon visit.

This is a fantastic boutique hotel. It is located in a ~300 year old property. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with AC. The showers are clean with good water pressure and the height of the showerhead worked well for me (I'm 6'4\").

The facility still uses metal keys which gives you access to your room and the front entrance. There is also a numerical code you can type into a keypad to get front door access. It felt very secure. All the staff members were friendly and helpful.

There is no room service. This is not really a problem as they provide a very nice breakfast and there are many restaurants within walking distance.This includes two restaurants right under the first floor (you do hear their music until 12:00-01:00 but it wasn't particularly obnoxious) The staff did tell our kids (17 and 20 years old) they could not bring takeout in their rooms but let them take it anyway. I did not clarify this policy and it did not seem to be an issue.

Location could not have been better and for us the major selling point. Within a 20-30 minute walk you have access to anything you could want. There is even a natural health food grocer around the corner. My wife and I walked all over Lisbon from this location. Uber will come right to the door.

This was my wife and my first trip to Lisbon so we had no idea where to book our stay. We wanted to be close to historical sights, night life, and shopping. We were staying for 10 nights so we wanted a large room. If you have traveled Europe you know space is at a premium and most rooms are tiny.
When we arrived at the Dear Lisbon we found all our desires were met. Our room was gorgeous. 14 ft ceilings with three 10 foot windows that opened out to a view of the harbor and the Castelo de S. Jorge. The furnishings, although sparce were elegant, tasteful, and comfortable. We could have used another surface to dump our daily purchases, but there was PLENTY of room. The building is old so the bathroom was not a part of its original structure. It was placed in what may have once been a sitting room. It had the same 14ft ceiling with a crystal chandelier. Large shower head. Plenty of hot water and good pressure. My last Parisienne hotel I couldnt get the soap off of me because the stream was so weak. Like BPH. You middle age guys will understand.
From the room we could hear the local night life. It was exciting and it encouraged us to go out. But when we were tired, we closed the shutters and we had silence. The Baixa-Chiado neighborhood had great shopping, late night indoor and out door dining, several theatres, and nightly street performers. We had a blast without having to navigate the city after dark. The staff at Dear Lisbon was very helpful and nice. Especially Adrienne.

Great stay in Lisbon!

The hotel / B&B is great. The rooms are HUGE (when compared to most European hotels) and clean. The bed was comfy. The included breakfast was pretty good.

One piece of information I wish I had known before booking: Doors to the hotel are locked until 8am so if you happen to arrive early, you will be stuck outside until then. (I had to sit on the bench outside for over an hour as my international flight landed around 6am.) The info about check-in is shared in the email after you confirm and to be fair, one could arrange check-in outside the regular hour. I booked the room the day before arrival. I had no idea until I arrived and checked the email when I found the locked doors. I was permitted to leave my luggage as my room wasn't ready that early.

Great location - close proximity to restaurants, metro and tram links. Staff were amazing - friendly and accommodating. Rooms were good sized and clean. The only thing which came as a surprise was the noise from the restaurant below our room - don’t think other rooms may have this problem. Music stopped at around 11:30 .

Fantastic hotel. The lady on the desk gave us such great information and printed off information for us. Couldnt have bern more helpful. Excellent air conditioning in the room. First time in a hotel room when there was no need to keep adjusting it during night so slept well. Water pipes made a noise when water run but this didnt bother us at all. Excellent position in the old city. Within easy walking to metro, restaurants etc.

Very nice place. Not handicap accessible. Room was very clean. A/C worked well. Very near Rossi train station which has a train to Sintra. Breakfast was excellent with eggs made to order. Close to a six story shopping mall. I would stay here again. Airport transportation can be arranged for a modest charge.

I loved staying here. It's a perfect size, beautiful and amazing service. We unfortunately had to depart at 4:30 am to make a flight so couldn't make breakfast but the hotel so kindly went the extra mile to make us croissants to take with us to the airport. Would certainly stay again!

Good but not great

This is really a b&b as they don't offer lunch/diner. We had a slight issue as there was construction work going on under our room which was disturbing us (there was even some hammering at 1am) but the staff moved us to a different room promptly. Both rooms were nice and spacious and the bed was comfortable.

Each evening, we were asked to notify the receptionist of our preferred breakfast time a the eggs (should you wish any, are made to order). We were however late everyday (we were on holiday!) but this didn't cause an issue. On our final day our soft boiled eggs were uncooked though and I noticed the couple next to us complained about this. Breakfast was otherwise fine but I think there could have been more choice.

The central location is great whilst it is slightly set back from the main streets so there wasn't any noise from late night revellers.

The rooms have smart tvs in them which is a nice, modern touch so you can relax and watch another episode of your latest Netflix/Amazon series when resting after walking up and down the many hills in Lisbon!

Top Chiado location

This hotel is very well placed in the middle of Chiado. Modest entrance, small reception and only a staircase leading up to the rooms. We had booked a junior suite and we were happy with the size and layout of the room, however it was bitter cold when we arrived. Additionally the receptionist put the A/C in cooling mode why it took us the better part of the evening to reach even a reasonable temperature. In the bathroom there was no heating at all and therefore a bit too cold for comfort throughout our stay.
The breakfast is on the small size but despite that had everything we wanted and the service was impeccable.
The hotel offers no parking but a general garage is very close.

Great location and friendly staff, especially Fernando, who has been so patient and accommodating with us. Beautiful room and comfortable bed. Only pitfall was the quite disruptive construction noise (and some vibrations) right outside our room, but overall excellent stay.
