We wanted to stay in Old Town or Chiado and loved 9Hotel Mercy. The rooms are modern, clean, while appointed. The breakfast bar is really really good. The staff are the star point, they are so friendly and helpful. Who will definitely stay there again if I have the chance. LA

I really liked this hotel. It had everything I needed and was excellent for the price. Room was impeccably clean and there was a really nice shower. Bed was comfortable. The only disappointing thing was that the rooftop bar was not open. Solid 4 star hotel option for a great price.

We had to leave the hotel within 10 minutes of checking in and had to book a new stay elsewhere. This hotel was very dirty and is not suitable for families. The room next to ours was performing loud ‘adult’ acts. The room itself was horrible. There was mold, holes in the wall, and it looked unclean. I do not understand how this hotel is considered 4 stars. I would investigate some of the reviews because I believe the positive reviews are fake. I have stayed in hostels in Lisbon that were cleaner and I felt safer at.

We stayed in room 509, which was a very cosy room. Unfortunately we had issues with the ac as we could not switch it on or control from our room and had to call reception each evening, which was a nuisance. Also the bath area was in poor condition and not useable ( the shower worked, but tap to fill bath did not, and no plug, so could not use). Also the glass panel was not wide enough so when having a shower the water soaked the bathroom floor. We had the option to change rooms, but had to settle for a room with shower only, as another room with working bath had a very loud ac, so we sacrifice a good soak/bath for a good nights sleep instead. On a positive the room was clean ( good housekeeping team) and the water pressure for the shower was very good. Location of the hotel although on a slight slope was very convenient to major spots in Lisbon, and lots of excellent bakeries within a few minutes walk away. If the maintenance of the rooms are kept to a high standard ( unlike our recent visit) we would consider this hotel on our future visits to Lisboa.

Great location and a very nice staff who were kind enough to lend us umbrellas for a rainy day of touring. We enjoyed two lovely breakfasts and the rooftop bar service was excellent as well and the rooftop view was very nice.

Great location, out of date hotel

This hotel is in a great location, and has a great, modern feel to it in the lobby and rooftop bar. The view from the 6th floor suite patio is nice. We had the suite and it was really disappointing, especially for what we paid. The room felt dirty, musty, and had several issues upon arrival. The biggest thing is the air conditioning makes a loud noise that will not go away and made it hard to sleep at night. The wall cover to flush the toilet was falling off and even though someone came to “fix” it, it kept coming off. The shower didn’t drain well so there was water every where every time we showered, and the temperature would switch to scalding hot without notice so that made it uncomfortable to shower. The room itself had stains on the furniture and curtains and just didn’t feel very clean. My toddler dropped a toy under the bed and it was covered in dust. We didn’t use the bathtub in the room at all because it was stained and felt dirty. The suite being on the 6th floor meant you were listening to music from the rooftop bar until well after 11 pm. The walls are zero sound proof and you can hear everything in the room from the hallway and near the elevator. The staff were not very friendly and came to check on our issues and didn’t resolve any of it, nor did they seem to care. For what we paid, we were expecting a lot more than what this hotel offered, and I can’t say I would recommend this place to anyone I know.

Choose another place!

Pros: Location was great! Hotel and room was aesthetically pleasing.

Cons: While they held my bags until check-in... I busied myself for hours in town. I returned minutes before 3PM check-in time, and was told my room wasn't ready, it would be another 4 minutes. They had me wait until the exact check-in time, although clearly the room was in fact ready.

WiFi password was not explained upon check-in (case-sensitive)... it was handwritten and upper/lowercase was not identifiable.

I had to perform a scavenger hunt for an outlet, which was not easily accessible.

Housekeeping did not fully close my room door after cleaning the room.

Lastly... the evening before checkout, the elevator was out of service. While ascending four stories after a night out was annoying... the fact that there wasn't any sense of immediacy to fix the issue, upon checkout, I had to descend from the fourth floor with all of my luggage.

This is a lovely hotel, ideally located near shopping and restaurants. Our room was spotless and hugely spacious for a suite.
The bed was comfortable.
Our room had its own balcony with seating and lovely views, and we were right next to the rooftop bar, which also had wonderful views.
Overall, a terrific hotel and we’d definitely stay there again.

Property is in need of some upgrades, refresh paint and better shower configurations. Also, very dark decore so bettter lighting. It’s a chic hotel but a little outdated. The staff was very responsive with issues. Juan was awesome and we enjoyed talking with him just in passing, he was so helpful with recommendations and everything.

Perfect to explore Bairro Alto and beyond

Lovely hotel in the great location in Bairro Alto district. Nice rooms with excellent facilities. The rooftop bar is pretty cool with views across the city and the water. The limited food and drink I had were also excellent. Add the brilliant and friendly staff made my stay special.

The room was quite large with high ceilings which was very nice. The staff were incredibly hospitable, breakfast every morning was always consistent and had a wide selection. The hotel is within walking distance to a collection of restaurants and nice points if interest sites, including a beautiful view overlooking the city. I’d highly recommend staying here as it made me want to visit Lisbon for a longer stay.

Amazing find

Our stay was awesome! What a gem of a boutique hotel. The hotel was in a great location with amazing restaurants surrounding it. Michelin star Mexican attached was over the top amazing. The hotel itself was clean and our city view room was well apportioned and so comfortable,best sleep in our 2 weeks. Would highly recommend and would stay again on return to Lisbon

Good stay. Excellent location, close to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palantine Hill and more. Bed was good and the room was spacious enough for us. The instant coffee provided didn’t even taste like instant, it was great. Free disposable slippers are provided and we got a small bottle of champagne as a gift, which was nice. We had room 101 and the small patio isn’t great, no view, no chair, probably just for smoking, not sure. The shower is small but good enough.
We saw four different front desk staff and they were all great. They held our bags the first day as we came in early; they even put them in our room when we returned in the afternoon. They held them again when we checked out since we had a little time before our train.
All in all would definitely stay here again.

Cute little boutique hotel in the Chiada/Biaxsma area. Great location for fine dining and connecting to trains and ferries. Funky design that needs refurbishment. Rooms on the back side are surprisingly quiet. Don't miss the great little cafe across the street.

The location of this hotel is great and the rooms are more spacious than we expected. Really comfortable beds and quiet at night. Downsides: We didn’t find the staff to be particularly helpful. The individual at check in was rude and even though we were told we could settle our room charge at the end with preferred cards they charged it all at check in and then were unable to reverse the charge and put it onto new cards. They also mention being eco friendly but even though we hung the towels up to not be replaced they did so daily.

To review this hotel, is to differentiate between what is feasible within the capacity of the staff and what is beyond them (owners). Areas of strength
- Some of the staff were pleasant and helpful.
- Breakfast is solid, and quite honestly excellent.
- The view from the suites is absolutely stunning.
- The manager of the hotel is responsive, considerate and incredibly willing to meet expectations within reason.
- Bed is very comfortable.

Areas of weakness:
- the property in terms of rooms really needs to be refurbished. I came to the conclusion that this had more to do with the owners of the hotel being complacent.
- 1 or 2 members of the reception were frankly quite cold and not very service oriented. Perhaps for future safe-guarding all reception staff need a reorientation into how to welcome/treat guests staying at a 4 star hotel.

Otherwise, all in all, it was a good stay.

The staff at 9Hotel Mercy were absolutely terrific! the breakfast at the restaurant was extensive, fresh, hot and delicious with many local pastries we enjoyed immensely. Everyone spoke English, was warm, compassionate, friendly, and extremely helpful. Our only difficulty was a problem with the shower which required us to move to a different room. The hotel was full they couldn't move us that night so we had to wait till someone checked out the next day. They gave us a bottle of port and apologized for our inconvenience. Once we switched rooms everything was fine. They were also very accommodating when we had to leave before breakfast hours one morning and they let us go into the restaurant during the set up time and eat early. The hot dishes were not yet available but there were plenty of other things and we were very happy. They also got us reservations at a lovely restaurant in the neighborhood with terrific service and delicious food. We heard beautiful, passionate fado music there (singers and guitars). It was a really special night out! Highly recommend 9Hotel Mercy!

We were a little concerned that the noise from the busy streets with people partying and drinking might make it a hard place to sleep, but the rooms were quiet. We walked across the street for the best breakfast we had in Lisbon, and all the major attractions were within walking distance.

About 9Hotel Moldy.
Stay was Oct. 4-7, 2024. At check-in we were advised that there would be one bottle of water in our room for the whole stay, otherwise we would have to pay for water out of the mini fridge. Why is this pettiness even discussed with someone who is paying $359 for a suite?
We opened the door to Suite 601 and were immediately hit with a strong smell of mold. The bathroom was worse. If we weren't so tired (10:00 p.m.) at check-in, we would have turned around and checked back out.
We called about this every day at least once, causing stress and wasting our vacation time. No one ever did anything about it. They would send the housekeeper up and have her scrub the shower again. Of course this wasn't going to solve anything. They needed a professional to address the root of the problem. Speaking of the shower, It flooded every time you took a shower. Water pooled and spilled out onto the floor. The sink also drained slowly. The vinyl flooring is coming up in several places and it caused my husband to trip a couple times.
The hotel is quite dark, from the breakfast room, lobby to our room. The hallways are black. The bathroom is all black, floors, doors, walls. This is not conducive to doing things you need to do in a bathroom such as your hair and makeup. I did my makeup on the terrace. It isn't practical.
This was our 40th anniversary trip. The other hotels we stayed at were incredible. We actually dreaded coming back to the Hotel9 Moldy each night

The area is great. Close to everything, however as a Boutique hotel it needs some work. We had one of the suites and it was worn down. Carpet was stained. Stains on couches. The walls also needed to cleaning and fresh paint.

This hotel is in a great area for tourist. We arrived a bit early around 11 am and no room was available. We were asked to return at 3pm for a room. I was a bit disappointed that after flying all night and arriving at 10am. Got to the hotel at 11am. We were told that the room would be ready at 3pm and however the room was not ready at 3pm. We had to wait longer to get a room.

Besides the arrival problem the hotel was 8/10 to me.
