Location is fantastic

A little noisy at night. Breakfast not until 8 but many tours start at 7,30 or 8. However, we found out they would make a picknic breakfast if asked. Location is great. Walkable to everything.

Very disappointed

They changed my reservation to a room that doesn't have a separate bathroom but it is in the room itself. They knew that they couldn't fulfill my reservation the day before and instead of sendimg me a message and letting me decide whether I would like to stay, they changed my room. When I arrived at 8 o' clock tired from my trip there was no way to find a suitable hotel. I would have done this if they had communicated their intentions. I was told they thought it was a suitable exchange and it was a matter of taste. Well, i am not traveling alone and I don't want to be exposed or watch anyone taking a shower. There is a reason to choose a specific room through the options in Hotels.com.

The staff was wonderful....they even called one morning to check on us because we hadn't come down for our scheduled breakfast time, and they left one table set for us and waited until we came down to eat. The room was a good size compared to other Portugal hotels we stayed in, the location was very convenient to everything, and we had a great view of the Duoro! We would definitely stay there again!

Our room was very clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the square! The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was really exceptional. We drove so the underground parking located directly across the street under the square was helpful. The entrance was a little hard to find from google maps because there isn’t a big sign outside but it was perfectly located for walking to everything in the city we wanted to do. Definitely recommend this wonderful property to others & we enjoyed our stay!

Solar dos Poetas is in a great location. The service we received from everyone we dealt with was outstanding. Very friendly and helpful. The room as very clean and comfortable. You’re on a very busy street so if you open your balcony doors it’s very loud but when it was bedtime we shut the doors and couldn’t hear anything. Rooms were very sound proof. Highly recommend staying here.

Each room in the hotel differs a lot in size and condition. The room we had originally booked was extremely small which was fine but had a damp / mould issue that had an unbearable smell. It looked like it had been previously painted over.
Staff were lovely and changed us to a different room which was huge and much better.
Beds / shower were good. Staff were very lovely. And breakfast was delicious. Excellent location and good soundproofing in the rooms.

Such a welcoming hotel with fabulous staff . Including Diogo, Maria and Carla, all so helpful and generous with their attention. Rooms and bathrooms very clean. Quiet. This is an excellently-run hotel overlooking a great square in center of Lisbon. The staff are all wonderful, and the extensive breakfast buffet is also a great plus (even a pianist performs each morning during the buffet). There are many hotels in central Lisbon, but you will not regret staying here! We will definitely return to this hotel!

We like the location, the choice of breakfast is great. But above all is the staff. Everyone of them are responsive ,attentive and really make sure that customer stay is relaxed and enjoyable. Our stay was great dispite some minor disruption, however all of the team respoded in a posotive way even the actual owner of the hotel was very nice and welcoming. We will have no hesitation in booking this hotel in the future, its the way hotel and staff should be run. See you in 2025 and beyond..

Great hotel in the city center

Great hotel! We stayed there twice in the same room. It’s located in the city center next to a large plaza, within minutes to a metro station. The famous E28 tram line starting station is in front of the hotel. Lots of restaurants are near by. We were there during Christmas season, Christmas lights and market are in the plaza, people singing at the plaza too. We were on the 5th floor, with a large bath room with skylights. The room is very quiet at night. The hotel seems newly renovated, very clean, and the breakfast is great, there is always someone playing piano during breakfast.The stuff are very friendly, they packed us a to-go breakfast bag in our last day, because we needed to leave early to catch our flight. Highly recommended!

Building noise!

I booked this hotel because of the great location in Lisbon and the very good reviews, however was not warned that one floor of the hotel, in an old building, was under construction.

Service was pleasant; greeted by very nice local people who informed us about timings of breakfast, check-out times and the local area.

After checking-in, was pointed to a clean, well-kept room, with basic amenities - and informed that you are not allowed any food or drink in the room, so there was no coffee/tea on offer there. Pulled our suitcases into the room and was greeted by the sound of drilling, followed by continuous hammering. Immediately I voiced my concern with the reception team and was told that they were not meant to be working at that time, after which they hammered quietly.

For the next three days there was not a moment when we were in the room (morning and an hour or two before dinner) when there was not some building noise over our heads. On one occasion something dropped so heavily on the ceiling that a light bulb went, only to come back on again when something else dropped.

Not sure I would return before checking if they had finished construction, which is a shame because the rest of the experience was very good.

Great Experience!

The hotel and our room had great character, were very clean and nice. The hotel's soundproofing was excellent, we enjoyed the crowd and a band playing in the square outside our window but slept through it all easily for our early morning flight. The location was awesome, central to everything with the No. 28 tram literally stopping just out the front door while the metro entrance was less than 100m from it. Above all, the staff was amazing, friendly welcoming and happy to help in any way. I would highly recommend the property for couples or adults but it may not be ideal for families with small children.

When giving a 5* review, I have to remember that there are many ‘levels’ for such a rating. Solar do Poetas is NOT a Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton. But IT IS one of the best places you could chose to stay when visiting Lisbon.

Located at the Placa Luis de Caoes, the hotel is at the start/end of the #28E tram. It’s just bocks from the Lisbon Metro, and many bus lines. Rossio Train Station is a 15 minute walk. Many tours start across the street in the Placa. Literally around the corner are tens of good restaurants. Just outside the door is a great bakery with gems to suit your sweet tooth.

Our room was small, but adequate. We faced the Placa and were able to listen to the musicians and watch the crowds. We could see the River from our room. The bed was comfortable and room spotless.

Guest services did whatever they could to make our stay pleasurable. I will not single out any specific person because I do not want to insult those not named. Suffice to say, everyone was great and made us feel as if we were family.

The hotel offers early drop off of luggage and late pick up too. Sitting at the bar after a day of sightseeing was one of my favorite relaxations.

The morning breakfast accompanied by piano was a great start for the day ahead. Remember to ask for a bottle of cold water before leaving (no charge). Coffee was available 24 hours a day.

If we return to Lisbon, Sd Poetas will be on the top of our list of places to return to. Book with confidence.

PERFECT location, fantastic breakfast and very nice staff. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of this 3star hotel The breakfast was top-notch for a free continental in Europe! Has an elevator even!!!! The rooms are small but you shouldn’t be in your room— ur in Lisbon! Perhaps the best shower with strong water flow I have ever had in Europe!!! Signage outside hotel is a bit problematic— took us a bit to figure out where we were going. Bathroom is tiny but very nice LARGE shower. IF you are a large person with wide hips— the toilet may be an issue— they installed a metal toilet paper holder that completely jams you in the hips— horrible placement really. If u are skinny—no problem! Love this hotel— Will recommend to all!

Really cute hotel. The furnishings and the detail impeccable. Had a guy playing piano during breakfast was so nice. The breakfast food is excellent. The only drawback was the small room and bathroom the price. But it’s in an expensive area I guess. However the staff, especially the receptionist-we’re EXCELLENT!!

What a fabulous place! We changed our accommodation in Lisbon and were so pleased. This boutique hotel has been beautifully restored and is located in Chiado opposite a lively square and surrounded by great cafes, restaurants and shops. Despite its location, the lovely rooms are quiet and comfortable and we slept extremely well. The staff are friendly and provide outstanding service. The breakfast is excellent.

This property is extremely central to old town and easily walkable to many parts of the city. Ubers, cabs, and tuk tuks are all very easy to get from here.

The check in process was smooth and they stored our bags for us as we arrived 4 hours prior to check-in time.

The room was clean but very basic. There were signs in reception indicating you could not eat in the room which we found odd. The beds were not particularly comfortable and the shades over the windows let in a good amount of light in the morning. The air con worked, but not super well.

Overall, we likely wouldn’t pay the amount we did to stay here again, however, it is not a bad option if location matters to you most.

DISAPPOINTING TINY ROOM! I booked the place for two adults and got a double bed (not king or queen) with approximately 30cm (12”) space around the bed, that’s it!!! The entire room was just the bed no place to unpack, put the suitcases, or even walk without bumping each other. Bathroom has the tiniest sink, unable to fit hands, wash face or drink water.

Charming place in the perfect area! Definitely for a more mature stay, they don’t seem like they would put up with any nonsense.
They are very strict about 3pm check in (not a second earlier) and 50 euro per hour late checkout fee. However I believe that is because they do such a thorough job clean the rooms! My room was immaculately clean and smelled incredible! The breakfast included was a very nice buffet with a lot of options. Would recommend for sure :)

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The room is very comfortable, and even though it was located facing the most crowded and lively area of Lisbon it was really quiet. The property was situated perfectly - close enough to all areas of interest in the centre and transport links.
The facilities were excellent and spotlessly clean. The staff were absolutely brilliant - they couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant!
Would go back in an instant - highly recommend you see for yourself.

It was wonderful!! The ambience was a-one, breakfast was over the top fantastic and the live pianist was the nicest touch. This has to be one of the nicest places I’ve stayed in, big because of the fanciness but because of the warmth and attention to detail that everyone associated with the hotel had! I can’t wait to go back ❤️❤️❤️
