This was our third time at Palacio Ramalhete. As before, we were very nicely greeted into this beautiful and historical building. Everything there is refined and about quiet luxury. Breakfast is excellent and offers a large variety of options. The neighborhood is quiet, but it is central and offers easy access to all there is to see and do in Lisbon. I would definitely recommend to people who want a historical experience, refinement and comfort.

Our stay at the Palacio Ramalhete was an exceptional experience and in many ways exceeded our expectations. The reception was welcoming and highly efficient even going as far as carrying our suitcases up the stairs to our room. The breakfast was delicious and served in a beautiful and magnificently decorated dining room. Most of all, the staff without exception (Suman, Subash, Saddam, Jessica & Isabella) could not be more accommodating adding their own personal touch to make our stay at the Palacio Ramalhete particularly memorable. Absolutely beautiful old property. Impeccably decorated. Welcoming staff and excellent included breakfast. Beautiful cozy courtyards for afternoon ore late night cocktails. Small refreshing pool, no shallow end. No elevator and lots of stairs. Only suggestion might be hairdryer in bathroom and a no- slip bathmat or hand rail in bathtub/ shower.

The hotel was slightly out from the Centre but there were buses which stopped outside. A train and trams about 6 minutes walk and the metro was a short tram journey.

Local small gem of a hotel
What an amazing place to stay!! I was looking for a hotel near the waterfront before we went on a cruise. The staff was so welcoming, the hotel had such a lovely old world charm to it. We try to avoid stayiing in chains when we travel, this was a gem!
We were able to walk to different areas of the city, felt like we were staying in a local neighborhood, not in a tourist area. We had many choices for restaurants in the area, had a great meal looking out at the river at Le Chat, fabulous view of the Christ statue across the way.
We felt safe and secure, our room was very comfortable and the included breakfast (which was a surprise) was wonderful.
We would definitely recommend a stay here if you want to fell like a local!! Be aware, you must be able to climb stairs to the interior of the hotel, we had help with our bags which was helpful.

Would not recommend! We paid over $360 per night for a pool suite and they didn’t have a pool! It’s under construction with a large hole outside the room which was dangerous and ugly. We asked to change rooms and they said they were full so we asked for a refund so we could change hotels. They told us each day they were escalating the issue and would take care of us (effectively holding us hostage since we had pre paid the 3 days) and waited until check out to say the most they could offer was $200. Such a waste of money for an outdated hotel. The bar was never open, bedroom was on a street below side walk with bars on the windows, and unquestionably not the 5 stars they claim. We are reporting them to hotels.com

Great stay! We chose the Raphaël hotel for our honeymoon, it was really the perfect choice. The place is very romantic. The courtyards with plants and flowers are beautiful. The building has a lot of character. The staff is exceptional. Also the location is perfect! This is our favorite neighborhood in Lisbon. We will keep a great memory of our honeymoon. The Palacio was a treat--really a gorgeous mix of historical and new--with fun touches in art and wallpaper! The staff was phenomenal--helpful and lovely as well. We felt very cared for. I enjoyed my first Porto Tonico by the pool at night--and the staff lit candles for us. I would recommend this to my friends!

Sadly - We were given a room unlike those in the pictures with a gross rotten sprung mattress as old as the house, it was nothing like the pictures - We were also woken up on our second day by 2 staff members fighting, screaming and smashing furniture, I had to throw on clothes, dash out and step in between them them to stop the onslaught.
No refund or apology was offered by the hotel for ruining our romanitic weekend with violence, no apology from either staff member either.

We had a wonderful stay at Palacio Ramalhete over Christmas. The staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive. The breakfasts were delicious and the hotel laid on a delicious dinner for us on 24 December when many of the restaurants were closed.

This is a beautiful old house within walking distance of the centre of Lisbon. Rooms are spread out over the house and up the back into two tiered courtyards. It is very quaint and peaceful. Small pool with six loungers in a great sun trap. The staff were so friendly and helpful especially Ivan.
The breakfast was a little disappointing. There was a lovely spread of meats, cereals and breads and cakes and freshly squeezed OJ and bubbles. However the hot food was in a bambourie and there was not enough heat under it so while it was lovely the morning we ate early the other mornings the eggs, tomatoes etc were cold. We didn't complain as we were happy with the rest. It's a small hotel so maybe they could think about taking a hot order for breakfast?

Such a beautiful boutique hotel situated in a peaceful area of Lisbon. The rooms are lovely and the beds super comfortable.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, with great knowledge of the palace history. The service was sometimes quite slow but that would definitely not put us off coming back again. We highly recommend this hotel.

A charming, elegant inn - terrific location in Lisbon: right across from the National Museum of Ancient Art and easy walking distance to \"Time Out Market (a favorite foodie destination). The spacious common rooms (and there are several) are beautifully appointed with comfortable furnishings, artful objects and lots of intriguing books. Fabulous breakfasts / lovely garden terraces (pool on the top level) / and the super-friendly, helpful staff gave us great restaurant recommendations (try \"Jornalistas\"!). Can't wait to come back...

Good service in beautiful old palacio on edge of the city centre. We enjoyed breakfast on an outside patio, and liked the lounges with old tiles and plasterwork, the good breakfast and the quiet location. Less liked steep staircases to our top floor room, and small window with limited view.

BEAUTIFUL hotel! Everything was lovely about it. If you are expecting 5 star butler service, this hotel is not for you but, if you are more relaxed, you will love it. The place is really cozy and beautiful---it is very quiet. We loved it!

The staff are so friendly and helpful and the moment you step over the threshold into the entrance hallway you are caught up in the character of the hotel.

We chose to stay at the Palacio Ramalhete after seeing it in a premium travel guide and had decided to treat ourselves for our three night stay in Lisbon. We were certainly not disappointed - beautiful, boutique hotel with friendly and helpful staff in a relaxed and charming neighbourhood. We look forward to a return visit in the not too distant future.

The vital weakness is a lack of an elevator. Trekking up steep stairs to the third floor with luggage is a challenge certainly not for the faint hearted. This weakness would prevent my staying a second time.

It is in walking distance (20-30 minutes) of the town centre but also on convenient bus routes (bus stop just directly outside hotel). Hotel and rooms very tastefully decorated. Small garden courtyard and small pool. The road outside is busier than expected and rooms at front of hotel can be noisy but have views of the river. Highly recommended for a shirt stay in Lisbon.

The hotel is beautifully decorated with colourful tiles and very stylish furniture. We stayed in a lovely room at the top of the hotel overlooking an inner courtyard and the petite swimming pool. Always slept well on a comfy bed. The staff are exceptionally helpful and hotel is well located if you don't mind a bit of a walk to the nearest Metro.

The Palacio Ramalhete was lovely - a cool and calm oasis after the hot, dusty streets of Lisbon. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and Daniela gave us a guided tour of the hotel and terraces before showing us to our rooms, which was a nice personal touch. They were also happy to bring us wine while we relaxed by the pool (on the top terrace, where there was a nice view of the river) and give us tips on where to eat out (like Picanha next door, a restaurant serving up delicious Brazilian BBQ). The hotel itself was charming, full of quirky features like the original tiling from the palace. The room was a great size, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also huge. The location was also pretty good, not right in the centre of Lisbon but walking distance away, although it was a hot walk! It was easy to catch a bus into the centre though - the staff were also happy to advise us on this.
Overall, the hotel had a relaxing, romantic atmosphere, and it felt like staying in your own (if rather grand) place, rather than an anonymous hotel. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Lisbon.

A very classy hotel
Palacio Ramalhete is a lovely restored palace which has been renovated to the highest standard. The bedrooms are spacious and the dining room and lounge areas have very tasteful furnishings and decor. There is a beautiful courtyard and raised pool at the rear of the hotel, ideal for relaxing after a busy day's sightseeing in Lisbon. The staff were all extremely helpful and courteous and are an asset to the hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hidden gem.

Beautiful property but bad experience
Located on a very busy two-way street that makes it impossible to stop out front and unload your luggage (if you're driving). Difficult to find parking as the hotel does not provide parking of any kind, and in fact they don't even know which surrounding side streets you can park on for free The staff were friendly and proficient in English, but a bit unorganized and scattered. There is no elevator and the staff was not around to help us up 3 flights of stairs. The hotel itself is charming, clean. There's an onsite pool that is very refreshing . The included breakfast was pleasant and the staff will prepare hot food on request. There are restaurants in walking distance but it's not the most pleasant/scenic walk. As we got ready for bed, the air conditioner in our room began briskly leaking water and the staff did not know how to fix it. They gave us towels for the floor and asked that we keep it turned off (which slowed the leaking to an annoying drip). They opened the windows for cooling (It was very warm that night and they didn't even offer a fan, let alone a room change). Mosquitos flew in through the open windows, we were bit multiple times and did not sleep much at all. Next morning the staff apologized but didn't seem that concerned and certainly didn't offer any price reduction for our troubles. OVERALL: it's hard for me to recommend this hotel to a friend when it seems like a crapshoot as to whether you'll have a good experience or not.
