Our stay at Vila Gale Opera was very nice. We were very pleased with the staff at the front desk. The lobby bar staff was also very fun and interactive. Very nice and clean room, the rooftop pool was enjoyable and views were amazing. Thank you.

The hotel has terrible pillows. Room service is not existent as no one ever picks up the phone! Same with reception - no one picks up the phone. The staff, specially at the bar are rude and the food was ok. Mini bar was never replenished. Will not recommend.

The plastic bed protector and blood stained pillow case were aweful. The hotel stay would have been excellant if I could have slept. The plastic on the bed was loud when I moved around, the plastic was slick and sweaty. Even a layer of inexpensive fabric would make a huge difference. Blood stained pillow case is unforgivable. Sorry to say I won't be back.

The hotel was in good condition and the staff helpful however, if you have food allergies, or sensitivities be extremely careful of what you eat. Twice I was given food containing wheat after I told the staff that I have an allergy and showed them my eppi pen. I cannot recommend this hotel because of that.

We loved how the front desk staff allowed us to store our luggage and use their facilities, like the pool and sauna, long before the 3pm standard check-in. They also allowed us to have the continental breakfast at the restaurant and check in just after 12 noon.

Enjoyable stay at Vila Gale Opera Hotel

Vila Gale Opera Hotel if you have any Summit at Lisbon Congress Centre, convenient 4 min walk, close to downtown or take tram to downtown, excellent for day/evening walk/run along Tagus River. Delicious buffet breakfast/dinner, I highly recommend this hotel! I will stay there if I am ever back to Lisbon!

The staff were friendly, our room was not ready when we arrived two hours after check in time but was resolved in about 30 minutes. Paid underground parking is confusing as to how to pay when leaving. The beds were extremely hard and limited pillows. It was fine for one night as we wanted to be in the area and it was affordable but wouldn’t stay multiple nights.

Wonderful stay at Lisbon

This is a really very good stay at Lisbon. The location is very convenient to visit Belem district with nearby tram connections. Several food options in the walking distance of the hotel. The hotel was very clean, the employees were very courteous. The breakfast buffet has a lot of options. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience!

I have no idea how this is 4 stars. We had to ask for the sheets to be changed as other peoples hair were still in the bed. Staff appear unable to organise taxi's so be ready with uber app. It is like a 1970's throw back in decor and not in a good way. No iron, no tea or coffee facilities. Very expensive and would avoid

Bathroom floors are very slippery and shower will leak onto floor. I slipped on the floor but I'm pretty young, didn't bother me much, although I definitely wouldn't send my parents there.

Could be the Perfect Spot - just a few hiccups

The Vila Gale Opera was ideal for my business trip as it was in walking distance to the Lisboa Congress Center and also a cool 15 mins walk to the shopping area.

The food was yummy - having an open buffet had lots of options.

The staff was friendly and accommodating.

There are a few negatives that caused me to not have an excellent experience:
- the hotel has no irons in the rooms - apparently there was an electrical fire a few years ago and so the hotel changed their policy and chose not to have irons in any of the rooms. You have to use laundry service to iron your clothes and it's not free. Additionally, there is a 48 hour advanced notice to be given to Laundry service otherwise you have to pay an additional 50% of the total cost of the fee to have express service. I was very bothered by that as my meeting started the next day and so I had to pay the extra for express service to have all my clothes ironed. This is something that guests should be aware up front - I packed for 4 days in a carry on. I definitely needed to have the wrinkles removed before attending my meetings.

- the hotel was fully booked and ran out of adapters - I had to make the 15 min trek to find a store selling them. It was an inconvenience as I was bone tired and needed to do last min prep for my first meeting.

- the air conditioner dripped water constantly such that I had to use one of the bath towels to keep the floor dry.

Functional conference and business hotel

The hotel is next to the convention centre so it was very convenient. The shore, the suspension bridge and the famous Belem area are all within walking distance. It is situated also fairly close to the airport which is helpful. The hotel itself is functional and it does serve its purpose as a conference or business hotel. I find it odd that the water flow from the tap seems to go on and off sometimes which I suspect it is a water pipe pressure system issue. It does not bother me so much but you got to give it a few seconds for the water to come on again. I would also appreciate if they could replenish our complimentary water bottle daily especially it is the hot summer with temperate going up to 33 degree celcius outside.

Preço do buffet extremamente caro para a realidade de Portugal. 25 euros por pessoa não compensa. Comida simples. Melhor comer fora do hotel. A estrutura da piscina é péssima. Poucas espreguiçadeiras. Local fechado sem ventilação e extremamente quente. As portas de vidro deveriam ser móveis para que pudessem ser abertas no verão. O quarto no qual fiquei tinha cheiro de esgoto vindo do banheiro.

Het was erg smerig, slecht onderhouden, er was lekkage geweest al lang geleden waardoor het laminaat helemaal stuk was en los lag ! Het stonk wij hebben ook foto’s gemaakt. Dit is zeker geen 4 sterren hotel maar eerder 1 ster. Raad mensen niet aan om dit hotel te nemen maar wel om bij expedia te boeken de service is heel goed zijn goed geholpen

Window did not seal completely with the rubber so it was quite noisy in the room.

The Hotel is pleasant to stay in, but it lacks the basic cleanliness, vacuuming of the rooms only happen once a week and are not done in detail.
The wellness is very basic, the sauna holds 6 people and the Turkish bath holds 8 people, the staff is outsourced, given there is not hotel management supervision it is very evident that the swimming pool is not cleaned properly while swimming I ran into a massive amount of hair floating in the water and cleaning of the changing rooms only happens in the morning.
The massage is outsourced as well and to my opinion, it is very high in price.
The rooms are ok, although they are outdated and there is no offer of channels that show up to date programs, we winded up watching movies from the '80s and the '90s every evening when in the room.
Front desk staff was courteous, bar and restaurant staff should undergo better training and ensure they know English.
Overall I rate this hotel as borderline acceptable, they provide you with a variety of coupons but make sure you read the fine print or get a very detailed explanation about them, they have a very unique way of interpreting how they can be used or not used.
I believe this location should be the choice if you want to stay in a lower expectation level.

Hotel was convenient for a wedding we were attending.
Breakfast was very good and the communal areas were very nice.
We had a problem with communicating with the hotel. Despite sending several emails we did not get any replies.
The phone calls we had to make regarding our bookings cost £27
When I spoke to the manager about our problems he refunded this.
Please check carefully if you require a disabled room as we were told there were no walk-in shower facilities in the rooms apparently there are some!
We used the shower in the Health Club instead.

Nice hotel with a beautiful view

The general vibe of the hotel is really lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful - even though one of them screwed up a taxi reservation and we ended up having to pay for it.

It was disappointing that we had to buy swimming caps and slippers to use the pool but we did also have a stunning view out of our window overlooking the river Tagus and the bridge by the hotel.

Some rooms are not soundproof!

The hotel is fine. The location is not central so there isn't much to do around. You have to take a taxi to get anywhere.
My room was fine, except it was one of the \"family setting\" rooms, where two rooms are connected by a door. The problem with that is that I could hear everything that was going on in the other room - even the snoring!!!!

I would stay at that hotel only if I could confirm that I would get a normal room.

Convenient as it’s close to the airport in bad weather have an umbrella as you must walk 10 mins to the airport . SPA needs some attention, stink Turkish bath, no shaving kit for men, lights are far too bright.

Average overall stay, in need of some modernisation and improvements to maintain 4* status. Room size was good but a bit dated. Breakfast was fine although coffee was not up to much as was a hot pot rather than fresh. Pool looked very small so didn't use, so cannot really comment. Had a car so drove into Lisbon centre and parking in the hotel underground car-park was straightforward. Might use again if pushed but would probably look elsewhere first until hotel is updated.

The wifi was sucks, I couldn't go on line. The the hotel was so cheap, they didn't fill up the supplies like shampoo and body wash even I only had one bottle left. This area is inconvenient, you couldn't find a restaurant unless you walk 35 minutes around the hotel. And you can tell the room is not too clean, cause I found the hair on the bed. Do not recommend you to stay at this hotel.

Nice hotel located near the cultural area of town. Not much convenient food availability if your hoping to find something quick and easy. Hotel may be difficult to find due to street config. Absolutely fantastic hotel!!

This hotel was absolutely fantastic. It was in a great location, walkable (although a long walk) to all the tourist stuff, and very close to very good bars and restaurants. It was adorable, and the rooms were light and bright, clean and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly, and gave several great recommendations for things to see and do and places to eat and drink.

The location was nice, but the service was lackluster at best. My girlfriend and I ordered a massage for two with seaweed, when we got there they were suddenly out of seaweed. I went to the front desk to ask for an envelope, and they wouldn't give me one. It took two days to change a desk lamp bulb. The jacuzzi in the pool area was cold, and when I mentioned it, I was given some excuse, another guest said the same thing to me. The revolving front door was broken (the motor was broken). Carpets in the room were faded. Bathrooms were small for a suite. Overall, definitely not worth it's 4 star rating or price. Quite disappointed.

I will not stay at this hotel again because of a couple of reasons. First of all, it isn't centrally located and there aren't any good shops of restaurants around it. The next reason is that the air conditioning does not work properly because it is too old. The temperature cannot be lowered beyond a certain degree. Portugal gets very hot in the summer time. It was around 40 degrees which is too hot. When I got back to my hotel room after sightseeing, I turned on the air conditioner but it wouldn't cool my room down. I had to call the staff about it and they advised me to keep my room window open. This isn't acceptable to me. It takes 10 minutes for the air conditioner to work from the time I enter my room. It won't work until I insert my key card into the key card slot. After a long, hot day of sightseeing, I didn't like coming back to this. I would have preferred to come back to a cool and comfortable room. I couldn't sleep properly for the 7 days I was there.

Did not pre book for breakfast.When entering the restaurant next morning I gave my room number and everything was ok. I assumed it would be on my bill at check out.Just afterwards a hotel employee asked me if I knew the breakfast was not paid for? Yes, I do I said. No problem, I continued my breakfast. When I walked out of the restaurant no one said anything. Having come into the Lobby another employee came running after me, she said I had not paid for the breakfast. I said that I assumed I would pay at check out. Not so, I had to go back with her to the restaurant and pay in cash Euro 10.I asked for receipt. This is not classy at all. Somewhere, it should be made clear for the guests the process.

It's a 5 min walk to the tram line, spacious rooms, large bathroom, and gorgeous lobby. Our 7th floor room looked out to Belém, and we could see both the Monastery and the Monument of Discovery. Only complaint was free wifi was only available in the lobby (which gets Very loud very fast), or you could pay a supplement to have Internet in your room.

The hotel staff were excellent, really helpful and spoke good English. The hotel was clean, had air conditioning and was generally nice. The location was perfect for our needs, a 15 minute bus ride from Alges for the Optimus Alive festival and a 15 min bus ride into central Lisbon. It was a 30 min taxi ride to the beach.

My only 2 disappointments were that the safe in the room didn't work and that it was an extra €11 per person per day to use the health club, which included the pool, when one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel was the pool.

As long as you dont want to use the pool (which is indoor) i would recommend this hotel for a cheap base in Lisbon.

We use this hotel whenever we need to be in Lisbon, coming up from Algarve. The location is excellent. A good walk along the river, good fish dinner at Docca Peixe. AC works. Would be great if the mattress was not protected with plastic protection. Not so comfortable. Rest is fine. Good breakfast buffet.

Rooms clean tidy beds comfy few English TV channels. Slight road noise but not enough to annoy you or to keep you awake we had a room on the 4 the floor and had nice view of river.

Just what we needed.

We were just looking for a place close proxemity to Belem. This hotel suited us well. Just down the street from the tram and off the main road (had a rental) Overall, good service and clean hotel.

Needs air conditioning all year round

The holt was good, however it was hot and the room was very hot and the a/c only works from late May on, this should have been in the hotel description, as it would have made a difference in my booking decision.

inexpensive hotel with nice riverwalk to metro (5 min walk to one station and 15 minutes walk to other). very clean and quite place. liked it a lot for a quick runaway with my lady!

This is the name of the huge bridge over the Tagus, in the shadow of which the hotel sits. The hotel would be perfectly satisfactory were it not for the noise from the bridge, particularly from the trains that run beneath the road. Admittedly I was perhaps unfortunate in having a room at the back in even closer proximity to this noisy bridge. The hotel would benefit from some better sound-proofing! I was perfectly happy with everything else.

Great Place!

I was well received by the hotel staff who speak English very well. Everything they seemed to do very efficiently. The buffets were great and the waiters were great and helpful.
At the reception, a receptionist called Irina was extremely helpful on many occasions. I was sad to leave.
You can also go for an early morning or late evening jogging by the river Tagus!

Good Location and Attentive staff

This is a very good place for business travelers as it is close to airport and business locations. The rooms are clean and the restaurant a good value.

Close to convention center and Belem

Stayed here for 4 nights during a business conference, it was convenient to walk to the convention center, but not very convenient to get to city center. It was about a 15-20 min walk to Belem or you can take the tram. Internet signal was inconsistent so that was frustrating, especially having to log-in through the portal every time you connect. Breakfast buffet was decent. You do get a good view of the 25th of April Bridge outside the hotel and can walk across to restaurants on the other side along the docks.
