Edoardo and Miss Gia was absolutely amazing hosts. Breakfast was brought to the room daily. The food was more than enough at times leaving for a midnight snack for the kids. Daily tidying of our room was completed upon departure. Their home is a convenient location in which my family of 5 walked everywhere. There were times that we completed 22k steps but that is not a problem for us (youngest being 12 and oldest being 51). If you are looking to lay a families head to rest after a long day and cozy up in an affordable studio. It is an excellent option.

The room was charming and the lovely breakfast with so much food (filled croissants, eggs, yogurt, juice, coffee/tea) was a real treat to eat in front of our bay window each morning. Mama, Riccardo, and Eduardo as well as a young lady were so helpful! Had a minor misunderstanding about transportation but our welcome more than made up for it. Definitely was a good choice!

Beware. Owner will try to bribe you to leave a good review which makes me believe that the reviews are extremely misleading. While the property is very walkable to main attractions in Rome such as the Trevi Fountain and The Spanish steps, you will be better off staying somewhere else. This is NOT a hotel. It’s a bed & breakfast.

My issue was the MOLD in the bathroom. Horrible smell in the room and AC not working. The room was filthy. We had the family room and while the beds had clean sheets I told my kids not to touch anything in the bathroom and wear shoes at all times. The shower was atrocious. See pictures.

When I told the owner about it she tried to tell me the previous guests dyed their hair in the shower and she didn’t have time to clean it. The baseboards in the room show so much wear and tear. Owner also mentions that they were ripped off by previous guest and they couldn’t fix them.

Bottom line, if you don’t care about cleanliness then you can stay here. I’m just glad I didn’t stay there more than 18 hours. Absolutely disgusting.

The staff was great and the building is very convenient. Do not book this property if you are not ok with going upstairs as it is on the 6th floor and the lift is very small. The rooms are very clean and updated especially for an older building.

Quick stay in Rome

We were only there for a single night after our cruise. But we had a great experience there. We were leaving very early in the morning to go home and since we were going to miss breakfast they left us croissants, yogurt and juice in our room. Unfortunately, it was so early and we were walking to the train station, we were able to enjoy any of it. But we really appreciated the gesture. Everything was very clean and they helped us with directions to the Colosseum which is definitely within walking distance. Would recommend!

Very affordable and excellent place to stay

We travel a lot and I was traveling with my family and my kids who are pretty young. We picked the location as it is close to most of the tourist sites and also to the Termina train station. However the stay was more pleasant then we expected expected. The facility is owned by a family and they go out of the way to help their guests and make their stay as comfortable as possible. There is a personal touch to the establishment and it feels more like home than a hotel. I stayed for 4 days and on our last day we had to leave early so the host came early in the morning to arrange breakfast. They also know Rome very well and we were always seeking guidance on sight seeing and shopping and I am sure that saved us a good deal of time and money.
On comfortability, the facility is very clean and cozy. Our room was well stocked with very good coffee and also a Bialetti moka pot.
I normally do not write reviews but this stay was exceptional in many ways. I will highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Rome

The location is very central (about 20 minutes walk to the Colosseum and 15 minutes to Roma Termini train station) and the room was very clean. Doreen and the other two ladies that run the hotel were really very helpful throughout our stay, particularly when we had to call a doctor out over the weekend, which they arranged very quickly

It’s a wonderful place to stay, but a little difficult to locate and get into. Look for the Hotel Galatea sign and go into the archway. The code is 3690. You must go all the way to the back and go up staircase C (scala C). Call the phone number in your the reservation, as the receptionist is usually downstairs and you will have to call her anyway when you get to the 6th floor. Once you finally get in you’ll love it. The property is in a good location with plenty if bars & restaurants around and within easy distance of the tourist attractions. It's very homely, quiet and quaint and safe. Being on the 6th floor, we had our window open and didnt hear a sound all night. The room was comfortable, and we wrre provided with fruit juice, yogurt, ,tea, coffee & snacks daily. There os a communal kitchen to use and where you are provided with a deliciiys danish pastry for breakfast from a wonderful lady! We would love to return to Roma again one day. The ladies that we met that work there are so helpful and pleasant - they make your stay very happy and welcoming . Thank you! X

Dorina was amazing. The lady who served breakfast is the best. She greeted us every morning with fresh pastries, espresso and hot chocolate.

I had a difficult time finding the exact location of this apartment, because there are four hotels/apartments all within the same vacinity and same address. Once we found it, the room was kept clean and the staff was accommodating!

Lots of stairs and no working elevator.

The elevator is broken and there are six flights of stairs that you climb to get to the hotel. The stairs wind around and each flight of stairs contains 5 mini flights of stairs. They had someone bring our bags up, but when we checked out no one was in the hotel and we had to carry them down. The breakfast was all packaged and the water heater to make tea was not cleaned. The room was loud, but the bed was comfortable.

We only stayed one night before flying out of Rome so we didn’t get the full experience of this place, however, what we did experience was great. The place is really well decorated and clean. It is only a 10 minute or less walk to the train station which is nice for getting in and out of Rome. For the price, this is an excellent option to stay in Rome. Highly recommend. Just one note: it is on the 6th floor with a tiny elevator max 2 people. This did not bother us, but it is good to know if you are a big group with a lot of luggage you will be making several trips.

For 8 months, I studied up on our trip. Even read reviews about the hotel. You can e-mail the hotel and get any questions answered, and so I did - Thank you Riccardo. The negative reviews made my questions easy to ask and get answered promptly. Because I asked questions I knew where to go and what to expect at the hotel. The building has a sign that says \"Hotel Galatea\", stop at the office just past the gates, you'll find Dorina, walk to the back of the building and use Scala C to enter the hotel section.The elevator is small but you get used to it (close the doors). Full Italian breakfast - you actually get a variety of pastries and they were delicious. You get coffee, tea, juice and milk, yum! Place your door placard for privacy and room up-keep. Read the notes on the desk about the TV and WiFi. We truly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and Dorina was so kind, speaks limited English but she was warm, inviting and a delight. It's centrally located to all major sites and only a 10 minute walk from Termini station. We will be back in 2 or 3 years and we will stay at Roma Central Guesthouse again. They treat you like family, so they will become my Italian family. Caio!
Remember folks, you're in another country, you'll experience culture shock. Study up on some basic Italian, you're in Italy.

What a place to stay! It is located in a perfect location within walking distance to a lot of the major attractions. It is located in a side street off of the main street via Nazionale.

The room I stayed in was Alessia and it was spacious with a kitchenette and very basic Italian style breakfast delivered in the room every morning such as croissants and pastries. There was also juice, cheese, tea and coffee all provided upon check in. Very comfortable stay.

Dorina was just a welcoming delight. She was very personable and friendly. She made sure we were always comfortable and was really very familiar upon first meeting her.

The hotel is located behind a fancy gate that leads into a courtyard which could be difficult to find attached first. Look for Hotel Galatea sign because Roma Central is located in the same courtyard. The place is located next to a mini market, pizza, illys, and a gelateria. The place called Espresso was really good. Also a good Chinese place is down the street but charges a high service fee.

All in all, you MUST stay here. I would definitely return. The only complaint is that the elevator is TINY! Takes only 2 people up at a time so you can imagine how it would be with luggage.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Roma Central Guest House. Our room was clean, the bathroom in particular was newly renovated. We felt very safe and looked after by our host Doreena. She was a delight and was always available to offer assistance or recommendations. We thought that the location was incredibly central to all of the sights we were interested in. We were able to walk with our 7 and 10 year old daughters to the Spanish Steps and to the Colosseum! For the price, in Rome, I think it's amazing!!

Nice basic small clean room. Not much space but was clean and comfortable. We were a couple and a 6 month baby and managed fine. The proximity to termni station was great and made it very easy to get in and of different parts of Rome. The walk to the hotel from transportation was safe. Very good value for the price I was pleased by what we got as I was uncertain how it would be as it was relatively cheap.

There is no in room safe so that was a bit disappointing as I had to carry our money and passports. When u leave the room u have to leave the room key at reception as the the locks are not key card entry.

Reception staff was very friendly and helpful.

Quiet location close to everything!

15 minute walk from Termini, and to Colosseum. Lots of buses, train stops close by. Very walkable to restaurants, shopping. We found the room clean, and adequate for our stay. The pricepoint is good for Rome. The reviews are accurate in regards to the breakfast. Not a lot is provided but it's enough to get your day started. would stay again.

The location of the hotel was ideal, close enough to walk to all of the key sites and on a nice street with a few different restaurants to choose from. It was particularly good for us as one of our party is celiac and there is a gluten free patisserie right next door to the hotel! The staff were extremely helpful and approachable and nothing was too much trouble. The price was very good considering how central we were. The only negative was that the breakfast was pre packaged on a table in the bedroom which wasn't quite what we expect, but this wouldn't put us off and would definitely recommend and use this hotel again.

It was good. The owner stayed in contact with us the whole way. She greeted us upon arrival. The room was clean and the are was quiet. Not bad overall. The cons, parking is hard to find around the area, and breakfast you really have to make on your own. You are provided with the ingredients, but you have to make. Very central so you are able to walk to all the sites worth seeing, cafes and restaurants right outside the guest house, shops and everything else two minute walk away. Nice size room with kitchen and bathroom all very clean. A lovely lady called Dorriena met us there and she gave us lots of information and made sure we were all ok. Only a ten minute walk from the terrmini .Would book here again if going back to Rome.

The host was very nice and accommodating. The room itself is nice and clean. The location is perfect. A convenient 15-20 minute walk from the train station and Trevi Fountains (opposite directions). There are several restaurants and cafe right outside the building, so it was perfect for us. You may have problems finding the actual place because google maps took us right front of a restaurant, but the restaurant manager knows exactly what and who we were looking for and they give the host a call for us. You can easily call the host yourself so she can make arrangements to meet you outside the building. She was very nice! I would definitely stay here again.

Staff are very friendly. Everything you need is in the room, and there is also a kitchen outside which you can cook your own food.

perfect for families to discover Rome

Hotel is tucked away down a side street but on arrival we were greeted and shown the way to the room. Room was perfect for a family of five (sleeping in one large room). Clean, tidy and functional. Don't rely on the breakfast, the snacks provided were welcome but not substantial. Hotel is in a great location to explore the ancient city of Rome on foot. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. I'd be happy to recommend this hotel to a friend. we are planning to return (when it's cooler....Rome in July was hot!!)

Great location great host

Outstanding location, very central. Very clean and comfortable with very nice hosts. Rooms well equipped with AC. Breakfast a little simple, but ok. On second day we went to the café just outside for a cappuccino and some breakfast instead. Would definitely recommend overall.

The property is centrally located within walking distance of the Coliseum and The Forum with shops & restaurants nearby. The property itself is on the 6th floor approached by a claustrophobic lift and although our room overlooked the courtyard it was somewhat dark and dreary. The hostess Dorina was very welcoming and tried to be helpful. We stayed 4 nights during which time none of the bed linen or towels were changed.

Great guest room with superb service for families

My family including my 3 year old daughter went to Rome on a late train from Milan. We had a really late check in at around midnight and we were really concerned that the accommodation may not be able to arrange anyone for us. Fortunately, the owner of the guest house was really reassuring when I email them the day before my checkin and organised someone get the door for us at midnight. We were so surprised to see the house keeper (Dorina) who waited for us at the main road when we got off the bus. She waited for us outside just in case we couldn’t find our way in. I really appreciated the kind welcome from Dorina who also gave us so much help to get around Rome for our two day trip. I would highly recommend this guest house to families with small kid. Just bear in mind though, old apartment in Italy only has small lift that could only fit two people at the time.

We had some challenges finding the location, but once we were settled it was great. The location is fantastic - close to Trevi, Colosseum and Forum, and many other locations. The guest house is located just off a main street, but it was incredibly quiet. Dorina was an angel and helped with parking, espresso and directions.

Functional but not great - apart from the location

Functional apartment room has everything you need. Great WiFi. Friendly attendant let's you in but you will not really see her again till you leave. Everything was as expected. Great location. Room facilities average. Close to plenty of restaurants.

Best b&b in Rome

We loved the place!! It's a ten minute walking distance from all of the sight seeing places. We never used public transport to get around the city while staying there. The room is really nice and clean, the place well equipped and beautiful. It's located in a really quiet place, yet is in the center. The only downside is that our room didn't have a clock, and we relied on pur phones. It's not a minus, but we just found it a bit odd. Many thanks to Dorina for being very helpful and an excellent housekeeper!

Nice host and room

The lady who owns this guest house is very nice and friendly. Lovely room and ensuite with breakfast items provided. There is a shared kitchen which you can use. The guesthouse isn't on the sixth floor with just a small lift, fine for us but maybe not with a buggy/wheelchair
