Location was great to visit the Niece who is studying nearby and to head into Cardiff for the rugby. Public transport is well placed - a bus stop nearby took us into Pontypridd for parkrun and also the Trehafod train station for getting to Cardiff.
We are at the restaurant and the food was delicious and highly recommend.
Staff were welcoming and friendly.

Room was dirty on arrival, had to ask for the shower to be cleaned and the carpet hoovered.

Cleaning was not kept on top of and during the stay I had to ask for the bed to be changed and toilet roll to replaced as we had none left whatsoever.

Besides from this the hotel was perfect for the location of where we were going and the bed was very comfortable.

The room was completely neglected. There were so many stains, literally the more we looked the more stains there were. Sheets and duvet were dirty and had mould on them. The glasses and mugs on the side had lipstick marks and they were filthy and sticky.

The information leaflet in the room was incorrect, it stated there was a happy hour Monday to Thursday 6pm-8pm, we came down to the bar and they explained thats not the case anymore and they need to take that leaflet out the rooms.

The breakfast stated it was £10pp when we came down they also said that was outdated and that it was actually £12.50pp.

The remote was sticky and dirty, the bed had short curly hairs in it. The lamp and sofa chair had so many stains it looked like a dalmatian.

There was no hair dryer and the fire alarm sounded at 5am for 10 seconds and there was no information about what was going on or what to do.

As a whole, the fact it's a £70+ a night hotel its very overpriced and the cleaners need to be sacked. I will be requesting a FULL refund

The staff were pleasant and helpful. However the general state of the hotel is old and tired. It is seriously in need of refurbishment to bring it up to the heritage name. The stay itself was not unpleasant but the photos make the hotel look better than it really is.

Room was filthy. I have picture gor evidence . Glad it was one night stay. Didnt feel to.have breakfast or having any food from the hotel after this. Shower head was soo filthy. Mini fridge was on floor. TV wires on wall window was so so filthy. Hasnt clean ata all. Floor .as traveller this wasn't up to even basic cleaning standard. Only possitive experience was quick check in and and receptionist.

Staff were superb. No heating when I arrived window open 4 degrees outside.
Reception guy gave me a fan heater then got heating working but failed again in the morning.
Took a shower bottle fell off wall it was fixed with insulating tape.
No filter coffee for breakfast just instant told I would have to pay additional £2 for filter.
Could not get to tell to manager health with me by e mail I requested refund and he offered a free main course and a drink

The staff were amazing! Everyone was very friendly and they kept us away from the wedding party that was taking place which was ideal! we booked two rooms one of which had no electricity and the staff did resolve this as it was simply a blown fuse. The beds were less than idea and we found them to be lacking in support and comfort due to aged mattresses I assume. The food was great but there were a number of items that they were unable to serve as they had sold out, I assume due to the prior mentioned wedding party. This hotel was booked very last minute at a affordable rate. It served it's purpose and in a pinch i would choose this over many other hotels in the area.

Food in the Bar wasn’t great and the room was by far the noisiest room I have ever stayed in.
I think it must be next to the laundry and the extractor in the bathroom is faulty and wouldn’t shut off. 4.30 am and awake not a restful nights sleep I’ll be glad to get home tomorrow.

I had mixed experience of my stay. Good things are Location, brilliant surroundings and plenty of parking space.
Breakfast choices limited for vegetarians. Quality was poor. The lady on the counter felt overwhelmed and quite rude when we asked for a warm milk for little one. Her reply was “I am bit busy atm”. I found they were under staffed while hotel was fully blocked.

Part of the Wyndham chain, this hotel is situated just off a roundabout on some main roads with a good sized car park nice and close to the entrance which was fortunate due to the monsoon weather. I was greeted warmly on check-in . The room was smart and clean although the window was quite an old wooden frame. The hotel had a decently equipped gym which I made full use of. The shower was so good that I had to turn down the pressure which is a first for a hotel shower. I slept well in a very comfy king sized bed. Breakfast was on a buffet basis with plenty of options available and was delicious. Outside of tired décor in the corridors and some mold on the bathroom sealant, everything ensured I have a fantastic overnight stay and I would look to stay here again given the chance.

Upgraded on arrival from a double room to a superior double. The room I was upgraded to was in absolutely disgusting state. I have no idea what bodily fluids were on this chair but it doesn’t bare thinking about. Went to the restaurant for food and that has gone massively downhill. I’ve stayed in this hotel a few times on business but it just shows how much something can deteriorate in such a short space of time. It does make you wonder if it has been used as a migrant hotel.

no hot water, no apology, no follow-up

We stayed at this hotel from 18–20 July. Unfortunately, our experience fell well short of what you would expect from a four-star property.

Our shower had no hot water. On the first day we had to be given access to a different room just to wash. By the second day the problem still hadn’t been fixed, no one had updated us, and the staff on duty weren’t aware of the ongoing issue. We had to explain everything again and ended up trying two more rooms before we could finally shower.

To be clear, the staff we dealt with during our stay – including housekeeping – were lovely, apologetic and genuinely tried to help. The real disappointment came afterwards: despite emailing the hotel (as instructed by reception staff) three times, the only reply I ever received was a brief message saying the manager will deal with it next week. That never happened, and all further contact was ignored. Even when Hotels.com chased the matter up on my behalf, the hotel flatly refused to offer so much as an apology, let alone a refund or gesture of goodwill.

The lack of hot water was inconvenient enough, but the complete refusal to engage with my complaint afterwards was what really left a bad impression. A four-star hotel should be able to manage basic facilities and, at the very least, communicate with its guests when something goes wrong. Sadly, this hotel failed on both counts.

The hotel looks amazing on the pictures but in real life doesn’t quite reflect the same. The room was OK but the bathroom was very dated. Plug hole was broken but this was fixed when asked. We were also woken up at 3am to the fire alarm going off which absolutely terrified me.

Didn’t eat in the restaurant to comment on the food. I thought room service was an option here (I may be wrong) but there was no information about this anywhere.

We stayed at the hotel as we were attending a concert in Cardiff. The photos are very deceptive, the public areas were lovely but the bedroom felt tired, there was damage to the bathroom door & bedroom wall & kettle not working. Very comfortable bed though so a good nights sleep. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was okay, not a huge fan of buffet breakfasts where food is left in warming dishes, choice was okay but not great. Not somewhere I would stay again but that’s purely on my preference.

Ideal for a visit to the Heritage park next door,I was there whilst they had a wedding and a Prom night. Both had very little impact on my stay. I ate there all 6 nights I was there and enjoyed the meals which were very reaonably priced. I was particularly impressed by James, who made sure everything was the way i liked it. The rest of the staff were very nice and helpul throughout the hotel.

Our wedding anniversary stay, we were told about a wedding party being held when we booked in, so we were aware of potential party noise.
We chose to eat in the restaurant and the food service was fast and efficient, the food served was cooked well and tasty.
The bar and restaurant staff were friendly.
The room was large, but the bathroom was small, the room was also not soundproof, the noises were not from the wedding party downstairs. So not a good nights sleep.

The hotel doesn't look to bad from the outside and reception area was clean and staff were friendly. However we arrived and were told that the kitchen was having some maintenance so the restaurant was shut which was disappointing. We then went to our family room which was right at the end of a long corridor, which smelt of damp and air freshners. The room set up great, which I why I chose this hotel. There was a double bed for myself and my wife and a single bed for my 12 year old. But the room felt dirty and the adjoining door (which we weren't using) looked like someone had tried break out through it, with a screwdriver. The bathroom was very tired as well, with broken tiles etc. We slept ok, despite the couple next door arguing till the early hours and then making up!!! Breakfast was poor as well, it seemed to be a microwaved full english. A really disappointing stay.

Its a nice hotel . The room was nice, the bed and pillows were comfortable. We spent 6 hours in the bar and restaurant as we met relatives from Canada there. The fish and chips were really nice. My cousin had chicken wings starter and was shocked to get only 2 wings , in Canada they would get 6 . The bar and restaurant was too cold. There was a very loud noise that woke us up at 5.30 and it seemed to come from the ceiling in the bathroom and hallway. Sadly that spoiled our stay .

Bad from start to finish. We booked a twin room but when we arrived it was a double. I went to reception and was told not her problem rooms are auto allocated! She was very rude and offered me bedding to sleep on the floor! She kept saying not her fault or problem. Very unhelpful. We went to breakfast and there was nothing much in the way of hot food so I went to ask for sausages, bacon and mushrooms the lady rolled her eyes and said she’d go and ask chef to cook some just for us. All in all an uncomfortable and disappointing stay. Definitely gone downhill since it has changed hands.

I stayed here for two nights (Saturday and Sunday) while visiting Bike Park Wales, and I was really impressed with the value for money. Booking just a week in advance, I only paid £55 for a two-person room with breakfast included—an absolute bargain!

The room was clean and comfortable, though I did struggle a bit with temperature control. The window didn’t close fully, and while the radiator had adjustable heat, it wasn’t entirely clear when it was actually on or off throughout the day. That said, it wasn’t a dealbreaker.

Breakfast was great—not anything particularly special, but definitely more than just the bare minimum for a continental breakfast, which was a nice touch. The shower was powerful and clean, though the mounts were a bit loose and wobbly.

The location is a little out of the way, so if you don’t have a car, it might not be the most convenient. However, for the price, cleanliness, and overall experience, I’d absolutely stay here again. Perfect for a budget-friendly stay near Bike Park Wales!

Dont know where to start!

There was a feeling of u safe in the property from when i parked my car in the car park to when I entered my room.

If not that i was tired and arrived at night, id have left for another place.

Staff were not welcoming at all and spoke as though not interested in their job.

I ordered dinner to my room and it came uncovered having travelled a far distance from the restaurant area where i ordered it from- how grim!!!the plates looked old, uninviting and dead.

The room was tattered, with mouldy and rusty walls. The moment i stepped into the bath for a shower, the curtains and rods fell. Everywhere looked irritating with a rusty sink which i couldn't brush om And there was a foul smell in the room that made me feel sick.

Bathroom had a sticker that says slipper bath and they did nothing such as provide a math to protect you!

The room door had a sticker which said lock your door which told me that i easnt safe- i prayed to God for protection that night and come morning, i said a prayer of thanksgivung and ran out skipping breakfast, ofcourse!

Room and toilet were not clean. Notwithstanding the fact that it is an old property, it is very obvious that proper upkeeping is not maintained. Towel rack in the toilet was covered with rust across all the bars, and our towels were hung onto them! In all honesty, hanging the towels onto such a rack hides the reality that is it filled with rust.

Bedsheets beddings had weird stains and patches on them. It was an uncomfortable stay.

The only good thing about the hotel is the reception team. They went out of their way to make sure you were happy. I dont really like leaving a negative review unless there really is a good reason and the owners of this hotel need to hear the reasons.

The hotel is worn. The rooms arent of an acceptable standard even for the money paid. The carpets smell of damp and are torn. Furniture is stained and damaged. Matresses are beyond their life. Rooms are dirty and mouldy. Locks dont work on doors. Some doors dont close. Some doors dont open. Service is slow in the bar. There just are not enough staff. We were told a simple coffee would take 10 minutes as the girl was the only person on serving breakfast. Drinks were expensive for a poor bar. The fire alarm sounded regularly even in the middle of the night because \"someome was having a shower and left the door open\". Vans were parked in the disabled spaces. The car park was mostly flooded. Another person was in front of me complaining their room was dirty and the toilet in an unspeakable state. The owners appear to not care. We had to change rooms. Its not somewhere i would stay again. Its not somewhere i wished i had stayed. Forgive me father for I have stayed... Though credit to reception staff for dealing with an impossible situation. This hotel would be really be well suited to warmer climates like Torquay. A comedy.

Great place to stay!

Nice place to stay - excellent service on the evening. The waiter was incredibly friendly and interacted really well with my child. The waitress in the morning looked like she was chewing a wasp.

Mattress was completely dipped on one side.. and decor could do with a little spruce in the room. otherwise a lovely venue, great bar and lounge area and good food (although my pie was all mash on top and very little meat).

Awful smell within the room! Someone had urinated on the mattress previously and had been covered over with fresh sheets. Disgusted no one called it sooner and mattress had been moved around. No one should of stopped in the room I was in! Shame on hotel!
