Bathroom was poor with outdated bath and shower which was dangerous to use.
The group booking for 9 people did not seem to exist. Very poor internal communication.
The bedroom doors were not soft close and banged all night as people went to their rooms.
We were refused entry to the dining area at 7.00 pm as we hadn't booked never having being informed of such a procedure at reception.
Finally two days before we were due to arrive we were informed that our booking made on Jan 23rd nearly 2 months prior was cancelled due to overbooking!! After several phonecalls to the hotel we finally got our booking reinstated. What a stressful experience for an 82 year old alumni of the University attending our 63rd reunion (Rutherford Hall block 5 ,1963)

Room was fine, housekeeping didn’t always refresh the teabags which was frustrating and the room service food was overdone and lukewarm by the time it was delivered, which was disappointing. Staff were mainly friendly and helpful although bar staff were abrupt and on one occasion rude.

Staff was friendly, but the hot tub was freezing, and there was no signage or notice. The walls were also extremely thin, and you could hear everything in the neighboring rooms. In addition, the doors slammed every time they were closed, which created unnecessary noise. Also, the rooms themselves are quite small, so just FYI, if you're staying with multiple people.

Great location and venue. Stayed here multiple times. Staff are great and really hard working. Definitely coming back. Only issue is check out time of 10am which is really early especially if you are going with kids and want a swim in the morning

Excellent base for what we had planned over the weekend. We got lost on arrival and had a self-guided tour of the campus but the hotel itself was pleasant and the beds were comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for one night, very bad experience. Room smelled like it was never opened before. Mattress wasn’t good at all. Couldn’t sleep properly. I forgot my phone charger and contacted them to get it back, they didn’t even tried to look for it. Didn’t replied to my emails.definitely not coming back.

Well situated on the University campus with the added bonus of being able to charge my EV overnight for a reasonable price. Although the name of the hotel sounds quite grand, the standard of the rooms is more like shared student accommodation than a 4 star hotel. The restaurant is expensive for the quality of the food available which I think is adequate rather than exceptional. However, for an overnight stay it was a good option, more out of convenience rather than value for money.

I stay here regularly. Reception staff always really helpful. Only disappointing thing was the pool was not warm apparently issues with the system so on this occassion i didnt use it.

Service was good as was the cleanliness but that's all. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed ever rock hard the sheets felt like they were made of plastic and the towels were rough. In our room all we could hear was the pipes so unbelievably loud all night long zero sleep. The next night we returned after a wedding and the whole floor stunk of cannabis including our room so we left that was really the final straw

Had to move room initially as mould on the net curtain and all over the window and the lights were flickering constantly. The guy that first night seemed really stressed but was helpful and sorted a new room. But Second room, broken window it remained open and wouldn’t close and I was freezing! By the time it came to middle of the night. The bathroom had urine stain tiles around the base and the towel on the bed had stains. I didn’t bother moving room again as I was there for business x 2 nights and had no time as it was late when I realised the window wouldn’t close when I had moved room and went to go to bed. The second night there was no staff available to ask about the window. I was exhausted from work so just put up with the open window. When I went to check out the woman in the desk was very rude. I handed her my key she huffed and said uh fine I will take care of it’ I said I’m handing it to you because I want to let you know about room window. She huffed and said “fine I will sort it “ and that was it!

Our stay was good. The room was reasonably clean and well presented. We had dinner in the restaurant. Food was ok. The Fish and chips lacked seasoning and the sticky toffee pudding was cold and dense, was expecting it to be warm and much lighter with less sauce which made it sickly sweet

Overall a great hotel in a great location. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were perfect. The bathroom did give off a sewage smell in the evening but once the bathroom door was closed- we didn’t have any other issues and it did not affect our stay. We will definitely return!

Good points - the staff were very attentive and friendly. The room was modern and well equipped and it was quiet and clean. There was a lovely choice of food and drinks at Breakfast.
Bad points - the bed mattress was very firm, solid almost, uncomfortable. After being out in the evening I thought, at 11:05pm, I'd pop along to the bar just to grab a drink to take to my room and it was closed. Had I have known I would have grabbed something on the way back to the hotel.

The stay was overall excellent and I have only one complaint. During dinner my wife asked for the cheese board and specifically stated no blue cheese,in delivery, blue cheese appeared. When mentioned waiter stated she would inform the kitchen didn't even attempt to change the cheese or take it away. A little thing but not what I would expect from such an establishment.

Overall tbe hotel has a nice atmosphere and ambiance, however major issues: there is no air conditioning or was 25 degrees in August a small table fan isn't enough it was too hot. 2nd the dinner at took over 1 hour to arrive with a child being served at 9pm we complained they gave the dinner for free. Our stay was fine, but the room was unbelievably hot even though it was an averagely hot evening. It was as if the heating was on! There was a fan in the room but no air-conditioning whatsoever, which is odd considering this is a hotel that sports people stay at. Plus, there was absolutely no drinking water in the room at all.

The offering at the bar and restaurant were good, we opted for breakfast and glad we did as there was a nice selection. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. We arrived and were greeted by an extremely friendly and helpful man on reception. Check is was no problem however our room (57) was very clean - large hair on room service menu, dust on surfaces and only own towel. Went back to reception and the same man apologised and moved us to another room (8). This room was much better. We went to the pool which was nice but the changing rooms could do with updating/a good clean. We had dinner in the bar and the food was good but some of the younger staff seemed aimless - standing around chatting in the restaurant entrance and even though one was stood behind the bar, they couldn’t serve us as they were under age. Why are they then behind the bar? Saying that, some of the staff were lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful

Turning up at a ‘4 star’ hotel with staff in the reception area who didn’t greet us, carrying on their own conversations then just stood and said ‘checking in?, pointing at the iPads. We wasn’t fast enough so she was then a little condescending. This was our first let down. We were given our keycard with our room number on then told to go up the corridor and upstairs to find our room. We weren’t told about any amenities, wasn’t told about any treatments or how to book them. Considering this was why we came. Our room smelled of sewers, but with the frosty reception of the front staff it wasn’t even worth complaining as we felt like we’d be looked down on.
We looked around the hotel to look for the swimming pool, spa area and restaurant ourself.

Had a lovely meal, during our stay, for our daughter's graduation. We also had cocktails which were excellent. The option of air conditioning would be a bonus, but we were provided with a fan and the fact that you can open a window meant that we had a comfortable room temperature. All the staff were lovely, Lesley was particularly helpful. We have stayed here previously and the refurbishments have made it an even better experience.
