The room was ok but the bathroom was a little dated. Being on the top floor the ceiling in the bathroom was angled over the bath so showing signs of paint peeling and cracked tiles. The bed i found too hard causing back issues and we had to keep opening the window due to the room getting to hot. Besides that the room was spotlessly clean, breakfast provided a good selection and the staff were very attentive. The hotel is in a lovely rural location and it only took 15 min to get into the centre of Gloucester.

The room was great - clean and with the facilities we wanted. It was warm in the room with no thermostat though. The staff were fabulous - nice and friendly in the bar restaurant and housekeeping.

Too hot at night instructions to adjust would have handy, room was nice and clean though. We were staying as we were attending a party and the food was delicious, sadly I couldn’t say the same for the bacon on the breakfast it was not cooked through the rashers were still folded in half as they come in the packet. We had a two night stay but sadly will not be booking again

Staff are great and really make you feel welcome. Even though the menu was limited the evening meal was very good and the breakfast buffet tasted very fresh and lots of variety, though I would like to have seen potted yogurts more than just the plain variety in a bowl. The room was very clean and had a great shower, though slightly dated it’s a great place to stay in lovely grounds

My first time at this venue and on arrival I got a good feeling. Everything was exceptional and I told more than one member of staff. I heard other guests doing the same. It is rare these days to experience this level of service & attention to detail in the UK. I am truly looking forward to going back in November. a five star venue.

Avoid!

Hotel is very tired. Bedrooms definitely in need of a refurb! Evening meal was awful. Avoid the salmon obviously all microwaved. I expect more from a hotel especially at £230 for bed, breakfast and evening meal on a Tuesday. Your local Wetherspoons will offer better quality food. We gave breakfast a miss and opted for a McMuffin down the road. A coach arrived when we were there so and assuming it’s a hotel used for coach breaks to Cheltenham or the Cotswolds. In all honest I would recommend you avoid. We will not be returning.

The hotel and staff were fabulous. The food was delicious and our room couldn’t have been cleaner, but we were above the foyer toilet and had to endure every flush, hand wash and hand dryer - which got annoying. We’d definitely stay again but would ensure it was in a different room.

No AC or elevators, but accommodating staff and nice restaurant and bar options.

there were two proms on the property back to back which we did not get a heads up about… it made parking very difficult which was not ideal after coming back from a day trip.

Great place! Would definitely go again. Overall, could do with a deeper clean in the room, but the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was nice, enjoyed having a bath!

Nightmare at Bowden

The rooms allocated were on the top floor. There is no lift and we are both in our 70s and disabled. The staff changed the rooms, but one was over the kitchen, and the other next to what appeared to be a 747 jet testing area. I had to ask to be moved again in the middle of the night.

Had a very nice stay with friends in this hotel on a B&B basis. The hotel was a good nightly rate and close to Gloucester so was a good choice for us. The property was clean and welcoming but looked a little tired around the edges and in need of a little updating, although it was nice and clean and the staff friendly. Our room was comfortable with clean and fresh linen, the bathroom also clean with fresh towels.
Breakfast was very nice with a good choice which was on a buffet style. Very nice bread for toast and eggs could be prepared by request if you wanted them different from the fried supplied on the full English buffet bar. The staff at breakfast time were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them and you were always welcomed to the breakfast room with a friendly smile.
I would happily stay at this hotel again if I was visiting the area.

Lovely building in nice setting. Room was old fashioned but spacious and clean. The staff were very good although check in is a slightly wierd set up and our room wasnt ready until shortly after 3pm.
Overall lots to like with one big BUT,
I paid £17/50 for the worst fish n chips ive ever had, and thats a lot of fish n chips!! Fish was awful, chips were not chips but fries and the mushy peas were countable in quantity, truly awful meal.
I probably wont go again but as i say there were good aspects

Good hotel with lovely grounds & excellent staff.

Hotel is in a very good location. An old manor house. The inside of the premises looked like it was refurbished but the outside is in need of TLC & a very good clean. The grounds are lovely. Our bedroom was good apart from tea cups that were not washed. Over all a very nice stay. Good breakfast with plenty of choices. Dinner was good too. Excellent staff with very good customer service. We will visit again if in the area.

Nice weekend stopover

Very enjoyable stay after a day’s cycling. Ate in the bar at night - food was fine but not outstanding - service excellent. Breakfast on the other hand was very good indeed.

Hotel has a strange layout in that there are no lifts - to get to our room you had to go up approx 15 steps, walk along a corridor, then descend another staircase - very strange and not too welcoming after 4 hours on a bicycle !!

Lovely venue, shame about the cleanliness

Great get away.

We had a superior suite but the bathroom was in need of updating and the carpet in the bedroom had stains all over it. We probably wouldn’t stay again for these reasons. Bedroom and bathroom needed a deep clean, carpets shampooing. Needed to ring reception on day of arrival as stains on bottom sheet and tear in quilt cover. Dealt with quickly but expected better. Breakfast was fantastic as were all the staff. Hotel room felt worn. Big lounge but no christmas tree or any decorations which would have been festive.

Nice but a little tired.

The hotel itself is nice with good staff. We had a lovely welcome at reception. Our room was tucked away from any noise but to be fair we didn't hear anything. The room was spacious but felt a little tired and the carpet had a couple of stains. We had a drink in the bar which whilst pleasant felt expensive at £18. I think as a hotel venue people look pass a lot of the issues but as a couple I'm not sure I'd return.

Disappointing weekend away

Food was expensive and not value for money. One restaurant with limited choice. Every morning, there was an issue with our breakfast - food cold, needed reheating, omelette was a disaster !
TV very limited , only ‘free view’ channels and the remote didn’t work properly.
Used shower once and the bathroom flooded, didn’t use shower again.
Not the relaxing weekend we had planned.
