This turned out to be a well run private hotel - i.e. not one of the major chains, but to a similar standard. The usual facilities were present, including fridge, microwave, kettle and hair dryer, with en suite bathroom. I read a negative review from some time back, but had no difficulty in December 2025. Breakfast involved getting 10% discount at the cafe (Poppins) across the road. It was also convenient for the train and bus stations.

Staff very helpful and welcoming. However the hotel is located next to the station in the centre of town with lots of late night noise from traffic/trains and also seagulls. The rooms are basic for the price. There is no air conditioning and the window has a small limited opening so whilst a small fan was provided this wasn’t adequate in the summer heat so we got very little sleep. There is a multi storey car park available in the shopping centre opposite which is well lit and a 5 - 10 min walk from the hotel out of hours. Much nearer in the days as accessible through the shopping centre. Free to park from 5pm-7am and hourly charges thereafter. Nice local cafe opposite (Poppins) for breakfast with 10% discount for hotel residents.

A gem! Check in smooth and speedy. The receptionist was lovely and polite. Beds are so comfy, clean rooms, fabulous shower and tea, coffee etc all in the room (we also had a fridge and microwave). Only downside is that it doesn't have double glazing, so it was a little noisy (forgot to take earbuds).

It’s right in the centre of town the Kingston walk car park is right opposite and is cheap for overnight parking the only thing it doesn’t have is wheelchair access my wife hurt her back after I had booked the hotel luckily she could manage to walk up 3 steps to get in but others might not be able to the staff were very good about it and moved us to a room were there were no stairs to use

Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They did say my room number out loud when checking in (solo female traveler), but there wasn't anyone else within earshot so it wasn't a problem. Room was absolutely fine as a cheap place to stay for the night, although there were a few cosmetic faults- peeling wallpaper, a wobbly toilet roll holder and a strange patch on the carpet. Saying that, everything seemed clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was lovely. I didn't go and have the breakfast so I can't say anything about that. The free wifi seemed decent. Overall, I'd definitely stay here again if I'm in town for the night, although I'd probably go somewhere a little fancier if it was a longer stay.

To be honest, this is not a hotel. They are simply renting out very low standard rooms paint is coming off the walls the windows are thin as can be you have to listen to all the drunks and druggies outside constantly we were on the ground floor. You couldn’t open the curtains Was like a dungeon room bedding is very basic. The sheets don’t even cover the mattress protector which is completely worn out. The towels are very basic. The drain in the shower was blocked. We reported it on day one nothing was done. The location is fabulous so central to everything we needed expect the neighbours behind but you can ignore that if the hotel standard was better .

Very clean, smart and obviously recently refurbished. Friendly reception. New furniture, but very cramped. Double bed so close to wall in front that I scraped my shins four times in less than 24 hours. The television is mounted on the same wall, so avoiding the corners of the bed frame caused me twice to strike my shoulder on the lower corner of the TV. Shower room also smart, but hot water supply is extremely hot. We could not work out how to get any cold water from the shower and could only get it to range between too hot and scaldingly hot. We were on a tight schedule so had no time to mention this before we left.

The front desk did nothing to keep us informed about what was going on. We had to go and ask them each day what the status was, and their response was always the same. We’ll get ask maintenance to come and fix it. . I am really disappointed that they didn’t care or actively try to resolve the issue or keep us informed about what was going on. In the end, we didn’t have hot water for our entire trip. So although they had a 24 hr front desk, I’m not sure what they did, because they were not able to actively follow up and address guests concerns.

The location of this hotel is excellent and easy to find. Check in was straightforward and quick. The room itself was a good size and had a separate sitting area with a sofa, TV, fridge, kettle and microwave. There was a good choice of cutlery and glasses too. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was hot and powerful.
The bed was comfortable and it was very quiet during the night.
The only downside was the temperature which was boiling! I turned the radiators off but no windows opened so it made it feel a little stuffy.

We had a one night stay which was very comfortable with a clean and modernised room but the view was not particularly inspiring. We had minimal but very polite interaction with the reception staff. The hotel was pretty good value and the location was convenient to the center and docks area. The one downside was there was no onsite parking despite the website saying there was. This was the entire reason we booked this hotel over the more characterful New Inn. So this was a little frustrating. Other than that, a good stay.

Great location. However, I had significant problems about safety in the shower stall. First, I could barely move the water volume and water temperature controls which made the flow too strong and too hot. Next, the shower floor was so slippery that I had to use my cloth bathmat as anti-skid protection. Last, there was a sign above the sink that read, “Do not drink the water,\" even though there was a coffee maker nearby. A receptionist said that sign signals simply that sometimes the water sits in the tank too long. She also had the shower temperature reduced about one degree Celsius. Not enough.
If these problems are resolved, I would like to re-visit the Central Hotel.

Room could have been cleaner and there was a sign saying tap water was not for drinking. Wifi wasn’t working and the shower basin was blocked. Told reception who acknowledged it and said nothing else. I’ll not be back.

The hotel is a self catering but sadly i didnt know my flaunt really..the front deck was welcoming so if ur not to fussed about the catering and just want somewhere to sleep then the hotel is highly recommended :)

Room floor hadnt been vacummed properly, still loose bits. Cupboard had dirt on the shelf like some scraped it off their shoe. Large and easily noticible food crumbs on fridge shelf. Sideboards and side table had not been wiped so i did it myself, coffee granules and all sorts left on there.

Positives:
- The location of the hotel was excellent as it was right in the city centre and it was only 6-7 minutes from Gloucester Cathedral and other attractions.
- The staff were very friendly and accomodating. As soon as we informed them that we were in Gloucester for a few days to look for flats to rent, they offered their suggestions
- The price was a real positive - we booked this hotel the same day we checked in and even so, the price was good.

Negatives:
- What we considered the most bothersome was that the en-suite bathroom was very stuffy - this was a pungent smell that you could feel everytime you entered the bathroom. Perhaps a result of not airing the bathroom enough or not having a proper ventilation fan (and no windows)
- The hotel does not have a car park and we had to park our car nearby, in the shopping centre's car park.
- The hotel offers plates and cutlery, however these were of questionable cleanliness unfortunately.
- The room was advertised to have a double bed, however upon arrival it was clear that two beds have just been put together.
- The location of the hotel was excellent as it was right in the city centre and it was only 6-7 minutes from Gloucester Cathedral and other attractions.

- What we considered the most bothersome was that the en-suite bathroom was very stuffy - this was a pungent smell that you could feel everytime you entered the bathroom. Perhaps a result of not airing the bathroom enough or not having a proper ventilation fan (and no windows)
- The hotel does not have a car park and we had to park our car nearby, in the shopping centre's car park.
- The hotel offers plates and cutlery, however these were of questionable cleanliness unfortunately.
- The room was advertised to have a double bed, however upon arrival it was clear that two beds have just been put together.
