A beautiful and historic property surrounded deep in nature, Cowley Manor gives me a luxurious and comfortable stay. The room is spacious with many thoughtful touches. I love the view from my room facing the pond and the greens. Staff is courteous, and dinner is delicious. This hotel is on the pricier side, but it’s worth the experience.

Annoyingly when i stayed the fire alarm went off twice during the day and unbelievably at 4am which woke all residents with no reason. No apology given or explanation in the morning. Spa wasn't as nice as you would expect, and no jacuzzi. Room lovely though.

This is a SPA hotel located in a quiet countryside. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The reception lady was nice to show us around after check-in. The down side was the dinner at the hotel restaurant which was not many choices from the manual and Bar. And the taste of the food was so so.

While I appreciate the interior design, plywood panels to our bedroom felt very cheap at this price point and at odds to the grandeur of the building. And while furniture throughout the property was all very modern, some furniture like the dining room tables were a case of form over function with large pedestals in the way of your feet. At 54 I was also one of the oldest guests with the modern interior clearly attracting a much younger audience including groups of friends. Staff were all very young too and inexperience was often on show. Overall, the property did not meet my own expectations for a refined 5 star getaway. Funnily enough, AI had been choosing all my hotels and did an amazing job. On this occasion it was chosen for proximity to the Cotswolds but AI highlighted that it way fall short in comparison to other properties we stayed at.

It’s a beautiful hotel with a lovely pool/spa area too. We stayed in a Treehouse Room which was lovely but 3 floors was a bit of a pain, wouldn’t stay in that room type again but happily at the hotel. Food and drink was also excellent.

I can see why Lewis Carroll wrote Alice in Wonderland here , it is an absolutely enchanting place . From the minute we arrived the staff were so lovely , it was my birthday and they really went the extra mile to make it very special. The room was stunning , very kind personal touches , spa was just so zen , food was fantastic , breakfast and service was particularly superb , loved the games room and went for lovely country walks.
For the 3 days we were there the service was consistently great , staff were engaging and I’m already looking at when we can return.

Experimental Group converted an existing luxury hotel.
Modern Furniture was added - or old one modernised.
In our room the old cupboard was painted and the doors covered with a new fabric. Bed, sofa, chairs and carpet were new. The bathroom was partial new - old shower, new sink, etc. The only downside was, that the room door was old (and a rather cheap addition in the 70s(?)) and did not close tightly.
Breakfast was great and the staff always friendly and helpful. The Gardens are marvellous and the pool is very nice.

If all this is worth the rather steep price, is up to you.

Can’t really fault the hotel apart from one small instance where we asked reception to book us a taxi to get us to our dinner reservation, but they had forgotten and we ended up being 30 mins late, otherwise it was great and the food was excellent. Decor was stunning, and the bathrooms were a particular highlight.
The spa however really let the side down, and considering it’s a spa hotel makes it overall quite disappointing. The staff aren’t helpful in the spa, the steam room was unavailable all weekend, lack of staff led to a limited menu at pool bar then our couples massage was cancelled an hour before because there wasn’t enough staff, they offered an unsuitable replacement (facial) or a different date but we aren’t local so it was of no use to us and meant we didn’t use the spa that day. The responses from main reception at checkout and the spa was unsatisfactory which is disappointing for a luxury hotel.

Loved our weekend here - amazing property and grounds - really great food - very relaxing.
Decor - tired and overly themed and the French designer clearly prioritised style over comfort and doesn’t know how to design a chair. The spa is beautiful but the treatments were underwhelming and a bit basic for the £££. So in summary a contemporary and beautiful property run by kids - very lovely kids who tried hard…but kids all the same. Feels like a grown up needs to get a hold of this place.

The hype related to Cowley Manor's recent makeover turned out to be just that. Hype. The breakfast and dinner menu is small, but the food is fantastic. The spa is a bright spot. Overall the level and quality of service needs addressing. The side entrance to the hotel has loose and broken floor tiles that are in need of significant repair. All in all a somewhat underwhelming visit despite initial high hopes.

Booked based on photos on website which looked great but reality was far different. Room in stable block dark cold and gloomy - there was no working heating anywhere in block. Spa full of noisy children and pool time cut short as one was sick in pool! Breakfast was poor and lacked care and attention typified by both myself and wife having egg shell in ours eggs benedict. Was a relief to check out so we could enjoy the fabulous area. Wish we had stayed at the close by Green Dragon next time which we found much more hospitable with great food too

Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. We were there for a spa and although the indoor pool was actually closed that day thankfully the weather was great and the outdoor pool lovely.
Room was lovely with a great private terrace. Service in the restaurant & bar also very good. Autumn made us the best margarita and was so friendly like all the team.

Overall it was a good hotel and good facilities. Although for a 5 star hotel it needs a bit of attention to detail, more staff training. For the 3 times I asked a bowl at breakfast the waiter had his finger inside it, amenities and mini bar in the room not replaced. The Spa is was clean and enjoyable place to be, although the staff member bearly noticed that we were coming in, for the type of hotel I would expect at least a free cup of tea.
We would come back for sure, the restaurant food it was stunning and the head chef menu was amazing.

Very friendly and when we got into the hotel/ manor Clare the receptionist showed us around and showed us how to use the coffee machine which we couldn’t get it to work so she got us a kettle and coffee to go with it. The leisure facilities were great and the restaurant food was not to my taste and breakfast was different but filling the only thing that I thought was wrong was you had to pay for a cooked breakfast but don’t need. Very clean and the house keeping was done twice a day would go back

This property has so much potential. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms comfortable. However, the vibe is not at all what you would expect from a Cotswold Country manor. Seems as though they are trying to hard to be cool, hence the club music going on through the manor 24/7, including at 7:30am.
Also, the staff at the front desk stares at their computers all day and night.
Also, beware when you book, especially with families.The advertise the room as being once price, but then add on quite a bit of $ for your children to stay per night. When I asked about the extra 500Euro charge, I received a rathe curt response. Good news is that this property is under new management, and will hopefully give it the attention this beautiful place deserves.

The bedroom was the main area of disappointment. Very creaky floorboards which went all the way into the bathroom. No kettle for tea, only a coffee machine where the water doesn't get quite to boiling point. No magnified shaving mirror in the bathroom and poor lighting. We chose this hotel for the spa and was disappointed to find it wasn't within the hotel but across the car park.
The location was approx 25 mins from Bourton on the Water. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast included was continental everything else on the menu was chargeable. We thought the wellies outside for guests to use was a lovely novel idea. We will not be returning to this hotel when we re visit the lovely Cotswolds.

We loved the hotel. The grounds were absutely stunning. The decor was a little odd (it felt out of kilter with the style of the hotel). But it was comfortable.

Check in was very slow, especially as there was only one staff member at the desk. Perhaps the hotel could consider having someone else do the tour to help speed things up?

The hotel's app is the best we've experienced (the wifi strength was excellent too, which helped).

There were some standout staff (eg the gentleman on the check-in desk, whose name we sadly didn't catch and Javier in the restaurant).

Overall we had a wonderful stay, exactly what we needed!

It's hard to review fairly during Covid. I would go back and try it again. It wasn't perfect but I enjoyed it. Reasonably treated with a dog. Staff friendly - could have offered a bit more info regarding what was/wasn't available. Not keen on using an app to order things but again that's covid related. Guest parking should be prioritised over Spa users.

We were told when we arrived at 11am that if we used the C side spa then lunch could be ordered from the C side Spa.

At 12.30pm I ordered lunch at the C side spa only to be told “ sorry sir we have a function in the manor so we can not do lunch today”!!
Talk about not treating guests as equals.
I argued my point, got stressed out and I eventually got lunch at 1pm.
I did not come to Cowley manor to get stressed out.

Beautiful hotel, set in lovely grounds. The 2 pools were amazing- indoor and out. Our room was on 3 floors, slightly odd as the bathroom was on the middle floor with a free standing bath and a separate shower cubicle. Wouldn’t suit everyone. Lovely toiletries though. A kettle in each room would be nice - using the coffee machine to make tea wasn’t ideal- only 2 tea pods and they made very strong tea. Overall, very nice hotel and the staff went out of their way to be helpful.
