Checking in was hassle free, didnt get name of lady on desk but she was so friendly /helpful. Only stayed 1 night, room clean, maybe bathroon door frame could do with some TLC. Parking was in NCP which was close to hotel. Only thing wasnt so good was Breakfast area far too small for size of hotel, it was fairly busy when we were there. No plates, ran out of a few different foods & didnt replenish these, even though 1 hr left of service.

The rooms in the photos are deceptively misleading. They are much smaller than they actually appear to be. The rooms are smaller than a travel lodge room. There is no room service despite being a leading hotel. Breakfast was ok, but it's super early 6:30am to 9:30am, all other hotels that I have been to breakfast is till 11am or 10am at least, although not a problem but we had thought of sleeping in late after a long 4 hour drive but this meant we couldn't do that. Some of the staff were very good, some felt like they were being forced to work there. The advertisement about parking and gym is also misleading as the gym is not in the hotel, it's another gym that 15 mins walk from the hotel, why would I want to walk in the cold to the gym. Parking is also NCP parking so it's not free, it's a discount of £3 pounds for the day, so you will end up paying £12 for day parking. The location, staff and shower was nice, that's about it. For double the cost of a Travelodge this hotel just wasn't worth it. I'll be using the Travelodge next time. Cheaper and less expectations.

Better to camp outside

AC sending extraterrestrial signals whilst it was off. Fire alarm latch frequently emitted intrusive sounds. Disturbing noises through the wall near the bed with random booming noise from the headboard at night.

Convenient for town. Staff were very welcoming. Starting to look a little 'tired' tho - stained carpets in communal area,and stained furniture in the room. Pretty good breakfast choices, to include non-dairy milks. Maybe more healthy cereal options and freshfruit toppings.

Absolutely terrible experience. It was not two full beds. It was a bed and a sofa couch that was terrible. The pool was not on the property and the hours for kid swim were limited. We got back late, found dried blood and crumbs in the sofa bed. No one picked up downstairs. I told Expedia and the hotel denied it- but I took photos.

OK, but not as described!

Very good breakfast, and overall not bad but once again having specifically booked a twin room I was only offered a double; why can't you ever get this right? (My wife has a machine to help her breathing at night and a double is very difficult for us BOTH to sleep). The car parking is extra cost and NOT on site but just down the road, a lot to ask for people lugging suitcases etc. Also, we couldn't use the restaurant as there was a \"function\" on that night, and we were given no advanced notice of that. Lastly, there are two lifts but with one out of order all the time we were there it meant a long wait or the stairs; not impressive.

Good Hotel Shame About The Carpark

A decent enough hotel in central Cheltenham. Beware car parking charges in adjacent NCP as this adds about £10 per night to your stay. If staying for more than one night and you need to use your car during your stay then DO NOT pay for parking in advance via the NCP website as the ticket only allows one entry and one exit from the car park.

Comfy budget hotel with nice staff

Basic hotel that was very comfortable for one night and had very lovely staff. My only complaint is that the room had a strange popping noise perhaps coming from the room next door or above. It was like the headboard MDF board was settling. Luckily I brought ear plugs and could eventually fall asleep.

But, I found blood stains on the carpet which had clearly been there for some time but no effort had been made to remove them.

It was too late to complain but very unpleasant and i belive the carpet shoukd have been replaced and the room put out of use.

Arrived for a two night stay at this central hotel in Cheltenham, location perfect.
Pleasant staff at check-in, things then started to go wrong when we were given keys to room 1, same floor as reception and otherside of the entrance .
We had an inside door next to the room, and basically a taxi waiting & smoking area outside our window .
The first night we came back approx 12pm and there were people sat on our wimdow ledge chatting into the early hours . We advised the hotel after the first night but as they were full could not move us.
On checking out we asked for a refund and after paying £280 for 2 nights we are receiving 1/4 back .
My advice is turn down any rooms located 1-6 unless you are disabled and deaf ….

The hotel was in a very good location, right by the shops, parks and other interests in Cheltenham town centre. Can’t fault the easy location. The hotel is good, staff were excellent and very helpful - they went above and beyond.

The only thing to be completely transparent about is the hotel is on a main road and is going to be noisy - NOT THE HOTEL’S FAULT! Nothing can be done about this so if you’ve never been to this hotel before please be ready to get woken by sirens from emergency service vehicles at 2am, and shouting etc from people walking back from the pub/club through the night.
It is a town centre and always busy so bring ear plugs or keep the tv on (I did) and you’ll sleep fine.

The breakfast was a real winner too and makes up for the tiredness!!

Breakfast was very limited. The hotel was extremely busy on a Saturday morning and most of the hot items had ran out.
Parking in the nearby NCP is very expensive.

Otherwise, I was very happy with the stay from check-in to checkout.

Very disappointed with the quality of this hotel. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is good, but that’s about all I can praise. Everything else is unacceptable. My only advice is run if you have an alternative to this!

All room doors slam shut with ridiculous force, enough to wake up the whole floor. The rooms have no soundproofing at all: you can hear absolutely everything from the corridor, and the windows aren’t soundproof either, so getting any rest with street noise is nearly impossible.

The bathroom is poorly designed and not functional. It lacks proper ventilation. Steam builds up completely after a shower, and using the toilet without a decent extractor fan makes the experience even worse... But the worst part: the sofa bed didn’t have any kind of mattress protector or cover. Absolutely disgusting, not fit to sleep on.

I’m giving one star only because of the staff and the decent breakfast. Other than that, it really falls short.

The location is fantastic, on the high street with so many restaurants and shops on its doorstep. Our room was comfortable bug enough for 3 adults. The only thing I would say is the sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable, you could feel the springs as you turned. And alsi recommend changing the kettles from metal to plastic as my roommate burned herself using it.

Clean & very comfy beds. The complimentary toiletries smelt divine. The breakfast was outstanding, excellent choices. The coffee was a bit weak though. Local area very accessible with numerous dining options. Discounted parking right next door. Not the hotels fault but workmen decided to do some work right outside at 23.30 & had their van running for over 45mins so disturbed me a bit, just unlucky I guess. Would definitely stay again - thank you.

I have no issue with the hotel. I do however have an issue with hotels.com not understanding what a VAT receipt is. They gave me a number to contact and this number asks for an itinerary number, as soon as you enter that number, it's not recognised. Even the hotel itself doesn't recommend I use your app to book my stay with them. Very very disappointed with the service from hotels.com

Definitely not somewhere for families to stay. Its in the centre of the town so lots of restaurants and bars around within walking distance. Very noisy into the early hours of the morning so we struggled to sleep due to the noise from people outside and those staying in the hotel. In hindsight not a location for families to stay with children. Much more for people looking for a good night out like the other patrons of the hotel.

Busy and not the best Holiday Inn Express.

Overall the stay was pleasant. Room was clean but the towels felt like sand paper and one hand towel had a hole in it. Breakfast was chaotic and they couldn’t meet the constant demand for clean plates and cutlery. Lack of choice of breakfast juice as only orange or water available. Also the tv in the bedroom did not function properly which was either a signal issue or the tv on its way out.

Basic hotel at exp above price

The hotel was very basic. Small room size, no Aircon. It’s not value for money at these prices.
The staff except for a few seemed like interns who were doing this for first time
Breakfast was basic and they wind down by 930 which is very odd in a small town like this - the staff was not pleased to wait even 5 minutes on breakfast despite the request
Lots of dogs and one guest took food from the breakfast in the hotel plates to feed his dog no one from the hotel noticed and only took action after we pointed it out

Good location and friendly staff. We visited when it was hot and the aircon doesn't work in any of the rooms. Apparently it is due to be replaced later in the year and in the meantime can only be used as a fan. The owners of this hotel need to maintain it properly and not put their staff in the awkward position of dealing with hot guests!

Our room reeked of human excrement

The smell was awful. Eventually at midnight after repeated attempts we were moved to another room but it was hardly a massive effort to accommodate us in a timely fashion. We asked for the manager to contact us to discuss our disappointment but he/ she didn’t make the effort.

Excellent Service - Would Highly Recommend

Having had a really poor experience of a Holiday Inn in the past, I was anxious about staying here.

I have to say that I had a fantastic stay! Firstly, I would like to commend Callum for all his support from helping me book taxi's, offering me a late check out, to giving me water, lemon and ice when I was so poorly. I would also like to say thank you to Reception for holding on to my card and the kitchen staff for preparing vegan sausages when breakfast was almost over.

I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn based on the lovely staff who work there, who do everything they can to ensure you have the best stay.

There are a few things that the Hotel itself needs to work on, including adding a chain to the door, changing the carpets and changing the doors so they close quietly as they woke me everytime someone entered or left their room. This is something to be aware of if you are a light sleeper.

Other than that, I would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again, if I was in Cheltenham.

A short one night stay as we attended an event locally. Staff friendly, room was perfect for our stay. Great night sleep, bed is very comfortable. Lovely shower and used the complimentary body wash. Breakfast was great, something for everyone. And loved the option of being able to take away a coffee as we’re in a bit of a rush.

Great selection of breakfast and friendly staff. Only issue was that my rooms air conditioning blown warm air out when set to cold and the paint on the walls needs addressing as it is all chipped. Staff did provide a fan, as the room was 25 degrees at one point.
