The Junior Suite was spacious with a mattress that's the perfect balance of firm and soft. Ample wardrobe space and a generous supply of hangers. The TV supports screen mirroring, and the bathroom is bright and spotless with premium toiletries.The breakfast was top-notch. Hot Chocolate is incredibly rich and intense. The made-to-order breakfast menu is exquisite, offering an extensive selection of dishes. The Spa was clean, spacious, and relaxing.

Anantara is a luxury hotel situated in a historic building, with a gorgeous lobby and interior, beautiful and luxury spa area, serving breakfast at the stunning New York cafe. It is a joy and excitement to be there and experience the property.

On the other hand, I felt the price to be a little too high taking in mind that our bedroom (for which we paid premium) needed updates and had chipping on the walls and shower. The drinks in the lobby were also way above for what we paid in other luxury locations in the city.

I celebrated my birthday on one of the nights and it was strange to see that hotel did not acknowledge that. Typically, flowers, chocolate or discount code for facilities--that is a small gesture that luxury hotels do, but in our case there was no recognition/initiative from the hotel.

It was easy for me to compare, because on two prior nights we stayed at Matild place and, while having very similar pricing, the comfort of the room and attention to the service level by hotel staff, were at different levels.

The breakfast room itself was amazing (part of the NY cafe) but boy it was SLOW - 10-15min wait for an omelette and up to 25min wait for coffee. Stuff often cold on arrival. Stayed Tues-Sat and it was like this every day! And nobody was really that bothered if you complained

We recently stayed at the Anantara New York Palace Hotel in Budapest for my husband’s birthday celebrations and to enjoy the Christmas markets. We had an absolutely wonderful three-night stay and I’m happy to give them a full five stars.

The hotel itself is beautifully designed with a cozy, warming interior that made us feel right at home. Every member of the staff was incredibly friendly, supportive, and helpful, which really added to the experience. One of the biggest perks was being able to visit the famous New York Café right there in the hotel without having to queue up.

We didn’t get a chance to use the pool and spa area, so I can’t comment on that, but our room was perfect for us - spacious and comfortable. The location is also fantastic, with so many places to visit within a short walk, so we could enjoy the beautiful views and local sights just by strolling around.

Overall, it was a memorable stay and we’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Budapest.

The room was nice. The staff is what let down the place. One day I sat in the lobby for more than an hour, not one person came in to ask if I needed food or drinks. We put do not disturb on the door, yet at 5am housekeeping was ringing the bell. Totally baffled by that. Do not disturb means do not disturb. On the day we were checking out bell boy helped get the suitcase out but then just left us on the street. I had tips in my pocket ready to go but seeing we had to load our own suitcases into the taxi, and he wasn’t anywhere to be seen, he really did miss out on making some tip. New York cafe is over rated. Very expensive and value wasn’t there. But overall, staff is what let down this place.

I had high expectations for this property, but our stay was disappointing. At check-in, I was told no upgrades were available despite my status and online availability showing otherwise. The first room had a broken bathtub covered with a towel, a barely functioning shower, and non-working air conditioning. After reporting these issues, we were moved to an “upgraded” room, which unfortunately was also substandard, with dusty carpet, cobwebs, mismatched faucet knobs, and an entirely obstructed window view due to a plywood panel. In both rooms, the air conditioning did not work even when the heat was turned down to the lowest setting. We had to open the windows and let the cold winter air in for comfort.

I want to acknowledge that the front desk supervisor did her best to improve our experience, and I genuinely appreciated her effort. However, the restaurant service further diminished our stay. Our servers displayed noticeable attitude and did not seem interested in providing attentive or welcoming service.

Overall, the experience fell far below the standards expected of a luxury hotel.

The hotel and the adjacent New York Cafe were architecturally magnificent! The room and spa amenities were top notch. The staff members were all helpful. The location was convenient and walkable to restaurants and landmarks. Only negative comment is that the elevators needed a sweep on a regular basis. Getting our breakfast orders were slow at times. . Otherwise, everything was great. We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights prior to boarding our river cruise. This hotel is very beautiful. Our room was clean,spacious and very comfortable. The evening turndown was unexpected😁. We had breakfast in the breakfast room. Don't ask me what I had - I was too busy taking in the most beautiful baroque architecture and decorations!

The only negative was that we waited for over 10 minutes in the rather quiet sitting area for a waiter to take our drinks order and ended up walking out. A waiter came through a number of times but never saw us when we waved.

My experience with the staff was exceptional. When i encountered an issue with a transfer service they went out of their way to help - in particular Mate. Without their assistance i would have been stranded in Budapest and would have missed my commitments later that day. The room was very spacious, i loved the turndown service and welcome gift.

I booked this particular hotel for ease of access to the New York Cafe and because previous stays at Anantara properties have been great. Sadly, this property does not live up to the Anantara name. We registered our details early (ID, credit card) but at 1500 the person who was then on the desk was unable to find us a room then the correct bed configuration. Our balcony was not the old stone style as pictured, instead it was littered with old cigarette butts in the gutter, hardly 5 star. To be fair, the girl who did the initial registration did offer to change our room, we declined as we’d unpacked, but it was nice of her. In the evening we requested ice. 1 hour and 2 calls later, we went to the bar to get ice and upon returning to the room, room service called to apologise to say the ice machine was broken. Really? Don’t lie to cover up incompetence. The bell boys were exceptional. NY cafe is overrated, terrible service and mediocre food. Perhaps I expect too much as my last stay in BUD was at the Gresham Palace, but I thought I could rely on the Anantara brand. Having said that, the bed was heavenly.

Looks Better in Photos Than in Person

I recently stayed at Anantara Budapest and found it didn’t quite meet expectations. The hotel looks beautiful in pictures, but the reality was less impressive. Check-in staff were not very friendly, and our room was disappointing — noisy, facing a dull courtyard, and the curtain was worn with holes. We couldn’t change rooms despite asking.

The bathroom was spacious but took a while to get hot water. Staff noise in the mornings made sleeping in difficult. On the plus side, the hotel shares a building with the New York Café, which is very convenient, and the lobby is truly lovely. Overall, it has charm, but I expected better.

The interior of the hotel is gorgeous. The location is terrible and the entrance during the day is blocked by line ups of people waiting to enter the New York Caffe. More importantly is the terrible customer service and lack of response from their front desk. Although, we booked and fully paid for our stay in the hotel through hotels.com, at the time of check out the front desk made us pay an extra fee for city taxes which we didn’t know about. We were rushing to catch our ride, therefore we paid the additional charge and asked for a receipt so we can review the legitimacy of the charge. Front desk informed us that they will email us the receipt. They never did. We emailed the hotel two days ago requesting copy of our receipt but we did not receive any response yet. Too bad how customer service could ruin the experience of such a lovely hotel!

Our stay at this hotel was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had in Budapest. The seamless connection to the iconic New York Café creates a stunning and memorable atmosphere, with the lobby and shared spaces offering a uniquely elegant and breathtaking setting.

Throughout our stay, we had the pleasure of enjoying the hotel’s bar, restaurant, New York Café, gym, and spa - all of which were exceptional. The service was impeccable, and the ambiance in every area was refined and welcoming. The only minor inconvenience during an otherwise perfect stay was that the sauna was out of order during the entire stay.

The room itself was incredibly spacious, featuring a fantastic balcony - undoubtedly one of the finest rooms I’ve stayed in while visiting Budapest. The reception staff were genuinely warm and accommodating, making the entire experience feel personalized. Thoughtful touches, such as in-room champagne, occasional fresh fruit, a complimentary minibar, and a room upgrade, added to the luxurious, five-star experience and made our stay truly unforgettable.

Without a doubt, this hotel is now one of my top choices whenever I visit Budapest. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

The hotel is best known for the ceilings in the restaurant which are beautiful. The entire stay there were long queues of people surrounding the hotel, waiting to eat in the restaurant, which was not bad but also not amazing. The hotel has the original building which is elaborate and older while my room was in a separate building which was newer. The room was nice and had good lighting and mood. However I couldn't get any heat so it was kind of cold the entire time which was not pleasant. It was Christmas so service was slower due to high demand but the hotel should make provisions for that. Overall, a nice property but seems to focus too much on business from the famous dining room ceilings to the detriment of hotel guests which seem more like an afterthought.

Loved everything about our stay here. Was traveling solo with my son pulled my back carrying luggage they upgraded us go a suite and even helped me get some ibuprofen for my back. They catered to our needs for food for my son and gave the best toiletries, lip balm, wooden brush, etc the spa is heaven best facial of my life. The cafe is some of the best food I’ve ever had and ambience even better. The lobby is magical. Perfection.

I have never stayed in a hotel with such accommodating staff. They truly went above and beyond from the bellhops to reception to the waitstaff in the bar. The attached restaurant is a busy tourist attraction, but hotel guests were welcomed immediately.

No walk in shower. The tub is a death trap. Slick as ice and big step Down to slick as ice floor. Eventually noticed a plastic step under cabinet I presume for this. Had outdoor terrace which was great to enjoy cigar on. Bed a little hard. Great breakfast and beautiful hotel. Staff were amazing!

Beautiful hotel with some access issues

Beautiful hotel with nicely decorated rooms and well located in Budapest. Staff is courteous overall but some of the cleaning support staff can be rather abrupt with their knocking at 8AM – my mistake for not putting up the DND sign. Restaurant staff is also helpful, but I wish it had elevator access for people with mobility issues.

New York Palace Hotel

This is an exceptional hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the property is stunning. I would definitely stay here again.
