The rooms under delivered when you look at the charges. Very basic facilities like hot water kettle are not provided.

Room climate control has basic limitations. The entire hotel works either in cool mode or hot mode. So even if it's not very cold, you have to suffer a hot room.

It should not be classified as a hotel per se- it’s just a room with bathroom facilities and an open place to hang clothes. No tea/coffee maker, only 2 plastic glasses in the room.

Lovely room, the balcony is a great addition. Very comfortable! Check-in was efficient and to my delight I was able to get into my room sooner than expected. Staff were very friendly and informative. Location is very central and easy to get around. I'd highly recommend the hotel but I unfortunately did not rate the restaurant. My food was undercooked, I was charged with a very small discount for a meal I did not eat, it was disappointing as the hotel is fantastic.

Great Budget Option Near Plaza Mayor

Let's start right off by admitting that this isn't the Four Seasons; there's a sex shop literally right outside the front door. If you're considering Chic & Basic Dot, it's because you're looking for a budget-conscious option right by Plaza Mayor. And you've found it!

As the name states, this is a basic place. A small room, but quiet and with a comfortable bed, friendly staff, quick wifi, and it's a 2 minute walk to eithe Plaza Mayor or Gran Via.

Would I pay more than $175/nt? Probably not. But when I priced this out vs all the other options in the area, it was a no-brainer at $140/nt and I enjoyed my 3 night stay here. Easy access to Alfonso Barajas airport on metro/renfe.

Our room had a spacious balcony (5th flloor) which made the room feel bigger. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and roomy.
The hotel is located very centrally in Madrid with most major points of interest within easy walking distance. The hotel is not very fancy as the name implies and breakfast is in the restaurant next door. On the downside most of the restaurants in the area seem targeted at tourists and can be on the priciery side with lots of fried food offerings. Seemed hard to get a healthy meal.

Kindest Staff in Madrid

Incredible staff. We arrived in time for the power outage and not only did the hotel staff stay late and ensure we were taken care of, but when we asked if the knew where we could find food, the gentleman at the front desk replied, \"Right now places are only accepting cash. All I have is a banana and it is yours if you would like it.\" The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, the room and location was great and we would happily stay here again.

The hotel we booked initially decided to cancel on us the last day before our trip to Europe. We didn’t have time to research and just booked this hotel for two nights. The hotel is clean but the rooms are on the small side. The stuff is very friendly. Consider this hotel to only spend a night while the rest of the day exploring the city. There is no hall or any place to rest while waiting for the room. We were the unfortunate couple who checked out from the hotel right before the block out in Spain. We couldn’t take a train to go to another city and return to the hotel only to find a nervous stuff with no computers available, no rooms, no help. Luckily we have found another hotel down the street that had a generator, computers working, and rooms available. You can code this hotel to stay a night or two. It’s clean and in the heart of the city. But if anything goes wrong, you might end up on the street. They are not accommodating. They simply don’t have any ability.

The property is small and the lighting in the bathroom is almost nonexistent. It was so hard to see in the room as well. The table next to the bed is only big enough for your phone. The staff was very nice and ready to help out with any requests. The property includes a breakfast from a connected cafe. The cafe has some really strange food and I was still hungry even after eating there.
