The staff was friendly and helpful, but the condition of the room was not great; the towel rack had broken with one side hanging and the towels had been placed neatly in the bathtub, so it was clear someone had seen it and not done anything. Plus the sliding bathroom door leaves a big gap when closed, so not full privacy. The bed was comfortable though, it’s just lacking in the details.

We had a great run. Breakfast hours were great. The hotel staff was amazing. A whole bus load of people walked in the door right before we did. Apparently it was a group. They had them sorted within minutes and I don’t think we waited to get checked in more than a minute or two. The young lady was very nice and accommodating.

Later, I had some business with my lawyer they graciously provided with an email to send the file. They printed it up for me to sign and scanned it for me and sent it back to the lawyer within a matter of minutes. I would add that this is the same young lady that checked us in. She was amazing. She could almost anticipate what you needed and was ready to provide a cheerfully graciously and quickly. She was above and beyond. The best interaction I’ve ever had, and I’ve had many good ones.

The room temperature was at 18C degrees. a poster of the mandatory reduction on the temperature was posted in the elevators, we have stayed in other hotels in Madrid the last 3 months (2 other), never seen the guest have to suffer cold as in this place, is a misfortune, as the hotel was nice for our purpose we need it.

Lovely hotel and lovely staff. Rooms were basic but had what was needed for a weekend city break. The hotel was a way out. Cheaper option of €1.50 per trip was a 45 min bus trip into the city which was picked up right outside the hotel and dropped off round the corner. Uber was only 20 mins if that and was around €14. Quiet area with a few cafes and restaurants dotted around but you did need to go into the city further for more of an atmosphere. Only downfall was there wasn’t any water or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Could have also benefited from having the mini bar fridge stocked. Ideal for us as we were first timers to Madrid and was nice to get away from the hustle and the bustle. Great value as well.

Very nice place to stay. A bit expensive but the rates in Madrid are so high that I guess it is in line with other hotels. The evening meal was great and superb value. Wonderful service from the barman there.

Great hotel, not much around

Hotel has huge, comfy beds and well-appointed rooms. However, the A/C wouldn't go below 24 or 23 C, so the room was a bit toasty all night.

Not much within easy walking distance, but plenty of places to eat and drink 20-30 min walk away. Would stay there again when heading to the airport the next day.

Convenient location for the business park and train station nearby ~10 mins walk which goes to the airport. Restaurant and cinema complex nearby ~5 mins walk.

Only problem I had this time was traffic noise from the street. Last time had no issue, so depends on which way the room is facing. Very clean, very nice friendly and professional staff. Would recommend.

Lovely place. A little in the middle of nowhere. All the best places are center of town and this is a 15 minute Cab journey from the center. No tea or coffee facilities in the room - must for a tea drinking Brit! Useless iron board too! Staff are really accommodating. Breakfast is truelyu awesome!

The hotel is superb. Rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are huge. I stayed in a superior room.

It's s very nice hotel but not a good location

We chose this hotel because it's \"close\" to the stadium Santiago Bernabéu, which it is but you can't walk to it... you need to take a cab. It's not even near to Madrid, it only has a bus stop outside, and it is in like an industrial zone, I think it would be a good hotel for business people but not for tourists. Overall, everything else is very good.

The hotel is very good. Service is friendly and all is clean. The offer in the restaurant is limited but the food I tried tasted well. The drawback is the surrounding area, basically only offices. Not really anything to do. However, there is a metro/train station only minutes away and going there will take you to town. A taxi ride to the Sol is around 25-30€ and take you 25-30 min.

Excellent location near family home!

Love the place, second year in a row that I visit Castellana Norte. This year going in Spring I encountered a problem with the room temperature. The air conditioning needs to be improved and controlled from the guest's room. Staff is excellent, they really tried to help and accommodate us. Sofia in the dining room is a dear!
She remembered us from our trip last year.

I often go in a business trip to Madrid and I stayed in the hotel 3 times. This is near the offices. Hotel is the best of the area. I
recommend to book this. The hotel looks very new and the room are large and clean and modern. The price cheaper then the other hotels at the same level and 1000000 better.

From entering the door the staff was excellent. They made us feel welcome . Our luggage did not arrive the first day but they notified us as soon as it arrived the next day.They were great with information on the different forms of public transportation. We will be back next year and I will most definitely stay there. I hope the staff dosen't change.

A hotel worth recommending

Well away from central Madrid, air is slightly cooler and surrounding quieter. Had tried the Cairo Barcelona and I can say hand to heart that this is one chain of hotels that live up to their good reputation. Very clean and ultra modern. Really enjoyed my weekend stay. Will surely recommend.

There are certain things you wish would be included in the price but they are not. The rooms are great though, very modern and clean, with personal AC. The walk from the closest metro is quite a walk but if you are elderly or handicap you can jump on the bus and it will take you to the hotel's doorstep.

Easy access to Madrid airport; clean; weird decor

Rooms are clean, big. Weird color schemes and wall art, but to each his own I guess. Not a good location for touristy things; we were there on Easter weekend and area was ghost town on Saturday, and I think that goes for most weekends - it's more of a business area. However, for easy access to airport (it was our last night in Madrid), it's a nice, clean, modern hotel.

Only improvement: move hotel towards City Center

I highly recommend this hotel. It was my final stay after 6 weeks in Europe, having passed through 12 countries, and it was the best of all the places I stayed (and, amazingly, the cheapest, too!!!): the building itself is plain from the outside, but boasts an interior that is modern and very clean. Rooms are large by European standards, as are the bathrooms (& the beds enormous); rooms are tastefully decorated and offer a kind of elegant simplicity. The staff is very professional, immediately responsive, and helpful. Wireless internet is not available, but wired internet is & the hotel provides you with the necessary cable for in-room access.

Although the surrounding area is not noteworthy—half neighborhood, half suburban business area—and the hotel isn't near the city center, there is a bus stop right outside the front door, as well as two metro stations within a pleasant 10 minute walk. From the hotel you can catch one bus that will take you all the way to Plaza del Sol in the city center & allow you to see a bit of Madrid; or hop on the metro and get there about as fast, with a change of trains or two. If you're coming from or going to the airport, Barcelo is unbeatable for location as it is just down the street from the train, which takes you to the airport non-stop.

3rd time was not a charm!!

This is my 3rd time staying at this hotel. The first 2 visits were great----no real problems. This time the AC did not work and it was hot outside and inside the room. The person on duty at the front desk told us that he would turn down the AC from the main switch but it would take awhile to cool off. Never cooled off. Then he wanted to move us to another room that was hotter than the first room and was blowing warm air. They should also have an optional summer blanket as the comforter is a synthetic heavy comforter that is only suitable for winter or a room with cold AC. We asked for a separate sheet to cover ourselves. Other than these 2 problems, the hotel is very nice and very close to the airport which is nice for those early flights out. I would still reccommend this hotel as it is nice and clean, easy in and easy out and a great value for the money---as long as they fix the AC which was not a problem 2 weeks ago when we stayed there.

It was not what I expected.....

The staff was wonderful. Very helpful and well mannered. However, as a vacation spot I can't recommend this hotel. It lies in front of the commercial district. There is no parking only roughly eight spots and it is costly. This hotel is okay for corporate gatherings and business meetings, but definitely not for a vacationer coming from outside Spain.....

Barcelo Castellana Norte in Madrid

Were a little worried on arrival as site is quite far removed from city centre, and looked more like an industrial site than residential / accommodation area. However a very good local bus service leaves from in front of the hotel and goes straight to the centre of town.
Presentation, furnishings, and staff very good. Decor was fresh and a little edgy. Price was half that of comparible star rated hotel and was very good value for money.

Not a hotel for the leisure traveller

The hotel is a typical hotel, I'd say the claim that it is 4 star is stretching it by 1 star. It takes around 1 hour from leaving the hotel to get into the centre of town using the Metro system, so my advice is to book a hotel in a more central location if you are here for a weekend of leisure. Oh, and make sure you check your bill; somebody used our room number to sign for their €65 restaurant spend! The reception staff knocked this off with no problem, so no harm done.

location was not central, but hotel was clean and comfortable and staff was courteous and helpful. No kettle in room for coffee, but had mini fridge, and cyber corner had a laptop available for use. As I was out during working hours anyway, hotel was quiet and peaceful to come back to. Excellent value, and located fairly close to metro. Would come back if that particular trip could afford the time travelling on metro through Madrid center.

Excellent value/price place to stay in Madrid

Modern, immaculately clean, bright, comfortable hotel in the Northern part of Madrid. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The nearest subway station is a 7-minute walk away, and from there it's another half an hour by train to Puerta del Sol- Downtown Madrid. I am very picky about hotels, and this one exceeded my expectations for the price I paid.
