My biggest issue with the place was that neither the listing on Expedia nor the hotel’s website made it clear that there was 1 shared bathroom for all the guests. This should be advertised in BOLD. That bathroom was FILTHY- dirty toilet, hair and dirt everywhere. My sheets were also dirty- hair and crumbs. The best thing I can say for this hotel is that the host was very friendly and helpful.

The issues that we encountered were dirty floors and filthy rug , dirty bathroom and no toilet paper. Sharing one bathroom with six other rooms,each room containing up to four people and some with animals. It appeared to me that some people live there permanently .We had Dirty marks on our pillowcases .The back wall of our room was damp and discolored also the ceiling was peeling and looked like it was about to fall down.The heater control unit was a knob hanging from the heater by a wire, which is very dangerous. The door code didn’t always work. The breakfast was novel to say the least and was short on what was ordered. We had one towel between two and that wasn’t clean so we didn’t use it .
As for the dead hanging plant that sums it up!!!!
My wife has asthma and has allergies and this was not a good environment for her. Expedia told us to report this to the front desk and we told them that there wasn't any. We have since discovered that Expedia have known about this hostel for years and have chosen to ignore the same Problems which date back to at least three years. Why is this dump allowed to accept guests through Expedia and steal people’s money???
I think this is a sick joke Expedia asking what the problems were, when they have had reviews for exactly the same things we endured. The hostel refused us a refund and Expedia are still advertising their lies.

Code for entry never arrived. Left outside accomodation. No one answered phone calls, text, or emails on contact details. Let in be another guest then found room wasn't even ready five hours after check in time no apology and tried to blame me for not filling online form out which I had done as soon as I received it

We truly regretted not reading the reviews beforehand. This is a complete scam. The building is run-down, with no visible signage. We were asked to pay a second time even though we had already paid in advance. To this day, we are still waiting for a refund. They even send information as if we had stayed there. DO NOT GO THERE!

I missed that it was a shared bathroom so my bad..but to share it with 5 other suites should have been noted. Plus the bathroom was unclean, no shampoo, or other amenities. The promised breakfast was wrong day one and never arrived day two. Bnb is supposed to be a charming experience, this was none of that.

The area around this property was so excellent, but it was the only redeeming quality. For the price of this property, I expected more cleanliness, especially in the bathroom (there was period blood on the floor and the shower was a little questionable) and for the floor in general. The staff never responded to my message with a question and I even called to try to get a hold of anyone. After a couple days I was sent an automatic reply with some information that answered my question.

The most upsetting part of this whole stay was the breakfast. This place advertises that breakfast is included but every day there was something missing from our order. First of all, we ordered two breakfasts (one for each of us) and we never got more than one. Secondly, there was always food missing from the one breakfast they gave us. At first it was like we were missing one egg. And then we were missing all the eggs. And then we weren’t given our apples. On the last day we literally only got bread. As young students who were relying on that meal to cut down on our travel cost this is unacceptable.

When we contacted the property they were apologetic and said they would fix it (they have a third party providing the food), I was hopefully. But we got even less the next morning.

We just wanted them to meet the bare minimum of what they advertised. Breakfast and good service. And this did not happen.

Very Disappointing Stay Despite the Great Location

This place has so much potential, especially given that it’s in a fantastic neighbourhood - but unfortunately, there’s a serious lack of effort from the hosts. For the price we paid, the experience was extremely underwhelming.

It was advertised as a bed and breakfast, but it’s not. You’re given uncooked food and expected to prepare it yourself - using dirty utensils and in an unclean kitchen. To make things worse, some of the food provided was clearly expired, which is completely unacceptable.

Very sad to leave such a negative review, but I hope this helps others manage their expectations.

Location is amazing! Bed was comfortable. Staff was accomodating and nice. There is no staff on site, and we needed more guidance than was provided via email or in person about how to enter and that the kitchen was upstairs etc. If looking for a hostel like situation, this place is great :)

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally request a refund for my recent booking at your hotel. Unfortunately, upon arrival, I found the room in unacceptable condition — it was extremely dirty and clearly not properly cleaned or maintained.

Due to the poor hygiene and overall state of the room, I decided not to stay. I believe this level of service is a sign of disrespect to your guests, and I was very disappointed by the experience.

I was disappointed in the overall condition of the place, considering I paid $170/night (through Expedia). My room was clean and \"nice\" enough (sort of shabby chic, but a bit too heavy on the shabby), but the bathrooms were dirty and the two communal back decks had dead plants and bits of garbage and debris. On my last day, both bathrooms were completely out of toilet paper. I texted the property and they replied right away. They sent over some tp within 60 minutes. But...honestly...that should not happen. Running out of coffee is one thing, but realizing there is no TP while you are sitting on the toilet is a whole other ballgame. To summarize, I would describe this B & B as \"passable\" but with a neglected vibe. If they put a little bit of money and effort into smoothing out the rough edges and doing a few cosmetic improvements, as well as enhancing their overall \"organizational flow\", it would make a huge difference, because the place has a lot of potential.

- This is actually a hostel with a shared bathroom between multiple bedrooms.
- The lock code was never given to our bedroom but we guessed and it actually was the same code as the main door, so thats not safe at all if all the bedrooms have the same lock code!
- There were no towels in our room we had to ask for one and an hour later someone came and dropped them off.
- The \"free breakfast\" is a choice of plain bread, peanut butter, jelly, an uncooked egg or uncooked bacon you are meant to cook yourself in their shared kitchen. And then once you select it they bring it to the shared kitchen fridge in a brown paper bag for you. It's like a sad version of DoorDash. No milk for the coffees
- No soap in the shower for the shared bathroom. Just one random Costco shampoo and nothing else. Literally. I had to go out and buy a bar of soap just to use the shower.
- No AC, and no screens on the windows so if you are traveling with a pet and want to keep the window open to get some fresh air into the place, you have to limit how wide the window is to keep your pet safe.
- The beds had no bedside table so you literally have to put your water glass or phone or whatever else you like to have near you when you sleep, on the floor.
- Overall this place has potential if it actually added the basic amenities you would expect. Instead of their sad breakfast offering they should just go get basic simple breakfast and put it in the kitchen.

There is no AC. The room was VERY HOT, there was a fan in our room but it didn’t cool things down, just moved the hot air around. Be advised that the listing mentions heating and Fans, when you follow the check in process, they advertise AC is available. No AC is given. In the room I stayed in it had a window but no screen so bugs could come in, and it was right next to the terrace area so people could reach into the room through the bars.

The photos in this listing do not match the actual spaces either. It is a very old building and not modern looking at all.

There is also no front desk, which was advertised, it is self check in through the cloudbeds portal which wasn’t clear in the listing either.

We arrived at night and there was plenty of parking, had no issues here through out our stay.

Be advised this is more of a hostile, with a shared bathroom than it is a hotel with a private room and bathroom. It worked for us for a few nights but definitely wasn’t ideal especially since the listing is misleading, which was disappointing.

Extrêmement difficile de parler à quelqu'un et de faire la réservation. B&B où il faut pré-commander le déjeuner avant 23h la veille sinon, comme dans mon cas, pas de déjeuner. Très sale, pas d'air conditionné alors qu'il fait plus de 30°C! Pas d'eau, pas de mouchoirs. Salle de bain partagée avec 5 ou 6 autres chambres. Le matin quand je me suis levée, impossible d'aller aux toilettes car il y avait quelqu'un dans la douche! J'ai dû aller aux toilettes au restaurant d'à-côté....

Terrible. Called about parkig since parking was terribly hard to find. They told me its free overnight after 9pm on the street, found a spot, wake up to a parking ticket in the morning. Called them in the moring to tell them to remind customers where ro park and they said to only park on a certain side of the road. Failed to mention many things and terrible communication. Terribly hot and discustingly old in the hostel too. Don't recommend AT ALL

The key issue with this establishment is the huge gap between its online presence and its actual situation.

For starters, the name \"La Maison du Mile-End is nowhere to be seen. On the door it says \"Bernard B&B.\"

After booking, I spoke with someone at the establishment who assured me that I would not need a smartphone to check in. As requested I called in again the day before we left when I was again assured that someone would be there mid-morning.

Later that day I received an email with a link to a portal. It enabled me to order breakfast.

When we arrived as planned, we could not access the premises as it required a code. We were not given a code and there was no mention of a code during our two telephone conversations. After much effort and help from a stranger, finally someone showed up who accepted our luggage for safekeeping. We said we would be back around 8 pm and were assured that someone would be there -- we just had to ring the doorbell. Again, no mention of a code.

Upon arrival in the evening, after endless ringing of the doorbell, someone showed up from outside. When I vented my frustration, he said I better stop talking or he would walk away and not help us; I said not another word.

This comment has a 1500-word limit. I have much more to say and will find another way to continue.

Bottom line: This establishment should be banned from Expedia's list. It does not deserve to be in business.

I thought by booking the cheapest stay, I was acting smartly only to find out that I `ve ended paying more than if I booked for 5 star hotel. Por service, poor communication, expensive Tax while expedia was advertising free shuttle. Not to count pressures to check in before 12 AM, when I just booked 30 minutes before.

This is more of an hostel than a typical b&b. It is in a good location, and was adequately clean and comfortable, if very basic. But all communication is via text or email, and the proprietors do not respond quickly. We never met any staff. They are relying on information on their website, but the site is not easy to navigate. The arrival procedure was not explained in advance, and was complicated. We ended up standing outside the building in a cold rain for way too long. The price quoted on Expedia as being all inclusive:$74 per night, did not include everything. The actual price with taxes etc was $90 per night.

No air conditioning to be mentioned! The first room they gave us has not windows. They supposed to bring 2 breakfasts and only one came, after we ordered it. The bathroom was disgusting and you have to share with everybody. The refrigerator has a big pan with moldy food.
I will never use Expedia!

Unfortunately all the bad things I have since read about the property are too. Located in an ojay neighbourhood but absolutely no parking in the vicinity. Not A/C on one of the hot nights. Sharing a not too clean bathroom. The second floor access was difficult and the breakfast was limited and we were to prepare it. Just not a good bnb experience.

Everything was booked and confirmed, we drove 7-8h only to get there and have to call the host only to tell us that our reservation was not active/reserved and he already gave the unit away to someone else. No warning or heads up at all. Had to scramble last minute for accommodations in one of the busiest weekends in Montreal. Totally screwed up our plans

The place is crawling with all sorts of bugs. My room had items in the drawers such as dirty paintbrushes, used colouring books, broken kids toys. The bed sheets seemed like they weren't washed. My room didn't have a key to lock it from the other tenants. All the floors and beds were creaky. The area around is horrible and seems unsafe with constant police car alarms heard in the background. Throughout the night you can hear drunk people screaming under the window. The breakfast is literally just a cereal dispenser. The owner is rude and unhelpful. When I asked him about the key to lock the room he ignored my message. I know its the cheapest place in the area but even but with those conditions it seems overpriced.

Really nice and cozy. I had read about heat issues but I can confirm that it was nice and warm in my room. Very impressed for the price. I mean if your respectful and are aware of others, kitchen (fully equip) & bathroom are shared not a bad thing if everyone does there share it’s an awesome place to stay. I had no issues and if you need anything you just text admin and they get back to you quickly. Lots of space in your room with a small fridge. No issues what so ever

Die Lage ist hervorragend, der Zustand der Unterkunft eher schlecht und absolut renovierungsbedürftig. Ein kleines Badezimmer für acht Gäste ist an sich zu wenig. Die Badewanne muss unbedingt ausgetauscht werden. Die Klimaanlage ist mit Panzertape abgedichtet, welches sich zum Teil gelöst hat, was jetzt alles nicht professionell ist. Haben das Gefühl, das wir nicht das Zimmer bekommen haben, welches wir gebucht haben.

Le logement était super. Sauf que vous n'avez pas fourni de moyen simple d'y accéder ; il faut appeler pour trouver une solution. Si nous ne pouvons pas appeler, ce serait catastrophique. Il faut simplifier les choses. Permettre au client de payer l'acompte comme il le souhaite, uniquement par carte de crédit c’est difficile pour ceux qui ont des urgences ou de moyens limités attendre longtemps. Sinon, tout s'est bien passé.
