Walking distance to some of Montréals best shops, Mount Royal, and of course Schwartzs deli. Thinner older doors let sound travel so keep that in mind as i saw complaints in other reviews. All in all it was my little home away from home for 2 days and i liked it

No heat other than a space heater in the room. Lobby was a mess. It was being painted, which could be understandable but there was no signage, warning or any measure at all. Worth spending a little more to find a better spot if you can.

Getting into the hotel, I felt like I was deceived by Expedia listing this as a hotel. It's just like a mere bread and breakfast (even though no breakfast was provided) type of accommodation. The condition of the room was terrible, and the elevator was very scary - each stop felt like a sudden drop from a height. A terrible smell was coming from the washroom when we arrived in the room. A lot was wrong with this place.

The entrance/hallways are not indicative of the rooms themselves (old and rundown) but the room itself was clean and updated it was an old rooming house I believe . Great air conditioning and decent space. Asked for and received a mini fridge and kettle. No room service or cleaning between nights unless you pay extra. Overall the location was perfect. Walking distance to many restaurants and the metro. Would stay again as price and location (and cleanliness) was sufficient.

The budling itself is obviously older and can seem \"sketchy\" to people at first glance but it is a nice hotel. When I entered the lobby there were some trash bags with what I assumed was sheets in the corner which caught me off guard but check in was very quick and the staff was very kind and informative! The elevator up to the room is also obviously old but is clean and functions well. The room that I booked was a 1 bedroom for me and a friend of mine. It was very clean and the bed had 0 stains, hair, or anything of concern and was pretty comfy! The bathroom was shockingly clean! I am very easily freaked out by hotel bathroom. So much so that even bathrooms at Best Westers or other higher quality hotels have grossed me out. This bathroom though was thoroughly cleaned and had nothing gross about it to me which is HUGE! The room and bathroom are very small in size and the doors are quite sticky but overall the experience was great! An easy 4/5 stars! (My friend had seen some horrible reviews of the place from 5-3 months before our stay and we were worried about the experience but we were pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel really stepped up their cleaning!!)

This appears to be a family business. The attendant is pleasant and informative. The common areas are dated, but the bedroom and bathroom were somewhat updated as pictured online. The beds were comfortable and the AC worked okay. There are tall ceilings and high windows similar to some hotels and residences in Paris. This hotel has a small elevator but I would not call it accessible because the bathroom door is very narrow. We remarked that it's fortunate we are petite or average sized. This hotel represented a tremendous value for its location within Montreal for the price. However, I cannot overlook the condition of the shower stall, at any price point. The grout and bottom of curtain were filthy with pink slime. Pink slime is not usually harmful, but it is gross to look at and fortunately treatable: \"Use a bathroom cleaner, a mixture of baking soda and dish soap, or a bleach solution to scrub away the pink slime.\" I think if the owners could attend to this, the establishment can be an excellent value and provide a comfortable stay to those without physical accessibility needs.

The property is in a mixed commercial and residential area, very near the Latin Quarter and a couple of metro stations. It was very clean and comfortable when we visited. I liked the ability to open the screen on the door that led to what I believe was a fire escape. I also opened the door, but then noticed the smaller screen so used that to avoid bugs. It also had a window a/c unit which we didn’t need during our stay. We paid quite a bit more for our room because it was the weekend of the Formula One Grand Prix race, but that's to be expected. The property was safe and offered what we needed. It had a nice sized refrigerator in the room, and I noticed a microwave near the front entrance of the hotel when we were leaving that would come in handy. The walls are somewhat thin so you can hear tones of conversations, but it wasn't obtrusive. We also heard creaking floors at times. We had great service from the front office!

The outside was run down and overgrown with shrubs. Garbage out front. Howl sign was partially working. Entry was not welcoming. Smelled like family cooking dinner. Room was fine, beds were basic, not enough blankets. Bathroom was very small and shower needed cleaning. Only 2 towels for 4 people. Overpriced for amenities for sure! Could have stayed in a chain for the same price and had more amenities and space. Location was good, neighborhood was nice and close to places we wanted to see.

Interesting old building. Excellent location. Bldg is old and a bit rough but the room was fairly clean. If you're looking for a great walkable location to sleep this is the place. Very basic amenities. I really enjoyed it here. Bring your own pillow, theirs are uncomfortable and also the bed is uncomfortable if you're older. If you're young then it's fine. Would absolutely stay here again

The hotel is located in a historic building, however it is in need of a lot of repairs and maintenance. Our room was small, and it had an IKEA double bed, which came apart three times due to loose wood. The artifacts and furniture in the room were dated, not very clean and many amenities were missing like extra towels, pillows, kleenex, blow drier, conditioner, cups, and an extra blanket. The bathroom had broken tiles, and no shelving space to place personal items. The staff were nice but the owners need to invest in making a nicer hotel given its potential.

There was a massive crack in the tile in the bathroom, the sink faucet sprayed off to the side and soaked the toilet, the toilet paper was the thinnest I have ever used, the door chain was broken so I didn't feel very safe. I booked a room with one bed and was given one with two and was told \"as long as you don't use the second bed you will be fine.\" And there was ants crawling in the corner. The man who checked me in gave me a bottle of water that tasted funny, and the man who checked me out the next day barely said a word to me.

The staff member who initially greeted us did appear confrontational at first, but warmed up when he realised we had made an advanced booking. The member of staff who served us the next day was very nice and allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel after check out, so we weren't carrying them around the city. When I arrived I was given a room where the door didn't lock and the room was very old so I went downstairs and asked to change rooms and they gave me another room that was cleaner and had new windows. On the first two nights there was a lot of noise coming from the upstairs bedroom, people would drop heavy things in the middle of the night and the floor made a lot of noise and the person in the upstairs bedroom would always go to the bathroom all night walking like a elephant. In addition there was a couple fighting that happened on the second day in the early hours of the morning. My advice is, pay a little more and get more comfort and a noise-free room.

There is NOTHING to like about this hotel. Staff inconsiderate and less than human. We along with a large Spanish family with small children and babies were forced to wait outside in frigid temperatures before this 'person' would allow us to enter the hotel at the time of his choosing. Then the room was dirty and cold with a portable heater that did not work. I have stayed in 3rd world places that were far superior in cleanliness and amenities.... at least they had soap and toilet paper....NEVER enter this place again.... should be pulled from the Expedia site.... this hotel tarnishes your reputation...... AMEN!

I walked here in daylight but wouldn't do so at night. Very convenient for Uber. Didn't have a VISA so had to pay cash for a deposit... Wouldn't take a MasterCard? Room had no amenities other than a TV (including no coffee/tea). Also.... No shower curtain? So the floor gets wet and only a bottle of 3-in-1. It was a good price but didn't hit the mark for me

I needed an affordable room for a short trip in Montreal, somewhere to shower and sleep well. It's exactly what I got, along with courteous interactions with the staff. It's obviously not a luxury hotel but that's not what I wanted/needed.

The property was not properly maintained. It was not cleaned properly, it seemed that the bed sheets were not changed after the previous occupant left. The carpet had a foul odor and there was a mouse in our room. I would not recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay, the owner gave 3 choices as to which room I wanted and I chose the one with balcony for no extra cost. They even had great recommendations for restaurants and convenience stores. The Ubers were able to find the location very easily. All in all of you don't mind the tiny bathroom you'll enjoy your time here.

I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone- it’s not worth your health and safety. I had read the mixed reviews but once you see it in person, it’s unbelievable. I tried to cancel it and get my money back but hotel.com said they couldn’t and that I had to deal with the management. We were moved to another room but then I found a bedbug- that was it for me. We were only using this hotel for sleeping/showering as our aunt and uncle live a few blocks away. I’m very glad that’s all we used it for.
When we got into the room we noticed it was very small and very dirty. There was soap scum on the shower and sink, the window air conditioner was duct taped up, the curtain was falling off of the rod, the sheets and floor were dirty (our baby’s toy fell under the bed and it was so full of dirt and dust!), and everything was run down. It smelled like smoke in the room and in the halls and one of the floors smelled like cat pee.
Our bathroom door couldn’t even shut all the way and latch and one double bed seemed to have the mattress and the other seemed to have the box spring!
Some examples of our “lovely” stay is when we opened the door to our hotel room we saw a half drunken water bottle on the bed and some sandals under the table. There was a “community” mens body wash in the shower for every guest to use for their stay (that’s what they consider complementary toiletries apparently) and that was it.
We borrowed the baby cot and it was a nightmare to assemble. The metal rails kept breaking out of where it should’ve been attached but it wasn’t. We paid $12 for the stay for it. If you have a baby in a stroller just know that there are about 5 steps into the building and you have to carry the stroller up them.
The only silver lining was that the Asian gentleman at the desk was super nice.

The outside facade look good but once you get in the front desk area it looks like a bodega storage. The place is filthy.. Unlike a normal hotel where they give you key card, this hotel gives you keys to your room and the main door of the hotel. The flooring is carpeted that smells.. the hallway going to your room smells.

It was $165 per night. I expected it to be decent. It was gross but we were tired, I decided to deal with if for the night. You could hear EVERYTHING! It sounded like people were running around on the floor above. Around 10 pm I could hear people partying down the hall. Unfortunately, we had two nights booked. My boyfriend spoke to the man downstairs and he said he’d refund the next night, but that I had to call Expedia. I called Expedia, the called the front desk and sai the person that answered couldn’t speak English… how convenient. They told me to checkout and that they would get a hold of the front desk and call me back. We checked out and handed in the key and guess who checked us out? The man who could speak English. I asked him again, “You said you would refund the night, but when Expedia called a women answered and couldn’t speak English. They’re going to call you back, will this be okay? You’ll refund us for the night?” He reassured me he would. I even took a video recording. I have photos of the filthy room too. So he flat out lied. Nice. Probably booked the room to someone else for the night too.

It was very bad hotel terrible service. Room was terribly dirty, didn’t broom didn’t mop, comforter was dirty and stained other people shampoo was there. Elevator was smelly hallway and the lobby was dirty. And terrible customer service.same night when we did review there is a guy who tried to help us out to give us different room and we appreciate that but they show their real face in the morning.Mr victor changed to another room which is floor was clean but bed sheet is old no towel was look like 10 years old. Couldn’t even touch it. Room was cold heating wasn’t working properly for the room or maybe there is broken window that’s why room didn’t get warm. But we were feeling bad to complain again. And just tried to somehow spend the night. They just ruined our trip and didn’t feel like to visit Montreal and we head back to Ottawa. Didn’t enjoy the rest of the day. Washroom got clogged for some reason and they were blaming us and wanted to get more money. They made us to wait 1 and half hour to wait until plumber to arrive and wanted to see what we put into the washroom. After so much trouble did not get any compensation for that. Didn’t expect this kind of hotel in Expedia list. Some hotel have rules if we complain then we can get some competition or complementary. Just lost a day and drive back home tried to enjoy but didn’t happen anything. We just lost our day money energy. Thanks for having this kind of hotel in Expedia. Next time we will check and search more.
