I strongly recommend avoiding Hotel Chrome Montréal. This was one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve experienced.

Our floor felt like a construction site—drywall work in the hallway, equipment running, drywall dust on the floor, flickering hallway lights, and a strong wet, soggy smell. We were also woken up early by loud construction noise coming from the hallway.

During a rainy day there was water leaking from the ceiling, and the hotel’s solution was simply placing a large trash can in the hallway to catch the water.

The room itself was poorly maintained: broken furniture, lights that didn’t work, a disconnected room phone, a very noisy wall AC/heater unit, and an outdated TV with only basic channels. The shower also had visible mold.

Housekeeping didn’t make the bed, empty trash, or refresh towels until the fourth day of our stay.

When we raised concerns, the front desk staff seemed irritated rather than apologetic and were reluctant to help when we asked about changing rooms.

Overall, the property felt neglected and poorly managed. Montreal has many hotels, choose another one.

The hotel was okay.

The room had what we believe was a freshly painted ceiling but the smell was extremely strong. The room also did not have a window so it was impossible to get rid of the smell even with the bathroom fan on 24/7. We did spend the majority of the time outside of the hotel, however the smell was noticeable also in our clothes after a few days in the hotel.

We had arrived early on check in day with the expectation the room would not be ready. We were asked for a fee per bag to keep them at the hotel prior to check in. At check out we had the same experience paying a fee per bag to keep them at the lobby. The fee was small but surprising as most places will happily store guests belongings prior to check in.

My 4 month old baby, my sister and I stayed in this hotel. It was suppose to be a 3 night stay but ended up being a 1 night. This hotel is extremely dirty and the rooms smell of stale cigarette and mold. Our blankets had stains on them, mold on the window, our tub was broken. These reviews saying “you get what you pay for” are disgusting comments. No one pays for a stinky moldy HOTEL room. They refused to give me a refund which honestly was the least of my concerns. My baby actually got sick from this hotel, congestion and cough. Whatever you do DO NOT stay at this hotel especially if you’re travelling with a child. Pay a bit more and get a cleaner friendlier hotel. If you read the reviews on their actually website you’ll see what I mean. This hotel needs serious fixing and should be ashamed of what they are running. Do better.

The front desk staff warmly welcomed me upon arrival, which I appreciated. However, when I asked questions regarding the CA$200 deposit for the property, they suddenly became impolite and brushed off my concerns. They even forgot to give me my hotel key card. I understand that many tourists probably ask the same questions, but it is still their responsibility to respond politely. Fortunately, when I checked out, a different staff member assisted me. He was friendly and kind enough to answer my questions.

The location is convenient, as it is close to 2 subway stations. I was able to walk to major spots such as Chinatown, the Basilica, Old Port, Eaton Shopping Mall, etc.

The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, although it was not as fast as I had hoped.

The room I stayed in was spacious, with a fair-sized TV, adequate lighting, a large sofa, and a fridge. The bed was comfortable for the night. However, the room did not include a kettle, microwave, safety box, or ice machine. The bedsheets and towels looked clean, which was a relief. Unfortunately, there is no housekeeping service on weekdays. The amenities include two hand soap bars and one soap dispenser for hair/conditioner/body wash. The walls are not soundproof, so you can hear construction outside the hotel.

In the end, you get what you pay for, so don’t expect too much. While the location is convenient and the price is budget-friendly, the rooms are basic and somewhat outdated.

There is NO breakfast although Expedia says there is. There isn't even a coffeemaker in the rooms. There is no adjacent restaurant. Parking is $30 a night. You need to walk a couple of blocks to Ste Catherine's to find any restaurants

It felt like they did just less than necessary. We had no sheet on one of the beds, we requested extra pillows and they were given to us with no sheets. We got one pillow per bed to share between three people. An eye roll when we asked for more towels so we could each have one. Nowhere to hang wet towels to dry. The shower curtain was falling off the wall. No where to access water, ice or a microwave, as there was no access to the restaurant. The shelf in the bathroom cupboard was broken. Only one functional outlet in the room to be shared between three people.

For the amount paid ($114 plus tax), I do not recommend this hotel.
Parking is extra. It is a small underground and very dark parking. No elevator access going to the parking level.
Minimal toiletries- they only provide shower gel. Towels are very thin.
You can’t adjust the thermostat so it was very hot when you’re sleeping.
The beddings are not clean. You’ll find a lot of lint on the beddings.
No accessible receptacles/plugs that can be used!!! I had to plug my phone to charge behind the fridge.
The worst part, for a non smoking building, some guests smokes in their room and you can smell it in the hallway and in your room!!!
I do not recommend this hotel.
For this price, you might as well pay a bit more to have a restful night at a 3 or 4 star hotels.

The room itself was fine, clean and comfortable, and overall a decent place to stay.

However, one thing I really didn’t like was the security deposit policy. Guests are required to leave a cash deposit of up to $400 as insurance for the room. While I understand the need for protection against damages, having to provide that much in cash felt inconvenient and a bit excessive. It definitely took away from the overall experience for me.

If you’re planning to stay here, just make sure you’re aware of this policy in advance.

Staff was pleaseant, stay was fine at best, room was clean but there were multiple minor issues with the room- lamp shades weren't secured, light bulbs were very loose in the lamps, the plate around the tub's handle valve had cracks in it, there was no shampoo or conditioner provided, ao bring your own, and where there should have been a towel rack was completely ripped out of the wall unfixed. But aside from that the bed was comfortable enough, pillows and sheets were clean.

Perfect spot, great for budget travel when you want to have a clean and safe room with close proximity to Old Montreal for really low cost. You definitely get more value out of the room than the deal you’re paying for. Even though some things are dated and there were renovations on during our stay, we had the perfect birthday getaway with privacy, comfort and a spectacular view of city hall. Will definitely come back again. Thank you!

We booked a room mentioning it had a sofa bed, which was great because we had a third person with us. But it wasn't what we expected. While two people got the bed, the third person had to make a bed using the sofa and an arm chair. It was not a pull out sofa bed. Some clarity would've been nice.

Chambre manquait un peu de ménage , trouvé des mottons de poussière près du lit et du chauffage, spots blanc de platre ou peinture dans la fenêtre, lavabo nettoyer??? Pas de cafetière dans la chambre. Correct pour le prix et pour 1 seule nuit, mais je ne passerais pas plusieurs nuit là.

Hotel is old and out dated. The toilet got clogged and the when I went to the front desk to tell them, they tried to hand me a plunger to fix it and I laughed and told them its not my toilet to fix. Needless to say they fixed it. 4/10
