La cuisine est très peu équipée. 2 cuillères , 2 fourchettes, 2 couteaux, 2 verres deparailles, 3 tasses, 3 grandes assiettes, 3 assiettes en mélanine, 1petit poêlon en Téflon très usé, 1 grand chaudron, 1 passe à spaghetti On a dû demander d’installer un micro-ondes.

You get what you pay for, I guess. The toilet didn't flush (I had to lift the tank lid and manually flush every time). The smell of smoke permeated the hallway. There was a 1980s-era polyester quilt on the bed and blue stained towels in the washroom rather than white. No additional lock/deadbolt from the inside of the room for added security. I nearly wiped out a few times on the icy steps to the hotel entrance. The TV had very few channels. Good shower pressure and location, though.

AVOID AT ALL COST! I know the price can be attractive, but genuinely was disgusting. The hotel reeks of cigarettes and mildew. The furniture and bedding both were littered with stains, and the bathroom had water mold in both the shower and sink. I wouldn’t wish staying here on my worst enemy.

room is clean, staff is friendly, breakfast is basic and nice to have, price and location are great. Only suggestion is to make sure to use blackout curtains; we were facing to the street, so one of our windows doesn't have blackout curtain and it's bright with the street lights.

the stairs to go up to the lobby smell soooo bad, not inviting. the person at the lobby was nice, gave us our key and explained well how to get to the room. as we entered, there was a smell in the room, the sheets were dirty (multiple hairs, different color spots on the bed sheets), the sofa and chair looked overused - there were marks on the walls. 5 min later we went back to the lobby to check-out, the person at the lobby was not surprised. We asked for a reimbursement at this point - he asked us to go through Hotels.com, which we did, to no avail unfortunately. The hotel decided to uphold the original cancellation policy and have declined the waiver request. I think Hotels.com need to compensate and promptly unlist that hotel.

Staff were friendly. Room was clean and has all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Room has no view. Could adjust room temperature at will without problem with the in-room thermostat. Breakfast was very simple with 3 kinds of cereals, bread, fresh fruits, coffee, milk, and juice. Location is perfect, easy access to metro and airport bus stop. However, no elevator, so if you have mobility issue, or if you have heavy luggage, it could be a problem with all the stairs.

Since we booked a room (two beds, private bathroom) at a very reasonable rate, we were very happy with our stay. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of Quarter des Spectacle attractions and was directly beside the Esplanade Tranquille skating rink (winter stay). The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast (as mentioned by others) was toast, cereal, coffee, juice and apples. Still, better than starting the day with an empty stomach. The mattresses were on the firmer side.

Since we did not drive, I can only assume that finding parking in this area would be difficult. The rooms did not seem very soundproof, but it should be kept in mind that this is an older building.

Both check in and check out were quick and easy. All in all, would definitely stay here again if the price remains reasonable.

good central location, but quite a few dodgy people hang out near the front - lobby area frequently smelled of urine. Fire alarm went off at 5am one morning due to someone smoking in the stairwell.

Good location and that's really all that's good. Our room was old and not maintained. The tiles in the bathroom were all loose, the tap was difficult to turn off, the beds have no cushion and fold when you sit or lay on them. The hallways smell of old wet wood and cigarettes. Getting to our room required travel through multiple rooftop terraces outside the building, very strange. The walls do not quiet any of the street noise, we heard music and yelling all night long. The air conditioner was installed in the window very unprofessionally, and didn't work well (would just blast freezing air randomly and was so loud you couldn't sleep with it on). There was no way to open the curtains and see outside. Overall just not a great experience and will not book there again.

Felt Like a Movie Scene… But I Slept Fine

The location overall wasn’t bad — actually, it was quite decent. That being said, the entrance to the hotel was... creepy. It honestly felt like I was going into a shady place for some kind of illegal business. Right below the hotel, there’s a huge adult store, and to get to the hotel, you have to walk past it and enter a small, dark glass door.
From there, you go up some really uneven stairs — no elevator — and either ring the bell or wait for the staff at the front desk to buzz you in (they probably do this to keep non-guests out, since there seemed to be a lot of homeless people around the area).
Check-in was kind of unusual, and the layout of the building was a bit confusing. After checking in, you need to go up or down more stairs to reach your actual room (still no elevator), and the floors are so uneven that at times I felt like I was hiking uphill — and then suddenly going downhill again.
The room itself was small but had most of the essentials. Cozy, even. However, the shower booth in the bathroom was extremely small — like, barely enough space for one person. Also, you need to turn the water on in advance, but if you do that, it splashes right outside the booth, which is not ideal.
I stayed for two nights, and there was no cleaning service in between.
All in all, it was a strange but kind of interesting experience. Not terrible, but not sure I’d stay again.

The pictures posted on Expedia does not meet the reality and conditions of the hotel. The hotel is extremely outdated, unclean and has no elevators. If you have any sort of physical disability, I would encourage not staying at the hotel. I would encourage others to boom other hotels. However, if you enjoy staying in hostels then you may like this “hotel”

Location, location, location!
We stayed in a \"superior\" room and enjoyed the character of the hardwood floors and brick walls of this quirky, nicely renovated building - not at all the corporate commercial feel, yet comfortable and clean. Walk out the front door and you are practically in the Place Des Arts, pedestrian only. We parked in the Complex Desjardins, so convenient, and traveled light with just backpacks. This is not at all accessible to those who cannot climb stairs. But for sightseers on a budget we found it very pleasant!

The good, the meh, and the bad

Honestly, after reading some of the scathing reviews about this place (that I read *after* booking), I felt compelled to leave my own! For context, this was a last-minute booking, and I am a solo female French-speaking traveller.

The good: the location is excellent, the price was good, and it was cleaner than I expected. I didn't see any bugs, mice, or dirt, at least not in my room (\"queen superior\"). I didn't spend any time in the common areas, which seemed run-down, but not as filthy as some reviews would indicate.

The meh: the bed wasn't comfortable, the breakfast was basically wonder bread and some stale cereal, and the TV doesn't get many channels (if you only speak English, you'll have about 3 channels to choose from). None of these were a big deal for me.

The bad: The lock on the door seems really flimsy, and overall the security is questionable. There is one person working the desk, and sometimes guests leave the main door ajar so just anyone could walk in. Pretty sure there are a few people who just straight-up live here. It's a sad vibe, like you're staying in a Darren Aronofsky movie.

Overall, you get what you pay for. It's for sure sketchy and I wouldn't hurry to stay here again, but it's not the hellhole that some reviews suggest.

Lovely team & very central. You need to navigate stairs, so give it a miss if you have mobility issues or trouble carrying luggage up steps. It wasn't a lux hotel, but it was clean and my room was big. I was there for a Friday and Saturday during the summer.. the Friday night was quite loud due to the club next door (so bring earplugs just in case), but the Saturday night was quiet.

This was by far one of the worst hotel stays we've ever had. The room was filthy — the mattress was heavily stained, the sheets had marks, and we even found a used Q-tip on the floor. The room was not cleaned properly, and it clearly didn’t match the pictures or description online.

We were so uncomfortable we had to sleep over the blanket and used a shirt to cover our pillows because it felt too dirty to touch. We couldn't even make it through the night and ended up leaving at 5 AM.

This is NOT a family-friendly hotel, and I would strongly advise against booking here. Totally unacceptable hygiene and false advertising.

This is not the Hotel I will recommend to anyone even if it is free.
The rooms offered were on Third floor after you climb few steps. No elevators and no help to move your bags
Then the rooms do not have an attached bathroom !!!! You are told to share it with other gusts.
The carpet and bedsheets and towel looks lake used and never cleaned .
Very very unclean .

Positives: Great central location and near bus stops and a metro station. Staff were friendly, and price was great compared to other hotels in the area. Room was quiet and had air conditioning (I requested a room at the back of the building).

Negatives: No elevator and reception is on the first floor, so all luggage has to be carried up the stairs.

Overall: The hotel is basic so don't expect anything beyond this. It is reasonable for the price paid. Breakfast was included - it includes toast, cereal and fruit only but is adequate.

The place is not well maintained at all. The so called terrace is actually a garbage dump ! We booked two rooms and one with broken air conditioner on a very hot day. Many rooms have to share bathrooms with other guests.

There is a sex store right next to the hotel entrance. There were people sleeping on the street. A thing to consider if you travel with children.

The entrance is on a pedestrian only street section. No car can park close to the hotel entrance. There is no elevator in the hotel, either. So be prepared to drag your luggage.

There is no protein with breakfast.

The only good experience we had was the receptionist who was very nice and helpful.

The hotel is located above a sex shop. I didn’t mind that as much as there tended to be vagrants around the building as well. The design of the hotel was pretty basic. Things were a bit run down and dirty. Coming up the stairs on one of the nights there was saliva where someone had spit on the stairs. I didn’t hate my stay, but I probably won’t go back.

The standout feature of this hotel is definitely its fantastic location in the heart of Quartier Des Spectacles. You can easily reach all major tourist attractions within a 20-minute walk. On the downside, there is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up to the 2nd or 3rd floor. However, the prices here are very competitive, making it a great choice overall.
