The property’s design was fantastic. It was experiencing Victorian era in 2025. Having said that, the size of the room for the money paid was not impressive at all. The place could have been a little more inclusive which somewhere was a little uncomfortable. However, that may have been to do with the culture of the city. Not quite sure. We were overall happy with choosing this place. The hosts make sure that the place is extremely tidy and the food that is offered is tasty.

Our stay was excellent. We enjoyed our hosts and their local knowledge and hospitality! Our room was very comfortable and relaxing. We drove our car, Honda 2025 CRV, and were able to secure one of the two enclosed and locked garage spaces to leave our car and took metro, Lyft, and walked everywhere. It was wonderful. Breakfast was always filling and delicious. We met some wonderful other guests each morning around the breakfast table which added to our enjoyment of Gingerbread Manor.

I liked the historical aspect of the Gingerbread and the lovely stained glass. The room was clean and comfortable. I really liked the hot breakfast and easy convenience of walking around the B&B.
The only thing that would be a barrier in the future will be the stairs at the front of the property for those who may be physically limited or when carrying a heavy suitcase.

This is the absolute best place to stay in Montreal. A perfect location for getting around the city by car, public transport, or walking.

Great location and home to spend our vacation in Montreal. Appreciated close proximity to the transit system, places to eat, and the general walkability of the area. I'd recommend staying here if that's your primary goal, as it was ours. Reasonably value.
Hosts were generally friendly and hospitable, we just wish there wasn't such a focus on unmerited polarizing and political discussion - an absolute no-no in the hospitality industry (having stayed at dozens of B&Bs globally, we know it's not a successful approach). There are many comments and reviews before on the topic, we came in completely open and found that even seemingly trivial things like recycling in Pittsburgh (our home city, hosts had clearly never been there) and the US educational system (my partner was an administrator of a large public school system, was quietly insulted, and thus made the choice to not communicate following such unwelcome commenting) were made abrupt political topics. Overall, discussions just shouldn't have went there.
I'll note that we are an LGBTQ couple, very liberal in our leanings, including a dual-citizen. We stayed at a B&B in rural Nebraska this weekend, and even knowing the proprietors had a very different world views than ours, they were amazing (non-queer) hosts who understood the importance in customer relationship, asked us about our hometowns, careers, families, and gave insightful local historical perspectives without the need for polarizing discussion.

The manor is downtown and 6 min to metro station Sherbrooke . The hosts are attentive and responsive. The room is very small, but if you are out for the day and just come in to sleep, it’s great. Good breakfast! Would recommend Gingerbread Manor to other guests.

If you want to have a pleasant bed and breakfast experience then the Gingerbread Manor is the place to stay. The host are wonderful and insightful. The food is delicious. They are very approachable and accomadating. The bed is comfy. Streaming services are provided. You are walking distance from all types of restaurants, cafes, bakeries, bars, and convenience stores. Even downtown is only a few km away so you can walk their to avoid the crowded and costly parking.

This was a very cute and centrally located B&B. The breakfast was delicious, and the two owners made us very welcomed. We used the large king room on the top floor and loved how spacious everything was. The only down side is that the bed and sheets smelled like wet laundry or a sweaty clothing. Made me question the cleanliness of the other areas.

We booked it at last minute, and they went beyond helpful to make sure we got everything for checking in smoothly. Once we saw the rooms, they were really clean, spacious and cozy. Breakfast were a delight, and the room we ended up staying had its own bathroom.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the gingerbread manor, it is the bed and breakfast with everything you could ever want. The owners have obviously taken the time to think about and make sure that every visitors stay is as comfortable as possible. The beds are super comfy and rooms/beds were remade each day. The breakfast was delicious with a wide selection of cereals, fresh Montréal bagels, and a different cooked choice for each day of our stay. We would highly recommended a stay here if visiting, they also have handy secure parking ideal if you want to leave your car and not drive around the city.

Let’s just say that this property is underwhelming. It started when tried to ask about parking and requested to use their restroom before check-in and was told “Absolutely not”. There is certainly a much better way to explain that restrooms are not accessible until checkin, but to be greeted with such an off putting attitude was not the way I wanted to start a stay. Feeling like a nuisance rather than a guest, is never a good feeling.
With that said, I definitely felt like I was just staying in someone’s home, not a bed & breakfast. The kitchen was not clean when accessing it for water in the evening and the entire residence needs a major cleaning and freshening up. Simply put, when I go away, I want to be somewhere nicer than my home-soft towels, linens, friendly people & energy.
Instead, it felt hostile and negative any time I came in contact with owner. Montreal didn’t disappoint, this property did.

A bed and breakfast in a great location. I was a little hesitant, when I booked this and realized after it was a b&b and I accidentally booked a room with no en-suite and had to share a bathroom. But with the layout and size of the place, even with a fully booked house, there were no issues; I never had to wait, I didn’t feel rushed. All in all, it was a great, clean and charming place to stay and very relaxing. The hosts were great and catered to our dietary restrictions, no problem.

Very beautiful house. The hosts are amazing, Eve and Peter I believe? They made me feel like part of a family. The house was built in 1800s but is maintained in an amazing condition. Great location to, close to downtown but not too close that you can get a good night sleep. Would stay there again.

If you want an authentic Montreal Manor house experience with great food and two wonderful hosts, this is the place to stay. Our room was spacious and the king bed very comfy. Many of the original Victorian features have been lovingly restored throughout the house. The entrance hall is wonderful with chandelier and gothic like staircase.
But the breakfasts were the best - lovingly prepared by the hosts who were also very entertaining. They even shared a secret recipe with me! Ask for the potatoe pie!

The building was built in 1885 and has been restored to what appears to be its original condition. Step inside this bed and breakfast and you will instantly feel like you have stepped back in time. It is simply beautiful and exudes the history of its day. I parked at the back of the building in what use to be the old carriage and horse stable! Our room was on the third floor, we had a king size bed, which was quite comfortable. The shared bathroom was at the end of the hallway, it was modern and clean. I believe there were two other rooms on our floor, but the building is so well constructed with stone that we never heard a sound from the other rooms. We have used b&b's in the past but always with private baths so this was our first experience with a shared bathroom and to be honest found the experience not to be any problem.

The Gingerbread Manor B&B was located perfectly in Montreal. There is so much to see and do in walking distance including the famous Saint Laurent Boulevard. The place looks very nice inside and out, but looks can sometimes be deceiving.
The air inside the B&B is filled with dust. I would think with the amount I paid to stay there would be an air purifier in every room. The stairs and floor creaked, loudly, with each step I took. The place needs some remodeling. The owners were less than charming.

The room and all the building we saw....terrific. The breakfasts were brilliant, and so was the conversation of our hosts and other guests. The neighbourhood is beautiful and is great for walking anywhere, good for transit, parking is constrained but possible...we rented a space in the garage and it was fine. The room is very small, but it is pretty, bright, meticulously maintained, well appointed, and has a delightful view of the neighborhood. Stash your stuff in the large closet and the room will be plenty big enough. Shared bath is scrupulously clean and luxuriously large. Breakfast in the dining room features welcoming table settings and plenty of options if you are not interested in the hot meal prepared to order by the host.

Gingerbread Manor is a charming B&B. From beautiful crown moldings to hard wood floors, the ambiance is wonderful. The inn has modern conveniences, cable TV, internet, etc. The hosts were helpful in pointing out the surrounding area highlights. The breakfast was delicious and entertaining. If you don't mind stairs and shared bathrooms, you'll love Gingerbread Manor.

Keep in mind it is shared bathroom. When I arrived the WiFi and room lock weren't working but the hosts were quick to fix this. The breakfast made in the morning by the owners was really nice! Overall a pretty good deal for what the stay cost.

We arrived late and received a warm welcome from the hosts before being shown to our room, which they had kindly upgraded for us. The place is as charming as the hosts and is in a fantastic location for getting quickly into downtown as well as to the more interesting quarters near the city's center.

The neighborhood is incredible. I used to stay at Lindsey's B&B for Women, and have been struggling to find someplace cute in the same area since Lindsey closed her B&B a few years back. This place is basically the owners' house, plus some extra rooms they rent. There were no communal spaces to hang out in, which may be different in the warmer months as I think they have a little yard. The room was clean enough. The kitchen that the owner prepared food in (for the guests) was not clean, and the owner ate his meals while preparing food for others (this was a turn off, prompting me to not want to eat any of the food he prepared). Owner Ephraim was extremely intrusive with his conversations and jokes (sometimes inappropriate jokes). I was talking with another guess one morning and he continually interrupted us, inserting unsolicited commentary. He made several off-handed comments about the United States. On my last morning (as I was walking out of the place), he asked me if there was anything he could have done better, joking that he was told to talk less by previous patrons. I felt kind of put on the spot.

The Gingerbread Manor is a beautiful place, and in such a fantastic location! Our room was comfortable and spacious, and made us feel like we were stepping back in time, but with today’s amenities. While the bathroom was shared, it was also spacious, modern, and very clean. Breakfast was lovely, although not as elaborate as breakfasts we’ve had at other bed and breakfasts. Can’t say enough about the location – scores of fantastic restaurants within walking distance, parks nearby, and an easy walk to Old Montreal (about a mile away).

Nice old B and B in a nice neighborhood! Very nice breakfast made each day. A different surprise each morning. Very nice aspect. It is an old building with updated bathrooms and windows, but still has its old charm. Keep in mind it is a B and B so if you tend to stay out late you would feel a little awkward coming in as the stairs creek and you have shared bathrooms on each floor. Other than that, a nice experience.

My boy friend and I, stayed at this hotel for one night. It is conveniently located near many restaurants and close to the metro. We were able to park our car in front of the bed and breakfast on the street at no extra cost. When we returned to check in later that day, to our surprise, we were given the largest room! It was very spacious and very well kept. The shared bathrooms were also spot less. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Also, the staff is friendly and we were provided with a delicious breakfast the following morning.

Give them an exact time of arrival, or else!
I didn't check my email from them and so I didn't see that they wanted me to tell them EXACTLY when (between 3 and 6) I was going to check in. We arrived at 4:30 to find the door locked. We rang the bell, and the door was finally (after a few bell ringings and knocks) opened a crack. The guy was VERY upset that we hadn't responded to his email, and said we were lucky that someone was there to let us in. He was very reluctant to do so. It seems to me that if check-in time was from 3-6 someone should be there from 3-6. He did let us in but he was pretty rude and very upset. The room was fine - clean, cute and charming. The overall hotel decor is a little dark, and the guy was so mean we didn't want to stay there and spent as little time as possible there. Parking was hard to find.

Great location for a first-time visit
This was my first visit to the city. The location was perfect. The B&B is in a residential area, right near St Denis and pedestrian street Rue Prince Arthur, popular streets with lots of activity, and what I hoped to see in Montreal. Very glad I didn't book one of the hotels downtown on Berri. I was surprised that the breakfast at the B&B wasn't a full breakfast.

A great B&B experience for those new to B&B
I don't normally stay in Bed and Breakfasts. In fact, the last one I stayed in was probably 20 years ago, but I was very happy with Gingerbread Manor. It's a lovely old house in a charming neighborhood in central Montreal. The hosts, Yves and Ephraim were wonderful and very welcoming. They made my re-introduction to Bed and Breakfasts an easy one. The breakfasts were excellent, and there were many options to choose from. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Yves and Ephraim were also very knowledgeable about Montreal and Canada in general, and we had engaging conversations at breakfast. There were only 2 other rooms on my floor and 1 of those had a private bathroom, so the common bathroom was never an issue, I was never waiting. The only drawback would probably be legal parking which seemed to be very limited, but our hosts directed us to a lucky spot in front of the building which we kept for the rest of our stay. Montreal is such a beautiful city, and when I return I plan to go back to the Gingerbread Manor to make my stay that much more enjoyable. Thank you to Yves and Ephraim for making our stay very pleasant!

Amazing Valentines Trip
My boyfriend and I wanted a quick vacation to Montreal and this hotel was the perfect fit! Romantic, cozy, and a delicious breakfast every morning. We stayed in a shared bathroom room (it's a little cheaper than a room with a bathroom in it) and at first I was extremely hesitant. However, the bathroom was kept extremely clean and I never had to worry about stepping into someone else's dirt, even with a full house! I would recommend this to couples looking for a relaxing vacation with a home away from home vibe.
