The AC was not working properly, lights were broken, and there was constant noise. Housekeeping did not respond even after repeated calls. The staff left and nobody was at checkout. I told the man my key didn’t work for the second bathroom and he didn’t fix it. No ac or air in dorms and no paper towel or dryer in bathroom. I get it’s a hostel but it felt rundown and neglected. How is there not a staff overnight? Not safe!

Laundry services is not easily available (there is not nearby laundry shop but around kilometet away and electric port is only in the common arr not in the pod however the frontdesk is accommodating. The pod is nice and lightings and ventilation are good. Comforrability to sleep is fine.

Hygie Hostel was okay, but not as advertised. The “door” to the pod was just a paper curtain, which is very different from what was shown in the pictures. It didn’t feel secure or private at all — definitely not somewhere I would be comfortable letting my daughters stay.

It was simple and clean and the staff was noice - location is really great! Good spot for just sleeping and taking shower (I wouldn't stay more than a night or 2 here but will 100% come back!)

Thought I would give this place a try. No parking, had to pay $21 for the night so add that to the cost of the room. Bed mattress extremely firm. Had to climb up a latter to get to my upper bunk. Only 1 bathroom for entire floor, as the other one out of order. People were not quiet overall. Sliding \"accordion door\" wasn't very great. Pillow and blanket were best part of the deal.

This was my first time staying in a hostel type hotel. I went into this thinking that the pod that I slept in would have a lock on it, but it was just a paper shade basically that you pulled down. There was an opening where anyone could come peek in at me and that scared me. The bed was so squeaky I couldn't breathe without it making a noise. I could hear everyone else's beds squeaking and could hear people snoring and coughing. I am unsure if I got any sleep at all.

The pictures shown are not what the actual hotel at all. The pods are doorless, open cubbies in the wall with no soundproofing or privacy. The sliding/locking pod doors have been removed and replaced with paper curtains. None of the locks (not even in the washroom) work, and anyone in the hotel can access you and your pod while you sleep, which is so unsafe considering the front desk staff leaves at 11pm and only returns at 2pm the next day. My blanket and pillow were sweaty and soiled when I got there, and my bedsheets were soiled with oily bodily fluid. There were dead ants and dirt under the mattress. The floor and tables are sticky. The air conditioning is not even close to enough to keep the room comfortable with everyone sleeping there. The longer I spent here the farther my stomach sank. I trusted my gut and left. Do not stay here, especially if you are a woman.

Sleeping in a capsule was something I’d always wanted to try, and it went even better than I expected. The place was super clean, quiet, and well-designed. Inside the capsule, there was a fan, adjustable lighting, a mirror, star-style ceiling lights, and even a motorized light feature. It also had an Android TV, USB fast charger, and USB-C charger — things you don’t always get even in luxury hotels!
For the price, it's a fantastic option for solo travelers, professionals, and even couples, since they offer both single and double pods. The hotel also has secure lockers, a cozy living room, a dining area, and clean washrooms and showers.

This place is a good option for backpackers, especially if you’re traveling light. It’s very convenient if you’re not bringing much with you. However, be aware that they don’t provide locks for the lockers in the two-person pods. There’s also no shampoo, soap, or towels provided, so make sure to bring your own. Bring your own water as well, since they don’t refill their water dispenser. The microwave and fridge are available but not well maintained. On the plus side, the location is excellent—very convenient and close to many of Montreal’s top attractions.

Overall not a horrible place to stay if you don’t mind horrid bo and no doors on your pods. Yes unlike most pods that have a card locking system, this company has decided to replace them with open curtains that you are unable to close unless you have something to cover the gap in the middle. You can find a much better bang for your buck at Hotel St André.

Great Staff but you may get a lemon module
it's a Hostel and it looked quit modern and the modules are supposed to be sound proof but my bottom bunk was do squeaky that every time I tossed to one side the whole module would squeak leaving no peace for my neughbours and my back was just killing me every night the mattress was so thin I could feel the steel bar underneath my back all night ,... I got the lemon bed I assumed ... and I felt the place needed to be sprayed for bugs had to wash all my cloths at the laundry mate to make sure I was taking on any viditors... I must say it's cheap and you a lousy bed well you pay for what you get for. Nonetheless the staff where found regularly cleaning and courteous .... Madelaine made a good impression on me and thus the reason I stayed the full three nights. If go to a hostel remember to request a good functioning module .... it's in the old Montreal section which is a perfect location to access the historical sites of this great city.

Pods do not have doors as shown in the photos. They have only fabric with a slit or pull down shades. No power outlet in pod, only usb ports. Mattress is very thin and it is right on the floor, making it challenging to get up, especially with uncomfortable frame. Stairs are simple mdf to upper bunk. Stairs are unavoidable as sleeping quarters are in the basement. Soap and shampoo are provided but there is not a way to dry your hands at all (no hand dryers, paper towels, or towels.) No common room like many hostels - only a kitchenette/dining area.

The pictures for this hostel are not accurate at all. That was the biggest complaint for us. The doors to each pod do not close completely. The pod we were assigned to had a curtain that was attached with a flimsy piece of duct tape and we were not offered a different pod even though many were open at the time of our check in. We had booked 3 nights total and ended up only staying 1 night.

This property is an absolute scam. The pods are absolutely horrible and smell like a wet dog. The pods aren’t soundproof and the doors are all broken while attempting to be masked with a badly cut out piece of fabric instead. No lockers are inside the pods as advertised, instead it’s broken lockers outside the pods which were already all used (you also needed your own lock). The property was apparently under construction which meant no kitchen or pool table. Overall this place is definitely not worth the money!

I stayed here for one night and was told upon arrival that the payment I made on the website had not been received by the hotel. As a result, I was asked to pay again at the hotel. Despite my concerns about a duplicate payment, I was assured that a refund would be provided. However, it has now been over two months, and I have yet to receive the refund.
I called the hotel directly to follow up, and while they acknowledged the issue and confirmed that a refund would be issued, no progress has been made. This has been a frustrating and disappointing experience. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel and will not be returning.

The pods could use some extra cleaning as there was a hand print on the stainless panel inside and some dirty substance on the roof upon arrival. There is only 1 toilet and shower to share between everyone else staying there which didn’t seem to be an issue on our stay but the shower requires attention and was hanging off the wall

Don’t stay in the pods. We booked a pod for 3 nights and only stayed one. The lock to my pod was broken, the door came off the track, there was a blood stain on the duvet, there’s only one bathroom for all the pods and it’s not very clean. There’s no towels, including hand towels in the bathroom. Theres also no air flow at all in the pods, no fan or anything. There’s barely anything in the kitchen. There is a number you can text ‘if you need anything’ that I texted 4 times without answer, and when I told the staff we wanted to leave early there wasn’t any question about it, no how can we improve things for you, nothing. The place is not well maintained, and there’s obvious water damage to the floor. Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean they shouldn’t care.

There are no towels when you shower and the shower smelled like cigarette smoke. We had to be switched into 4 different pods due to them being dirty. The pods are super noisy at night, we could hear every time the person above us moved and it was hard to sleep. No air flow in the pods either. Staff was super nice and kind, they were the highlight. But this would not be good for more than a few hours of rest.

It could have been great (you can't beat location, it's amazing) except the pod we were assigned didn't have A/C so we had to open the door of the pod and have everybody walk past by us at all times... the cleanliness was not the best, floors were sticky and there was a dirty feet smell that was only masked with aerosol sprays...they only have 1 bathroom and 1 shower and the kktchen area is kinda nasty too.... also there was a young couple that was getting it on all night until we had to shush them because the girls growns were getting louder and louder by the second... so if you are willing to overlook that then this is the place for you

Overall: not great but good location
Big meh for this place. Though relatively new it’s definitely showing hard wear that hasn’t been repaired. Many of the pods had doors missing and replaced with blinds. The airflow system in the pods was virtually non-existant. The courtyard to outside was inaccessible due to mattresses and equipment blocking the doors. The mattresses in the pods were creaky and not great. There were no rules posted for quiet times and a few guests were playing the television very late into the night.
The only reason I’d suggest staying here is that the location is very good and the staff were pleasant.

This is my second time staying at Hygie! The reception is always a delight! As soon as we got there, we were not comfortable with the room that we had booked (which is our fault for not paying attention). We were able to upgrade to a King suite for a pretty reasonable price for such short delay! The place was very clean, calm and had common areas that we could use! Would definitely recommend Hygie to anyone!

As a woman solo traveling I would never recommend this “hostel” to someone. There are not locks on the pod doors or the lockers. It is extremely poorly maintained with stains on the ceiling of the pods, the towels, and the beds. The rooms have no ventilation so they smell with sweaty feet. No complaints about the overall condition cause I get what I paid for. However, it was horrible to find that someone fumbled my luggage, and I lost all clothes brought with me for traveling. Moreover, this is definitely not the first time similar things have happened in the hotel. There are no effective measures against stealing! I cannot check the video and communicate smoothly with the manager. I was eventually told they could do nothing except file a police report.

Do not waste your money here. Incredibly overpriced for what you get, the pods don't even close all the way. The bedsheets and towels have weird stains, and there is only one single stall bathroom for all the pods. The shower has really bad water pressure and it takes 10 to 15 mins for it to start warming up. They don't even tell you that you need your own locks for the lockers and it's in a dark basement. The pictures are very deceiving, this place does not feel safe and very overpriced for what you get.

The doors to the pods only close halfway and don’t lock. There are lockers, but locks are not provided. Luckily there was a dollar store nearby. There was no hot water for showers, and only 1 toilet for the whole floor. Take your money somewhere else. Not worth it.
