When I got to the Hotel , there was nobody at the lobby for more then an hour ,
Came back later in the afternoon noon and they apologized, the staff was very friendly.
Rooms are spacious and clean.
No hot water at all for the shower this morning.
Great price for a night in Montreal Old port.

Only stay here under specific conditions. My friends and I were only in Montreal for a single night for IglooFest. We knew we would be coming back to the room tired and late so the quality was not our concern. The rooms are tiny, only big enough for a bed and small table. No outdoor lighting as it’s in the basement. The room was clean upon arrival, no complaints. The shower was lukewarm at best, and the pressure was pretty low. Overall, it was fine for our purposes (mainly because 2/6 of our group mangaged to sleep elsewhere 😉), but I definitely would not recommend for a several day trip unless you don’t expect to spend any time at the room.

We had no hot water for 3 of 4 days and was brushed off by the staff saying just run it longer. As if 45 minutes was not enough and thats normal. There is no staff on site 24 hours and their phone foes not get ansered nor do the messages.

The hotel has a great location and was a bargain. Room was clean but spare. It had king size bed that could sleep 3 according to the website, there was only one chair in the room and a desk. A combo furniture unit had space for a few articles of clothing, 3 hangers, a coffee machine, refrigerator, and a device that could either heat or cool a cup of water. A single towel was provided for me and a single towel for my companion. Asked for a hand towel and received another bath towel (which was also very thin). Large bathroom with a shower large enough for 3, but no hooks; the 2 sinks support could be used as a towel holder.

This property was fantastic location for Old Montreal. The air conditioning was always on, which got quite cold in our room. We did have a little trouble with the door not opening to the room, via the electronic card, but these things did not dampen our trip. A terrific location that is for sure

The ”luxury room” was clean when I entered. But there was no toilet paper, and no room service during the whole stay: 5 days. The hotel looks a refurnished old office, doors and walls are like paper, you can listen steps, slamning doors, and noise all the time. Ventilation system is always on, so better come with earplugs. The best is the location.

Consider this review with the cost of the stay. The cost was very economical; I had a room that looked clean the day I arrived. The rooms in the hotel are located in the basement. Some windows let daylight in to the sidewalk. I kept my curtains closed, so the room technically had no windows. There are no amenities in the building. The location is great. There is no daily cleaning, but you can request the staff for towels and cleaning to put the trash out. Overall in comparison with the price, the cleanliness was better than expected and if you are not planning to spend too much time in the room; you would be ok.

Check in was easy, the location is great, the room was very nice but the bathroom in sight disrepair. Just be warned that parking in the area is difficult so it would be a good idea to plan ahead. There is a pay garage a block or two away though.

Weirdest customer service ever

It was conveniently located next to the champ de mars station and the notre dame basilica. However, the hotel service was a little weird.

Got the private room and the first thing i noticed there were no washcloths. I had asked for one and was told they no longer distribute them because families do weird things with washcloths and they’d rather not give me one.

I had to run down to the mall to buy a washcloth to shower.

The rooms weren’t cleaned during my whole stay even though i placed the sign requesting cleaning. When i asked about it, the front desk stated that the cleaning crew thought i was in my room the entire time (even though i made sure to remove the sign when i was in the room).

When I asked for extra coffee stirrers I was told they never had them even though they were initially in the room.

What really annoyed me was when i asked about laundry service on the last night of my stay and was told the washer for residents wasn’t working only to have a resident use it.

It seemed like any time you approached the front desk to ask a question, they seemed really annoyed with the guests — not sure if the staff had a bad day or were overworked. The attitude didn’t bother me as much as the weird answers or hotel rules.

I also didn’t like the rooms were in the basement and the windows were on the street. Great lighting but the public could peep in on you. I’d say pay a little extra for a decent hotel.

Terrible overall stay. When arrived the room temp was 28 degrees when asking the from staff they said they were fixing ac. Came back later that night and it was fixed. Woke up at 3am to a 28 degree room temp. This happened both nights and front staff avoided eye contact and we dancing around any answer.
Shower was broken literally duct taped to the wall. Took 2 years for any warm water to reach shower. Bed sheets were dirty looked like they through on the floor before sloppily making the bed. Good location close to water

When we arrived they told us the ac was not working, it was a heat wave, so it was 30° in the room. They did not offer anything tk compensate, had no fans or backup cooling system. The room did not look like the pictures. We were provided only one small towel and half a toilet paper roll, for 2 people.

We showed up to this hotel late, and once we got into the room (that had no windows) we realized that it was VERY hot. We checked the AC and it said the room was 30 degrees celsius. VERY HOT. after searching for the front desk lady, we had to call the hotel and ask them to turn it on. She said she would do it from her side. we waited 30 minutes and when the air never went on, we left. We tried to find the front desk lady, even called but got no response. Awful. The next day I called the hotel multiple times with no response. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

Requested for a 2nd bed, didn’t get it. No towels or ammenities, and when asked for an extra bed or mattress, they denied saying expedia never notified them about the request. Paid 1500 for 3 nights and 3 people which was overpriced and under delivered service. Very upsetting. And also to mention they said the hotel room is only for two people not three and expedia shouldn’t have allowed to book for three people. Whos at fault here?

Hygie Hotel was perfect for us, a couple attending Pouzza Fest who just needed a place nearby to sleep.
As it is below ground, there was some drain back-up after a heavy rainfall but this didn't bother us (just good to know). The bedding smelled fresh but there were a few hairs. Overall the impression was a hotel that was trying to be artistic & stylish, but missing out on some details.
We had considered the pod hostel beds (which are in the same space) and were hoping to have access to the hostel kitchen, but the \"kitchen\" we were directed to was really a locker space with only a small fridge & microwave, not even a sink for washing dishes.
The staff were present when you needed them but not overly friendly or proactive (we had to ask for anything we needed, like the WiFi password and if we'd wanted a 2nd bath towel).
The Old Pier area is nearby with plenty of restaurants, shops & activities. And Muru crepe cafe across the road is delicious and very cute, with cheerful service.
We would stay here again under similar circumstances. But if I was spending more time in my hotel, I would choose a different place to stay.

The room was very very dirty, there were stains on the bed, the walls, the chairs, etc. It looked like our room was rented by the hour. And there were a lot of ants in our room, we discovered them in the middle of the night, and there was no one at reception past 11PM so we couldn't be moved in another room. The bed was very comfortable, but unfortunately I didn't get a good night of sleep because of the ants. Also I believe there was a homeless man wandering the hallway at some point.

If you’re thinking of staying at Hygie Hotel in Montreal—don’t. Save yourself the frustration, the discomfort, and the complete waste of money.

From the moment I walked in, it was clear that “hygiene” is just a part of their name and not something they actually practice. The room reeked of mildew, the sheets looked like they hadn’t been changed in weeks, and the bathroom? I’ve seen cleaner bathrooms at gas stations. Mold on the tiles, hair in the sink, and not a single towel in sight.

The front desk staff might be the most unhelpful and uninterested people I’ve ever encountered. Every question was met with a shrug or an eye roll. I’m not expecting five-star service, but basic courtesy shouldn’t be too much to ask.

Noise levels? Good luck getting any sleep. Thin walls, slamming doors, and what sounded like a construction site right outside my window at 2 AM. Oh—and don’t bother trying to get Wi-Fi that works. You’ll have better luck using smoke signals.

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. It’s overpriced, filthy, and run with a complete lack of care. Stay literally anywhere else in Montreal. You’ll thank yourself later.

I wasn’t aware that the place had pods for people to sleep. Kind of dorms. There were some sketchy looking people staying there. I had reserved a room. The website wasn’t obvious that it did that sort of thing. I would have chosen a different place. Also the bathroom in the room was a frosted half wall. I could see the entire toilet from my bed. With the half wall it means that if you were sharing this room you would be sharing all noises and smells with the other person. Not a good thing.

It was like staying in a European business hotel. The room was in the basement with no windows. The way out was not clearly marked and I stumbled into some strangers’ occupied and unlocked room. There were no restaurants open nearby when I arrived late in the evening. Guests made a terrible racket all through the night, and even blocking the cracks around the door with cloth did not allow me to sleep. However, it was clean and safe with a comfortable bed.

The room was in a basement, and anyone from the street could look into the room. The room was also kind of dirty, and it took a really long time for the shower to heat up. The walls are really thin so you can hear doors opening and closing, as well as conversations in the hallway. The staff were nice, but not super helpful. It just wasn’t the most comfortable stay but it’s great if you’re just in town a night or two and won’t be spending any time in the room other than to sleep because the location is great.

Tried to charge us additional fees during check-in (prepaid), they claim to have soundproofing, however, you could hear conversations through the wall and they were cleaning and vacuuming the hallway at 10pm. Linens were not clean, garbage and dust left on the floor and under the bed and we had to request towels. Overall very poor stay, I'd recommend spending a little more to stay somewhere else.

Service was great but the room was definitely not sound proof as advertised. We could hear the staff welcoming other guests and in the morning we could clearly hear the showers.

Would not recommend for those that have dust allergies. There was dust under the bed and when we plugged in the cord for the fridge (there is a mini fridge:)) we saw that area was definitely not cleaned for a while.

The shower room was everything we wanted and overall the look of the room was very modern and nice.

The rooms don’t have individual AC so sleeping was like torture!!! We couldn’t come back to our rooms and relax because it was like a sauna.

The shower looked nice till you turned it on and then it was like an erratic sprinkler! The shower base had no ridges so I almost slipped and broke my arm!

The manager was avoiding speaking with people because we couldn’t have been the only ones who were complaining. They couldn’t be found through the 2 days we were there.

The bed was lumpy, the pillow cases were rough and left marks on our faces.

This place does not deserve a dime of your money, you will regret it deeply if you book it!

While the place was clean and fairly decent this is NOT a hotel I’d say it’s more of a hostel. Shared room with shared bathroom and shower as well as communal kitchen and some room have their own bathroom.

I tried reaching out to the hotel via text and email as they said and never got a reply.

Good place if you’re in Montreal to party and only need a place to sleep but this is not the place for pre-drinks and order food.

Lastly the rooms are not necessarily what they say they are on the website. We booked a king suite room where we could sleep up to 4 there was 3 of us and there was only a king bed with no couch as they said on the website

I was told I would be able to come by early to check-in because I would be at a concert during the check-in window.

No one was there when I arrived and I spent 1.5 hours waiting outside the hotel only to be told to call them later and they would check me in over the phone.

The whole thing was a huge time waste and felt completely disorganized.

Fraudulent hotel. This is not a hotel and is a very low grade hostel. You sleep in a shabby basement room next to a sidewalk while hearing everyone from every room. Anyone can enter your \"hotel room\" via a keypad. Place too poor to afford handling multiple calls, basically a normal house phone. Receptionist doesnt answer door.
Prime real estate to steal kidneys.

Dear expedia Manager,

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding my recent stay at your hotel( Hygie Boutique). Unfortunately, I had an extremely disappointing experience, encountering several issues that significantly impacted the quality of my stay.

From the moment I entered my room, I was dissatisfied with the conditions and immediately requested a refund and cancellation of my reservation. However, I was informed that it was not possible and was instead offered another room. To my dismay, the alternative room provided was also subpar, lacking both proper lighting and essential amenities such as towels and even a bottle of water.

Furthermore, I was alarmed and disturbed when an individual entered my room at 4 AM, only to hastily leave upon seeing me and my spouse present. This incident greatly compromised our sense of security and made it difficult for us to sleep for the remainder of the night.

To compound the issues, the lack of parking facilities led to a penalty fee of $91 for my vehicle. This added inconvenience and unexpected cost further contributed to my overall dissatisfaction with the hotel.

Will never book this place again.

The area is in the basement. No windows, hallway is dark and smells bad. Cleaning cart left in the hallway. No receptionist. Sink # 1 in the Bathroom is clog.

The location is great. We had a great weekend walking around the old port. The property itself is a basement and was not super clean. Our bed sheets when we arrived had old makeup and hair but they were great and allowed us to switch rooms. For the price and location I would consider staying again but definitely feel Hygie needs to look at the cleanliness of the place.

I barely slept because of the noise from the street and from inside the hotel (it seemed the staff was doing something overnight and not sure if other guesses were also loud).
The front of the hotel was dusty and didn’t have a front desk, just sort of a podium with a kiosk on the side. At the time of checking out, nobody was available and we kept ringing the bell until someone answered the intercom (maybe we checked out too early). Pillows were think.
Pros: room is well remodeled, nice and clean. Hotel is located at walking distance from Place d’arms and restaurants.

Left this hotel in 2 hours!

We booked Hygie hotel for 4 days but ended up leaving after spending 2 hours there! All rooms are in the basement that looks like a former office space. There are no windows, no ventilation, and all heating is centralized. It was so hot and so impossible to breathe in our room! Our dog was panting loud and was restless! We have requested a fan, asked if it’s possible to reduce the temperature, but got a negative response each time! After 2 hours we decided to leave as this would have been a miserable stay with sleepless nights! We have requested a refund but the management refused to refund us and refused to cooperate with Hotels.com, even though we stayed there just for 2 hours! There is also no reception, no elevator and quite a few stairs to climb with the luggage! We will never consider staying at this hotel again! They literally took our money and provided terrible service!
